Msgbox Syntax (display A Message And Then Exit The Sub)
Nov 4, 2008
Before executing my code I want to check down a column to make sure there are no entries in it. If there are then I want to display a message and then exit the sub. If all the cells in the range are empty then the code is to be executed.
What I have so far is
following code works with the remarked lines out. I want to do is is if Range ("H5") <+ 0. then put up a message box and when user clicks on the OK in message box, to exit Excel and not save the workbook. Otherwise run the code as is.
I do this stuff for free as part of a retired businessman's organization. Keeps me young, but Excel is so powerful it is difficult to grasp at times.
This loop is to find if there is the string "Need Parent " in the range. If so the Msgbox notifies the user.
After it finds the string, the loop needs to exit- I tried to assign a counter to the MsgBox, but no go....
For i = 6 To lLrw If Range("D" & i).Value = "Need Parent" Then MsgBox "Stop. Parent Records Still Need To Be Created." End If ii = MsgBox + 1 If MsgBox > 0 Then Exit For End If Next i
1 - While returning a msgbox, I seem to be unable to find the proper fashion of returning text, an integer or variable, and then more text. I can set the integer first with msgbox(x) & "text" Can't seem to get text, integer, then text.
2 - While returning multiple msgbox's, is it possible to make changes on the worksheet after each box? I realize this is in the middle of code which is running, so not sure if that's conceivable or not.
How can I get the message to display in the center of the display box?
If i < 3 Then If MsgBox(Tries - i & " Tries Remaining." & vbLf & vbLf & " Try Again?", vbYesNo) = vbNo Then Exit For
As you can see the "try again?" & the text "Tries Remaining"works fine by entering spaces, but the number that is suppose to display with "Tries Remaining" does NOT center. How can I get the number to display in the center along with the text?
This is the complete code.
Private Sub Workbook_Open() Dim i As Integer, Tries As Integer Dim PassTry As String Const Pass As String = "Password" Dim storedPath As String On Error Resume Next storedPath = ThisWorkbook.CustomDocumentProperties("PathCertString").Value On Error GoTo 0..................
Is it possible to concatenate an icon as part of a MsgBox's prompt string? An example of an icon might be from the imageMso library, imageMso="PropertyInsert". I want to include an icon in code like this:
MsgBox("In the next window, Press the Print icon " _ & <icon> & "to print this report " & _ "or press Close Print Preview " & <icon> _ & "to cancel printing."))
I want to use a msgbox to display the dim range of
r = "G" & endg & ":J" & endg
Should be something like G29:J29
How can I do this?
it's so I can investigate what is going wrong with my pie chart code
Code:
Sub Add_PVVrGChart() Dim co As ChartObject, endg%, i%, r$, sname$, suffix, r$, s$ '~~~ Suffix allows the code to be manipulated more easily with changing the sheet name but keeping the Suffix the same suffix = Array("A", "B", "C", "D", "E", "F", "G", "H") For i = LBound(suffix) To UBound(suffix)
I have a named range "Lines" (created using OFFSET fuction) in my worksheet. This named range is dynamic as it is created using OFFSET function and points to a particular region in column A only (so its just a 1 dim array). The named range works fine (it changes automatically as I change a dropdown list).
What I want is to display the contents of the array using MsgBox separating the contents using a newline character.
So suppose if the named range "Lines" points to A1:A4 and the contents of it are A1=A, A2=B, A3=C and A4=C, Then I want a VBA code to show: A B C D
I have a file with 2 tabs that linked 1) Input 2) Spread. The idea is for the user to spread the total number they keyed in the "input" by months. I need a code that will display a msgbox if the sum of the variance column in Spread <> 0, so it can prompt the users that they still have to do the spreads before closing the files. I want the action to happen when they attempt to save or close, just to remind them it's not done yet.
-In cells J6:P11 - Display a MsgBox for the value in J6; Then - Display MsgBox for the value in K6; Then - Display MsgBox for the value in L6 - etc, etc
1. Calculate (perform F9 manual calculation) 2. Display a msgbox (MsgBox "Enter a city or zip code to calculate mileage.", vbExclamation, "Travel Schedule")
Is there an operator that lets you string multiple macros or do they need to be recorded separately and recalled in one macro assigned to the button?
I want to run a program from my PERSONAL.XLS workbook, however, after a piece of code where I close all the open workbooks different from PERSONAL.XLS, the code stops running.
How can I contour this?
Down is the piece of code used to close the other workbooks and the msgbox I want to show, along with a DialogBox:
For Each W In Workbooks If W.Name ThisWorkbook.Name Then W.Close SaveChanges:=False End If Next W
MsgBox "Abrir apenas a Origem a actualizar, que deverá ser obrigatoriamente do mês corrente ou do anterior", _ vbOKOnly + vbInformation, "Atenção"
Triggering a message box. one of the worksheets in my workbook is called Update Comments - this is a sheet that contains data in the following format (headers)
B7 = Week Number C7 = W/C D7 = Update Due E7 = Updated By G7 = Update Comments
I have a formula in column D (beginning D8 and copied down for the year) as follows:
How can I break this onto 3 lines in Visual Basic Editior to make it more readable:
MsgBox "Only enter data in white cells." & vbNewLine & "Yellow cells contain formulas or dates entered automatically", & vbNewLine & "Do not insert blank rows. Copy row(s) and Insert/Paste" , vbInformation, "Spreadsheet by GJF"
Im using code from website: http://www.contextures.com/xlDataVal11.html
to display a combobox when I double click any cell that contains a validation list in it. I'm not great with VBA so I am having problems finding what each part of the code does. This is causing problems for another bit of code that I use to display a msgbox when certain values are selected from the list.
