Write Names Of Named Ranges Of Specific Sheet Into Array
May 21, 2008
I am trying to enter only the named ranges in the active worksheet into an Array.
The amount of named ranges can be from 4 to 7 per sheet.
I'm self taught at VB (This posts on this forum have taught me - thank you!) and have got the below code working on a Workbook - but not on a worksheet level.
ActiveSheet.Names.Count returns nothing, changing to ThisWorkBook.Names.Count returns the sum of all .Names in the workbook.
Sub aTest()
Dim sArray() As String
Dim sJoin As String
Dim y As Long
x = 1
y = ActiveSheet.Names.Count
z = ActiveSheet.Name
I've been writing a UserForm in Excel that serves the purpose of a front-end contact/reporting spreadsheet.
I've managed to get a multitude of elements to work together as of yet, however have been having problems writing data to the correct place on the spreadsheet.
What I've already achieved:
The first interactive portion of the userform currently has a TextBox (ArtistAgentAddEmail) - this is the email that we would like inputting on the spreadsheet.
a ComboBox which is populated on 'Userform_Initialize' into an array (ArtistAgentAddDestination) - The range of this array is A1:AC1.
[Code]......
What I would like to do next:
The issue that I've been having is getting the email to be written into the correct column. Once I have typed in my email and chosen my destination from the combobox, I would like to write this email address in the column of the destination chosen.
E.G. The first 5 elements of my ComboBox array are: Neil O'Brien, CAA, CODA, ITB and PRIMARY. If i got an email from somebody in the CAA organisation to add a new contact to the reporting, I would like to be able to add this address via the userform underneath the previously added contact.
The code that I am currently using for my confirm button is:
Can I stop the displaying of the name of the named area when I am zoomed out of a worksheet? I can not see an option on the Tools > Options > View menu.
A workaround, found by accident, is to make the named area have more than one area.
1) I'm relatively new to arrays, but what I need to do is generate a list of file names and the sheets within each one. I would like to use an array for this, but since I don't have much experience.... well....that's why I'm here. Can someone point me in the right direction?
2) And the second part of this.... I was planning on using the FileSystemObject to determine the files in a selected folder and loop through that list of files, opening each one and harvesting the required info (file name and all sheet names). Should I use the FSO or is there something built into Excel that might be better (and also limit the number of dependencies for this little "project" of mine).
I have a namd sheet for everyday of the year in a workbook, so jan1 jan2 jan3 etc. I have a stats page which brings together certain pertinent data from those pages, so a formula on the stats page might look like this =sum('jan1'!$m$25:$m$900). What I would like to do is to name each day - jan1 jan2 etc as a named range perhaps date1 date2 etc so that the above formula would then look like =sum(date1!$m$25:$m$900).
I have written this macro to convert into a csv file to run for all defined named ranges in the activesheet. It run jst perfect when I hit SAVE button and it creates that many different CSV files for each named range.
However I am trying to use same macro in the another file and the problem I am facing is there a lot more named ranges and I want to run the macro for only selected NAMED RANGE. In this case 2 Named Range / 24 Named range.
What part of code do I need to change and to what to make it work for just 2 named ranges ?
I have a worksheet that will have tabs added as time goes by and a macro within the workbook currently selects all of the sheets and copies and pastes formulas within all of the sheets simultaneously. Right now, if a tab is added, the macro needs to be updated to select that specific tab name as well.
I would like to simply have the macro select all of the sheets starting with "IL" until the sheet before "reference", or all sheets except the first 3 and the last 2 if that is easier. Any ideas? And thank you for your help, you people really amaze me sometimes!
I need to create a named range on multiple sheets with the same named range & i cant figure out how to do this. EG :- I want to create a named range called "_SubUnitRows" on sheet1 starting from "A1:A50" & other named range again called "_SubUnitRows" on Sheet2 starting from "A1:A25" ...
