View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm admittedly a novice in VBA but I'm trying to simply settnig the background color of the active cell. I've seen various snippets on the web that reference this via setting the color.index variable, using the RGB codes, etc. but nothing seems to work. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious. I know from tracing thru that the assignment instruction is being executed. I've tried using Selection.blah instead of ActiveCell, etc. also.

In excel 2000, I am trying to count the lines in a spreadsheet that has the first cell in each row highlighed in yellow. Additionally, I am trying to count the number of rows that has a red font used in the cell in column D.
I have reviewed other posts by searching counting highlighted cells, but I do not understand how to complete the entire process. One of the suggestion was to create a vb script in combination with using =cellindex(??). I do not really understand how to create this, name it and the run it.
how to filter rows based on the background color used in a cell? I need to make a macro that will filter/hide all rows where the cell in column B has the background color set to Yellow. Is there a way to test for that so I could get a true/false value in a column to filter by?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have about 30 spreadsheets that I need to sort data. I'm using a Excel: Mac 2011.
Each sheet has about 100 rows and 80 columns.
I need to extract the rows that have a colored cell somewhere in the row. There are three types of colored cells: black, green, and red. The green and red have X typed in them too. The black cells have D typed in them.
Every row in the sheet has at least one cell with an X in it (colored or not).
I just need the rows with a colored cell to be extracted or filtered from all the rows without colored cells.

This is the strangest thing! I have no conditional formatting set and this just started a week ago.
1. By entering a numerical value in Cell A1 for example typing 5.
2. Then, next five columns would be blocked with specific color.
3. if i am typing 10, then 10 columns would be blocked with specific color.
I want every even row that has a value in it to have a different fill color (same color for all). how to do it? I am using 2007.

The table had 210 rows so I want a quick way of hiding the irrelevant ones (only the ones filled in green or red), and so all the ones with no fill need to be hidden. Something like a button to hide/unhode would be ideal.

My problem is outlined by this guy - basically i want to be able to delete rows in a range that have no fill color, and so keep the ones that are colored.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am a locksmith and attempting to write a spreadsheet app. for my line of work. The output page will use columns A-G and rows 1-?10000? depending on the size of the system. If a 5 pin system is requested then columns A+B will be blacked out. 6 pin system A is blacked out. 7 pin system nothing blacked out. Also, if any cell matches the master key that was input, that cell is filled with red. I know, confusing.
Basically, I am trying to remove the blacked out columns automatically, and to remove the enitire row is any cell in that row is filled with red. Then to remove blank lines.
I would like to automatically color fill a series of rows based on like information from a single column. When the information in the column changes then the rows would either stop filling (this would be best) or fill with a different color until the information changes again.
Summary: series of alternating rows would either be filled or unfilled based on changes from the column information.
Hope this isn't too confusing. Below is an example except I would want the cells filled, not the text or numbers to change. The highlight is changing based on the changing of the numbers.

I wrote a macro to color the cell values in the rows based on their average value. For eg if the cell value is less than 0.2 Avg, they should be red color,if value is between 0.2 and 0.5 it should be yellow. This part is working fine
Now based on the color of the rows cells , need to write a macro for the header one. Logic is Coloum header should be in red colour, if in one or more number of rows cells are red. same with yellow ones. Could you please help me out in solving this with logic.

I tried conditional formatting but the name (or dates) in column A are not the same (always other and other).
I failed to adapt any VBA CODE (found in GOOGLE) because column A varies a lot.

One could of course just loop through it and use the mod function, but I think there has to be something quicker.
I know about conditional formatting, but it is something I need to use over and over again on Ranges that will differ in size so I would like it to be a function I can just run as part of a sub.

View 6 Replies View RelatedThere is a color i like to use alot for shading cell background, and i'd like to add it to the background color dropdown. Now, i get to it by clicking "more colors" and then selecting it from that dialog. This is a lighter shade of yellow. I swear it used to be on the dropdown, but i believe it was removed at some excel version, so now its more of a hassle for me to get to it. Is this customization possible? In the macro recorder, it comes out as .Color = 10092543. Now, it will occasionally show up for a while under "recent colors" but then that will go away after a while.

When I open a new worksheet it is purple. The fill color bucket it defaulted to no fill. I select the entire worksheet and click on the 'no fill' and get a normal white background. If I delete anything on the spreadsheet, where the items were deleted the background is again purple. I have to select and again click on 'no fill'. I am constantly fighting this creaping purple.
