Macro For Finding Blank Cells?

Feb 12, 2014

provide me a macro to give a particular message or Cell Name when the cell is blank. I have to check around Eight columns and the starting row is A10. Moreover the sheet can have different numbers of row at different time like some time only 50 persons data will be there and some times 60 or 85 like this but the maximum will be 300. So if the 50 persons data is there than it should not warn about row 51 onwards.

Finding Maximum Value (but Exclude Blank Cells)

Mar 21, 2014

I am writing a formula for finding a maximum out of three average values. The cells that will be populated with data are A1 to A5; B1 to B5; C1 to C5. The final cell where I want to write the formula needs to show the maximum of the three averages (average of data in each row).

The difficulty is that sometimes only the A and B rows are populated (and sometime only A row is populated) and if B and/or C are blank, the formula fails and shows "#DIV/0!".

How can I write so that if C is blank, then evaluate only A and B data. And If both B and C are blank, then just display the average of row A.

Finding Items In List With Blank Cells?

Dec 5, 2011

I have a list of about 100 cells that's going to have user-inputed data for varying cells that could repeat. For example:

AAA
(blank)
BBB
(blank)
(blank)
AAA
(blank)
CCC
etc.

I need a formula(s) for a second list that can find the non-blank cells and put them in order (not necessarily alphabetical).

Finding Items In A List With Blank Cells Separated By Date

Dec 15, 2011

This might be pretty tricky. I'm trying to create formulae that can find non-empty cells in a list, and separate by date.

Example:

The following are given:

DateItem
1/23AAA
1/24
1/25BBB
1/26
1/27
1/28

[Code]....

I would like:

List 1 (Jan) List 2(Feb)

Finding Cells In A Macro

Sep 16, 2008

I have a row of cells with names. Alex, John, Martha, Jim, etc.
Each person has a list of data under them. I have a master column of data. Depending who is on duty today, I want the macro to find the person and then copy paste special the master column over the person column.

Thus, in the macro code where it says

Find(What:="John",

I want it to refer to a specific cell. I.e. what:=$E$4.

Then it must go to the cell it found and copy paste the info in.

Macro To Return Value By Combining 2 Cells & Finding Mat

Dec 15, 2006

I have a step in a very long macro to populate a sheet (SheetMaster) with the course completion status based on another sheet (SourceData) in the same workbook.

On "SheetMaster" Col E starting with row 2, I want to look at whether a concatenated value of E1 + A2 is in Col G in "SourceData". The macro should run until it gets to a blank row in Col A.

Here is an example to help illustrate the logic:

E1 = Ethics101
A2 = 123456
A3 = 654321

If Col G in "SourceData" contains "Ethics101-123456", E2 = "Complete", if not "Incomplete"

If Col G in "SourceData" contains "Ethics101-654321", E3 = "Complete", if not "Incomplete"

...and so on until it gets to a blank row in Col A...

Macro To Combine Cells In A Row To 1 Cell While Skipping Blank Cells

Jul 2, 2014

I need to combined all non blank cells in a given row into 1 cell. But within each row i have 5 phases that the values fall into, which is denoted by the 1st charter 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5. for example, in a given row i have 1-a, 1-c, 2-d, and 1-f and these values occurs in non consecutive columns starting from G to ALR. I need a macro that sorts these values in one of the 5 phases. So in another sheet the macro would combined [1-a 1-c 1-f] in Phase 1 and [2-d] in phase 2. and if there are other phases it would put them in the appropriate cell.

Macro To Combine Cells In Row To 1 Cell While Skipping Blank Cells

Jul 17, 2014

However, in addition to what the macro already does, it is possible to add another work sheet in the same work book that outputs the values in separate cells? It also has to output the data in order: for example, in the first work sheet the data is inputted at random and has spaces but the macro will have to remove all the blank cells and output them in order based on the first value in the test string, 1, 2, 3, 4, and then 5;

input:

blank 3-x Blank 1-y blank 2-z 1-k

output:

1-k 1-x 2-z 3-y

Macro To Fill Blank Cells

Nov 29, 2006

I wonder if soeone could change the following macro so that the bottomcell
is set to be as far down as there is content in Column "A". As it stands if I fill in blank cells in Column "C" and the last cell with data is say C10 it does just this. But if the actual last row with data in column "A" is A14 then cells C11, C12, C13, and C14 are ignored. C11, C12, C13, and C14 should be the same as C10 above them.

