I am having troubles finding a row number, using it to specify a range and then counting the cells containg values in that range.
This is what I have
Code:
Private Sub TextBox1_Change()
Dim test1 As String
Dim FoundRom As Range
Dim i as String
Dim abc1 As Range
Dim Core1 As String
test1 = TextBox1.Value
[Code] ........
I am thinking that I have my "Dim"'s wrong or something but I cant figure out how to define the range including the found row number and then count the number of cells containing data within that range...
I have one master worksheet with 1000 ID's. I also have 10 other spreadsheets with 1000 ID's. I need my macro to use the master worksheet and identify where the IDs are located among the 10 spreadsheets. If there is a match, then my macro should copy the entire row and place it in an output file (another spreadsheet).
The following code only tests the master worksheet and three other sheets (one being null/error is ID not found).
Sub Macro5()
'
' Macro5 Macro
Dim Raw, Mix1, Mix2, error As Excel.Worksheet
Set Raw = Sheets("RAW_DATA")
Set Mix1 = Sheets("Mix1")
Set Mix2 = Sheets("Mix2")
Set error = Sheets("error")
Raw.Select
For x = 1 To 1000
For y = 1 To 1000
If Raw.Cells(x, 1) = Mix1.Cells(y, 1) Then.................
I want an easy way to crop to my selected cells, can this be done in Excel?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a set of data with trailing Y in certain cells.
Instead of the replace function in Excel, is there another way of removing the "Y" in that cell and storing it another cell while keeping the numbers before the Y.
i've created another column to determine which cells has Y as the right most character by using =IF(RIGHT(F2,1)="Y","Y","")
So for example, I want to remove the Y from say Cell A2 and store it in say cell A3 while still keeping the value 8624.46 in A2
Cell A2 = 8624.46Y
I have a excel 2007 workbook that has 5 sheets "MASTER" , "RED" , "WHITE", "GOLD" & "BLUE". There are 7 columns in each sheet and the master has about 8,000 rows . In column D of each sheet there is a unique number (approx. 8 - 10 digits ) that I would like to at the press of a command button search through sheets "RED" "WHITE" "GOLD" & "BLUE" against the unique numbers in the "MASTER" sheet and if there any duplicates numbers delete the entire row but leave all the data in the master sheet.

Dxxx1
Dxxx2
Dxxx3

xxx3
xxx4
I'm trying to set a data validation in B1 from values in A1:A5.
A1: Car
A2: Papers
A3: Pencil
A4: Pants
A5: Shoes
What I want is show in dropdown list the words in singular (without the "s" at the end).
The formula below works if I introduce it in a normal cell,
[Code]....
or as array formula with CRTL+SHIFT+ENTER in this way
[Code] .....
But I get the message that the formula has error when I introduce any of both in "Validation Criteria"-->Allow "List"-->Source.
I am using this code to remove a row if string is found, however, I would like to know how can I set it to do the same for all the worksheet in the same excel?

I have a file that I want a code to look for certain data and when found move the row to another sheet. The code needs to look at the active sheet because the name of the sheet will be different everytime I use it. It will also need to create another sheet named 'Online' that these rows are moved to.
The code will need to look for data that begins with either OAP, MCP, CPP, F4P, VAP, VWP, ITP and MEP. These will be followed by numbers i.e MCP123456. Once these are found I need the entire row removed to the created sheet.
The columns that these numbers will be in will vary on each file I use it on so it needs to look at the entire sheet rather than specific columns.
Also any cell that has data that begins with either MH and JD followed by 6 numbers that row needs deleting completely.
I use currency data pasted from legacy program that pastes dollar values followed by a C or D to represent debit and credits, ie -- 1,000,000.00C or 1,000,000.00D.
Is there some way to remove the letter and correctly format the value to a negative or positive number on a whole worksheet or column?
Currently I am doing this manually one cell at a time.
I need a formula to use on MS Excel 2007 to remove the English letters from a cell A1 and return only the numbers(if any) & Chinese characters to B1.
Please refer to the able below.
Example:
A
B

View 2 Replies View Relatedhow to write code that would remove a leading zero (if there is a leading zero) from each cell in a column that looks like this:
05-15975
05-35473
07-45975
56-48993
56-49486
I know that using regular expressions would work but I don't know how to implement this. The column will always be column 'C' in my spreadsheets. I already have other code which is executed when I click a 'Process' button that relies on this column having no leading zeroes for it to work, hence I need to add in code that will make this change.

