Sum Function: Sum Any Values

Sep 24, 2007

i have a column with the following values...45, 60, 35, 20, 10, 35, 28, & 17. in the next column, i want to put a "1" next to the values listed (45, 60, etc.) if their sum is less than 100...the formula needs to be flexible enough so that it does not sum any values that another "1" above it has already summed.

using the values above, a "1" would be placed next to 45, 35, and 28.

I am trying to find some missing values compared to 6 base values. For instance, I have a sheet with some names translated to another language, I am trying to find the languages some names have not been translated too.

For example, if I have six languages, Arabic, Japanese, Russian, Chinese-Simplified, Chinese- Traditional, and Korean to compare too, I want to find any names that are not translated in certain languages.

Sample:

John Japanese
John Chinese - Simplified
John Korean
Martin Arabic
Martin Chinese - Simplified
Martin Russian
Ramon Arabic

MID Function For Different Lookup Values?

Obtain The Array Values Of A Function

Jan 25, 2013

How can I obtain the array values from a function?

For example: Those steps were made by cytop to split a text (btw it works perfecet!!), I just added Function splitText(strSplit As Variant) As Variant ... End Function

VB:
Function splitText(strSplit As Variant) As Variant
Dim datosColumnaIncio() As Variant
Dim iTemp As Integer
Redim datosColumnaIncio(Len(strSplit) - 1)
For iTemp = 1 To Len(strSplit)
datosColumnaIncio(iTemp - 1) = Mid$(strSplit, iTemp, 1)
Next
End Function

So I want to know if its correct like that:

VB:
Function splitText(strSplit As Variant) As Variant
Dim datosColumnaIncio() As Variant
Dim iTemp As Integer

[Code] .....

So when I call the function:

VB : MsgBox splitText("F4")

It throws an error message :s what is wrong or how can I get the array values of a function ???

How To Stop MAX Function Rounding Values

Jul 4, 2014

I have 3 conditions within my spreadsheet, which only 1 condition can have a numeric value in it at any one time.

The result of my calculations returns the following results
Condition 1: False; Condition 2: 168001.5072; Condition 3: False
I then use the MAX command to pick up the cell that has a value in it.
The command I use is: =MAX(L28,N28,P28)

The problem occurs is when I use this MAX command it Rounds up the value from 168001.5072 to 168001.51 - I need to stop this rounding from occurring.

Now I have just been told on this forum about how to use the TRUNC command to stop my original formula from rounding my final value (168001.5072) but I'm not sure if using the TRUNC command will work in this situation.

I can not use the "=" command becuase depending on the values I use any 3 of the conditions can be met, which will mean a value will sit in either condition 1, 2 or 3, so that is why I need to pull the MAX value.

The attached image shows my issue.

The value on the right 168001.5072 is being rounded up and displayed as seen on the left as value 168001.51 and I would like ot know how to stop this from occuring.

Plotting A Function Without Values In Cells

Sep 6, 2008

Is there a way to plot a function, for example y = a + x*b or y = e^x in a graph without it having x and y values in cells of the spreadsheet?

That is, in y = a + x*b, for example, what I'd like to do is have an input cell for a and b, but no cells that show a value of y for every corresponding value of x , and a graph on a chart showing what the function looks like. Thus, the graph would only rely on inputs of a and b and on nothing else. A program called MathCAD does this, but I'm not sure how to do this in excel.

VLOOKUP / Other Function For Multiple Corresponding Values

Dec 25, 2013

I am using the VLOOKUP function to get the exact corresponding value in one particular column. But I need to have two different value in two different columns. Here is an example.

I have attached the excel sheet as well.

Actually I do send the data to my different colleagues and they do send me back with the responses in two different column of D and E corresponding to the "ID" specified in column "B". Which I do need to MAP individually. But I want Excel to map the value of that "ID" (column B) to the corresponding responses in Column D and E with formula.

VLOOKUP generally gives corresponding value to either column D or E but i want both at a time to save time.

Criteria Values In COUNTIFS Function

Dec 2, 2008

I have the following formula in a sheet to record basketball stats that I am putting together.

=COUNTIFS('Running Game Log'!A:A,"=Jarod",'Running Game Log'!C:C,"=2 pt miss")

This formula counts from a list that is generated during in-game recording of stats & obviously counts the number of times "Jarod" misses a "2 pt shot".

My question is can the criteria "Jarod" refer to a value in a cell, rather than the specific name "Jarod" as I want to be able to change player names easily, rather than have to edit this formula every time.

Rank Function Ignoring Only Zero Values

Sep 12, 2013

I'm trying to rank the values in row 94 while ignoring only zero values and including positive and negative values. I'd like the function to rank the values in descending order, beginning with the most positive value and ending with the most negative value while ignoring all zeros. The function I've come up with so far ranks the positive values correctly and ignores the zeros, but the negative values are ranked as if they come after all of the zero values instead of being ranked immediately after the smallest positive value. Is there a way to fix the function below to make it do what I want?

