Possible to find the position of the 1st number value inbetween text??
example : GBB_5600_OPP_WNN
Title should read: Finding the nth Occurrence of a character within a text string
I have a very long text string that is delimited by about 50 "/" to segment certain values within the text string. I want to be able to extract the text between the 33rd and 34th occurrence of "/". How to do this?
I am having an issue with formatting a cell to 'general'. I have a macro that runs using a formula (i.e. =MID(A12, 18,5)) to extract certain characters from an external data source. I then use only the values of that formula. There then is another macro that compares that value to another value in another worksheet. The issue I am having is when the macro runs, the code is read as ActiveCell.Offset(0, 3).Value...but instead of returning the value in 'general' format, it returns it with what appears to be text (i.e. "75.50" instead of 75.5). This acts as a mismatch since the quotes appear.
I have attempted several things to correct, but even if I try to format-->general it maintains the quotes. The only way it changes is if I click within the cell...then it turns to general (i.e."75.00" becomes 75.5). I am not sure what is the issue.
I have an array that I want to go through several times. I want to try something like this:
[Code] ......
I cant just say "If Val < 7 Then" because it will spit out the string where "Val" is.
I know that I could create another variable like so:
[Code] .....
but this doesnt seem like an elegent solution...
I am aware that you can use Match to find the position of an entry in an array, and the following code works as expected, returning an index of 4:
View 2 Replies View Related1-Using the Date-Time data in cell “T3” find the cell in column “A” that has the same Date and time.
2-Position the cursor in column I of the same Row.
3-End
In the example giving the Date-Time in “T3” is: 07/03/2008 17:15:00. The Cell in column “A” that has this same Date-Time is: “A97”. The cursor should then be positioned in Cell “I97”.
I want to find a number within a text string, then count the letters in the same string, then add the number to the number of letters.
For example, if I have 9RR in a cell, I want to add 9 + 2 = 11.
The data will always be arranged with the number on the left side of the string.
So, if the number is a single digit, I know I can use left(A1) + len(A1) -1 to get my desired result. But, the trouble I am having is what if there is a double digit number like 10RR...I'm not quite sure how to create a formula (without using VBA) to give me a result of 12 for this cell.
I'm having a 6000+ records, (contacts DB) exported in Excel 2003 format from MS Outlook.
Except the "First" and "LastName", all other contact elements are in the field "Notes" (which is the BZ column according to the exported outlook layout) multiplied by 6469 (records in total)
Useful information are included !!!
I'll give an example of a record...
Column: BZ, Row: 543 says --> "2110000000-6989000000, 1TOK_TER:17-11-010(25 DAYS LESS),
KATERINA 25 (MANTAS KALNNNNN_HYPERTENSION)1000-150, W:95_105, , HR THE 16wks_US NEFRON OK,
NT OK_B EPIP OK(GOLF BALL)_KAMPILI ORIAKI(DIAITA)_DOPPLER OK, O+,TEST OK(TOX_), , , , , , "
Now, I want every time to take the part of the text says "TER:something..." (part of which is date, but not every time with the known format dd-mm-yyyy, as you see here is yyy, followed by something else, with parenthesis here and maybe more data) and copy it in a new cell..., e.g:CO Column, same Row...
Above and every field which by the way is formatted as General (and it is text mainly) are made by merging older excel fields where data laid here and there, that's why you see the commas...with the method of a module with the following code:
Function MyMerge(Rng As Range)
For Each Cell In Rng
Temp = Temp & Cell.Value & ", "
Next Cell
Temp = Mid(Temp, 1, Len(Temp) - 2)
MyMerge = Temp
End Function
Note1:Records with the above string (TER:dd-mm-yyy) are 771 from 6469.
Note2: As an alternative solution I can see an extraction of the TER:dd-mm-yyy string and the copy in a new place, like the:CO Column, same Row...

The list at the left is the data (A1:F1900) in the middle the table (is like a parking lot - place number), and in the right is the swap results, I mean if I put the table in front of the list, and want to know what place number 2 was before, I can see was in the position 7 in the table, next #6 was in 8 and so on, see the example:
Code:
2
6
25
31
37
50
1
2
3
4
5
6
[Code]...
when I go to swap the second line I mean 2-6-11-18-etc. the table has to move one cell down like this.
Code:
2
6
25
31
37
50
[Code]...
and for the next number, the same thing, the tabe go down one place and according from the new position swap the numbers.
The position talbe is on H:M from 1 to 500, I don't write H1:M500 because remember this table go down one row every time, and the results in O:T; well at least I don't find another way to explain.
In cell A2 I have text with a lot of “/”, so I need formula that will return the position of the before last “/” in the cell. (Or the last if above isn’t possible).

I have a very large file of data, over 500,000 rows, opening in one sheet in Excel is not an option with my current version. In each row I need to change the characters in positions 41-44 from whatever they current are, to '9999'. I'm sure there has to be a way I can do this using vba, does anyone have a sample snippet of code, or another post they can point me too?

1 10 .034
15 25 .072
35 45 .089
Output Cell = ???
I am trying to find a formula for the output cell. Suppose the designated cell = 7 due to formulas above it. So that number is always given but can change. I then need a formula for the ouput cell that says if the designated cell is greater than or equal to 1, and less than 10, then the output cell should equal .034. So suppose the designated cell = 18.2. Then I would want the output cell to be .072 since it is greater than or equal to 15, and less than 25. The template I am using has 23 rows of numbers like above. I didn't know how to do it for 23 rows though. If/Then doesn't work because it is 23 statements long (well over the seven limit) and the vlookup only works when the cell is equal to a number and not a range.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI need to create a macro to do the following:
Search the activecell for a text string (a), and then either paste in text string (b) at the end of the cell if (a) is found, or text string (c) if (a) is not found.
For example, if the activecell has "AA/" in it, I want the cell to become "AA/01" (pasting in "01" at the end), and if the cell has just "AA" in it, I want it to still become "AA/01" (pasting "/01" at the end). The macro will be linked to a commandbutton.
I have a report that in column BX has a large string of text (html information). Sheet2, Column A will correspond to ID and Columns C and D are start/end dates.

I'm trying to extract the number portion from the following string. I'm trying to use FIND to find the first digit between 1 and 2 so I used an "or" argument along with the code number, however it's not working here. What I really want to do is find any digit between 1 and 9 in the string, however I started with this formula for now. why this doesn't work and provide a better formula. I want to understand why this didn't work to understand the functions better. Text string is as follows "standard VAT rate: 20% (Jan 1984)". The formula I used in the following =MID(A253,FIND(OR(Char(49),CHAR(50)),A253),2) where A253 contains the string. Is it possible to use a logical argument within a find?