View 5 Replies View RelatedCurrently use this macro (see below) but occasionally I have more rows than 842. I could increase to 10000 and this would work but looking for a more automated macro that will automatically remove duplicates from all rows i.e. a macro that works out all rows.
Sub copyTab()
Cells.Select
Selection.Copy
Sheets("filtered_data").Select
Range("A1").Select
ActiveSheet.Paste
Columns("A:A").Select
Application.CutCopyMode = False
ActiveSheet.Range("$A$1:$J$842").RemoveDuplicates Columns:=1, Header:=xlYes
End Sub
I have a spreadsheet that was given to me from an outside source, and a lot but not all of the cells (seem to be random) have links associated with them so that if you click a cell, it opens a new internet browser window directing to the link. Is there a way for me to remove every single one of these links without having to go cell by cell looking for each one ?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI need my macros to search for the word "Cancel" or "Cancelled" in columns "T" and "U". Once found, I need the macros to make that entire row an opaque shading.
There will be other wording in these cells that contain "Cancel" or "Cancelled". Is it possible for the macros to search in the sentence and find the words "Cancel" or "Cancelled"
I started on the code below but am stuck.
I would like to change a number to a letter and then drop a digit from the end.
Say my data in A1 reads 81234568, and I would like it to display in cell A2 as h123456.
When I type a single lower case letter into a cell, what formula or conditional formatting should I use to always convert it to a capital letter automatically?
View 9 Replies View RelatedFor the below formula is it possible to replace the B's (column location) with a cell Say Z146 which contains the letter B (or a number if thats easier and someone can tell me the numbers for each column).
When the formula is dragged into the next cell (down) it takes its column reference from Z147 and then my life becomes so much easier.
=IF(INDEX('Overs-Unders'!B:B,MATCH($C145,'Overs-Unders'!$A:$A,0))"",INDEX('Overs-Unders'!B:B,MATCH($C145,'Overs-Unders'!$A:$A,0)),"")
I need to change a few hundred cells (one column) where the first letter may be a capital letter to a lowercase letter.
So:
GetAwardfromBid to getAwardFromBid
or
SmallLertter to smallLetter
I want to catch an error and reset the entire code to the very beginning and skip that entire entry. When I use "Next fieldSheetName" I get "Next without For," error 1004. Searches tell me I have an open block somewhere, but that's not true. Removing that statement (and having the loop iterate as normal) has no error at all.
Dim employeeName As String
Dim fieldMax, x, y As Byte ' Counters mostly
Dim workedHours, fieldSheetName As Integer
fieldMax = 204 ' Row number to stop on in the field time sheet
row = 4 ' Row specification for field time sheet. Begin at row 4 to ignore headers
' and start on the first name. This should not be changed!
Col = 3 ' Start at column 3 then increase by one to start going to next time entry
' RESET HERE!
For fieldSheetName = 4 To fieldMax Step 8 ' This is our MAIN loop. It iterates from 0 to fieldMax, which is 204...........
I'm trying to autofill a series of rows (that are blank) with data from an above row. I want to autofill the row in its entirety, not just filling in blank cells.
For instance (assuming comma is a new column). Colors listed are just a data example. Space between commas indicates a blank cell:
142, RED, GREEN, , YELLOW, , BLACK, PURPLE
(blank row)
142, GREEN, RED, ,BLACK, , PINK, ,
(blank row)
(blank row)
(blank row)
154, YELLOW, BLACK, , GRAY, , PURPLE, RED
(blank row)
(blank row)
So rather than it just completing the task in one desired cell, it would complete the task over the entire spreadsheet. Data spread can be as far as row 500 and column BY, so you can see how a copy + paste or a drag would get monotonous.
Another small example data set:
1,1,1453,0,10,-35
(blank row)
(blank row)
0,0,1448,0, ,-35
(blank row)
1, ,1443,1,3,-36
1,2,1408,2,7, ,
(blank row)
(blank row)
(blank row)
1,2, ,2,7,-39
(blank row)
(blank row)
1,3,1344,1,10,31
And column A will always have data (unless the row is completely blank.
I want to apply Data Validation to a cell, so that only the following combination of letters and numbers can be entered.
Letter Letter Number Number Number Number Number Number Letter.
e.g AB123456C.
I have found a very useful UDF for removing non-alpha characters from strings. (See below, Credit for posting to Stanley D Grom - Ozgrid post Removing Non-alpha Characters From Text).
Option Explicit
Private Function RemoveCharacters(InString As String) As String
Dim intLoopCounter As Integer
Dim intStringLength As Integer
Dim intASCIIVal As Integer
intStringLength = Len(InString)
InString = LCase(InString)
For intLoopCounter = 1 To intStringLength
intASCIIVal = Asc(Mid(InString, intLoopCounter, 1))
If intASCIIVal >= 97 And intASCIIVal <= 122 Then
RemoveCharacters = RemoveCharacters + Mid(InString, intLoopCounter, 1)
End If
Next intLoopCounter
End Function
Two requests:
1. Could the UDF be modified such that any part of a string contained within brackets is also removed (e.g. "NLGA High Street (West-Enfield), EN6" becomes "nlgahighstreeten")?
2. Can an argument be added to the format of the UDF, such that numbers (0 to 9) are either included or excluded (e.g. RemoveCharacters(A1,1) where the argument 1 would include any numbers (0 to 9), so "NLGA2003 High Street (West-Enfield), EN6" becomes "nlga2003highstreeten6")? blankor 0would exclude these numbers, i.e. would return "nlgahighstreeten"
I would like to ask if this is possible, I attached the sample and the problem is there for better understanding of what i want to achieve.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI like the proper formula and find it handy, however do you know if there is a formula that would only keep the first letter in the cell at caps and reduce the rest to lower case, ie
A1 = MY DOG IS WHITE
proper(A1) = My Dog Is White
what I want is only first letter caps = My dog is white. I'va had a decent look around but can't find anything that would do this?
if it possible to produce a letter in excel like you would in word by mail merging.
i dont want to open word as i dont have it on my work pc.
im wondering if it possible to do something like this
dear ( sheet 1 cell 1 )
thank you for your order of ( sheet 1 cell 2 ) we wish to deliver to you on ( sheet 1 cell 3 )
=IF(R16="A",D11,IF(R16="B",G11,IF(R16="C",J11,IF(R16="D",M11,IF(R16="E",P11,0)))))
i want to replace the letter A,B,C,D,E, with numbers from 1-5.
When I take of the """" and replace the letter with the numbers the formula does not work.
