Utilizing Iteration In Conjunction With Function
Nov 1, 2008
I would like to start with a spending value, (SV), that would be the amount of money that I want to spend in a year, not counting taxes. The function (or functions) would then go through some sort of iterative calculation process that would compute the total spending level including taxes, (TS), the federal tax, (FT), and the state tax, (ST).
These values would have the relationship that TS=SV+FT+ST. When the iteration was finished, the federal tax and state tax amounts would be consistent with the taxes that would be due for this level of total spending as determined by the normal tax tables for both federal and state taxes.
I am not concerned that the tax figures be absolutely exact, so a lot of iteration is probably not necessary.

I have a written a small sub to run solver. However, I need to run a secondary sub at each solver iteration. The secondary sub I want to run is called “BypassGoal”.
My code currently looks like:
Sub OperatingPt()
Dim WrkBk As Workbook
Dim WrkSht1 As Worksheet
Set WrkBk = ThisWorkbook
Set WrkSht1 = WrkBk.Worksheets("Engine")
Dim Mode As String
Dim CellTarget As String
Dim CellRange As String
WrkSht1.Activate
WrkSht1. Cells(30, 2).Value = 2
CellTarget = "H14"
CellRange = "B30"
SolverReset
SolverOptions Iterations:=3000, Precision:=0.000001, AssumeNonNeg:=True, Derivatives:=2, StepThru:=True ....................

It seemed to be working OK for the first hour I had my sheet open. I then noticed that a variation of the following Sub would not update unless I clicked somewhere else in the sheet or edited another non-included cell. It's like something is holding up Excel from running this function and updating the cells if b2 is greater than a3 then a3 will not update to = b2 immediately.
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
If [b2] > [a3] Then [a3] = [b2]
End Sub
My data in column B is formula derived and that formula contains data that is live updated data brought in from DDE link.
My question is, should I setup this formula as part of a macro, instead of workbook code and attach an Application.Ontime function to ensure reliable execution? Could too many IF statements cause delays (about 100 of them currently in the code Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range))?

I can't seem to get the OR( operator to work in conjunction with AVERAGEIFS(. In the example below, Quality is the name of the table and Call Rating is my average range. Quality[Manager] is Criteria 1 range and I would like it to use only Manager 1 and Manager 3.
=AVERAGEIFS(Quality[Call Rating],Quality[Manager],OR("=Manager1","=Manager3"))
I thought that an OR( operator would work perfectly, but no matter how I vary the syntax it always give me a DIV/0 error.

I am using the below formula to calculate average handling time for a call center agent then converting that to a percentage. Instead of the agents score showing the percentage I would like for it to show a "label" based on their level of performance. 50% = Below Average 75% = Average 100% = Above Average
=IF(G15="","",IF(G15<=375,"100%",IF(G15<=405,"90%",IF(G15<=450,"80%",IF(G15<=475,"70%",IF(G15<=600,"50%",IF(G15>=601,"0%",0)))))))
How can this be done?

Suddenly I have a problem with copying formulas:
I started with the following formula: =COUNTIF($D2:$D5694,D5724)
I then copied it to the next line: =COUNTIF($D3:$D5695,D5725)
That's not supposed to happen if you use the $ sign. So I checked Tools > Options > calculation. That is set to automatic. What else could cause my problem?

I am trying to make a calculator inside of Excel...learning how Text Boxes work in conjunction with CommandButton. I am trying to code the button to display inside of the text box. I have never coded a text box before to do anything like.
note: For right now i am just looking at being able to click on a button [numbered 0-9] and have them dsplayed inside the text box. After that I want to be able to set up an addition, subtraction, etc button to actually have the math done.
(ie...if Button 1 is clicked, 1 will be displayed, if Button 2 is clicked the display will adjust to show 12, etc etc)

Column A contains State names; column B contains a few cities for each of the states. Row 1 contains rank as the header row. Then the table begins in cell C2 with the rates. I have two of these (on separate sheets), one titled w dep (with dependants) and the other w-o dep (without dependants). On a third sheet I have 4 combo boxes.
1.Chooses between Dep or W-O Dep
2.Chooses Rank
3.Chooses State
4.Chooses City
Here are my questions.
•How can I filter down the cities so that if I chose Texas for example, only the cities from Texas would show up in my combo box?
•I have figured out the formula to display the results from the w dep sheet but cannot get the information from the w-o dep sheet. Here is the formula I’m using.......

Is it possible to use Sumifs to calculate multiple columns i.e. if a summary were able to sum Part No. 742810 O-rings for March it would arrive at 24 O-rings and 20 of the same for April. I tried it using
=SUMIFS(Issues!$F$2:$F$6,Issues!$B$2:$B$6,B8)
(Example) but it seems that Sumifs may have restrictions on the number of columns.

Is there a built-in dialog box that allows the user to select a range by clicking and dragging with the mouse? I'd like to use this in my code and have the dialog box return either a range object or and address that I can use in a range assignment statement. I'm looking for something like what you get when you select Insert-->Name-->Define. The "Refers To" text box at the bottom automatically updates as the user clicks and drags across cells. Is there such a thing accessible via VBA?

