Lock A Textbox From Moving While Scrolling
Aug 14, 2006I know it's possible to lock objects (textboxes), via their properties. ( ie: to move or not with cells),
However, I'm trying to lock down a textbox so that when I scroll the main window, the entire page scrolls except the textbox, which remains in it's position.
A quick solution would be to freeze/split this area... but part of my work area is already utilizing a frozen partition.
I don't believe there is a way to freeze multiple areas.. or is there?

Jun 12, 2007I have assgined a group of object to run Macro's. Each object has it's own Macro. The part I am missing is that when I move through the Excel data the object should move too. The group of Object should be visible even if I work in row 1 or row 100000?

Oct 19, 2007I have an excel sheet embedded in a Powerpoint presentation, but I have the problem that users are editing the sheet and accidently or unknowingly scrolling around. This results in the window resizing itself when the exit the object and messing up the appearance of the presentation. Is there a way of easily preventing scrolling (either via VBA or other)? I can obviously hide the scroll bars but that does not prevent the use of the mouse's scroll-wheel. I have also already hidden all unused columns and rows so that they cannot oversize the window.

May 14, 2007I have an Excel sheet that displays 50 rows and 20 columns when it is opened the first time. These rows and columns are the only ones that I want the user to be able to see. The user shouldn't be able to navigate the sheet by using the scroll bars or the wheel on the mouse. I have of course already removed the scroll bars but I don't know how to handle the scroll wheel problem.

Jun 28, 2011I'm currently creating a workbook whereby I have (regrettably) highlighted entire columns and formatted these columns to show borders. The reason I did this was because drawing them in manually (I thought) would take much longer with the way the worksheet is laid out.
Obviously highlighting the entire column has meant that borders were drawn all the way down to the bottom row of the workbook, and so the vertical scroll bar cannot effectively be 'dragged' up and down as even a tiny movement will cause it to scroll right past the worksheet.
I have tried running a macro to clear contents and formatting for all the unused rows, but the scroll bar remains to be a pain.
I want the scroll bar to only scroll down to a few cells below the available work space like it should do.
Lock Shape Position On Screen
Feb 15, 2007I created a shape (rectangle). I assigned a macro to it, to activate another worksheet.
Can I fix the position of the shape on the screen, near the top. I have 700 rows in the worksheet and I want this rectangle always visible, near the top.
Prevent Screen Changes During Procedure
Apr 26, 2014I have 2 workbooks open. In the workbook that I am working in I run a macro from a userform to copy a worksheet from the other workbook that is idle in the back ground. I also display another user form that says "please wait" while the macro is running.
The problem I have is even though screen updating is set to false the screen switches over to the other workbook while it is copying the desired sheet and switches back to the workbook I am copying to after the macro completes. Also the "Please Wait" userform disappears while the other workbook is displayed and reappears when the initial workbook returns.
Below is my code which works without issue but perhaps there's a better way to copy between workbooks that would prevent the screen changes?

Prevent ESC From Full Screen Mode

a) appear more app-like, and
b) show more data in the available space.
I do not want to go too elaborate by hiding (remembering and restoring) control bars and I reckon the View Full Screen is pretty much okay for my purposes.
I am currently invoking View Full Screen on Workbook_Activate but hitting the ESC key returns to normal view. I can already see my users hitting the ESC key for various reasons and ruining my master plan.
Is there are any way to prevent unintended ESC from Full-Screen or otherwise lock in the full-screen mode until revoked intentionally by macro (shortcut)?

Prevent Display Of Hyperlink Screen Tip
Feb 19, 2009I'm working with text boxes in Excel that have hyperlinks attached to defined names on a worksheet. Basically just to navigate around a large sheet.
They work fine, but when the mouse is hovered over the text box it automatically displays the address of the defined name, which looks messy and I want to get rid of it.
I have tried inserting a single space in the screen tip box, but that displays a small rectangular box. I have also tried "" hoping nullstring maybe interpreted as not to display, but it instead displays the speech marks.
Has anybody done this before? I've seen it done, but I have no idea how the model creator did it.
Lock Spreadsheet To Prevent Use?
Jun 27, 2012I have a excel worksheet that I am looking to market and I want to give the prospective customer a 30 day free trial before purchasing my worksheet. What I would like to do it be able to lock the worksheet so it can not be used after 30 days and also display a message telling them that the trial period has ended. I would also like to keep all formula cells locked at all times to prevent unathorized copying of my calculations.

