Copy / Paste To Text File Adding Extra Quotation Mark

Nov 3, 2011

I'm using =CONCATENATE() to create Html code.

HTML Code:
=CONCATENATE("<img class=",""""&"alignleft size-medium"&""""," ","title=",""""&D6&""""," ","src=",""""&
"http://www."&E6&"/images/"&C6&""""," ","alt=",""""&F6&""""," />")

The code looks good in the cell:

HTML Code:
<img class="alignleft size-medium" title="Image title here" src=
"http://www.mywebsite.com/images/image_name.jpg" alt="Image alt here" />

But when I copy/paste onto a txt file, its adding an extra (unnecessary) Quotation mark (see code below)

HTML Code:
<img class=""alignleft size-medium"" title=""Image title here"" src=
""http://www.mywebsite.com/images/image_name.jpg"" alt=""Image alt here"" />

I am trying to find a formula that will count the number of unique entries there. I have tried the solutions posted on various websites to no avail (most recently:

Adding Quotation Marks Before And After Text In Range Of Cells Using VBA

Nov 19, 2013

I'm trying to create a shortcut that will allow me to add quotation marks to the begining and end of text in cells. I've tried the following, which works fine when only one cell is highlighted:

VB:
Dim rng As Range
Dim txt As String
Set rng = Selection
txt = """"
rng = txt & rng.Value & txt

However as soon as I highlight more than one cell, it errors. How to make it work for a range of cells?

i wish to place a quotation mark around some text with coding
example "TEST" by using the code below this appears fine and looks fine when i save the file, however when i open that file in a .txt file i see """TEST"""

This is the coding i am using and can see it may be where the problem lies

ActiveSheet. Range("C4").Value = """" & Sheets("PRODUCTS").Range("Y1").Value & """"

to correct it i have tried this

ActiveSheet.Range("C4").Value = " & Sheets("PRODUCTS").Range("Y1").Value & "

Output To CSV Text File Produces Extra Spaces

May 21, 2008

I'm outputting some cells to a CSV. At first I tried using the SaveAs function but that renamed my worksheet and didn't work for ranges (as far as I know)

Sub Export()
'Set myADPFile = "C:ADPPCPWADPDATAPRSHWEPI.CSV"
Dim myADPFile As String
myADPFile = "C:PRSHWEPI.CSV"
Dim x As Byte
x = 5
Open myADPFile For Output As 1
While (Not (Sheet3.Range("A" & x).Value = NA))
Print #1, Trim(Sheet3.Range("B" & x).Value), ",", _
Trim(Sheet3.Range("C" & x).Value), ",", _
Sheet3.Range("D" & x).Value, ",", _ ..........................

The values are correct. However, the excess amount of spaces is not. Using the Write function just encases everything in quotation marks. Replacing spaces isn't a good solution because the first row MUST be in that format, and removing all spaces would require more code to put spaces back in. Is there a way to get rid of all the excess spaces surrounding each value?

Copy/Special Paste Data Within A Range To Next Empty Cell Then Mark The Copied Area

Aug 29, 2008

I'm trying to find a macro that will copy data from the areas of B120:E179 and I120:K179 for example (linked to another worksheet within the workbook) and special paste (Values Only and skipping blank cells) it to the next available open cell up top where basic data entry will be taking place B10:E29 and I10:K29. I need it to only copy/paste the rows with data (skipping all cells/rows with no data) and once it is finished coping I will need it to place an "X" in column M next to the row that it copied data from. I would also need it to reference the data in each row from B to E and if there is an entry say on B14 to E14 that matches it but if I10 to E29 are blank then paste that information on row 14. If it does not match or if those columns are full then paste on next available line.

I hope I'm making sense here. This is for a vehicle tracking log between checkpoints. Each driver and info will be listed on each row. Columns B through E will contain information for each driver: name, badge, #passengers, and vehicle #. The log lists location, time, and destination for outgoing travelers in columns F to H. Incoming info is listed on Columns I to K............

Adding An Extra Condition To An IF Statement

Nov 17, 2009

=IF(SUM(Q4)=0,"",MAX(0,G4-MAX(F4,Q4))/7) - to calculate number of days for year

=IF(SUM(TODAY()>G4),(G4-MAX(F4,Q4))/7,SUM(TODAY()-MAX(F4,Q4))/7) - to calculate number of days year to date

I am using this condition to calculate the length of a service which falls with in a specific review period, eg

Service starts 1 Feb 09 and finishes 30 April 09

The review period is 1 Mar 09 and finishes 31 May 09.

I would need to measure the number of days that fall within the review period, which would be 1 Mar 09 - 30 April 09

At the moment I am missing a condition which identifies whether to subtract from 'service end date' or 'review end date'.