My problem is within each xml files for each records(1000s of records) there are sub pieces to certain record parts. I.e. software versions (that will be different per piece of software) however they will always fall under prod vendor

Excel creates a new row for each of these.
How can I make it only create the 1 row and comma seperate those?

Not come across this issue before where the Code works once then fails to iterate!
In attached file 140405 Loop not working.xlsm, for each cell in C4:C27 on the Inventory Sheet, the Code should:
Look in the Data Input sheet.
Find the Item Number in Col B corresponding to the number in Col A of the Inventory Sheet.
Find the quantity on the Data Input sheet corresponding to that number.
Copy the quantity into Col H of the Inventory sheet.
The Code works for the first row then throws error message "Run Time error 13" Type Mismatch!
VB:
Sub OFFLOAD()
Dim Dest As Range, Dest1 As Range, oCell As Range
Set Dest = Sheet2.Range("C:C")
Set Dest1 = Sheet2.Range("B:B")

I am having some trouble with some code I am trying to write for some calculations. I am trying to make excel iterate through a range of cells in 2 columns and compare the cells in each row of the column to a set different number. If both the numbers in the row pass the test then I add them to a count. I know it is simple but I am really struggling with my basic vba knowledge to correctly iterate through 2 columns.
A

For example say my "cutoffs" are a value greater than 2 for numbers in column A and a value greater than 5 for numbers in column B. The program then should return me a value of 2 for this example.
Option Explicit
Function cutoff(phi_cutoff As Double, sw_cutoff As Long, gross As Double)
Dim count As Double
Dim my_range1 As Range
Dim my_range2 As Range
Dim c1 As Range
Dim c2 As Range
Dim value1 As Double

Essentially, I would like a user to be able to select a PUB from the Data Validation drop down in row 2 of the PUB RATES sheet so that the corresponding information in the DATA sheet autofills.
Currently, this works only for the first column under each PUB when selected and this fills across all 4 columns (rather than the respective information for each column filling).
Also, the Data Validation dropdown includes blanks which I would like to exclude.
I have used a Range Name for the Data Validation of each PUB so that these can be drawn from a separate sheet as I don't want all the DATA content on the same sheet as the PUB RATES content.

In a financial environment we have a calculator which uses iteration to allow for a cost being added to loan amount where the cost is based on the total loan amount. Iteration is set to 100 iterations with max change .001
On one PC the first time the calculator is opened it gives a particular (incorrect) result. If the input cells are cleared and the data re-entered, it gives the correct result. This only happens on one particular PC. Is there some other setting , other than the iteration setting, that would cause this?

I have a function
VB:
Function f1(Matrix As Range)
'Does something and returns f1 = a double
End Function
And a second function which defines and constructs a matrix of doubles to use as an argument in f1 to return a double:
VB:
Function f2(dD As Double)
Dim MatrixRed() As Double
Redim MatrixRed(1 To dD, 1 To 10)
For i = 1 To dD
For j = 1 To 10
MatrixRed(i, j) = i * j
Next
Next
f2 = f1(MatrixRed)
End Function
I get an output error (#VALUE). I think it has something to do with MatrixRed not being a range anymore?

let me start by saying that I know an example workbook would be useful here, but the part I'm struggling with is the [managementroster.xlsm] file, and there is A. no way I can release it to the internets and B. its so huge/complicated I couldn't even begin to reproduce a portion of it, scrubbed of data, and hope to maintain its functionality in a meaningful manner.
[Code]....
This formula checks a staff number on this spreadsheet, and then goes and looks at the staff number on the roster. Once found, it returns that staff members roster, but changes any manager codes in the MRC list to Mgr, and changes all other roster codes to Free.
I now need this formula, before altering roster codes to Mgr or Free, to only return codes that are a match for another table (or after really. I don't particularly care, so long as only codes are shown that match data from another table). I think an index/match function would do the trick, but this forumula is already at the edge of my excel ability, nesting another function within it is completey beyond me. The relevant cells for the index/match function would be:
This first Match function targets the column. $E3 is the date required, $BA$1:$DN$1 is the range the dates are entered in
Match: Lookup value = $E3
Lookup array = '[ManagementRoster.xlsm]Vacancies!'$BA$1:$DN$1
match type = 0
This second Match function targets the row. $A$4 is the department name, $B$434:$B$452 is the range where all departments are entered
Match: Lookup value = $A$4
Lookup Array = '[ManagementRoster.xlsm]Vacancies!'$B$434:$B$452
match type = 0
Index: array = $BA$434:$DN$452
So I think my final function is
[Code] .....
But I have absolutely NO idea where it would fit within my first formula, or how to code it so that my original formula only reproduces results that are found in both sheets, or anything.

I have created a List in excel of various tasks. (See attached example.) Each row contains one cell with a function which equals the cell above it and to the right. So the function for cell C3 would be D2. The only importance is that the cell mirrored is always the cell one above and to the right. However, now I would like to be able to rearrange this List, but the “one up and to the right” function will now be all over the place.
Is someone aware of a function which will target a relative location instead of an exact cell?
