How Can I Compare Strings To A Keyword List And Return A 3rd Value

I am trying to create my own budgeting tool. I have most of the tracker set up but I hit a stumbling block. I downloaded transations from Bank of America as a CSV file into excel. I want to categorize these transactions.
I created a keyword list that has words like "Starbucks" "Exxon" etc. Each of these keywords is then listed next to a category like "food" and "gas". So I want a formula that will compare the transactions to my keyword list and return the category type. Here is an example transaction:
CHECKCARD 0256 STARBUCKS USA 00029801 GAINESVILLE VA
I have a keyword "Starbucks" in f2 and "food" in g2.

how to Chk the text string in particular cell, compare it with a super set column and get the full from of the text string from another corresponsing column and the output will be corresponsing full form of the chked text string?

I have an excel worksheet with about 10K rows of data in column A.
I have also another list of data, about 200 rows of data, in column G.
I need to color each cell in column A that contains, anywere in the string, any of the data strings in column G.
Example:
in column A
row 1: info@duende.com
row 2: rasko@silvester.com
row 3: supportonline@fabius.com
row 4: myhelp@friday.com
in column G:
row 1: help
row 2: info
row 3: support
I need rows 1, 3 and 4 in column A to be colored.

i'm writing a few VB subs to help manage a database of mishaps, solutions and lessons learned, there are 11 columns and each databade entry has a separate row, there are approximately 1,000 rows.
Columns are:
ID- a unique iderntifier for each entry- integer
Date- date the entry was made- date
Project Number- a reference to an internal project file- string
Operator- company we were working for- string

I've got an Excel document with over 323 entries and I need to search the data to find where ever a certain keyword is mentioned and copy the entire row into a separate sheet within the same workbook. However, I have a list of around 323 keywords and there is AND condition as well.so doing this using Ctrl+F would take some time.
The data is in Sheet "Training Dataset" and the particular column that needs to be searched is Column "A" . "Training Dataset" is the sheet where I would like the found results to be copied to in the column B and C. The list of Keywords that need to be searched for are located in Sheet "Keywords" , starting from Cell C and D.

I'm looking to identify a keyword in a string and then replace that string with just the keyword.
The string is a product description. The keyword is a product group. The keyword can showup in any position in the string.
I can't post the actual data do to confidentiality requirements. but here's an example.

I have a large keyword list
lets say it's 25,676 keyword phrases all in ColA (Always from A3 downwards).
I delete rows as I'm sorting so the number does very.
The sheet tab is always called "All KWs" (For All Keywords Not surprisingly)
What I would like is a macro that does the following.
Can it look at all the keyword phrases on sheet "All KWs" in ColA (From A3 downwards and make a list on a new sheet of just unique keywords from the list.
This sheet will be called "Unique keywords"
So, can it return on this sheet called "Unique keywords" all the unique keywords from the large list in ColA (From A3 downwards) on the sheet "All KWs".
If it can return only unique words and numbers etc, removing all duplicates.
If it can do this From A3 downwards.....

What I'm trying to achieve is the following;
I have a big keyword list saved in Excel.
Something like the following,
These are all keyword phrases;
car rent
car hire
cars for rent uk
etc etc etc
All listed in Column A
All phrases in Column A, and in separate rows.(1 phrase per row.)about 2000 lines (Rows) in total.
What I want to know is there any way of selecting the whole list and exporting it (To save it as another list. A list of just unique keywords?
So, It would create a list like;
car
rent
uk
hire
for
etc etc etc.
So basically I want excell to look at all the words and export them to another list showing just unique keywords, 1 per line.
This is so I can see from a huge list what all the unique keywords are.
Is there a way of doing this within Excel Now?? or has someone made a plugin ( Macro) to achieve this?
I've looked at the sort & filter options, but it doesn't appear to have this function?

I have a workbook called Keyword that has two columns c,and d, of words.
The length of the columns can vary,because I add words to them.
I also have a workbook called testfile, and cell B1 has a word in it.
Testfile also has an .xla module that adds in when testfile is open.
I want to type a function called asset in cell C1 of Testfile,and have
it compare each word in Keyword workbook to the word that's in cell B1
of testfile. If a match is found in column C of Keyword, the function
returns the letter C. If match is found in col D of Keyword, it returns
the letter D. If no match, function returns "no match".
I have both workbooks open and the vba code I stuck at the bottom of
the .xla module as another function.
Here's my code so far.

I have two numbers, they are version numbers, I am having problems with my If then else and elseif statements.
59821 for version 5.9.8.2.1
is more than
5983 for version 5.9.8.3
even though 5.9.8.3 is a greater version number. Do you see where my problem is. How do I compare # by # reading it, checking to see what one is bigger and going from there. so when it gets to the 3 of the 5983 its bigger than 2 of 5982 of the 5.9.8.2.1

I am having no success using either: 1) COUNTIF with wildcard (*) or 2) Case Statements to find text strings in a cell. I've even tried using Copy/Paste Special values to change the way Excel 2007 interprets the field.
The Do While loop looks at target cells in Col. 18 which contains one or more specific last names. I want to put a text string (also a name) in Col. 19 IF the target cell contains the last name in the COUNTIF or Case Statements. The COUNTIF normally puts a TRUE or FALSE based on the condition, but I'd like to put the the last name based on which condition is met and then continue looping to Row 3. It's a small number of rows, less than 100.

Im needing to search through the attached document which is truck logs at a mine and use vba to search through the list for each of the different shovels eg SHVL1, SHVL2 & SHVL3, and when the code finds that string, to display the tonnage 2 colums back from it. Im about half way there a i think but am having trouble with strings, if it was numbers i could do it no problem

I need a formula or array to perform the following in Excel 2010:
I have 2 worksheets "Master Report" and "Free text comments". The master report will be shaed with individuals but the Free Text comments worksheet will not.
sample feedback report.xlsx
In cells D2 downwards on the "Master Report" I want to show the individual feedback comments from the "Free Text comments" worksheet that have been made by other people for the individual named in cell A2 on the "Master Report" worksheet. So on James' master report it would show the 8 individual comments listed for him on the Free text comments" worksheet.
I have searched the internet and tried various combos of lookups, IFs, index and match but have not come across the right formula yet.

I have hundreds of records of customer info and I am trying to categorize the job titles so that I can conduct some analysis with a pivot table. My problem is that there is about 20 different ways and variations of "manager" so Instead of autofiltering for "mrg." "Manager" "marketing manager" ect. and then replacing the text manually and using the enter and fill process (to create some standardization to compare "manager" to "director" to "c-level" to "consultant", etc.) and repeating this process over and over again...
I would like to create a VBA that would search the column "job title" for multiple text strings at once and if the text string was true in the cell then the cell would be replaced by a new text string "Manager". I was thinking a series of if functions within one vba but I am not sure if this is possible.

Need to do (preferrably as a UDF so I can call it many times and build the macro I really need) the following string testing macro. For a given column (B) - look to the field immediately to the left for a text string. This string will be searched for a list of other strings contained in Column D ( cells D1:D5). We want a case insenstive SEARCH (or find I suppose in macro terms) to return a true if the strings are found or false if it is not. Example test string in cell B1 would be:
I am a string of test data to check.
Terms in D1:D5 might be:
dog
cat
bird
data
fowl
Cell B1 should return a TRUE as a match.

I am trying to match some strings, to see if an entry is already included in a master list or not. I'm running into problems with some cells that have the EXACT same string, from what I can tell (a text ticker symbol) yet a MATCH or VLOOKUP won't return anything. Has anyone ever encountered anything like this? Worksheet attached with an example

I sent this before but the formula I was given wasn't correct (as you will see from the file). In Column B of the second sheet (Data) of the attached file, I want to bring back the relevant name form the first sheet (List), which involves searching through the long descriptions from column A on the Data sheet for the name on the List sheet.

I have two columns with the same data type (text) and I want to compare one column to another and if they match, return the data from another column.
For example: I have 2 columns of names on separate Excel files. One file contains name and phone numbers, while the other doesn't. I want to compare the names from file one with file two and if the names match, return the corresponding phone number in a new column.
I've tried VLOOKUP and IF statements, but I can't get it to come out.

Basically I have 19 buildings each with a separate bill of quantities. I'm looking to compare and compile a comprehensive list. So that duplicate items in different buildings can be compared side by side.

I'll quote the example straight away.
Col A Col B
A,S,F A,S
A,R,S A,R,S,T and so on.
There is no fixed pattern for the values, but they are separated by commas only. All i need is to compare col A and col B and return me the value in Col C like this,
Col C (col C is to know the removed value from comparison)
F (for line 1)
Col D (to find the letters that are added from comparison)
T (for line 2)