Sub FillBlankCells()
Dim topcell As Range, bottomcell As Range
Set topcell = Cells(1, ActiveCell.Column)
Set bottomcell = Cells(16384, ActiveCell.Column)
If IsEmpty(topcell) Then Set topcell = topcell.End(xlDown)
If IsEmpty(bottomcell) Then Set bottomcell = bottomcell.End(xlUp).Offset
Range(topcell, bottomcell).Select
Selection.SpecialCells(xlBlanks).Select
Selection.FormulaR1C1 = "=R[-1]C"
End Sub

Other macros recognize the actual last row.... but have issues with columns formatted as Text. The macro above doesn't create problems with columns formatted as "Text".

Macro Not Recognizing Blank Cells

Aug 9, 2007

I'm using a macro to send the contents of a sheet to an html file. The problem I am having is that for some reason it is not recognizing the blank cells in the last column (column 9) of the sheet, thus I am not getting the "&nbsp" that I need in the html code. The code for column 7 works fine and is identical. I did a test and selected column 9, right clicked, and "Cleared Contents". When I ran the macro again it worked fine. The problem is that sometimes there may be data in column 9, so I can't clear it. Here's the code I'm using. Is there another condition I can use to look for a blank cell or something I can do to the spreadsheet for my code to work?

If Cells(i, 9) = "" Then
a.writeline " <td valign=""top""> </td>"
Else
a.writeline " <td valign=""top"">" & Cells(i, 9).Text & "</td>"
End If

Macro To Fill Blank Cells With Data In Above Cell

Dec 10, 2013

I have a small challenge, where I am trying to fill blank cells with the data from the last populated cell above.

However, I need it to be able to automatically recognise when a manual entry has beed actioned down the column and recalculate for below that cell with the new data.

The data in the cell is selected from a drop down. I want it to populate all the cells below, until the next drop down is selected. And automatically repopulate them all when it is selected.

E.g. Cell C8 has the value "DATA" selected, and everything below is autofilled with "DATA", but when I select cell C12 with different drop down list value "VALUE", all the cells below stay as "DATA" because they are obviously no longer blank.

What I need if C9 - C11 to remain filled with 'DATA" and from C13 to auto fill with the newly selected value "VALUE".

Need this to happen for as many rows and data selections from the drop down as needed (endless).

I have used:

Code:
Sub FillEmpty() Application.ScreenUpdating = False Application.Calculation = xlManual Dim cell As Range For Each cell In Intersect(Selection, _ ActiveSheet.UsedRange) If Trim(cell) = "" And cell.Row > 1 Then cell.NumberFormat = cell.Offset(-1, 0).NumberFormat cell.Value = cell.Offset(-1, 0).Value End If Next cell Application.Calculation = xlAutomatic 'xlCalculationAutomatic Application.ScreenUpdating = False End Sub

which does the auto fill, but won't change the cells below once one of them has been updated.

Info:

Drop down list has 31 possible selections at the moment

Starts at Cell C8

Needs to be flexible enough to add an indeterminate number of rows, and additional items to the drop down selection.

Finding The Last Non Blank Row From Another Sheet And Doing A Vlookup On That Row

Apr 4, 2014

I have a Workbook with 18 "sheets and a recap sheet. Each sheet will have a different number of rows between A9 and N60. On my recap sheet I want to be able to find what the last row with data in Column A and then be able to do a vlookup on that row to display the data in Column 2,3,4, exc. I know how to do the vlookup's fine but I don't know how to specify to select the last row. The data will always be different and the number of rows will never be the same either.

I tried the below formula because everyone complains that if you use True is returns the last row but that didn't work.

=VLOOKUP(A2,Sheet_2!$A$9:Sheet_2!$N$60,2,TRUE)

Is there a way to do this without VB, I don't understand VB at all and that would get way over my head really quickly.
