How do I incorporate sheetnames into the vlookup function? I need the following sheet name: SALES (located in A1) to be incorporated into the function: vlookup("Sales"?,a1,n84,2,false). .
Attached I have a document where I am wanting all of the individual sheet names on the Total page. Rather than having to change each formula to match the sheet name I believe there is a way to reference the sheet name column (AO) in the formula so you can drag it down to fill in the columns. I am basic with Excel and do not know how to add this indirect function into my current formulas.
I'm trying to use the value of a cell as the sheet name in the array range for my index function, pointing to data on a different sheet. Here is the formula I have now, which points directly to the other sheet (and works fine):
This formula takes the value in cell A87 and looks for it on the sheet called "SheetName", then returns the value in a cell down 36 cells and across 54 cells. This is perfect as is.
I want to be able to have it look something like this:
=INDEX('CellValue where CellValue=sheetname'!A4:BE189,MATCH(A87,''CellValue where CellValue=sheetname'!A4:A189,0)+36,54). I have tried using the INDIRECT function here to get it to read just the sheetname, but cannot seem to get it to work.
I need to include in my roster sheet that if a client is "present" my instructor will check the box. This (idealistically) should add +1 on the column labeled "classes attended" in sheet labeled 5 groups. I've been at this for 3 hours and still have gotten NOWHERE
Cell F4 contains a worksheet name which was “calculated” by an IF function (IF something, then ‘T2’, otherwise ‘T3’).
Cell F5 must then look at either sheet T2 or sheet T3 (depending on what it is told to do by reference to cell F4 just above) and report what it finds in cell A1 there.
Clearly I must use the INDIRECT function. But I have tried every imaginable combination of single and double quotation marks to produce the equivalent of =T2!A1 all to no avail.
Is it something to do with letter and number combinations?
Alternatively, how else should I achieve what I want?
PS F4 could have been “calculated” by any other means, e.g. =MONTH(TODAY()).
I put = cell("filename") in cell A1 on every sheet to display the full pathname of that sheet.
it seems that the path does not always display the correct sheet name- rather it seems that when changing from one sheet to another the path is not always updated.
Is there a switch that needs to be activated to ensure that the path is updated correctly when changing sheets on the same worksheet?
Sheet 1 is my main page containing all my data, full of formulas and is protected. Sheet 2 is a simple sorting page with no color and is simply for sorting and printing.
Sheet 2 has IF formulas refrencing rows and cells on Sheet 1.
Example Sheet 1 A2= Bob
Sheet 2 A2="" until I put in this formula:
=IF(Sheet 1!A2="","",Sheet 1!A2)
Now Sheet 2 A2= Bob
Simple...
But when I delete a row in Sheet 1 (using my cool new macro...long story)
I get #REF! in the cells on my sorting sheet, as I should I guess, because there is no more row there to reference. It's annoying, but what do I do to fix it without just unchecking the #REF! in autofilter on Sheet 2.
I just want to eliminate #REF!
Do I need to put something else in the IF formula?
I have been trying to use the concatenate function to join some text strings to a cell on a different sheet - From an input sheet -Sheet 1 named Input, to a Notification Form (Sheet 2). Although the Function Argument display tells me that it will display the result I want it actually displays just the formula. It's a very simple thing
Address 1 10 Downing Street Address 2 Westminster Address 3 London Postcode SW1A 1AA
I want displayed as: 10 Downing Street, Westminster, London, SW1A 1AA in a single merged cell. All I am getting on the Form is =concatenate(Input!c25," ",Input!c26," "Input!c27," "Input!c28). I feel sure that it is a very easy solution but I can't arrive at it!!
I have a workbook with a Summary sheet and then a series of sheets for each month/year. Onthe summary sheet I use column A for the month/year as a date formatted "mmm yy" ie the same as the sheet names.
in columns B,C,D I want formulae that sums or averages a fixed range on each sheet but I would like the formula to take the sheet name from Columa A rather than hard coding it.
So that in the example =SUM('Dec 04'!$C$6:$C$47) I want to take the "Dec 04" from the text in cell A3
- I have total of 13 sheets in a workbook - 12 sheets represent 12 months with data; 13th sheet is single sheet in which i would like to get complete overview of 12 months
- each of 12 sheets has actually sales results for multiple products with following data: internal code, manufacturer part number, name, and qty sold in that month
- situation is that some products have been phased out during the year and some were introduced so each sheet is slightly different in terms of in which row certain product is located
What i would like to achive is to make 13th sheet (whole year overview) do the following: - there is a list of all the products in it, each product has unique internal code - this code (from each line) should be used to find that code in each monthly sheet, then find its monthly sales value (copy it) and paste it in sheet 13 in cell that represents this product and particular month.
In other words i would like to see for each product what was monthly sales throughout this year, but avoid manually filling in qty for each product per month.
