Formula To Return Value In A Cell Relative To Another Linked Cell?

The problem I am trying to solve is to have a cell return a cell value based on another linked cell. The cells I want to link are in separate tabs or could be another workbook.

For example if cell A5 in sheet2 is linked to A20 in sheet1...A5 has formula(=Sheet1!A20). I want the next cell B5 to look at A5 and return the value of cell Sheet1!D18.

So in essence I want the second cell to look at the first cell and return a value that is 3 columns over and 2 rows up.

I have been trying to set up one cell that contains the formula and then the remaining totals below are linked to this cell. Thus I change the formula in the top cell all the other totals also change.

I have 8 columns of data, the first 4 and the last four columns have the values which correspond to each other.. Here is an example:

VALUES(A to D)NAMES(A to D)
ABCDABCD
1.3451641.3383581.286221.359808321325370391

So value 1.345164 corresponds to 321 and 1.28622 to 370. I need a function that will return a value from one of the VALUES columns which corresponds to the second smallest cell value from the NAMES columns. For example – here the second smallest number in NAMES column is 325 so the function would return the corresponding value of 1.338358.

I'm importing comma delimited files into Excel. These files will contain formulas, but do not know on which row they will end up in once imported. My formula's need to reference the row they have been pasted to. For example, If I paste the formula on Row 2 the formula would be =A2+B2

Row 3 =A3+B3

However, since these formulas are coming in via a non-excel file, I need the cell reference to be dynamic. Something along the lines of =A#+B# where # would be interpreted by Excel as the current row the formula is on. (I know that '#' isn't correct.)

Relative Cell Reference In Hyperlink Formula

I have a list of University courses listed in Sheet1. Column A contains a unique course code. If there is a problem with a course, a second worksheet (called Anomalies) contains the same unique course code with description of the problem(s).

What I'm trying to do is: in Sheet 1, create a hyperlink to the relative cell in Sheet 2 that shows the course code and description. I've gotten close, but am not sure how I can do this without having to update two formulas. In short, I can't find a way to combine the two formulas.

What I've done is the following: in Sheet 1, column B, created a HYPERLINK formula, thus: =HYPERLINK("#"&CELL("address",INDIRECT(C54)),A54)

Column C contains a formula to lookup the relative position in the Anomalies worksheet, which can be referenced back to the HYPERLINK formula, thus:
=("Anomalies!A"&MATCH(A54,Anomalies!A:A,0))

Sheet1 is fairly static, but Sheet2 (Anomalies) is being updated all the time. I could just hide column C and then column B will update based on that, but I'd prefer a cleaner solution.

I've tried joining the two formulas, by replacing the INDIRECT part with the second formula, as per the following: HYPERLINK("#"&CELL("address","Anomalies!A"&MATCH(A54,Anomalies!A:A,0)),A54)
but I get an error.

I'm basically looking for something almost like an inverse function to INDIRECT. This function would first look at a cell's formula as a text string, parse out the first valid cell reference in A1 format, and return that cell as a text string.

Detail: I have a spreadsheet with cells that point to other values. I would like to get only the row number from the first cell reference in the formula residing in a given cell. For example:

Suppose A1 has the formula =AL267. and A2 has the formula =SUM(AL94:AL235)

I would like a formula in B1 that returns the text string, "AL267" so that I would know this is the first reference.

Ideally it could be dragged down to B2 such that it returns the text string "AL94" (and not "AL235") because AL94 is the first cell reference in A2's

Currently I am copying the formulas after hitting ctl+` and pasting that text into a text editor, followed by text operations to manipulate the results into the desired values. Any solution that didn't involve going out to notepad.

Below is my code which isn't formatting the cells it's suppossed to. It looks like it isn't doing anything. I think the issue might be with the highlighted section of my code, but when I go to "Manage" my rules for conditional formatting, excel references the appropriate cell under the "Applies to" section. I am using relative cell references for for the majority of the rest of the code and this section follows a section that selects the correct cell for this conditional format.

Excel 2007 :: Checkbox Linked Within Cell Value Will Show Up When Cell Value Searched

I have this worksheet with 2 buttons and 2 textboxes.the first button is named search literally to search the items inputted in the textboxes and the second button is clear which clear all the inputted items in the textboxes and the search field. I manage to code those things however I have a main problem. How am I suppose to linked a checkbox with those items?

