Find Value In Multi-column Range And Return Value

I have a chart:

I need a formula to find the maximum value in C1:E9 and return the corresponding number in column A. In this instance, the answer would be 12. I've been trying to make it work with a combination of Offset and Max formulas, but since the maximum could be in any one of three columns, I don't know how to make it work.

Return Row Index Of Selected Items In Multi Column Multi Select Listbox

I have a listbox with 8 columns. Multiselect is enabled, and it must stay this way. As part of my program, after the user presses a command button, I need to use the row indexes of the selected rows in order to copy the selected information into an array which is then placed in a different listbox, and then delete the items from the original list. Pseudocode of what I want to do:

But my understanding is that .ListIndex does not work this way with multiselect listboxes. I've tried searching for a solution for a while, but I cannot find one.

Find Value In Range And Return Data From Another Column?

I have attached a file to make this easier. Basically I would like to search "Points Scored" (B2:W9) for the highest score (which I already have done) and when it is found return the team's name that is associated with it. Then do this for the second, third, etc. as it can be seen in the "Main" sheet. I'm thinking an index/find approach, but I just keep getting "N/A".

Find Data In Column Range & Return Cell Same Row But X Columns To Right

i have is 3 sheets in the same excel document. Sheet 1 is the mater sheet, which is a compilation of sheets 2 and 3, however the sheet layouts are different.

The sheets consist of a list of names and details. Sheet 1 has all the names in the list, however sheet 2 and 3 only have partial lists that are in a different order from the original list. The details listed next to the names in sheets 2 and 3 are different and hence a straight forward row copy and paste will not work.

What i need is to write a vba script that can take the name from the master list, search sheets 2 and 3 for the name and lookup the variables placed in next to the name, then update the master sheet accordingly, then continue to the next name on the master sheet and do the update again, and so on until all is updated. I have already thought about using lookup functions in excel however there is 1000 names on the list and around 60 details so it would be messy.

VLookup Date Range And Return Multi Lines

I have a large table in the final tab of my excel book. This table contains data such as Company name, contact details, etc but also a date which I must contact them on (this is nothing sinister, just a curtsy call following a job ).

The problem I am having is that I am running a vlookup on the first tab on a cell referring to todays date. This only brings shows one record which is the first occurrence of this date. This isn't very useful to me

The problems I need solving are:

I would like to be able to vlookup a range of dates (i.e. 7 days before or after todays date) - how do it do this?

I would also like to be able to return multiple results (i.e. if there is more than one company within that date range I would like them to show).

Return Unique ID Based On Multi-Column Lookup

I'm looking for a formula (VBA I'm assuming) that will help me create a unique customer ID out of data that my website generates in order to import records into my accounting system.

I have a current list of customers in CSV format with the columns: CustomerID, CustomerName, CustomerZip

Each customer in our accounting system is assigned a unique,7 digit CustomerID in the format of XXX#### where XXX are the first 3 letters of their last name, and #### is a 4 digit number (with leading 0's) to create unique ID's for customer with the same first 3 characters of their last name. SAMPLE LIST:

SCH0001, Lindsey Schubert, 75230
SCH0002, Thomas Schoembs, 53132
ADA0001, Samantha Adams, 28205
...

What I'd like to do is pass the formula 3 parameters (Cust_First_Name, Cust_Last_Name, Zip) and have it parse the .CSV file and either return an existing customer's current ID or generate the appropriate new, unique ID, making sure in increase the 4 digit # accordingly and insert leading 0's if necessary.

Another caveat, if possible to work with, is the ability to also pass the formula another range of cells to append to the end of the .CSV file's data for comparison reasons. There are times when I'll bulk-import orders (or we receive numerous in the same batch) and the potential exists to have two customers that would have the same CustomerID created using JUST the .CSV data. Ie. If we use the example above and have new customers of Steve Schwab and Julie Schwitzer - we'd end up incorrectly assigning them both SCH0003, where if we'd read Steve Schwab's newly created info and customer ID of SCH0003, then Schwitzer would correctly be assigned SCH0004.

Return Cell Reference From Multi-Column Lookup

i just want to use vlookup and hlookup to give me the row and column headings for 30 to 40 sesor at a time.... but i keep getting #n/a whenever the functions meet a table of more than one column! (reduced workbook attached)

it should surely be simple to get this data - but i've struggled to no avail. I thought that having the four separate worksheets was the problem - but i haven't had any look even when i dump the data into a single worksheet!

i basically just want excel to return the cell reference of a sensor number which exists in a table. sometimes a sensor can appear more than once, but its not very common and i could happily work around that by doing the manual search (ctrl f, find all).

any advice would be very much appreciated, i'm struggling and the number of sensors i need to test will increase in the coming months.. please help!

should i even be using vlookup and hlookup? ive tried all the other excel functions, but they don't seem to be useful?

