Runtime Error -2147417848 Running User Form A Second Time
Mar 28, 2007
I have a user form that builds a workbook from one template sheet and information in a SQL Server database. The template sheet contains 4 charts that are copied to every new sheet in the workbook, then their data ranges are set through VBA code. For a while the code was working wonderfully. All the necessary sheets were being generated and correctly populated.
Yesterday I added a new module to generate another sheet and pull data from the same SQL Server tables. Now if I run the userform it will work fine once and create all the needed sheets, and set all the charts to the proper ranges. However, if I delete all the created sheets and run the form again, I get:
Runtime Error '-2147417848 (80010108)'
Automation Error
The Object Invoked has disconnected from its clients
The error consistantly occurs for the following line of
Selection.Copy Destination:=Worksheets("Master").Range("D1")
After the error the selected range still shows up as surrounded by a selection box, but if I change sheets, the box moves to the new sheet. Also I cannot select any new cells in the work book. In order to get Excel to work again I have to End Task from the Task Manager just to get it to close. When I restart Excel and go back to my work book I get the same results, i.e. The form works great once, then Excel dies.
I have tried qualifing all of the objects that can be qualified. I have tried setting all possible varriables to Nothing before exiting my macros. Nothing I have tried, or found suggested so far in the forum works.

I am using this code to open a form in Excel:
Code:
Private Sub Workbook_Open()
Form1.Show
End Sub
It has worked perfectly for about 2 weeks, well now when I go to open the workbook it gives me the debug error of Run Time error 424 Object Required. I last ran this today at about 8 a.m. no errors, but now about 4 hours later, it is bugging out. What is causing this?

The app. that I have been developing requires the user to create a formula in a combobox in a userform that I have setup for them.
They have a list of variables that they can choose from, which they are allowed to use in their formula creation.
A typical formula may look like this:
=SUM(25*DistFromBack) where DistFromBack = 4
I then take their formula and place it out on the sheet which returns me a value of (in this case) 100.
Now this works fine until someone wrote a formula that looked like this:
=SUM((25*DistFromBack)
Now with the double brackets at the front it creates a formula that Excel cant deal with and gives me a 'Runtime error 1004'.
I have tried to trap this error (On Error Goto .....) but unsucessful.
I would really like to have a check when the user types an erronous formula, but dont really know how to go about it.

I have a userform for a time sheet i am working on. I used the following code to enter the time difference between time in and out.
Code:
'FIRST SET
v = (Me.TimeIn.Value)
w = (Me.TimeOut.Value)
x = Int(v / 100) + (((v / 100) - Int(v / 100)) / 0.6)
y = Int(w / 100) + (((w / 100) - Int(w / 100)) / 0.6)
[Code] ........
The code works fine, however, I have I need to place another time difference in based on from the sameuserform but different comboboxes. I thought it wouldbe easy just to add a second code.
Code:
v = (Me.TimeIn.Value)
w = (Me.TimeOut.Value)
x = Int(v / 100) + (((v / 100) - Int(v / 100)) / 0.6)
y = Int(w / 100) + (((w / 100) - Int(w / 100)) / 0.6)
[Code] ....
When i add the second code i get the runtime error 13. The worse part is that i was going to do this like five times.

I wrote a macro that worked for a long time but now a running time error (9) popped out even though the code didn't change at all. If I run the same macro on the same computer but logged on as a different user it runs smoothly. Tried it in other computers and in some of them it will also run in only some of the users but not all.
I'm running Excel 2003 on windows XP, on a pentium 4 PC but found the same in othe computers running Vista.
When I click the debug button the highlighted line is
Workbooks("Detrend").Activate
close to the end of the following code.

I have created workbooks for four health regions to collect data, which then needs to be resubmitted via FTP, but with de-identified data. The end users have little to no excel experience, thus had to make it simple as possible. Created a button that runs the macro (below) to deidentify (clear) all cells where there could possibly be personal identifying information. Runs fine on my cpu, but one user (so far) has received the error noted in the title. Both running excel 2003 with SP3 (I have version 11.8169.8172, user has 11.8316.8221), I have XP professional SP2, user has XP professional SP3. Spent hours searching and reading suggestions online, to no avail.

I have a userform with about 20 multipage tabs, each of which has quite a few text and combo boxes. My problem is I think I have reached some physical limits for the number of controls on the userform. When I try and add code for the userform I get an "out of memory" error.
I thought I have seen some limits on the length of macro code before, but couldn't find them again. If anyone could let me know the limits on userform controls and the number of VBA lines allowed behind the userform, that would be great.
I have tried to put as much of the code as possible in public subs, but there is still a fair amount of code that is associated with things like the AfterUpdate function and I don't know of any other place to put this code. Please let me know if there is another way to put this code in so I don't run out of room.