I need a macro that will look for a specific text string in the tab names of the workbook and replace it with a new specified text string (leaving the rest of the existing tab names). In other words, a simple find/replace but applied to all tab names in the workbook rather than cells. Ideally, I'd like it to pop up something and ask for the text to find and the text to replace it with, so I don't have to edit the macro itself each time I want to use it, but editing the macro each time is fine. Either way will be wonderful.
I have this script (below, Krishnakumar orignally provided this script).
I'm trying to edit it to add cell values from cells C16 and E16 along with the worksheet name it displays in listbox2. So lets say worksheet "rollover" is the sheet being displayed in the listbox2.
I would like for it to look something like this:
rollover TT:'data from cell C16' TA:'data from cell E16'
Public FilePath As String Public dic As Object Public oWB As String Public oWS As String Public aWS As Worksheet
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click() Dim i As Long, wb As Workbook, n As Long With Me.ListBox2 For i = 0 To .ListCount - 1 If .Selected(i) = True Then oWS = .list(i) Set wb = Workbooks.Open(FilePath & oWB, UpdateLinks:=0) wb.Sheets(oWS).Activate Exit For End If Next End With End Sub
I have a workbook with multiple worksheets. Each worksheet corresponds to a certain store fixture estimate. Ont these sheets I have a specific cell where you can input how many fixtures of that type are to be used.
On that sheet also, is a range of cells (ex. Range("A65:F3340")) that needs to be copied to a new summations sheet of total hours to build the project.
If sheet 1 has 1 fixture - the macro should copy the range of cells only once. Sheet 2 has 4 fixtures - tha macro should copy the same range four times appending each set of data tot eh end of the previous, And so on for each fixture sheet.
I would like to combine List1 and List2 into a 3rd named range called List3. I was wondering if this were possible without using any additional cells/columns (i.e. I don't want to use Column C like in the example shown in the link above).
I would like to write a Macro that does not use Cell Names eg(A22). Instead, I would like to navigate around by using R1C1 reference cells or maybe GoTo fuction.
I am trying to write a Macro that Copies Cells from Sheet 1 and Pastes that information in another worksheet 10 rows below previously pasted information. I don't want to use Cell names in the Macro as it will paste the information in the same spot each time.
I have the following assignment to do, problem is I'm new to arrays and functions in VBA and nothing is working for me, i get errors no matter what i try, (for example i don't know how to feed the array to the function, and it won't let me write a range to an array)
5.A) Write a function that takes a 2D array of doubles, a single cell range, an optional cap and an optional floor. B)Write the array on to the sheet with the single cell range parameter being the location of the top left of the array on the sheet. When writing the array to the sheet, for each value in the array where it is below the floor put the floor on the sheet, where the value is above the cap put the cap value on the sheet, otherwise display the original value. The input array should not be modified. All code should be what you consider production quality.
I have 4000 rows of data with numbers in it (only one column...column C). These numbers are consecutive but these have breaks in between. So I am trying to find out where those breaks are and output those points in a list. So here is a macro that I came up with...but these array doesn't seem to write out results.... can anybody help please?
This macro tries to compare the two adjacent cells and if the difference between the values is greater than 1 then it copies that value in an array and writes that value in a cell in the same sheet.
Sub Macro1() Dim temp(1, 1000) As Integer i = 0 previouscell = 0 For Each cell In Range("C:C") currentcell = cell.Value abc = previouscell + 1 If currentcell <> abc Then temp(1, i) = currentcell i = i + 1 Range("D" & i).Value = temp(1, i) End If previouscell = cell.Value
In VBA, is it possible to write to a text file, on 1 single line (without carriage return or line feed) the values of a dynamic array? For instance, I have the array:
Dim my(n) As Double 'n is changeable my(0) = 0 my(1) = 1 my(2) = 2 .....
I want to write to a text file, like this: Write #filename, my(0), my(1), my(2) '..... until my(n) but n is changing
I want them on 1 line, because I use the other direction (up - down) for other things).
