Summation Across Of A Variable Amount Of Columns VBA Formula
Jun 3, 2009I'm trying to enter the summation formula into three columns that vary in placement based on the value of num_objs. Basically, the number of grey columns in each of the three sets will equal num_objs. I want the user to be able to enter values into the grey columns in the middle section and the values of the two rightmost white columns (with '0's in them currently) will change accordingly.
My current code is below. However, I keep getting a compile error saying "Expected: end of statement". I've been searching for a solution online for a couple days now, and I don't see how my code is different than what I've been seeing of other people using variables in their formulas.
How To Solve Formula In A Range Of Cells With N/A Values
Dec 6, 2013I am attempting to create a formula that is including numeric values in multiple cells but I want to exclude cells that have an "N/A" value. I am calculating the blended average price using the volume and price from multiple cells but some cells don't have volume or price but an "N/A" instead. The blended average price should be $68 but how do I calculate that including all the cells...even the cells including the "N/A"

Shortening Summation Formula?
Jan 10, 2014I have attached a screen shot below of a sheet I am using to collate fruit orders and calculate an order total for each individual person.

The price of each fruit item runs along row 3 and then each persons order has its own row. The total price for each person is then calculated in column AM. However I am looking to shorten the formula I am using to calculate the total in this column.
I am currently using:
AM4=SUM(C3*C4+D3*D4+E3*E5+F3*F5+........+AJ3*AJ5+AK3*AK5+AL3*AL5)
AM5=SUM(C3*C5+D3*D5+E3*E5+F3*F5+........+AJ3*AJ5+AK3*AK5+AL3*AL5)
As you can see this formula is far too long so I am looking to write it in compressed formula.

Creating Summation Formula Based On User Input.
Jan 8, 2009I'm trying to create a formula similar to this: =sum(B7:B & 8*A2+3). What I want the formula to do is start in B7 and go to B###. The cell number is based on user input. So if the user enters "24" in cell A2, then 8*24 = 192, 192 + 3 = 195, so the formula would be: =sum(B7:B195). Can I do this in a cell, or do I need to run it in a macro?

Jun 13, 2014I would like to create a change event macro that will update multiple formulas that pull data from various tabs on a file. The tabs are named with a single date. So ideally when a certain master cell (Allocation!H2) is updated to the current date the macro will be prompted to update the range that contains formulas and update accordingly...so its and index match fomula based that has a variable being the tab name which is a date. I have a range of dates in cells F4:AB4 and want the formula to go into F5:AB5, I can then fill that down to whatever row I want...that bit I can handle.

Formula To Call Variable File Name In Cell Links

In attempting a simple formula (a couple VBA codes I tried did not work and were probably substantially more than I needed anyway), I made the following:
='CMain FolderSub Folder[concatenate(cell w/file number,".xls")]Sheet1'!A1
This is identical to the copy/paste link formula currently in use except that I am trying to have the actual file number/name generated off the master list instead of what is in the file itself.
Purpose: in case I was not clear on this above, I am trying to automatically populate the master worksheet with the data from the workbook. The current procedure is to copy a line of the data from the workbook, then paste as a link in to the master worksheet on the row corresponding to the file number.

May 6, 2008I am creating a billing sheet that has a column where charges are coded (to determine what they are for) and I want a "Grand Total" for everything followed by a breakdown "Total" for things with the same code. Is there a way to set SUM code to grab all numbers next to codes?? (EX. Column A is Billing Code, column B is Cost in $$; I want a total at the bottom that takes the different amounts in column B based on the various information/codes from column A).

1. No negative growth can be allowed (Column M which is difference between columns Q and B) and I therefore added Column N to bring the growth in Column R to 0% for those which had a growth of less than 6%.
2. Minimum growth however allowed should be 6%
3. Maximum growth allowed should be 50% (not all need to have 50% growth)
4. The balance of the allocations to organisations with growth more than 50% should be used to "equalize" allocations proportionately between the other organisations with growth lower than 50%

Oct 9, 2007I am trying to solve a set of simultaneous equations by using SolverOk function in VBA.
I dont want to use the 'SetCell' option so, I wrote the following
SolverOk MaxMinVal:=1, ByChange:= Range("V34:V36")
SolverAdd CellRef:=Range("AK4:AK6"), Relation:=2, FormulaText:="0"

but I get an internal memory error. However, if I use the solver dialog box directly from excel and not through a macro and keep the 'Set Target Cell' as empty, I get the right solution.

May 30, 2006Given a list of numbers and a list of 'allowable' operators, come up with a specific total. ("The numbers game" on countdown on BBC2.... ooooh Carol Voderman)
For example, given the numbers 1, 3, 4 and 5 with valid operators +, -, /, * come up with a solution equal to 15. All numbers must be used once only. Use operators as often as required. The specific example above was given to me and I personally think its not solvable (might be a practical joke). But I am wondering is it possible to prove this through assertions or develop an algorithm to solve such puzzles. I can get 14 and 16, but not 15....

May 25, 2009how to make a summation formula in excel (not simply adding 2 numbers together)? I have one cell that I would enter a number into, and another cell which would specify the limit. So if the first cell A1 = 1, and cell A2 = 50, then the 3rd cell would automatically add up every number "n" plus 1 until n=50. ie: (1+1)+(2+1)+(3+1)+...+(50+1)=result. The limit would have to be flexible, so if I change the 3rd cell to 70 then it would calculate to 70.

My aim is to populate columns C to G (Q1,Q2,Q3,Q4) automatically via vba against a particular account name(in expected output tab).The account names will have a Key word (listed in the "List Of Account" tab)The Q1 Sum should be a sum of Q1 revenue against all such accounts containing the Key word. Same applies for Q2,Q3 and Q4.Each account has 3 types. viz, BAU, Top Commits and Strong Prospect.
The BAU quarter sum should be pulled from "Revenue 1 - Assured" tab where Q1=Apr+May+Jun, Q2 = Jul+Aug Sep and so on. The Top Commits Sum should be pulled from "Revenue 2 - Expected" against all records where "Sales Stage" Column equals Stage 4. The Strong Prospect Sum should be pulled from "Revenue 2 - Expected" against all records where "Sales Stage" Column equals Stage
Currently I am using formulas but there is too much of hard-coding and its becoming difficult to manage as Accounts increase.