For example I searched this particular item so the checkbox corresponding to that item must show up in the left most column of it. and if I searched multiple items those checkboxes must show up too. I am having a hard time coding and trying since I am new in vba. I also attached a sample worksheet. I am using excel 2007.

I am trying to create conditional formating of a cell based on the value of another cell whish is linked to another sheet. I an using the "The formula is =$AA$30=1" where the cell AA30 is the cell linked to the other sheet. the problem is I have to do thiss for approx 200 cells ie =$AA$30=1, =$AB$30=1, =$AA$31=1, =$AB$31=1 --- =$AZ$42=1. which works fine but I have been trying to amend it so that it returns the last but one cell in a row. Have tried using it with Offset but without success.

Have found other solutions to finding to the last cell in a row albeit that a number of them do not seem to work with my project and likewise none of them seemed to allow customisation of any sort.

How To Follow A Cell From A Linked Cell

I have two sheets.

On sheet one (named Master) I have:

Apples
Cantaloupes
Bananas

On sheet two (named Customer) I have the following formulas

='Master'!A1
='Master'!A2
='Master'!A3

Now, if I install a filter in the Master sheet, and sort alphabetically the link formulas on sheet two remain the same, and because of that, in sheet two they would be in alphabetical order as well. BUT what if I wanted the links on sheet two to follow the actual cell in the master sheet, so that even after a sort, the links on sheet 2 would show the same values, so the formulas on sheet two would end up looking like this (DESPITE being sorted on the master sheet)

='Master'!A1
='Master'!A3
='Master'!A2

Basically I would want the linked cells on sheet 2 to represent a static value no matter where it was moved to on the static sheet.

In column A in sheet 1 I have a list of ID (starting in cell A2), the Id's are repeated and a new Id first appears in cell A30, repaeting the pattern the next new Id is in cell A58. This goes on in the pattern to around cell 44,000. All I want to do is write a formula in another sheet that enables me to have the cell value of A2 on the new sheet and in the next row of the new sheet to have the value of A30 and so on, until I have all the id's individually displayed on the new sheet.

After that I have data from the rest of the row (A2,B2,C2 etc) of sheet 1 in the following cells of the new sheet. After that I'm transposing data from column H of sheet 1 so it appears in the row of the new sheet against the ID's.

I have a column of imported data like this, with scattered blank cells:

I am doing a multiple regression where the above are independent variables. I usually have hundreds of variables in a column like this. Because each cell must have a value in it (the regression won't accept blanks), rather than manually fill the blank cells with a 0, I set up an adjacent column to convert the blanks to a 0 and regress off that column. But every formula I try still produces a blank in that adjacent column. I have tried things like: =IF(A1="",0,A1) but they do not work. I always get a blank in the adjacent column when the original cell is blank. Can't get a 0 in there.

i need to essentially find and replace udf's and the complication is rearranging the parameters in the udf's into a new formula structure.

so my question, is there an easy way to extract a parameter (or all parameters) from a function?

for example, if you had = SUM(A1,A2,A3:A6) you would return 'A1' as the first parameter, 'A2' as the second and 'A3:A6' as the third.

Obviously it gets complicated when you nest functions such as =SUM(IF(A2=1,0,A1),A3) etc and the if() function would be parameter 1.

I am trying to research formulas that will do this, and coming back with things like OFFSET, MATCH, INDEX but am not certain the best way to put them together to get what I need. Starting in cell B4, I would like to count how many weeks of Demand can be covered by the specific Available On Hands in row 3 for that week, put the number of "Weeks Covered" into cell B2, and then fill over to the right in row 2. Right now, the values in row 2 are from my own manual calculations, but I would like a dynamic formula that will sum up the values in row 4 up to (but not greater than) the value in B3, give the count of cells that reached that sum (or even better with decimals to show the percentage covered), which I will copy over into B3:B13. Not sure if that makes sense, or if I can explain in a better way. The yellow cells are what I am trying to create a formula for and am currently stuck.

I basically have this worksheet which has Cell D3 Being Dynamic. It puts the lowest cost supplier from columns H:W. If i change the prices in H:W it will bring up the lowest cost supplier in D3. Once D3 is chosen i want it to self populate F3 and G3 based off of what is in D3. This data should be pulled off from what is in the H:W columnns corresponding to the supplier in D3.
