SaveAs - Copy Sheet Into New Workbook And Save It In Same Folder As Original Workbook

Jun 17, 2014

I have been trying to edit a code which previously saved a copy in a new workbook to a specific folder/path. (Additionally it copies and clears some figures, but this is working as it should.)

However I would like the copy to be saved at the same location as the original workbook, regardless of the path the original workbook is saved.

I.e if I need to move the workbook containing the code to a new folder/location, when using the macro, the new copy should be stored in the same folder/location as the original one.

For now it is only saving the copy into "My Documents"

Code:
Sub Macro1()
'
' Macro1 Macro
' Macro recorded 16-02-2009 by ceng
'

Sheets("Bunker ROB").Select
Sheets("Bunker ROB").Copy
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:= _
ActiveWorkbook.Path & Range("D3"), _
FileFormat:=xlOpenXMLWorkbookMacroEnabled, CreateBackup:=False

SaveAs Of Multi Sheet Workbook With Filters?

Mar 25, 2009

I have a Workbook containing seven or eight Worksheets. The first Worksheet is a data entry and options selection sheet displaying a selection of Textboxes, Option buttons, Combo boxes etc, the second sheet contains reference data, following these are a number of Worksheets that are calculated and filtered as a result of those options and inputs. A 'print' button on the input Worksheet then runs a Procedure that applies the relevant filters, assigns print areas and prints out the 4 or 5 filtered worksheets. I now want to expand this Procedure to take a copy of just these filtered Worksheets and save them as another Workbook (values only) for subsequent free editting.

I have started by selecting the relevant cells on the first filtered Worksheet, copying, opening a new Workbook, renaming the first Worksheet to match the one I'm copying, PasteSpecial formats, PasteSpecial the values, go back to the original Workbook, select the relevant cells on the next Worksheet, copying, opening the new Workbook, renaming the Worksheet etc etc. Now this seems to be a very labour intensive approach and I'm wondering if there is an easier way and how to do it. Ideally something like... taking a copy of the whole Workbook somehow changing all the cells to values only, rather than formulars then deleting the first two Worksheets (input and data ones).

ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Only Saves One Sheet, Not Whole Workbook

Using the following code does everything I want it to, but when I re-open the saved .xls file I only have the pivot-table sheet. I'm specifying to save the full workbook, aren't I?!?

Changing SaveAs Dialog Box

I'm hoping someone can stop me going crazy with what should be something very simple. To make things easier at the end of my code, all I'd like to do is bring up the SaveAs dialog box and have it default to a specific directory so that the user doesn't have to click through the mountain of various files and folders we have.

Save Single Sheet To New Workbook And Delete VBA Code From New Workbook

Jun 25, 2014

I'm trying to find a way to save a single sheet of an excel workbook and in the same process delete all vba code and shapes from the new single sheet workbook. I was looking around and found this code which does save only the single sheet to a new one sheet workbook but doesn't delete the vba and shape that I have used to assign macros to in the original.

Code:
Sub SaveSheetAsNewBook()
Dim wb As Workbook
Dim InitFileName As String
Dim fileSaveName As String
Dim wshape As Shape
InitFileName = ThisWorkbook.Path & Format(Date, "mm.dd.yy")

Excel 2007 :: Stop Links Changing When Use SaveAs To Create Backup?

Sep 25, 2013

I have two spreadsheets that are linked in Excel 2007. They both hold very different information about the same projects, so each row shares some information. However, they are both very large and I do not want to combine them in case the whole spreadsheet becomes unusable. I'm not allowed to use a database

When I save Spreadsheet 1 in a different location, so that I have a backup of the precious data, the link in Spreadsheet 2 changes to show that new location. I want the link to stay at the old location.

Is there a way to stop the link changing when I use SaveAs, so that when I open Spreadsheet 2 it refers to the original location of Spreadsheet 1?

I've entered this question once before and got some suggestions that seemed to work for a while. Then it became hit and miss as to whether it worked or not. Now I'm geting a "Can't create object" error everytime. I want to break this one sheet out and send only it because I don't want to send the entire workbook.

Error Emailing A Single Sheet From A Workbook

Oct 13, 2009

I have an original workbook that I use daily stored in a folder called 'Live'. I also have this same workbook saved in a different folder call 'In Progress' because I am constantly improving and making changes to it. While I'm in the revision mode, I keep it in this folder. Once I've completed my revisions, I move it to the folder where the live workbook is located and replace the old version. Therefore, I have two copies of the workbook at all times. The name of the workbook in both folders is the same (IRQT)

I have a macro in this workbook that will allow you to save a copy of the workbook in a folder called IRQTArchive. The macro will create the folder if it doesn't exist, then store a copy of the workbook using a name in a cell. After that is complete it renames the workbook back to the original name (IRQT).