Intermittent run-time error '75'
Could not find the specified object.
Debug shows VBA Code that simply loads a form called controls
Sub loadcontrols()
Load Controls
Controls.Show
End Sub
Generally works upon restart. Can load and unload the form numerous times. Seems loading the form after a few minutes results in the form failing to load generating the error. Found no consistent cause thus far.
Results in a hard crash: Restart Excel as only option.
The Form Code for Controls loads a modeless transaprent form. Has been working for months. Don't know if this error is new or has been there all along.

I have a user form that has a combo box "City" two text boxes one called "Flight" and the other "Date". What I'm trying to do is to prevent the user from saving the data input from the user form if any of those three fields is left blank. The code that I have so far checks all of the required fields, if any are left blank a message notifys which field(s) is left blank and return the focus back to that field. But the rest of code also fires.
What I really need is either to stop the code if any fields are blank and return the focus back to the blank field, the user completes the field(s) and clicks the save again, or better yet, pause the code until all the required fields are completed and then complete the save. (There is actually another 200+ lines of code in this sub, but I deleted it to keep the post a little shorter.)

I have created a registration workbook for this year's youth sports league. All of the information is entered into a User Form and separated onto it's appropriate sheet designated by the child's age. Next year, I would like to use this year's workbook to look up returning players.
Will it be possible to add a "lookup" button into my form, or create a lookup program, that once the registrar clicks on the correct player, the information is plugged into the User Form, the registrar adjusts the age and any necessary info, presses enter, and the information is copied into the appropriate category in the new workbook? I haven't worked with User Forms long enough to know if they can be filled in that way, but if this can be done, you are the people who would know.

Imagine I have a form with a few controls on it. And the controls properties are set up at runtime.
Is there any way possible to save the property changes that were made at runtime to the controls themselves? I mean - short of manually editing all the controls at Design time?
This might be easier to explain by example. See dummy code below. Using this example - I want to find something that will save the Caption of CommandButton1 as "TestMe" (rather than have it only temporarily set at runtime).

The code thats generating the error is the following:
For Y = 8 To 131
TmpDate = Empty
Range("A1").Value = "=" + Path + Sheet + "B" + CStr(Y)
TmpDate = Range("A1").Value
For Langd = 1 To Len(TmpDate)
TmpChar = Mid(TmpDate, Langd, 1)
If Not TmpChar = " " Then
TmpComp = TmpComp + TmpChar
End If
Next Langd
TmpDate = TmpComp
TmpComp = Empty
If Len(Dag) = 1 Then
Dag = "0" + CStr(Dag)
End If
Macro continues before the Next-statement...
(it might not be good programming, but I think it should work).
A little explanation to the code.
I have a spreadsheet located on the intranet that has values I need in my spreadsheet. These figures are sorted by date, so I search for the date to find the right figures.
The line Range("A1").Value = "=" + Path + Sheet + "B" + CStr(Y)
works prefectly. I can see the value in my spreadsheet in the cell A1. its the next line that causes the error "Type mismatch".
The value I get from the intranet spreadsheet looks similar to this:
"1 Jul 2006 " (note all the spaces).
What I do is just run it through a loop and cut of all spaces so it will look like this: "1Jul2006" to be sure I dont miss a space or anything.
Now to the funny part.
The error only happens at runtime on the first go.
If I chose to END the macro then and there, and then run it again from the top it works perfectly.
If I set a stopsign to debug the code, it works perfectly on the first go too.
Can anyone explain to me why that happens??
I know enough about programming to handle my syntax errors and so on, but I cant see anything wrong in this one...
Please note that this isnt the the entire code.
I'm building a report on 12 diffrent spreadsheet. The main macro is almost 2000 rows of code, and it call other Subs too (because of limitations in the VBA-editor. A macro cant to be too big), so its impossible for me to post the entire macro...

if I leave the inputbox blank I get an Excel error. I.e. it says that the formula I tried to type contains an error..... Is the Type:=8 not working properly here?

Set Addr = Application.InputBox( _
Prompt:="Enter or Select a cell in the last record", _
Title:="Select Last Record:", Default:=Selection.Address, Type:=8)
If Addr Is Nothing Then Exit Sub
Edit: I guess I should mention that I am trying to retrieve a cell reference from the user via an input box. This cell reference will help me determine the last record in the spreadsheet.

I have created a workbook for external users that allows them to track data on a monthly basis and submit to me. Each spreadsheet has a code to sort names alphabetically. Here is the

If i.Value = 0 Then
i.Value = ""
End If

ActiveSheet. Unprotect Password:="xxx"

ActiveWindow.ScrollRow = 10
ActiveWindow.SmallScroll ToRight:=-5
Range("B10").Select
ActiveSheet.Protect Password:="xxx", DrawingObjects:=True, Contents:=True, Scenarios:=True
End Sub
Everything works great for the majority of users, but those who are using Excel 97 return a runtime error on the following line: If i.Value = 0 Then. This code was created in Excel 2000 since that was the software our office used.