Find All Row Values Selected In Multi Column ListBox & Fill Adjacent Cell

I have a listbox that has row and columns. The rows are combinations of options and the columns are Additives.

After selecting a row in Listbox1, (first column are names) i would like the value of the second column to goto a specific area.... find that value and in the cell to the right of it place a "Y". The "Y" would indicate that "yes" it was part of the selection row of the listbox. Same for third column, forth, fifth and sixth. The result from the listbox is a number of Y's and N's in the result page. Then making all that were not part of selected line and equal to "N" to hide row (height = to zero).

Listbox and expected result are in attached example worksheet.

The attached does show the need much better then I can explain it.

I have are two worksheets, "Sheet 1" which is a bill of lading form and "Sheet 2," in which columns A and B contain Part Numbers and Weights respectively.

What I'm wanting to have happen is when a user inputs a part number into Sheet 1 (say in cell B6), it calls a UDF that looks up the part number on sheet two column A and returns the corresponding weight from column B (to say cell C6 on sheet 1).

I would like to use a macro to find a number in a worksheet, other than the worksheet i'm using the macro in. The number - in this case a material code located in Column A - must be entered by the user in an inputbox, and then return (copy&paste?) the value of another cell (the price of the material - in Column D) in the same row.

I recorded a macro envoking the find function, but then it only finds the number which I used during the recording. How do I change the code so that the user can input any number, or what code must I write?

I am drawing a complete blank of this one. I know it can be done but I can't seem to remember how I did this in the past.

I have a sheet that has cells A1 at MB, A2 as ML A3 as MD

Then in cells B1 I have MB,TL then in B2 I have ML and then B3 is Blank this time.

Then in cells C1 I have Jim, C2 has Jack, and C3 has Fred.

What I want to do is have a formula that is in cell D1 that looks at the value in A1 and finds that value in Column B and if it is found return the value in the same row in Column C. In the example it would show Jim since MB is found in cell B1.

so this is what i have now.. but Rng does not return as a range.. it returns 69... when i use ctrl + G and type ?rng

I was just recently forced to create my first UDF and after how well it worked I now am very interested in learning more. I am trying to create a function to sort a range by the values in a specific column and return the range. I know this should be really simple but for some reason my code dies whenever it gets to my inner-most loop. I need to use this in a larger function but for now this is my only question. I did find that Excel 2007 has built in Functions for this but my company still uses 2003.

Need to formula to flex to include rows 5 thru 7 in the first section but expand to include rows 9 thru 13 in the second section. =MIN(A5.A7) works but how do I get next section to flex to =MIN(A9.A13) without manually changing the cell references? There is always a blank row in between the sections to separate.

I've got a spreadsheet with various amounts in cells A3:L5. I want to find the last non-blank entry in each row but only where the entry is in a column headed "Guaranteed PRB" (found in row 1). Then I want it to return the column header title found in row 2, which is a date.

I've attached a sample of the spreadsheet with the expected answer in column M.

I've got as far as formula:

how to also make it look at row 1's headers too.

I am having trouble with getting a value (which is the row and column value) from a set of numbers. I have attached an example table to try and make things clearer.
What I have is a table with a set of Row Headers, and Columns Headers all numeric. e.g Columns headed 1, 2, 3, 4, Rows 30, 40, 50 etc. I want to find the 1st occurrence of a value e.g. 1.0 in the table (by 1st Up mean closest to top left), and then give me the value of the Row and Column Header that corresponds to that.

So for the example attached, I want to get the row Value 200 and Column 6 from finding the 1st occurrence of the number 1. I have tried various combinations of index and Match etc. But I can't get my head around the fact that the position of the 1st no. 1.0 can change, therefore I can't use any releative positions etc.

Find Last Occurence Of Value And Return Balance From Another Column

I am trying to create a run balance sheet (see attached sheet). Column C has a list of job numbers, with column D showing the reqd quantities. Once the job is run, the qty is entered in column F and either a balance or the word complete returns in column H. My problem is, is that, when a job with a balance attached to it is re-run, that balance should be returned in Column D.

Ie 574361 has a total of 707 of which 320.4 was run, leaving a balance of 386.6.
When I type in 574361 again, I need column D (in the cell next to the job number)to automatically locate the last reported balance and return its value.
I have tried VLOOKUP and INDEX, but cannot get the thing to return.