Jun 30, 2008I have a VBA code that copy data from multiple files into my workbook.
I find the first file, copy the ranges I need into my workbook and continue to the next file until all files are done.
The copy operation in each file is - row by row - because I need to ask questions about each row.
As you understand - what the user sees is a flickering window because I activate the source workbbok -> copy the data -> activate this workbook-> paste the data.
I want to avoid the flickering.
An acceptable solution could be to generate a pop up message box that will say "data is being copied. Pleasd wait while operation is completed". BUT - I don't know how to identify that the action is done and message box can be closed.
Lock Cells To Prevent Predefined Range Macro Copying
Oct 30, 2012I have a spreadsheet that allows users to paste set data from a PDF Image (using OCR) straight into Excel and then use the MID function to split the data accordingly.
Unfortunately, the OCR isn’t too intuitive and gets it wrong sometimes.
So to counter this, in another sheet (in the same workbook) I have a manual input section, and a simple macro button that pastes this data into the same fields where the OCR text would be, so that the main sheet works exactly the same way as before.
The problem is, and most likely due to the simplicity of the sheet, if a combination of OCR pasting and manual inputting is used, when I hit the paste button, it over rides the OCR data with blank cells

So, in the 2nd scenario, I would like “5” to recognise that the respective cells in “4” already contain data and fill them ‘Grey’. This I have already achieved with basic conditional formatting.
However, I need to take it 1 step further and say that if the parent sheets cell (Auto OCR) contains data, as well as filling cells (in sheet Manual) lock these cells off and prevent the end user from adding data and/ or being copied over to the parent sheet.
Is this possible?
The result then being the parent sheet with both OCR text and copied text from the manual input sheet.
Both sheets are protected anyway and only allow for user input in certain areas, so is it even possible to apply further protection once the sheet is locked already?
Definable Scrolling
Nov 30, 2008I've created a worksheet with split panes. I'm able to scroll through my data vertically and horizontally while keeping one area of th screen stationary. Here's my question:
Is there a way to limit the movement of my scroll bars so that it can't move beyond the viewable portion of my worksheet? In other words, I want the scrolling to end when there is nothing else to see but a field of empty cells.

I can't find a scroll event in the windows code to trigger a macro to run itself.
I can get around it by using a selection change event which would restrict me to moving around with the cursor keys/Pageup/down, but I've got 15,000 to review regularly in a short space of time and it would be quicker by mouse

Feb 2, 2014I'm having a problem working with a protected document made by another user.
The sheet has a vertical split at column F, and when I use the arrow keys to scroll right beyond this line (ie from column G and beyond), when I reach the last column (BB), it just loops straight back to the beginning (column F). This also happens in the same direction.
How I can stop this happening, so that it just stops when it reaches the end of the document?
There doesn't appear to be any coding on the sheet.

Jul 5, 2014I have a spreadsheet where I want to put notes in, but I don't want to re-size the cell as it will ruin the format. The amount of information will vary from entry to entry, each entry into the sheet will have its own row and within that entry I want to dedicate one column's cell for that entry's notes. Is there anyway to make a macro for a scroll bar for individual cells so I can scroll though the text entered in that cell. I have tried a text box but the text overflows once the amount of text over fills the text box.

Feb 1, 2010I want is a form that has three different partsof it. Each part containing checkboxes, a spreadsheet, textboxes and labels. But I only want to display one of these parts at a time, depending on what the user clicks.
I know I could write code to move everything into the visible part of the form but that would be messy. I hoped I could find some way to instead move the visible part. Like if I had scrolled.
An example. Say the visible form is 100 high and 100 wide. When opening you see from the width 0-100 and height 0-100 (pixels or whatever those things sould be called). Upon pressing a button I instead want to see width 101-201 and height 101-201.