1) get the filename from A2 (A1 is a heading row)
2) Find the appropriate text file in one of the three folders
3) Put the folder name into I2
4) Scan the text file for some strings, and copy some data that follows those strings into J2:O2 (I can handle programming this)
5) Close the text file
6) repeat above for the remainder of filenames (about 1800 files)

Macro To Copy From One File And Paste Under The Last Used Row Of Another File?

Basically, what I'm trying to accomplish is to have a certain range from one file copied, and pasted in the next available (empty) row of another file. While debugging I see that everything is working except for the actual pasting.

Macro To Save As CSV File With Extra Commas

Mar 6, 2012

I created a macro to save an active sheet as a CSV file. Two issues arise out of that effort. One is that I can't seem to get the environment variable right to allow any user to save the file to the root of their My Documents folder on their home directory in a domain environment. That way the template will work for everyone and requires no user intervention. Tried using the % with HOMEPATH, but I must somehow have the syntax off.

Secondly, the file being saved as a CSV file is creating a huge several megabyte file with empty lines of commas.

Sub Macro2()
Sheets("Results").Select
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:= _
"\%HOMEPATH%My DocumentsTesting.csv", FileFormat:=xlCSVMSDOS, _
CreateBackup:=False
Application.WindowState = xlNormal
End Sub

Thought it should be CSV MS DOS file type, but that doesn't seem to work either. I only want to save the rows with data on the active sheet to a CSV file, which will not have all the extra lines of commas.

Select File, Specific Tab, Then Copy/paste

Feb 13, 2010

Feedback.xls is the file I want to have my macro run in. By pushing a button to run the macro, it will prompt the user to select where their file is on their computer. This file will have different file names based on the end user. For example sake, I've included CAP.xls.

After the user selects their file, it will prompt them to choose which tab to copy and paste data from. Typically, there will be 30+ tabs on their worksheet. For example sake, I've created 5 tabs on CAP.xls. The tabs in their workbook will be labeled as I have labeled mine, M1 CAP, M2 CAP & M3 CAP. Therefore, it should prompt the user to select which tab to choose from.

After the user selects their tab (M1 CAP, M2 CAP, M3 CAP), the macro should prompt the user to choose which row of information to copy. In CAP.xls, I have a few rows of information to choose from. They all start with FY10A1, FY10A2, FY10A3, but this information could change. Once they select the row, it will copy each of those fields onto the respectively labeled fields on Feedback.xls.

Find File By Date. Copy & Paste

Dec 9, 2006

I work for a chicken hatchery. So, a couple preliminary things by way of explanation:

1. The day we place our eggs in the incubators, we fill in an excel file containing a list of all the farms from which those eggs came. This is called the "Egg List" workbook.

2. After 21 days have passed, and the eggs have turned into chicks, we open that original file. We copy cells from one column of that file (the workbook is called the “Egg List”, we copy “Sheet1” cells B7:B50), and paste them into another Workbook called “Chick List.”

My question is this:

Is there a macro I can put into the “Chick List” workbook that will automatically locate that particular “Egg list” workbook file that is 21 days old, and paste the contents of its cells B7:B50 into cells A7:A50 in my “Chick List” Workbook. It is preferable if this can be done without opening the old “Egg list” file. But if this is not possible, I’ll take whatever I can get.

Here is what I have, which works okay as far as finding the file. I bootlegged this from another part of this helpful website. But I cannot figure out the syntax for getting cells B7:B50 from the Egg list to copy into cells A7:A50 of the Chick List.

Dim FSO As Object

Sub ProcessFiles()
Dim i As Long
Dim sFolder As String
Dim fldr As Object
Dim Folder As Object
Dim file As Object
Dim Files As Object
Dim this As Workbook
Dim cnt As Long
Dim filenew As Object

Copy And Paste Value Macro / Save Individual File To Right Of Specific Tab

Mar 25, 2013

I have a current macro that saves each sheet as their own file. The first 10-15 sheets are not really necessary, so I typically delete them once the macro has run. I am looking to add two things to my current code:

1. Add a tab called Start. Make the macro look for 'Start' tab and then just save each sheet to the right of that as its own file.

2. Save each sheet in the macro as just a copy/paste value. They current have a lot of links and it makes each file close to 3MB. That makes it incredibily difficult to paste all in one email.

Here is the current code:

Sub CreateWorkbooks()
'Creates an individual workbook for each worksheet in the active workbook.
Dim wbDest As Workbook
Dim wbSource As Workbook
Dim sht As Object
Dim strSavePath As String
On Error GoTo ErrorHandler

[Code] ..........
