I'm working with text boxes in Excel that have hyperlinks attached to defined names on a worksheet. Basically just to navigate around a large sheet.
They work fine, but when the mouse is hovered over the text box it automatically displays the address of the defined name, which looks messy and I want to get rid of it.
I have tried inserting a single space in the screen tip box, but that displays a small rectangular box. I have also tried "" hoping nullstring maybe interpreted as not to display, but it instead displays the speech marks.
Has anybody done this before? I've seen it done, but I have no idea how the model creator did it.
I'm just looking to prevent users from using the print screen or the alt print screen buttons on the keyboard. I have this script that works if I use "39" (Right Arrow)but wont work if I use "42" (Print Screen Button).
I have 2 workbooks open. In the workbook that I am working in I run a macro from a userform to copy a worksheet from the other workbook that is idle in the back ground. I also display another user form that says "please wait" while the macro is running.
The problem I have is even though screen updating is set to false the screen switches over to the other workbook while it is copying the desired sheet and switches back to the workbook I am copying to after the macro completes. Also the "Please Wait" userform disappears while the other workbook is displayed and reappears when the initial workbook returns.
Below is my code which works without issue but perhaps there's a better way to copy between workbooks that would prevent the screen changes?
a) appear more app-like, and b) show more data in the available space.
I do not want to go too elaborate by hiding (remembering and restoring) control bars and I reckon the View Full Screen is pretty much okay for my purposes.
I am currently invoking View Full Screen on Workbook_Activate but hitting the ESC key returns to normal view. I can already see my users hitting the ESC key for various reasons and ruining my master plan.
Is there are any way to prevent unintended ESC from Full-Screen or otherwise lock in the full-screen mode until revoked intentionally by macro (shortcut)?

I have a VBA code that copy data from multiple files into my workbook.
I find the first file, copy the ranges I need into my workbook and continue to the next file until all files are done.
The copy operation in each file is - row by row - because I need to ask questions about each row.
As you understand - what the user sees is a flickering window because I activate the source workbbok -> copy the data -> activate this workbook-> paste the data.
I want to avoid the flickering.
An acceptable solution could be to generate a pop up message box that will say "data is being copied. Pleasd wait while operation is completed". BUT - I don't know how to identify that the action is done and message box can be closed.
Is there anyway to turn off hyperlink. Everytime I put in an @ symbol in the cell and hit enter, it changes it to a hyperlink and changes the font and size. Is there anyway to turn this off or prevent this without having to click on the cell everytime and choose, remove hyperlink.
I have a workbook with a template worksheet. I can generate new worksheets using the Template, and create hyperlink to the new worksheet (Let's call it "New"). However, if an user changes the name of the worksheet from "New" to "SomethingElse", then the hyperlink breaks. How do I get the hyperlink to be automatically updated to "SomethingElse"?
I have a great bit of code for a spreadsheet I'm working on by a board regular called Norie;
The code is;
Code: Private Sub Workbook_BeforeClose(Cancel As Boolean) If ActiveSheet.Name "ThankYou" Then Worksheets("ThankYou").Visible = xlSheetVisible Application.Goto Worksheets("ThankYou").Range("A1"), True Cancel = True UserForm1.Show
[code]....
When I open the workbook it shows for about 1 second another sheet in the workbook rather than just instantly showing the "START" tab. Is there any way to get over this to make this code 100% perfect?
I just really would love upon opening this workbook for the sheet that 1st comes into view to be the START SCREEN TAB, without any flash preview of another sheet.
I am trying to create a macro that checks and displays the screen resolution for both the Main monitor and the secondary monitor.
Currently I have this code that displays the resolution on the main screen only:
Declare PtrSafe Function GetSystemMetrics32 Lib "User32" _ Alias "GetSystemMetrics" (ByVal nIndex As Long) As Long Sub ScreenRes() Dim lResWidth As Long Dim lResHeight As Long Dim sRes As String lResWidth = GetSystemMetrics32(0) lResHeight = GetSystemMetrics32(1) sRes = lResWidth & "x" & lResHeight MsgBox sRes End Sub
However I want to then display another message with the secondary display's resolution (or on the same message box).
I have a splash screen I want to display while a macro runs. I've created all the necessary code based on information from this site but have a question about where to actually put the code as all the example I've seen are based on workbook open events.
I tried placing my code
UserForm1.Show
with in the macro I waned the splash screen to be displayed during but that doesn't work. Well, it does, but not as I intended. The splash screen pops up for the specified duration as part of the macro stopping the macro, then closes and the rest of the macro finishes running.