This macro works perfect in my live version, but when I execute the macro in the 'In Progress' version, I get a Compile error: Sub or Function not Defined when it reads the dirExists command in the first line of code. The code in both sheets is identical. Here are the first few lines of code. The command dirExists is highlited in yellow when it errors out.

To Consolidate Data From 2 Or More Sheets To A Single Sheet Within A Workbook

Feb 1, 2009

I have 2 sheets which validates data using vlookup.

Sheet1

Table 1ABResult1121232313

=VLOOKUP(A7,B:B,1,FALSE) is the formula in result1 column.
Sheet 2

Table 2DEResult21020102040203010#N/A

=VLOOKUP(F7,G:G,1,FALSE) is the formula in result2 column.

The basic idea of these vlookup is to check whether the data present in A or D column is present in B or E. If the data is there then it will be retrieved in "Result1" or "Result2" columns. If not then the result would return the value "#N/A".

What im trying to do is to copy the resultant data(from Result1, Result2) other than "#N/A" from individual sheets to a final consolidated sheet.

Prevent Workbook Save But Allow SaveAs

Jun 24, 2008

I've got a workbook that I want to keep intact in a central location on our local network, to make it easier for everybody to access, but don't want people to be able to save changes to the master workbook itself. I'd like to be able to disable the 'Save' feature while still allowing 'SaveAs'. The following code (installed in ThisWorkbook) results in the OPPOSITE of what I'm trying to accomplish (i.e., it allows 'Save' but disables 'SaveAs'):

Private Sub Workbook_BeforeSave(ByVal SaveUI As Boolean, Cancel As Boolean)

If SaveUI Then
MsgBox "The 'Save' function for this workbook has " & Chr(10) & "been disabled. Please use 'Save As'.", vbOKOnly + vbInformation, "Save Disabled"
Cancel = True
End If

End Sub

Obviously I'd also like to check the filename they're performing the 'SaveAs' under and disallow it if it matches the master filename.

I've thought about making the workbook into a template, which would sort of accomplish the same thing, but it would be much easier to just keep it as a workbook.

Print Entire Workbook + Multiple Copies Of Single Sheet

Apr 16, 2009

This is probably a VBA thing, but there might be a simpler solution. Either would be grand!

Basically, I have a four sheet workbook that needs to be printed out in its entirety (no problem doing that ); however, I would like the final sheet (called "Room Data") to be printed, let's say ten times.

So basically I'd get a single print of the first three sheets and ten of the "Room Data".

Any ideas on how to do this without having to manually print the final sheet multiple times or creating ten identical sheets in the workbook?

Import Data From Several Closed Workbooks To A Single Sheet In An Open Workbook

Aug 3, 2009

I need to import the data from a specific sheet (same named sheet on all closed workbooks) to a sheet in an open workbook. All the columns are identical in every workbook but the number of rows is variable, so the data from each subsequent workbook must be appended to the end of the current data.

Whenever a button is pressed, this macro will clear the sheet, then import the data starting in A3. The workbooks are in different folders but they all have the same name, so some sort of explorer window will probably be needed to actually select each file.

Excel 2007 :: Generate Single Sheet Workbook And Save To Sharepoint Site

Jan 4, 2012

Automating Excel from Access, I'm attempting to generate a single sheet workbook and save to a Sharepoint site. However, the really odd thing is that stepping through the code doesn't throw an error on the coworkers machine.

Here's the sub being ran; the line it errors out on is the first branch in the .saveas block.

Changing Workbook Formulas To Reference New Workbook Name

When I save the "Weekly Field Report-Master Copy" workbook to a new name "Weekly Field Report Job #1" and then save the "Weekly Field Report $$$-Master Copy" workbook to a new name "Weekly Field Report $$$-Job #1" is there a way to automatically change the formulas in the "Weekly Field Report $$$-Job #1" workbook to now pull data from the "Weekly Field Report Job #1" workbook instead of the "Weekly Field Report-Master Copy" workbook???

Currently I am manually changing the formulas in the new workbook "Weekly Field Report $$$-Job #1" to reference the data in the new workbook "Weekly Field Report Job #1". Otherwise the formulas pull the data from the "Weekly Field Report-Master Copy".
