I have a column of values resulting from subtracting a static date and time from the current date and time.
This means it is constantly updating, which makes it impossible to sort.
All my work depends on sorting those values, though.
I need to subtract the time alone as per below example:
Cell A : 2/4/2014 8:58:13 AM
I need in Cell B as : 2/4/2014 8:46:13 AM (Minus 15 minutes)
How to get this?
What is the code i need to use to assign a macro to a command button which inserts the current date and time in the selected cell regardless of where that cell is?

so my date is dynamic but time is static.
I am not sure whether this can happen, I want to capture time taken for different activities, without manually entering the details.I tried the formula "=Now()", but what happens is that at the end of the day the times are all the same because the live time is changing. Is there a way where the live time is captured and freezed, so that at the end of the day i have a time log sheet.

Now H5 can be three different things, and all three different things are linked to three different cells. Once one cell gets populated with a date in this case is there a way to then have that cell stay populated even when H5 gets changed?
Is there a way to subract date and time? For example if in cell A1 you have 05/20/09 8:00 am. and in B1 you have 5/21/09 16:00. You want to know the time in between.

I am trying to add/subtract dates and times to return one sum; but I only want to count the work week (5 days M-F) and work day (8 hrs.) 8am- 4pm. This is to compute the actual turn around time for a certain process.
i.e.:
Date ReceivedTime ReceivedDate ApprovedTime Approved10/1/20081:00 PM10/15/20089:00 AM
The total hours this process should equate to is: 9days and 6hours.

I am trying to subtract 8 hours from a date/time. What I need to do is to capture that lead time using only weekdays, and working hours of 8am-5pm.
For example:

6/23/2008 9:18AM (Monday)
Subtracting 8 hours from this scenario would give me
6/20/2008 10:18AM (friday)

Assuming that a workday is from 8:30am to 5:00pm. (also need to not calcualte Saturday and Sunday but this example doesn't show it).
Wednesday, 7/18/07 at 4:00pm (minus) Friday, 7/20/07 at 9:00am (should equal) 10 hours or 1 day, 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Basically what I want to do it determine how much work time has elapsed from the time a message was left on voicemail to the time that someone picks that message up. We only want to assume that a message can be retrieved duruing business hours but a message can be left at anytime!
How can I work out the following in hours an minutes: -
Cell A1 = 12th May 2007 20:00
Cell B1 - 14th May 2007 14:30
or should I put the dates and times in seperate cells? I would like the answer to show 42 hours 30 minutes

I am attempting to pick up a date with time entry on a worksheet and place it into a TextBox on a UserForm. Format on the sheet is mm/dd/yyyy h:mm AM/PM. The UserForm is placing the value as mm/dd/yyyy 12:00 AM. here is the

"dDate" is the named range where the date is sitting. The format is also set on the TextBox2 exit event. Can anyone see why only the date portion is being transfered with the default 12:00 AM for no time component of the value?

I have a spreadsheet that contains a list of names/numbers/dates and I have to manually go through the list each day highlighting the row if it contains a date that is more than 48 hours old. How to accomplish this in a macro? Example:

That is the layout of the spreadsheet so I would have to manually highlight rows 2 and 4 because the date in Column D is greater than 48 hours ago. The range is A1:D25 and the cells are changed/updated daily.
On opening of an excel document is it possible to have a date in a cell that will continuously update. =now() enters the date required but if i was to go into the sheet days or whatever later is there a way that this will update automatically??

If I select one or more of the cells, click on the Number dialog box launcher and try to pick a suitable format tghe cells resolutely refuse to budge from being text (i.e. left-justified, still allows me to edit the 'seconds' component to a number > 60). Also which data type should I be using? The only one that appears to have a full date/time format listed is Custom (not Date or Time).

I found a useful code on a forum (maybe here, don't know for certain) and modified it to suit my needs (see below). I am however now getting a debugging error suggesting that the second line that reads "Private Sub Worksheet_Calculate()" is causing an error.