Do i need to call the splash screen from a certain point in the macro I wish it to be displayed during? I dont want the macro to stop running while the splash screen is showing.
I have copied a webpage into excel It contains URL javascript link.
a) I wonder if I can copy this link out without keystroking each row. b) When I point at the link, a few numbers come out. I want to extract these number out.
I am thinking of creating a macro so that it can be performed automatically because I have more than 300 rows.
I have place a camera-picture of a table on the right side of a chart. On the screen it looks great! (See below - with some redaction)
Problem Example.png
.... but when I print it the table expands off of the side of the chart. Scale is 100%, zoom is 100%, Excel 2010 (See below - with some redaction). Whether or not I have a print area does not seem to make a different in the problem. Also, it appears that this happens with any shape I put in that place, it's not specific to the camera tool.
I have an excel file with a large amount of employee data in it and want to create a search facility that will run on variable search functions and display the information on the screen
I want to be able to enter variable search functions as follows:
Employee Number; shows all information on employee Division: shows all employees in division (possible from a list of all divisions) Appraisal Eligibility : Applicable shows all the applicable employees Job Role: shows all the employees with the same job role (possibly from a drop-list of all roles)
I know its easier in Access, but all records in Excel as a legacy and don't have time to create an access database currently.
I have a list of 5,000 urls and I'd like to see what the actual url that is returned for each of them. For example, if I run the url www.example.com/runningshoes, that url may redirect to www.example.com/shoes. I'd like to see what each url returns. Is there a formula/macro that I can use to see this? I'm not very experienced in using macros, but I'm willing to give it a shot if it'll work.
I have a workbook that has a main sheet which provides stats from other sheets within the workbook. I have a hyperlink which goes to a certain place of sheet 2 and the displayed text shows the contents of a cell on sheet 2.
I know it's possible to have the hyperlink go to a certain cell on another workbook as opposed to worksheet, but I cant display the contents of a cell on another workbook as the text on the hyperlink.
I'm putting together an Excel sheet which contains links to other files. I was wondering if I can display the properties of those files in an adjacent cell? Basically I want to show the date the document being pointed to in a hyperlink was last changed. The documents are contained on a local drive.
I have a Pivot Table set up that is summarizing some work responsibilities, and within the data table that the Pivot is referencing, there is a field for a Hyperlink that will take the user to the location on the network where the work has been saved. I am not sure if it is possible, but I want to have that Hyperlink work in the Pivot Table as well, and not just display the text for the link.
I have a Excel database and a userform to look-up reocrds. I want to be able to connect a Data Sheet which is a PDF file to every product in the daatbase.
I have created an additional column and created hypelinks in front of each product. these hyperlinks are connected to the datasheet of that product which is saved on the drive.
I have created a field on the userform to display the respective hyperlink when a record is searched by user.
My problem is that the user form displays the hyperlink name, but its dead. I want users to be able to click on the hyperlink to view the attached Datasheet. I have tried using Textbox and labels to display this hyperlink,
I am automatically generating a hyperlink to another document. The link that generates is: (I don't know if this qualifies as code, but I'll tag it anyhow...)
with 06-09-05 0000020 Name as a directory off the current App.path, and 06-09-05 0000020 Name.xls being the name of the file in the directory. It does have a sheet called "Notes". The thing of it is, the hyperlink takes me to the right place, it just gives me an error message every time saying "Reference not valid". How can it be taking me to the right place, and still giving me the error?
I am trying to display a splash screen which fades in and then fades out and closes itself leaving the ap showing. I have utilized code that I found wih permission to use but I'm still doing something wrong.
Option Explicit '// This Userform code has everything you need to make a captionless userform '// Fade In & Out
'// Transparency Private Declare Function SetLayeredWindowAttributes _ Lib "user32" ( _ ByVal hWnd As Long, _ ByVal crKey As Long, _ ByVal bAlpha As Byte, _ ByVal dwFlags As Long) _ As Long
'// Title Bar Private Declare Function GetWindowRect _ Lib "user32" ( _ ..............................
I have 2 forms. Form1 and Form2. I load Form1 to display. A button on Form1 calls Form2 to display. After I hit Cancel-Unload on Form2 it doesn't dissapear. How do I get rid of the residual image of pesky Form2 after I unload it and only display Form1 WITHOUT having to reload Form1 after Form1 calls Form2
In English Form1 Displays Form1 call Form2 to display Form2 is unloaded by hitting a button on Form2 Form2 is unloaded, however, it's image still displays!!!
Need some way to force screen to refresh without having to unload Form1!