Im using excel 2010 As it's 60 times quicker I was trying to speed up my code and replace all loops by putting the value into an array, and then transfer the array to the worksheet
It seems to be straightforward for math calculations like in this example:
[URL]
But no luck with the one below. I was trying to test it on a simple loop which replaces two types of string into the 3rd one:
Code:
Dim lastrow, lastrow2, i As Long With Worksheets("KPI5") lastrow2 = .Range("N" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row .Range("T7:T" & lastrow2).Value = .Range("F7:F" & lastrow2).Value For i = 8 To lastrow2 If .Range("T" & i).Value = "Modification" Then
I have recorded (i.e. manually as opposed to writing VBA code) a number of macros to perform a routine, however they do not work when I change the filename.
Could someone please advise on how to edit these macros (which reference a specific filename) so that they work when the file name is changed. The macros copy and paste values from different worksheets and then run another set of macros. However all macros and worksheets are located within one excel file
I am trying to make a UDF that searches for a header, grabs everything under the header, and pulls it somewhere else. My UDF has three parameters:
1) Output_Range: the named range where the parameters will be pulled to 2) Header: the header to search for in order to copy the data underneath it 3) WorkbookName: the name of the workbook to search in
It looks like this:
VB: Function LoadParameters(Output_Range As Range, Header, WorkbookName As String) MyTimer = Timer 'Defining the variables. Dim HeaderCell, HeaderCellEnd, HeaderRange, Output_Range
I have some named ranges that refer to 5 pieces of data organized into a row. For example, the name MyNamedRange might refer to $C$5:$C$10.
I am trying to loop through each column and get the values in MyNamedRange, then change corresponding values in a different named range. However, when I try to use Offset to access the subsequent columns of MyNamedRange, it doesn't work. It only gets the value of the first column right, the rest return <EMPTY>.
How do I go about using named ranges instead of cell names(ie A4:A9)
Private Sub UserForm_Activate() Dim lngRow As Long Dim intIndex As Integer UserForm1.ComboBox1.Clear 'Clear combobox lngRow = 2 Do While Sheet1.Range("a" & lngRow).Value <> "" For intIndex = 0 To UserForm1.ComboBox1.ListCount - 1 If UserForm1.ComboBox1.List(intIndex) = Sheet1.Range("a" & lngRow).Value Then Goto NextRow End If Next intIndex UserForm1.ComboBox1.AddItem Sheet1.Range("a" & lngRow).Value NextRow: lngRow = lngRow + 1 Loop End Sub
I wanted to change "a" to the defined range "search"?
the code to add two independent named ranges cell by cell in vba. Both of the named ranges have the same structure and the sum would be posted to a third area of the same structure cell wise.
At the moment I have to click in the cell and then look at the cells used and look across to the title of the rows.
So for example, performance = D3*D4*D5*D6
I would like, performance = vehicles*availabliity*utilisation*TKM.
That is easy if I have just 1 option. But what if I have 3 options? Naming each cell would be a way to do it but pretty laborious, is there a 'smart' way to use named ranges here?
I'm creating a KPI spreadsheet which utilizes named ranges to allow for Dynamic charting. I've created the first data input sheet for one of the 10 areas being KPIed. The sheet has 60 named ranges in it.
The goal is to duplicate the existing sheet (Area 1A) 10 times and adjust the named ranges and formulas within the named ranges according to the sheet names.
Is there a way to accomplish this without having to manually recreate or edit every named range for each new sheet?
I want a sumIF function (based on three criteria) to fill the values of cells in a column so long as there are values in the cells in the column before that one. I was working with trying a loop, but have been shown a faster way is using the With function.
There are four named ranges that all exist on a separate sheet in the file: Crude, Location, Year and Volume. Based on the first three columns of the file I wish to have an output for the sum of volume based on crude, location and year.
Right now, my output simply returns the total sum of the "volume" range in each cell in the output column.
For example, if total sum of values in the volume column is 100 then my output column currently looks like:
