BUT, I am getting an error when running it. On the "For i" line. And I know just enough VBA to be dangerous. Can someone help?
I have another code setup to run if a certain cell equals "October" then it calls ImportData. Then this code is supposed to pull all files out of My documents/TechConnect/October08 and place the data into sheet 1....
This code works well when I run it saved as an .xls. When I save the file as a template and then try to run it bombs on the very last line.

I am getting an error when I protect a worksheet and save it. Upon re-opening the worksheet, I try to use the cells that are being formatted by a macro, but I get the following error...
Run-time error '1004':
Unable to set the NumberFormat property of the Range Class.
If I open the worksheet and it is already protected from when I last closed it, then I get the error. If I unprotect the sheet, then close it and reopen it, then I don't get the error. Does anyone know what I might be missing or doing wrong.
I am getting a "Run time error 5", "invalid procedure call or arguement" when I run a macro on a PC other tha the one on which it was created.
In this case both PC's are running on the version 2007 of Excel.

I have a CSV file and the first field is date. I'm imprting this csv file using Data->Import from Text When I do that it's adding an additional column at the left. I do not want it to add additional column what should I do?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Excel file with a table of data on Sheet1. The table of data has 3 fields which are Code (a Text field) , Date (a Date field) and Amt (a Number field). I'm using vba with sql code to query that table and return the results of the query to a different sheet in the same file. So just to reiterate, Excel is my data source. I've done my research and largely worked this code out.
I'm also plugging a date parameter into the WHERE CLAUSE of the vba/sql code and this date is drawn from cell D4. This way, the user can change the date in cell D4 and this will change the criteria in the WHERE clause of the sql query to give them the results they want.
However I am getting an error that reads 'Data type mismatch in criteria expression' when I run the below code, so there must be something wrong with the specific syntax I'm using to plug in the date from cell D4.
Note that I can get the code and parameter to work if I make the CODE field the parameter with the query definition line of :

I have a workbook which I regularly upload that cannot have macros within it; however, to update and process the data, I must utilize VBA Code.
I tried to work around this by storing my macros in a module in another workbook. My process is to have the VBA Code Module from the other workbook open and have the active workbook be the one I want to change, then I run the VBA Code from the other workbook.
This used to work. However, I am recently getting problems with the Code not running correctly. Sometimes it only runs the code if the affected cells are not hidden; other times it will not run the code at all!
I keep getting this windows script host error.

I use Google Spreadsheet to feed some data online. Later on I use Excel to import this data that it is hosted at Google to do a better handling (reports, charts, etc). However when I import the data from Google, the contents of 1 row is splitted on 4 in Excel.

I have a user form that builds a workbook from one template sheet and information in a SQL Server database. The template sheet contains 4 charts that are copied to every new sheet in the workbook, then their data ranges are set through VBA code. For a while the code was working wonderfully. All the necessary sheets were being generated and correctly populated.
Yesterday I added a new module to generate another sheet and pull data from the same SQL Server tables. Now if I run the userform it will work fine once and create all the needed sheets, and set all the charts to the proper ranges. However, if I delete all the created sheets and run the form again, I get:

The error consistantly occurs for the following line of Selection.Copy Destination:=Worksheets("Master").Range("D1")
After the error the selected range still shows up as surrounded by a selection box, but if I change sheets, the box moves to the new sheet. Also I cannot select any new cells in the work book. In order to get Excel to work again I have to End Task from the Task Manager just to get it to close. When I restart Excel and go back to my work book I get the same results, i.e. The form works great once, then Excel dies.
I have tried qualifing all of the objects that can be qualified. I have tried setting all possible varriables to Nothing before exiting my macros. Nothing I have tried, or found suggested so far in the forum works.

View 9 Replies View RelatedHere in our department we made a pretty elaborate macro that takes a report and sorts them out to 17 different sheets in a one workbook. This Macro pulls a file from a specific location on our server and then opens the CSV sorts it out color codes all the important information and saves it back onto the server under you specific initials.
They are four PC's along with our Managers laptop that run this Macro daily.
About 3 weeks ago my Managers laptop stops running the Macro completely and hangs in the middle of the whole thing. Eventually crashing Excel.
We try to remove the modules and re-import them back into the personal macro workbork but this does not work. The Macro's did not change and still fully function on the other four desktops to this day.
I uninstall Office on my Managers laptop and reinstall. Import the Modules again and still hangs up in very same spot it did 3 weeks ago.
I've tried to lower the macro security to the lowest level also and I've still had no luck with this laptop. I don't understand. The Macro's function perfectly on other PC's but will not function on this laptop.
I have a Sheet sheet1 and I want to run a macro when the cell D2 in Sheet1 is equal to 10,7,5,and 3. I only want this macro to run when those values are reached the macro then puts the data onto a sheet called wps. The macro is run as a module and is a sub macro.
I have only ever created macros in existing workbooks. Is there an easy way to copy a macro from one workbook to another, without having to run a new macro in the new workbook and then paste the code into it from the old workbook?

What if 2 or more xml files are present? The xml file filename ends with the date & time the file was generated, eg BPSEvent_10033_Tam_20140116124216
Can a code look for the oldest file to import based on the end of the filenaming format - yyyymmddhhmmss
Code to then delete the last xml file imported would be good too.
The following code (blue font) finds specific worksheets in an active workbook, and copies them into a new workbook then names the new workbook the same name of the worksheet. It all works perfectly.
The second code below (red font) imports some vb into the new workbook. It works fine if I manually open the new workbook and run it in the immediate window. However, I would like to incorporate the red code into the blue code so it all runs as one. I've tried inserting the red line after the "ws.copy after" line and after the ".saveas" line, but no dice.

I would like to have a macro that will allow me to browse to the desired file and import the data into columns. I have the macro working to the point of allowing me to browse, select the file, and pasting the contents into the active sheet.
The things that I need help with are:
1. Getting the data to paste into a specific cell instead of A1. Currently the code is
CELLS.SELECT
ACTIVESHEET.PASTE
I would like the data to start in A7.
2. Getting the file parsed into columns. The format of the .DAT file is static and only has 4 columns. Currently when it imports, the entire record (row) all of the data is in the same column. I would like it separated into individual columns if possible.
1. I've recorded a macro that imports values from 6 different .csv files at once. The problem is that not all of these files are going exist upon import. Is there a way to tell the macro to only import if the file exists? And to skip if the import of that file if it doesn't exist? Right now the debugger stops the macro because of file not found.
2. I want to press a button on Sheet 1 that copies Sheet 1 into a new Sheet that's named with today's date. E.g. I press the "Archive"-button, the sheet is copied to a new sheet with the name "051308".
