Round Time To Decimals?

Nov 9, 2013

I am trying to round up the total sum of time to the quarter hour. I enter time in fields as follows:

WORKSHEET SETUP:
Column B: Time I begin working
Column C: Time I end working
Column D: Total time C minus B
Cell format for columns B and C: H:MM AM/PM
Cell format for calculated field in column D: H:MM
Calculation, column D to show total time on a daily basis: =IF(C6>0,C6-B6,"")

However, I want to calculate total time per month in decimals, rounded up to the nearest quarter hour.

Example:

I worked 5 minutes (I do not want to reflect 15 minutes for five minutes of work). When I total time for the entire month (total daily time in column D), I would like that total to reflect total Hours:Minutes rounded up the quarter hour - but in decimals!

Assuming this is possible, how should I format cells, and what would the formula be for the total of hours per month?

Round A Time Entry To The Next 30 Minute Increment

Feb 2, 2006

I have a worksheet that I enter time values into individual cells:

A1 = 6:00
B1 = 12:00
C1 = 12:45
D1 = 17:15

When I enter these values, I would like some of the values to round to the
next higher "30 minute increment" such as Cell C1 should become 13:00.

I would also like some of the values to round back to the next lower "30
minute increment" such as Cell D1 should become 17:00.

Macro To Round Time Upon Exit Of Cell?

Mar 28, 2012

I am creating a time tracking tool.

I would like a macro or event, etc to round an inputted time to the nearest 15 min increment upon exit of a cell.

For example, a user inputs a raw time into cell B5. Upon exit from B5 I would like the macro to round that time to the nearest 15 minutes and keep the time in cell B5. All of the cells in column B would need to have this capability.

1. How do I call teh macro upon exit from the cell

2. What is the code to grab that data from the cell in column B, round it to the nearest 15 minute increment and then put that value back into the same cell?

Calculate Time, But Round To Nearest 15 Minutes

Jan 2, 2007

I am trying to calculate the time between two cells and have the answer in hours, with two decimals, but in .25 minute increments.

Desired result:
1/1/07 12:00 in A1
1/1/07 14:10 in B1
1.25 in C1

0-7 Minutes - round down to 0.00
8-22 Minutes - round to 0.25
23-37 Minutes - round to 0.50
38-52 Minutes - round to 0.75
52-60 Minutes - round to 1.00

Because this is billable time, the number is never negative, so I don't need the formula to verify the first date/time cell is less than the second.

Countif Of Hours And Mins Not Dates

Mar 17, 2009

I have a data feed that gives a column of cells formated mm/dd/yy hh:mm
These are call entries, what i want to do is count all the occurances each hour, so count all the entries say between 9am and 10am. However the column is very long and holds data for many weeks so i want to be able to ignore the date part of the cell.

For example

3/17/09 9:58
3/18/09 10:58
3/18/09 8:58
3/19/09 8:58
3/19/09 9:58
3/19/09 9:58

So the entries between 9 and 10 are = 3

Ideally i do not want to do text to colums and split out the parts. i would like to leave the source data alone.

Formula To Calculate How Many Hours Minus 30 Mins For Lunch

Jan 12, 2009

If a person does a full day I want the formula to calculate how many hours minus 30 mins for lunch i.e. 7:30 - 4:00 = 8 hours. I have done this and it works fine, the problem comes when a person does a half day i.e. 7:30 - 11:30, this will read 4.5 hours. If this is the case I don't want the 30mins deducted so it should be 4.0 hours worked.

I have high lighted a column in the work sheet (yellow) whereby the user puts an 'x' in the appropriate cell if they are working a half day.

The probem is I cannot incorperate the two formulas in one cell (the Actual hours cell) I have the one formula in the actual hours cell and the other bolted on the end thus giving two different readings.

Averages, Mins And Max On Colums With An Insane Amount Of Rows

Apr 22, 2009

I have a problem with a data set that I'm working on. Basically, I've got a data set that was downloaded from a weather station. I need weather data like average temperature, maximum temperature, minimum temperature for each day over a 90 days period. This is simple enough.

The problem, however, is that the weatherstation has been sampling every 5 minutes. In the data sheet, each day is represented by 12*24 rows of data (12 samples per hour times 24 hours). The total dataset across all days is something close to 26000 rows!

Of course, I can spend hours doing all this by manually by average(), min() and max() and then selecting the cells I want it to apply to each time, but the thought of doing so makes me wince. I would have to do it 90 times per column across hundreds of cells each time and I'm after much more than just temperatures.

Is there a less labour intensive way of doing this?

Cell A2 contains =NOW()
Cell A3 contains =A1-A2 with the result being 69.4021441 with the amount of decimal places varying depending on when it is refreshed.
