So there is a bill number with multiple rates. I want to find out the minimum rate for each bill number (for 1715 it is 500 and so on). Whats the easiest way to give a formula for each bill so it does it automatically? I know of SUMIF and COUNTIF but how to "MINIF"?!
I am working on creating a spreadsheet that can be updated by those unfamiliar to excel. I have a master list on one sheet and three separate lists for business, individual, and general. Each list has three columns giving name, address and postal code. There are numerous repeats on these lists and I wanted to hide any duplicates while keeping my cells aligned. So far I have been able to highlight any duplicates, but was interested in some function that would save at least one duplicate while hiding any additional ones.

I have time (T) as a common variable located in cells A1:A9000. I also have two large data sets in columns B and C (cells B1:B9000 and C1:C9000). If I put them into an X,Y Scatter chart it is easy to see that at some point in time (perhaps around cell A3000) the slope in data set B will begin to rise and eventually the two curves will cross. I would like to find the intercept point and/or an estimate of that point (if it does not exist in the data set) and have the corresponding time reported in a set cell.

What I'm attempting to do is find what are the CLOSEST four indicator prices in data set #1 are above (r1, r2, r3, r4) and below (s1, s2, s3, s4) the closing price in data set #2. Also, I can only use the indicator numbers in data set #1 that are on or before the close price date in data set #2. Because of this, not all of the r's and s's will be filled in.
I would like to use just regular excel formulas, but I have a feeling that VBA may be my only option.
I am working with data where I need to extract a 10-digit number from a string. Where the 10-digit number is in the string varies, so I can't use a simple left/len combination. Here's an example below:

This finds the first number in a string and returns that number and the next 9 digits for a total of a 10-digit string (so it would return 1234567890). However, I run into an issue when I have a string that has numbers in the email address.
So this:

123@me.comIs there a way to modify the formula above so that it searches for 10 consecutive numbers and not just the first number in a string?
I am attaching a worksheet for which I need to calculate "National Points". I need to select 5 lowest values from "Tech" and "Speed" (Row 3 headings) events to the left of the totals column but a minimum of three "Tech" values need to be used. I have used the min, small 2, small 3 for the "Tech" set then used an IF statement for the fourth value. The formula returns the correct sum for values up to the fourth value. The problem comes on the fifth value. It seems to depend on if the 4th and 5th value come from the "Tech" events or "Speed" events. I have calculated the values manually and am unable to get them to correspond all the time. Can anyone help?

The dollar amount is in the hundreds of thousandths and the number is in the hundreds. I want to have two verticle axis. one on the left hand side for the dollar and one on the right side for the number.
There are two sets of values.
The first one are located at Sheet1(a2.a6) and Second one are at Sheet2(A1.A1000). how I can write a VBA code to find the First value in Second set of values. If it found in second set, Sheet1.B1 will be entered as the found value from Second set of value otherwise "NOt found".
This task should go till the no of values in first set (in this example five times)
I am trying to create a line graph to show the trends (up or down) of I-Fund vs Gold. The trouble I am having is how to set the axis. The date one is an easy one, but the gold range is more or less 800-1000, and the I-Fund is 13-18. How can I have these both on the same graph to compare? I am attaching an Excel sheet as a reference. Obviously I need to delete the empty IFund cells.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am a absolute newbie to VBA, I've got 2 timetables, they show deliveries for different countries. I need to make my code as DYNAMIC as I can. TableCustomer shows the customer's name, country and their opening times, Saturday - Friday, it uses 1s and 0s to determine if they are open or closed, 1 = open, 0 = closed, so the headers are: Customer Name, Country, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday etc.
TableCompany shows the days of deliveries made to each country by the company, using 1s and 0s, 1 = Deliver, 0 = Don't deliver. The headers are Country, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday etc. An example here is that, if in TableCustomer, the customer is opened(1) on a Saturday, but in TableCompany, the company does not deliver(0) to that country on the Saturday, change that 1 into a 0 in TableCustomer. But if the Customer is closed(0) on the Saturday, then don't change the value 0, because the company will not be able to deliver to them anyway, even if they can deliver to that country on that day.
I know you can take a number from one cell and combine it with number from another cell and make it one number. What I need to do is the reverse. Take a two digit number in a cell and separate it into single digits in two cells. If you have the number 50 in a cell, then is there a formula that will take the 5 and put it in cell and take the 0 and put it in the cell beside it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a column of numerical values: fields a1 to a10. Then, I have four fields – c1 to c4 – in which I want sums of some chosen values from column a to be summed up. Eg., c1 is to be a2+a3+a9, c2 is to be a4, c3 is void, c4 is a1+a8. The other a fields are ignored, and no a field will be counted twice. Now, I want to put something –*a letter or a number or so –*into the fields b1 to b10, that makes the aforestanding value sum up to a certain field in column c. Like, I put a "1", or maybe an "a", into b2 and b3 and b9, and that makes a2, a3, and a9 sum up to c1. So I'd need something that says: if this cell is "1", add the value in the cell to your left to the sum that makes the value in c1. As you can tell by my writing, I'm no geek in these matters.

The value in A1 could range from a 3 to 9 digit value.
Below is a series of sets. Column A is the set number. I need a macro that will insert a row between sets and then put a border around each set. In my spreadsheet the sets are from A1:C500. Sometimes the sets are only 1 row, sometimes multiple rows. It looks like I will be doing one of these sheets every week. So far I have been doing it manually, but a macro sure would save some time.

All variables in the calculation are positive integers.
We take each integer of the pro number and multiply it by a value and sum them to get a total.
An Example: 8 Digit Pro Number: 66988757
Pro Number: 6 6 9 8 8 7 5 7
Position in the Pro Number: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
Multiply each digit in the pro number by (10-position) in the number, to achieve a sum.
Using our example pro again:
6*(10-1) + 6*(10-2) + 9*(10-3) + 8*(10-4) + 8*(10-5) + 7*(10-6) + 5*(10-7) + 7*(10-8)
6*9 + 6*8 + 9*7 + 8*6 + 8*5 + 7*4 + 5*3 + 7*2
54+ 48+ 63+48+40+28+15+14 = 310
Take the Sum of the previous calculation and divide it by 11
310/11 = 28
(Actually, it's 28.181818, but since we're working with integers, we truncate everything behind the decimal).
Figure a remainder by multiplying the quotient by 11 and subtracting from the sum.
Remainder = 310 - (28*11) ---> Remainder = 310 - 308 ----> Remainder = 2
Check Digit = 11- Remainder
Check Digit = 11 - 2 ---> Check Digit = 9
Note: if the check digit is 10 or 11, need to subtract 10 from the Check Digit.
I have a column of 6 digit numbers in excel, and I need to remove the last digit from each number, turning it into a 5 digit number. No rounding, just simply remove the last digit. View 4 Replies View RelatedI need a macro where I can highlight a column and change all of the 2 digit years to a 4 digit year (actually, some of the 2 digit years are only 1 digit, e.g. "9" instead of "09").
I have an if then statement that I can use in the column after it, but I'd rather change the actual numbers in the original column, rather than adding another column (and having to keep the original, too).
The statement I had was:
=if(A1>=50,1900+A1,2000+A1)
I just copy dragged down to get the cell numbers for the rest of the column... but using A1 was just for an example, here, it's not necessarily going to be in that column. It needs to be just whichever cells I select.
It seems like it should be pretty simple, but I don't know how to word it in a macro.

I have an address (city, state, zip format) in a cell. Some of the zip codes only have a 4-digit zip code which is the way the file was received. I know these zip codes have leading zero. How can I convert these to a five-digit code. Examples are as follows:
Waltham MA 2453
convert to 'Waltham MA 02453'
Boston MA 2210
convert to 'Boston MA 02210'
CEDAR GROVE, NJ 7009-1174

I have 2 digit years (98, 99, 00, 01) that I need to convert to 4 digit years (1998, 1999, 2000, 2001). There is one year per cell. If it was simply a matter of adding 19 or 20 to the beginning of each, I could do that. But since there's a combination of both 19 and 20 that needs to be added and there all intermingled, I'm not sure how to do it.
Can a rule be written to add 19 to the beginning except if the current cell starts with a 0, then add 20? The highest year is 2008 (no 2010 to deal with).
Example:
98 --> 1998
99 --> 1999
00 --> 2000
01 --> 2001
I am trying to find some missing values compared to 6 base values. For instance, I have a sheet with some names translated to another language, I am trying to find the languages some names have not been translated too.
For example, if I have six languages, Arabic, Japanese, Russian, Chinese-Simplified, Chinese- Traditional, and Korean to compare too, I want to find any names that are not translated in certain languages.

The idea is to add compare the cells of the first column with the third column. Where same letters/words exist, the corresponding value of the first column should be added to the second column (where no letter exists equally, the space remains empty), so it will look like this

AA1122
B222
C333
D444
the third column always will have at least the same letters as the first column, but new letters/entries can occur.
compare some list of values in order to fiind the common values.

I used this exact (as far as I can tell) formula to find the sum of values that were NOT equal to my quoted values and it worked just fine. Any ideas why formula 'A' will not work but formula 'B' does work? I have a feeling I'm missing something simple here!

How do you write an excel macro that looks at the number in the first column (day #) and finds all the duplicate id#s in the second column that are in day 1and adds the amounts together in the 3rd column then writes the first column number (day#), second column number(id#) and the third column (sum of the amounts of duplicate Id#) to an new worksheet. Then the macro would loop through day #2 and do the same thing. Notice that the values in the id column are unique in this data set below this is how I would like the data to look. I have accomplished this in a pivot table but my problem is I need a cvs file to export the final data into an external database which is why I need a macro.....
I have x coordinates in column 1 with coresponding y coordinates in column 2. From my data of x,y coordinates I want to find points with similar y values. In my data I have defined groups of numbers, i.e. I have a set of numbers with y values around 30 (+-10), then a new group with y values around 60 (+-10), and so on... Sometimes the groups are not totaly separeted, there could be a few points with y values between 30 and 60. These points can be grouped with the closest group of coordinates (30 or 60). Each group of x,y coordinates could be copypasted in the columns to the right (columns 3 and up).
So what I want to do is find a group of coordinates. This group will have at least 40 individual points +-10 from a group mean. The coordinates need to be sorted out from the data and put in seperate columns.
I have two sets of data for students. One set contains all the students with certain test scores, taking up columns A to N. The other set contains about 80% of those same students with a different set of test scores. Students are sorted by ID numbers. How do I combine the second set into columns O to V so that student ID numbers match and it inputs the rest of the student data into the sheet.
I know there will be some blanks because not all students will be there but I need them to match up, even with the blanks.

I am trying to merge my boss's contacts. He has one enormous set of contacts in GMail (5000+) and one enormous set of contacts in Excel (5000+) I've exported both sets into excel but how to I merge them?
The headers for each set are in a slightly different order (Home Address, Office Address, Email ...vs.....Office Address, Home Address, Email) Do I need to make sure the order of the headers match in both the GMail Sheet and the Outlook Sheet and is there a faster way to do that than just rearranging them manually?
My second question is how do I merge them? There are a lot of over-laps of people but some info might be different in Outlook than in GMail. For example I might have John Smith as a contact in both Gmail and Outlook but two different email addresses for him under the header "Email 1" how do I make sure one email doesn't eliminate the other? I just want to merge both sets of contact info for each person into one super contact.