I have several named ranges with 4 column each. The named ranges have all the same names but with the tow last digits ranging from 00 to 50 by increments of 5 (ie 00, 05, 10, 15 etc.). The 4 columns for each of the named ranges have the following headings; 10, 100, 50 ,70. I have two cells with drop down lists with the list of the suffixes of the named ranges in cell e5 (ie 00, 05, 10, etc) and in g5 a drop down list with the 4 headings for the columns (10, 100, 50, 70)
I want to refer to these 2 values so that in column B, I can get the values of the column chosen for the given named range. For example, the column "100" for the named range THRESHOLD_10. In cell C1, I entered the following formula ="THRESHOLD_"& E5 which gives me the named range name. I entered the following function in the first cell of column B = index(C1,2,G5) but get a #REF! answer. If I write the following formula =index(THRESHOLD_10,2,G5) I get the right value.
how to get about it, and indirect(C1), but still gets a #REF! message. When I evaluate the formula, the named range appears with quotes "" which might be the reason that it cannot work. I am nearly there...but for the syntax and cannot get that working!
I am not looking into a VBA solution for this one and want to keep it simple. I want to enter a basic IF function/formula to make the color of a cell yellow if the condition is true.
Here is where I am stuck/what I am putting inside the cell:
I want B1 to contain the value from the cell G24 in sheet "DifferentSheet". I want to use the value in A1 to determine what row on "DifferentSheet" I should use.
I have problem with a spreadsheet that I am trying to create.
I have a large sheet of data which is dumped in from another program. This contains our deliveries and orders etc.
Now for planning purposes, I would like to see how much of each item I have on order.
I can use VLOOKUP, but that will only give me the amount for the first order it encounters. But not the 3rd, 4th etc. I could use SUMIF but I need the dates as well. After doing some searching I think I have found a way of doing this: I can get the first easier enough:
=VLOOKUP(D$11,'purchase order'!$A$1:$K$6000,5,FALSE), this gives the first order than the another =VLOOKUP(D11,'purchase order'!$A$1:$K$6000,11,FALSE) for its date.
For the second column to check any other orders I thought I could find the cell referance for the first SEARCH: which is
A108: ="A"&MATCH(D11,'purchase order'!A:A,0).
Is there any way of using this Reference to start a new VLOOKUP. So the Lookup Range starts at this reference?? To make things harder it is on another sheet.
The result is a variable/number (235), "d" or a blank cell ("").
This formula is in a column and works fine where there are numbers in corresponding cells. The problem arises with corresponding cells which appear blank (show no values) but contain references to other cells: they result in a "d" when nothing should be displayed.
So while a corresponding blank cell is correct if it shows no values, it gives me this problem - I don't want "d" or anything.
I am having to copy and paste rows of data into a new worksheet where the rows sizes change and I am wanting to add a new row at the end of the pasted rows but with the sumation formula to add the relevant column
e.g copy range B14:AA17 with in this case columns E to AA holding the numerical values. Therefore I wish in cell E18 to sum the value of E14:E17 and so on ending with cell AA18 holding the sum of AA14:AA17
As these vary I have all relevant variables, Range to add sumation values to eg E18:AA18 Start Cell E14 and so on.
I tried adding "=SUM(x:d)" where x and d are vars relating the the column cell required eg x = E14 and d = E17
I have a formula that looks at a cell on a front sheet, and then returns the contents of that cell as the result if it meets the criteria. So for example this formula would be in Cell A1 on Sheet2 IF(SHEET1!A1,"New",Sheet1!A1,"-")
This formula is always in the same cell (different sheet) as the cell that it is looking at, down 1500 rows. Instead of having the formula named for each cell is there anyway to ask excel to 'look at this cell but on this other sheet'. e.g IF(Sheet1!"This Cell" etc). That way no matter what cell you put the formula in it is always referencing the correct cell for the formula?
I need to set a cell colour by the value of a cell in another sheet so i can't use conditional format. Is there a formula that allows the user to set a cell style, colour, font etc.
I have this formula in cell C5 of a worksheet. =HLOOKUP(C2,OB_RB_MBRSHP_2002!$B$25:$M$35,11,FALSE). It is one of several formulas in a block of data referring to worksheets ending in 2002 (the year). Is it possible to take the OB_RB_MBRSHP_ part of the formula and use the 2002 part of the formula which is shown as the year in a C1l and create a formula without using the the OB_RB_MBRSHP_2002 in the actual cell? i.e. =concatenate("OB_RB_MBRSHP_2002",C1) in say c4
Then have a formula like this: =HLOOKUP(C2,C4!$B$25:$M$35,11,FALSE)
I know this method doesn't work because I have tried it, but I wondered if there was another way. My reason for asking is that this data is copied down on a regular basis and it would be far easier to change the year in one cell than to change all of the 2002 references to 2003 for example.
I want to develop on the formula I have below to return the value in the same sheet as the formula from Cell AA2 if the result of the formula below returns #N/A
I found a post to name a sheet using the cell value with VBA but is there a "formula" in Excel that will do the same? I'm wanting only to use the first 10 letters of a cell.
After having searched for a while I can't seem to find any formula that will look at a cell for reference as to which sheet to go to and return a certain cell's contents.
For example, in column A, I have the text "Sheet1" and in column B, I need the formula to return the contents of cell B15 from Sheet1, based upon column A.
