Checking The Sheet Name Already Exists

May 12, 2006

I got the following code to create new worksheets based on the values in column "a". However, I don't know how to check if the new worksheets to be created already exist.

For k = 2 To 10
x = range("a" & k).value
Worksheets(Worksheets.Count).Copy after:=Worksheets Worksheets.Count)
Worksheets(Worksheets.Count).Name = x
Next

Checking If Value Exists Within Column?

Dec 11, 2011

I'm trying to create a questionnaire and in each question you got to rank the answers 1, 2, 3 and 4 according to your preferences.

So I'm trying to use data validation to allow ranges between 1 and 4 and at the same time I'm trying to use =countif($A$1:$A$20,A1)=1 to prevent repeating selections but my problem is that with the data validation tool I can only select one of those options either allowing whole numbers between 1 - 4 or allowing custom and using =countif($A$1:$A$20,A1)=1.

Is there a way to do both?

Macro For Checking If Value Exists In Different Workbook And Adding If Missing

Aug 19, 2013

I would like to have a macro designed. I have 2 workbooks, one having latest information and the other having the information in database already. both workbooks have 26 columns each. I would like to check if a value that exists in Column A of the "latest-information" workbook also exists in the "already-in-database" workbook. If so, I would like to update all 26 columns of that row in the "already-in-database" workbook with information from the "latest-information" workbook. If the value does not exist, I would like to add all 26 fields in that row into a new sheet on the "already-in-database" workbook.

VBA - Create Sheet From Template But Cancel If Sheet Already Exists

Nov 26, 2013

Code:

On Error GoTo ErrorHandler
Dim createsheet As Integer
createsheet = MsgBox("Do you want to Create a Sheet for Uncontrolled Discharge?" & vbNewLine & "NOTE: if the sheet already exists, you cannot create a sheet with the same date - select NO", vbYesNo, "Caution")

[Code] ...

ErrorHandler:
MsgBox "There is already a Sheet Created for that Date.", vbCritical
End If

Right now...it will pop up the error message but it will still create a "template" sheet with the suffix (2), (3), etc... instead of canceling the create new worksheet operation.

Check If Sheet Exists

Mar 26, 2007

I have a userform that copies a sheet in the workbook, renames the sheet & creates a hyperlink to that sheet using the following code.

Private Sub cmdEnter_Click()
Application. ScreenUpdating = False
If ActiveCell.Column <> 1 Then
MsgBox "Go to column A to before inserting a row"
Exit Sub
End If

The problem I have is I can't figure out how to incorporate error checking if the sheet already exists.

What I would like is a message stating that the sheet exists and allow the user to make required changes on the userform.

Test If Sheet Exists ..

May 14, 2007

After going though the archives, I could not find how to test for an entry that does not have a sheet to be pasted into. I have a series of worksheets with the month-year for tab labels. The format for these tab labels is ("mmm-yy"). My code will place the new entry into the first available row of the sheet with the same month-year as the entry. I can enter any item with any date in any order and as long as there is a sheet with the same month-year, the entry will be placed into the correct sheet. Temporarily, when I need to add a new month, I click on a CommandButton that uses this code (located in a general module) to make the new sheet:

Pre-Checking Valid Sheet Names In Hyperlink

Jan 18, 2012

I have the following macro, which is assigned to ctrl+shift+h to allow users to make a list and to insert hyperlinks to other sheets that have more details than the list can show:

Code:
Sub linker()
Dim strDocument As String
Dim strSheet As String
Dim strAddress As String
Dim strLink As String

[Code] .......

I was surprised to see that even if the contents of the active cell is not a valid sheet name in the target document, the link is still inserted without error. If the link is subsequently clicked, the target document will open and an "invalid reference" error box will appear.

Is there any way to check whether the contents of the cell constitutes a valid sheet name in the target workbook at the point at which the hyperlink is created, without opening up the target document?

Excel 2010 :: Cross Checking Info With VLookup And Extracting Data From Sheet

May 9, 2014

So in my excel document I have it such that on the first sheet (Labeled 'Sorted') the data is set up as follows: LOCATION, EXTENSION, NAMEWith the appropriate data under each header. On the second sheet (Labeled 'Locations_Ext') I have a named range called Locations; it contains extensions from a separate document, names of people associated with the extensions from the document, and their locations on the map. I am trying to have it such that the excel matches the extension number given on the first sheet with the ones that I extracted from the document on the second and output the location into the first column on the first sheet. The code I have set up for that process is:

=VLOOKUP(B(//SomeValue),Locations,1,FALSE)

I then want the excel to cross check the information that I took from the Visio to see if the visio is up to date with the latest info we have received (Which is the data on the first page under Extension and Name). The code:

=IF(C(//SomeValue)=VLOOKUP(B(//SomeValue),Locations,3,False),"Good","Error")

Both codes seem to be giving me this: #N/A as the results for every cell.. I'm using MS 2010