=IF(D94=0,"",RANK(D94,$D$94:$AY$94,0))

IF(AND Function Using LOOKUP For Conditional Values

Dec 3, 2013

I'm new to excel and am attempting to use an IF(AND function that requires the use of two LOOKUP tables for the IF conditions, I have been unable so far to generate the answer I'm looking for.

I have a set of data in two columns, column A which has a series of dates from 1/09/2013 - 30/09/2013 (multiple for each date), and column F which has a series of 4 digit numbers (employee numbers). I also have two columns where I can enter in values for LOOKUP tables, one column for dates (O2:O4) and another for employee numbers (Q2:Q17).

What I am trying to achieve is a True/False answer in a final column for IF A2 = value from column (table) O2:O4, AND F2 = value from column (table) Q2:Q17. For the querry to be true the values in column A and column F must meet both conditions, be from a date in column O2:O4 and also be an employee from column Q2:Q17

=IF(AND(A2=LOOKUP(A2,O2:O4),F2=LOOKUP(F2,Q2:Q17),"Yes","No")

Currently I get a #NA error and I know its due to my formula not being anywhere near correct, as far as I can tell it's a result of the LOOKUP part of the formula I'm attempting to create, as it generates a #NA area when the data does not meet the criteria in the columns (tables), I have attempted to include a ISNA section to the formula to alter the result if the data does not meet the two conditions but when applied to the whole data set it only responds with a False answer even if the data meets both conditions.

Function To Retrieve Only Alphanumeric Values

Row 2 WFH3040 / 3920

Row 3 WFBF3709/3919

Row 4 WG32156/3915, 3911, 3920

Row 5 WG32148129/3915, 2922

I'm trying to use the Left Function to get only the Alpha-Numeric codes only. I'm having the following problems.

1) The alpha-numeric codes are not a standard number of characters (they can vary anywhere from 4 to 10).

2) In some cases the alpha-numeric codes are alone in the column

3) In other cases they are with other numbers with back slashes separating them

4) In the cases where there are back slashes there are spaces, commas and other numbers as well.

Is there a way to use the Left Function to retrieve only Alpha-numeric codes only.

Color Code Values With Function

Mar 5, 2010

I have values that I want to color code in my table. Originally I was tagging them as numbers, but instead I need them as colors.

Function conversion(pVal As Double)

If pVal > 0.05 Then
conversion = "1"
ElseIf pVal > 0.001 Then
conversion = "2"
ElseIf pVal > 0.0001 Then
conversion = "3"
ElseIf pVal > 0.00001 Then
conversion = "4"

End If

End Function

Now I want instead of conversion = "1" etc to be

Function conversion(pVal As Double)

If pVal > 0.05 Then
(make white)
ElseIf pVal > 0.001 Then
(make brighter blue)
ElseIf pVal > 0.0001 Then
(make green)
ElseIf pVal > 0.00001 Then
(make navy blue)

End If

End Function

I want the text and cell the same color (number and cell so the number disappears so that I just have a colored cell but the value is still there if I want to look at it).

Excluding Multiple Values From COUNTIFS Function?

I have multiple rows of data per each column. I'm trying to count rows that match a value that ISN'T any of the expected values in column A as well as a certain value in column G. This is in case future data is introduced that doesn't match the existing codes.

I'm trying to count all rows that DON'T have a value in column A beginning with PUA or P9V, so far I am trying this:

=COUNTIFS(A:A,"<>P9V*""<>PUA*",G:G,"P")

But it only seems to work on the "<>P9V" part. When I put P's in the column G of which the column A matches PUA*, it still counts the cell. I've tried a couple of AND variations but none are working.

TREND Function Calculate 2 Possible Y Values Along A Line

Match Function Doesn't Find Values

What I'm trying to do is as follows:

Column A contains x values and Column B contains another value

A length is entered at the top of the worksheet, when the x value is greater than half the length the values will be mirrored about the centre point.

To do this i'm doing x-(length/2) to give the corresponding value of x on the other side of the length

I can do the If functions etc to sort all this out, but the match function isnt working, see attached, it isn't finding values which are in the list, when i use 0 for exact match, i've tried using 1 but it still isn't finding the correct values.

Range Of Values In A Cell? Vlookup Function

Mar 5, 2009

Column A includes a name
Column B includes an age
Column C states a division (this is the column that contains the Vlookup function)

Column G is where I have to put a range of ages (for instance, x=<0,>3)
Column H is where the division name is.

The idea behind this exercise is to use the Vlookup function in column C to reference column G, and return a value in column H. Here a copy of my formula in column C: =VLOOKUP(B3,$G$3:$H$12,2,TRUE). For instance, if Mike (A) is 16 (B) then he would be in the Midget division (C). C is calculated by comparing column B to G, then returning a value in column H. For some odd reason, I can't get column G to reference an age range, such as 1-5 years old.
