View 3 RepliesI am unable to undo/redo in MsExcel. Have tried to uninstall/reinstall office, all updated are current.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSome of my Excel files work perfectly in terms of undo/redo, while others simply cannot use that feature. I took a stroll through the internet looking for the answer, but the issues that I found seemed to point to the application losing its ability, which was resolved with a registry edit/update/change. I don't think that's the case here because I CAN undo is SOME documents.
After some investigation with my problem documents I have found that THIS Macro is the one thing all my undo-free documents have in common: [URL]
I have Excel 2007.
Undo / Redo - they do NOT work properly after a save. Before a save, its great - I can undo / redo many many changes.
After a save, I can only undo 2 changes, but the worst thing is it ONLY REDOES ONE of them.
I work by saving very regularly, then I go and look at something on the sheet, and then use Undo / Redo to get back to where I was last updating the sheet and see what I had just been working on, especially if its a few minutes in between.
However, when I do that now, it undoes my last change, but the redo has been lost. So I do:
change, save, undo, redo
and it just doesn't do the redo. The redo button is greyed out.
If I do:
change, change, save, undo, undo, redo, redo
the first redo works, and the second fails as the redo has been lost.
It seems pretty basic that undo / redo should be symmetrical but they aren't, at least now.
I would rather just not have undo after save at all than this broken version.
Why are they putting so much stuff in Excel but they can't even get one of the most basic parts of spreadsheets correct - such as undo / redo, and the ability to open independent spreadsheets without having to change things in the registry (which I have had to do so I can work on two spreadsheets in a semi-sane fashion, undo being shared across your sheets otherwise). MS needs a back to basics...
Couple of the end users are unable to use undo/redo functions on certain excel worksheet. I have uninstalled/reinstalled office 2003 without success. Then I even installed office 2000 and office XP without any luck. Have checked into macro's and clipboard and also got idea of adding registry value.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to figure out how to save a worksheet's autofiltering settings and be able to re-create those settings.
I would start off with a spreadsheet with a few Autofilters on. I would like to make a macro that will record the initial Autofilter settings, then the macro would do a bunch of stuff that would need to 'Show All'. After these actions take place, I would like to be able to return to the initial Autofilter settings. I'm not even sure which VBA command should be used for this sort of thing.
I opened an Excel file, and the whole page is grey. I can't see the cell lines at all. How do I get it back to white with all my gridlines?

View 6 Replies View RelatedPaste Special is no longer available in the Edit menu--it's grayed out. (I am using Excel 2003). I can't find any info on what disabled it or how to re-enable. It's probably something moronically obvious, but this moron needs a shove in the right direction.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have noticed that the submenus for the following main menu items are disabled
Edit Insert Format Data
The submenus for the other main menu items are fine.
I have not run any macros that alter the menus.
I have tried Tools>Customise Reset Menu and Toolbar usage. I then exit the Excel session, but the problem still remains,
The Autosum in all my Excel files is greyed out. I am able to use the icon button to perform autosums but am unable to turn off "autosum" from the tool bar. I have turned the EnableAutosum to "true" in the Editor with no luck. What am I missing?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a worksheet that has multiple radio buttons. Each radio button is linked to a Macro. I need there to be many buttons running down one side of the worksheet. Each button needs to perform a macro that is relevant to the cells in the same row that it is on.
Essentially what i am trying to do is make a macro that when the button is pressed copys data from H6 and paste it into B6. The button is situated above I6. I need a button for each row from 6 to 110.
While this macro is easy to create (i use the record button and then assign the macro to the button), i would have to do this 104 times and assign a new macro to each button.
Is there a quicker way?
Is it possible to change the color of buttons or command buttons? There does not seem to be any place that allows this under properties for buttons, although there does for command bars. However, I've tried recording a macro as I change the color, but nothing get's recorded so I'm not sure what the syntax would be.
I have a spreadsheet with several buttons and I'd like them to change colors as they are pressed so it's possible to see what you've already done. And then, as soon as any other cell on the sheet is changed, the buttons reset color.
I would like to restore some important functionality in Excel 2007 which has become disabled for a spreadsheet which I saved in different file formats.
I opened an Excel 2003 file with Excel 2007 and used 'Save As' into different formats (default, macro-enabled, binary) to see the resulting file size.
A number of Ribbon items are now greyed out for this file, including,
- Insert - Tables, Illustrations, charts, etc.
- Styles - conditional formatting and Format as table,
- Formula Auditing
- Data - just about all of them
- View - some of the Window items.
Also, I cannot resize or move a button on a worksheet.
Attempts to 'Save As' into the Excel 2003 format cause Excel 2007 to hang.
What caused so many features to become disabled?
How do I restore them?
I sometimes come across spreadsheets that have only a few white, "normal" looking cells and the rest are grey with no borders.
Usually there is a thick blue line around the "normal" cells and I can make more cells look "normal" by dragging the blue border line.
What is this? And, how do I set it up in a spreadsheet if I need to?
My spreadsheet is locked and protected, and i have found out that the BOLD, underline and italic functions have been disabled, is there anything i could do via VBA to keep these functions active,...????

Problem solved: I inadvertently had selected more than one worksheet tab and this was stopping me from placing a button on the worksheet.
I am using excel 2007 and when I right click on the worksheet tab, delete is greyed out. My workbook/sheet is not shared. I also had the problem owith row and columns. CommandBars("row").Reset sorted that out but I can't seem to sot out the tab issue.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI cannot figure out why this setting has changed. When I right click my tab worksheet in Excel to copy or rename, it does not allow me. I will need your advice to re-activate that options so it is visible and not gray. I tried in the VBA workbook properties settings with no luck and also Tools, Options.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm using Excel 2010 and when I highlight a range and right click 'name a range' is greyed out. I can bypass this by going to the formulas tab and defining a name from there.
Anything I can check to see why this is not an option for me?
I ran a simple macro that I created in my workbook, got a run-time error, clicked debug, clicked reset to stop the macro running, and now all of the icons in my workbook are greyed out. I can select cells, change worksheets, enter information in cells etc....just I can't save the workbook, or select any of the icons on my ribbon / in the office menu. Would really like to avoid terminating the application as I made a number of changes that I didn't save (doh doh doh).

I created a lookup table that works quite well. It even has if statements in the LookUp Formula. However, I have to update the table it pulls the information from each day. I wind up recreating the range each time because the table always has more rows each time. Is there a way I could just paste the table in each day and not have to change the range? The columns never change.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am making a spreadsheet in which I have been asked to have certain column greyed-out based on an answer that was given in a dropdown menu. Specifically, a dropdown menu in column D asks if the client was a Youth or an Adult. Depending on what the anwer is, other columns in the spreadsheet will be greyed-out; different ones for each answer. My problem is, I need this to occur for the active row being editted. For example: The first row that the user can input data into is row 4. If D4 is answered with "Adult" then certain other columns are greyed-out. However, if the next time the user updates the spreadsheet with information for a different client (now entering information in row 5) and they select "Youth" for column D5, then different columns get greyed-out. The columns that are greyed-out will depend upon the answer for the dropdown menu in column D for whatever row is actively being editted.