The MsgBox shows up great when I select an item from the validation list but does not work at all when I select the same item from the double-clicked combo box. It would be great if I could get the MsgBox to work both ways. This is the code that displays the MsgBox when target value is selected from list
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) Select Case Target.AddressLocal(False, False) Case Is = "B4", "B5", "B6", "B7", "B8", "B9", "B10", "B11", "B12" If Target.Value = "H" Then MsgBox "This is a pop for extra information. Savvy?", vbYesNo, "Yo!" End If End Select End Sub...............
I would like to call upon a function until a certain criterion is fullfilled. Then, I would like to have the result returned to me and exit (all) open functions. For value1 = 1 and value2 = 10 I expect value1*value2 = 100. Instead, the routine returnz zero. What is the logical flaw in the code below.
Function testfunction(value1, value2) If value1 = value2 Then 'Calculating the difference testfunction = value1 * value2 Exit Function ElseIf value1 < value2 Then value1 = value1 + 1 Call testfunction(matrix1, matrix2) End If End Function
I'm trying to create a dynamic msgbox that will display what data has been updated based on checkbox selections in the userform. I've named my checkboxes as Carey, Keith, and Juliet.
Ideally if only Carey's data has been updated, I'd like the msgbox to say
' Data has been Updated for: - Carey '
If Carey and Keith's data has been updated, I'd like the msgbox to say
'Data has been Updated for: - Carey - Keith '
etc.
MsgBox ("Data has been Updated for:" & vbnewline & _ If CAREY.Value =true then "- Carey" End if & vbnewline & _ If KEITH.Value =true then "- KEITH" End if & vbnewline & _ If JULIET.Value =true then "- Juliet" End if & ")
in column A of a spreadsheet a date needs to be entered manually, however i cannot have it so it can be backdated or a weekend. I have seen a message box pop up if you try and enter a date prior to today saying , Please enter todays date , then gives you an option Retry Or Cancel. But im not familiar with this function.
Is it possible to have this if a date is enter and is either a weekend or a date less than today ?
I´m writting a macro. It works find until a certain point. When I want to change some outputs of the macro without changing the syntax, it display an error mesage while runing the macro. It says Else without If. Which is quite disturbing because the Else was not creating any problem before. Here is my macro before I changed the conditions (this one work nicely)
Sub Copy_Sheet_Beta() Set wba = ActiveWorkbook On Error Resume Next If IsWorkbookOpened("Projekt.xls", "C:Documents and SettingsfrederikSkrivebordRedd Barna") Then Workbooks("Projekt.xls").Activate 'In case open, just activate "Projekt" Else Workbooks.Open Filename:="C:Documents and SettingsfrederikSkrivebordRedd Barnaprojekt.xls" End If Set wb = Workbooks("Projekt.xls") wb.Activate If Not SheetExists(wba.ActiveSheet. Range("C1").Value) Then MsgBox "overall doesn't exist!" Else........................................
I want to sort the information that will be displayed in a message box just before it's displayed, is this possible. I can't do this in the worksheet because it would conflict with how I have the worksheet sorted already. Here's the last portion of the code that will display what I want in the message box. I want to sort by the... Requested on: " & mpNames.Cells(i, 2).Text & " this column has a date and time in it and I want the sort to use this information to sort the message box.
If .Cells(i, "A").Value = mpTestName Then
mpMessage = mpMessage & mpNames.Cells(i, 1).Value & _ " (Requested on: " & mpNames.Cells(i, 2).Text & ", Leave type: " & mpNames.Cells(i, 3).Value & _ ", Start Date on: " & mpNames.Cells(i, 4).Text & ", End Date on: " & mpNames.Cells(i, 5).Text & ")" & vbNewLine & vbNewLine
End If Next i
If mpMessage "" Then
MsgBox mpMessage, vbOKOnly + vbInformation Else
MsgBox "Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah", vbOKOnly + vbInformation End If End With End Sub
When the user enters a date (A1), that date is cross-referenced with a database to determine 1 of 3 results, in which the results are displayed in A3 as follows - Date out of range. (value="DOR"), No records exist. (Value="NRE"), Records exist. (Value="RE").
Once the date is entered and the corresponding value determined, I would like to have a ppo-up message appear with options:
Date out of Range. Message: "Date falls out of range of operating season. Please re-enter." ** I think I can use validation to take care of this. **
Message "Would you like to import data?" Yes - open external application No - default A1 to current date and await user input
Records Exist. Message " x Diamond Records; y Field Records; z Court Records " where x y z are numeric values based on lookup from the referenced database Message "Proceed to data" Yes - takes used to next new worksheep No - default A1 to current date and await user input
How / where do I code this to activate after the user enters a valid date?
