Find And Delete Quotation Marks At The End Of A String
Feb 24, 2007I'm using a query that dumps information into Excel. The query automatically creates a formula in each each cell. For instance if the first value in the query showed FUNSTUFF, after dumping it into Excel, the contents of the cell would show ="FUNSTUFF". I can just use a find and replace to get rid of the leading =", but sometimes the values of the cells are supposed to have a quotation mark, so using the same method to remove the trailing quote won't work. I need a way to search each cell, check if the last character in the string is a quote, and if it is, delete it.

Find Is Not Finding Character String?
Jun 11, 2014I have a cell that has approx 22000 characters. I'm trying to remove a specific character string from a cell by doing a find and replace with "". It works for characters in the first part of the cell but not for characters in the last part of the cell.
Example: I do a find/replace for the characters 21242 to "" in column A and I get the expected results. I do a find/replace on 69294 to "", again I get the expected results, but if I do a find/replace on 85203 to "", I get "Excel cannot find what I am searching for" (but its there!)
My cell size is within the max size of 32,767 characters so not sure why its not working.

"c:wwgpeToolbidsTest File.GP$".
I would like to find out the position of the last '' in the string because I want to pull the filename, 'Test File.GP$' into a variable. I would like to avoid writing code to do this. Are there some Excel functions I can use for this?

I would like to use conditional formatting to highlight cells which have the same first 16 characters (yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm) before the "@" AND that contains the words "CHANGE WORLD". Therefore, I'm looking for a formula I could include in the conditional formatting so I can easily find the "CHANGE WORLD" that occurred at the same time (minus the seconds, they may vary slightly).

May 23, 2008I've searched for this in the forums but can't find anything. I need to find/replace a character in Excel, it's a question mark in a box and looks like this
I've tried searching for special characters (using the ALT key and number pad) but I can't find anything matching this.
When I save the spreadsheet as a CSV (TAB delimited) this character gets picked up as a TAB, but when I try find replace on the TAB character it doesn't work!
I'm using Excel 2007.
VBA - Remove Double Quotation Marks Around String Variable?
Jul 29, 2012I would like to query your knowledge database (too much VBA I guess ) as I have a predicament that I cannot seem to solve.
Here is the thing: I am trying to write a sub that would enable me to automatically put in place extensible name ranges (the Offset worksheet function).
The problem is that, despite everything seems to go well, the reference in the name box displays : ="DECALER($C$2;0;0;5-1;1)" (the string comes from a variable and Decaler is Offset in French). These quotation marks are the culprits for sure, as taken off the formula works beautifully.
I've tried everything I've found on the internet, that is to say: Replace(String, Chr$(34), "") so on and so forth, but these marks are not recognized a part of the string so they escape the replacement.

Find And Mark
Mar 16, 2009I have to manually enter the code nos. of the hard copy to find the code in the soft copy. After finding the number, I wish to mark it as so that double work should not be done or to find which code's hard copy is not with me.
I am using Find and Replace to find the number and after it is found I have to click the replace tab to enter colour in it.
Is there any auto function to mark as soon as I find the required number instead of clicking the replace tab to save my time.

Sometimes there are more than 2 identical account duplicates (could be 3,4 or more). In each entry there is a number representing the rating of said account. Removing A Character From A Barcode String
Sep 23, 2009The barcode lablels all have the following format: A318639....that is a letter followed by six numbers.
When I scan the barcodes into any cell, a dollar sign "$" appears in the front of the barcode string that is entered into the cell. The dollar sign is not a relevant part of the string of characters in the barcode label.
What I am looking for is a solution where upon scanning a barcode into any cell, the dollar sign is removed from the front of my string and I am left with just the seven character string which is shown above.
I have experimented with the Data Validation tool by trying to limit the number of characters that are allowed in a cell to seven characters, but that has not actually removed any characters from my data string.
