i need a code that moves down a column and for every empty cell in the column the cell to the left is cleared and then it moves on to the next cell down. the column is not always the same and will start from a selected cell, and the column will contain no more than 5 rows

Is there a macro that will allow me to create text to row from a comma separated cell, but also associate the cell to its left automatically?

The table below exemplifies what I need. The top of the spreadsheet is how my data is currently. The portion after the break is how I would like it to be.

I'm having to re-learn formula commands in order to continue to use my spreadsheets (I had tried to get the Quattro Pro converter to work in Excel 2003 with no success). Actually, I would have stayed with QP since I find it much more user friendly, but with Excel being the standard spreadsheet that most people use, I figured I better get used to it. Anyway, I'm currently trying to find out how I might get the same text that shows up in varying cells in an otherwise blank column (other cells contain formulas, but no text) to also show up in another fixed cell (which can be where I put this formula).

Apply Conditional Formatting To A Cell When It Is Left BLANK

I'm trying to apply conditional formatting (shading) to cells that are left blank.

(Purpose: I am designing a research template for a client to complete with data and want the spreadsheet to show them where they've "missed a bit"!)

(When I go to the conditional formatting box, it asks me to specify when "cell value is"..."between/not between/equal to/not equal to" etc. But there's no option to specify when the cell is blank.)

rearragning text on excel. I believe Macro will be needed to solve this problem so if anyone can help me out, it will be a big help. Thank you.

Example 1:
I need to rearrange
"trace Silt, cm SAND, some- f Gravel" into
"cm SAND, some- f Gravel, trace Silt"

Example 2:
I need to rearrange
"some+ Silt, f SAND, trace- f Gravel" into
"f SAND, some+ Silt, trace- f Gravel"

There are many different cases for this problem. So if there is a way for the computer to recognize the Capitalized word and move it to the front and rest should be arange in order listed below.


each term is seprarated by commas.
For example
f SAND, some+ Silt, trace- f Gravel
each color represent one complete sentence. and the order for them should be capitalized funciton first, then the follow the order provided above.

I'm working with a datafeed and basically I have a column with the prices of each product in the same row. What I need to do is take the value in the price column and insert it in a specific spot of a different cell (but still on the row).

A1 = <b></b>
B1 = 29.99

How would I get that price information between those two bold tags, and do this for all the rows I have that contain specific price info to that row?

I have a lot of HTML in the line I want to bring the price over to and I have tried the following formula at the beginning cell of A1 ="<b>"&B1&"</b>" but I get an error.

If Blank Cells, Paint Yellow. If Cell To Left Is Less Than A Number, Don't Paint

I have a spreadsheet which contains 39 columns with a header row. The number of rows varies per spreadsheet. I'm running into a problem with highlighting(painting yellow) cells. Really the problem is selecting the cells to be highlighted. The macro is skipping some of my code completely and in other cases leaving some cells unhighlighted.

1. All blank cells in row AG should be painted yellow.

2. If column AF contains a cell with number 900 or greater, then the cell in AG (same row) should NOT be painted yellow.

3. All blank cells in rows AC and G should be painted yellow. Some spreadsheets may not contain blank cells.

Problem with the VB is not performing the code after the first command. It will highlight MOST of the cells in AG but for some reason it is leaving a few blank ones unhighlighted. The blank ones are usually at the bottom of the rows. I have no idea why it would miss these.

I believe the "ucase" tag is incorrect since its looking for a number but I am not sure what to put in its place and if I use something else should I dim it as ""?

I've attached an excel spreadsheet which contains a sample to this problem. I've also attached what it should look like if my code worked.

I'm trying to get a code that will do the following: I've got a list of stocks followed by extra information in de columns to the right of it. If, based on that extra information you'd like to know more about the stock, I'd like the user to just select the cell that holds the name, and click a button.

What this button should do is the problem for me right now: it needs to select the cell left to the one selected holding the name of the stock.
The cell to the left holds the code that is used to lookup information in Bloomberg. This cell is invisible to the user since I hide it to make the tool look good. How do I write a piece of code to select for instance: B10-1=A10. The rest is just a recording job.
Also, I know you can add text to the text in a cell, however in this case I want to cut some text. Is the any way to get: "B10-1"-"equity sedol1", leaving me with the text in A10 minus equity sedol1?

Return All Row Numbers That Have Given Value Written Somewhere Inside Text In Column B

By "Return all row numbers that have a given value written somewhere inside text in their column B" I mean....

I want to be able to search an alphanumeric value "ABC12345" within a column that has a paragraph of text written in each row, I want to know which rows have this value written somewhere in them and have it return 2,4,33, as row 2 and 4 and 33 have this value in them inside column B on that row.

on column A i have the respective row numbers all the way down ie: ( 1,2,3,4, etc) (to pull up the row numbers)(unless you have a better way)

On Column B i have the paragraphs of text to search in (there is lots of text and spaces in the paragraphs.)

On column C i have the value to look for... ie: ABC12345 (different values in each row of column C) to be compared to all of column B

On column D would be the formula to Pull down and get the results.

and something tells me you might have a better way of getting the row numbers rather than having column A dedicated to numerating each row 1,2,3,etc

Find Last Cell In Column And Paste Formula In Next Blank Cell Then Repeat On Remaining Columns

I need a macro to find the last cell in the column, then copy the formula to the next blank cell. Then, it goes back to the last cell (above) and paste's values. Then, go to the next column and repeat the process. I can do this but have to call each cell separatly...however, I would like to do it in a loop to simplify things. It would be great to even be able to just set the start and ending columns. Here is my current code:

Trying to create a button that, once clicked performs the following task:

Checks whether the text in a cell in the column X2:X40 matches the text in a cell in the Range A2:U14.

If it does, the formatting of the cell in X2:X40 (eg background) must change to match that of the corresponding cell in A2:U14.

Only 1 cell in the range will match 1 cell in the column

For example:
Before click:
Cell A9 has "John" written in it and a yellow background
Cell X4 has "John" written in it and a clear background

During click:
matches these cells
changes X4 so that it also has a yellow background

After click:
Cell A9 has "John" written in it and a yellow background
Cell X4 has "John" written in it and a yellow background

I have a column that is giving unwanted value . dont know the reason as that excel file has been created by some other guy and I just started working on it .

My Question is how to move to 2 cells left(A for example) from from that unwanted value column. and check if
A is equal to cell above it , means B Cell(Row above A but same column).

Im working on creating a search box. In the box the user will input text, when the cell is blank, i would like it to say "WUC or Nomenclature". and once they select the cell, and start typing it removes (which is how excel works anyways) Cell D3 is the search box. While trying to figure this out on my own I have came to the simple formula of



in (H3). Which creates the effect I desire but in the wrong cell. I've tried applying this to conditional formatting but Im not sure if conditional formatting is designed for this purpose. Not sure if its even possible using forumulas. Perhaps using VBA, but we have limitations on VBA on our work computers and while I can do some, the end users have to enable it, which they never remember to do.

I have a data in a column B, from B17 to B1000. the data looks like:


I want to get the last non-blank cell (in the previous example = 10), and the one before it (20), and the one before it (16).I mean I want the last three non-blank cells. I used =INDEX(B17:B1017,MATCH(9.99999999999999E+307,B17:B1017)) to bring the last non-blank cell. I'm using excel 2003, but it's OK to use Excel 2007 if it will solve the problem.
