Vista Home Premium - 2007 Office

Feb 15, 2009

I have an older laptop with XP and 2007 Office / Excel this works, with the new laptop doesn't work?

basically - I open a new spreadsheet - blank - just basic

I used to be able to click the data tab, then click From Access, then enter my URL to an access database on my website and BAM my data would populate in cell A1

with VISTA - I get the same error over and over again, tried a different XP machine, no problem? What gives?

error box states: Microsoft Office Excel cannot access the file [url]
there are several possible reasons.

the file name or path does not exist
the file is being used
workbook has the same name

I'm starting to really hate VISTA after about 3hrs with this new laptop!

Formula To Convert Gross Insurance Premium To Net Insurance Premium?

Mar 15, 2014

In Australia we calculate Insurance Premiums usually being a Base Premium, Plus Stamp Duty, Plus Fire Service Levy (FSL) Plus Goods & Services Tax (GST) - there is no GST on Stamp Duty, however Stamp Duty is calculated on the total of Base Premium (+ GST) Plus FSL (+ GST).

See below:
NET TO GROSS i.e. Base plus FSL, plus GST, plus Stamp Duty.
Base PremiumUnderwriter provides
Key in blue box onlyBase785.68
StateSA
TypeMotor
FSL0% 0
GST10% 78.57
Stamp11% 95.07
The total premiums is Total Premium959.32

We want the following formula/calculation to be able to just load a Gross/Total Premium figure and have excel calculate the base premium i.e. Total premium - Stamp Duty - GST - FSL
GROSS TO net

Total Premium
Key in Total Premium00
Stamp duty $- 11%
GST $- 10%
FSL $- 0%
The base premium isBase0.00.0.00

Formulae must allow for changes in % rates above (i.e. 11% stamp duty and 0% FSL may be different in each state and a potential change in the GSTrate) as these differ from each state and we need to show the actual amount of each component i.e. Stamp Duty, GST and FSL in the calculation.

Fire Services Levy (FSL) is calculated on a Base Premium plus GST (10%) - FSL varies from State to State, so we need to be able to input the relevant State % rate, GST is calculated on Base Premium (ex GST) plus FSL (ex GST), Stamp Duty is calculated upon Base Premium (plus GST), FSL (plus GST),

provide the respective formulae so that we can do this calculation ourselves using different rates and Total Premium figures.

Macro Takes Seconds In XP And 2003, Minutes In Vista And 2007

Sep 10, 2008

I have a fairly simple macro that takes a few seconds on my XP-computer with Excel 2003 but takes several minutes on my Vista-computer with Excel 2007.

The XP-PC has 2GB memory, the Vista-PC only 1GB, but it's hard to believe it's only that.
Is Excel 2007 so much slower than 2003?

The macro makes quite extensive use of the .rows(Rownr).Delete method. Is the fact that 2007 has 1 million rows against the 65536 of 2003 the culprit? It has to shift much more data up when deleting a row, no?

Office Web Components In 2007

May 5, 2009

I'm having a bit of an issue with OWC in 2007. I know they have been deprecated but I was under the impression, form many places including MS themself, that you could install them. I downloaded this file

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en

and then the SP1 2007 file here

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

All seems to go well and there seems to be a appropriate .dll in c:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedWeb Components111033 by the name of OWCI11.DLL. However when I attempt to add a reference to that file in a VBA project in Excel (it's one that has an old broken reference to 2003 OWC) by browsing to that file it tells me

"Can't add a reference to the specified file"

What have I done wrong? Is what I am attempting, getting 2007 to use OWC, even possible? Note I did not write any of the code for this Excel Add-in so have very little idea about what OWC are for.

Office 2007 - Where Has The 'do You Want To Update Links' Box Gone

Jan 14, 2008

I'm opening an Excel file that automatically attempts to update links when I open it, but I am not prompted with the choice to cancel, or update links, when I open the file, like I was in Office 2003.

I have checked the Excel Options, Advanced, General, 'Ask to update automatic links' box, but I still don't get the dialog box when I open the file.

The file is just riddled with VALUE errors. A colleague of mine who opens the file in Office 2003 can see all the data fine.

Jun 20, 2007

I want to know what the repayments would be and also allow me to add in each one of the periods and extra repayment option.
So if in the year I wanted to pay an extra $100 per month, I would put $100 next to each period as in a particular period(s) I might not have to put in there but want to predict what the amount owing on the house is.
Is this possible or is this too complicated.

Home Accounts Formula - Retrieve And Add Data ($) From One Column

Aug 25, 2014

I have a category field, and a money spent field in a table.

Category Money spent
1 $12
2 $19
2 $122
1 $5
4 $65
5 $34
5 $12
3 $26

Category 1: $17
Category 2: $$$
and so on..

So I'm looking for a formula that returns information to one cell. A formula that looks if in 'this' column you see the category code '1' for example, then return to me the money spent for ALL the 1's. It should return $17...

The table above is small just for demo purpose, my table has 8 category codes at the moment and the number of rows can be between 15 and 50 I guess... it's a monthly break down.

I would like to see how much is spent in total for each category...

In addition if possible, can this be done for two separate tables... We are two people, and I have two table recording expenditure.

So the formula would need to, from these tables:

Person A Person B
Category Money spent Category Money spent
1 $12 2 $14
2 $192 4 $25
2 $122 4 $65
1 $5 1 $32
4 $65 3 $75
5 $34 3 $85
5 $12 2 $12
3 $26 2 $11

Category 1: $49
Category 2: $$$
and so on...

Look up in both tables, search the two category columns for category '1' for example, then return all the $'s added together... So for Category 1 now it would show $49...

Excel 2010 :: Modify Values In Short List Of Currencies In Home / Number Toolbar

Jun 27, 2013

I recently moved to Central America and now am working on models that are either in $ or in the local currency (Q). I do not want to change my default currency value in the regional settings of the control panel because it is more convenient for me to stay in $ but it is a pain everytime I want to set a worksheet in Q and not in $.

So, I am wondering how I can change the default values in the currency drop-down list on the Home toolbar under Numbers in Excel 2010.

Currently, it gives me the change to apply the following currencies:

- $ English (US)
- £ English (UK)
- € Euro (€ 123)
- ¥ Chinese (PRC)
- fr. French (Switzerland)

Instead of either the £, ¥ or fr., I would like to have listed the Q, my other frequently used currency.

Office Stock Order

Feb 17, 2007

My organisation has ten small offices within a ten mile radius.

Most of the items to order are office supplies, along with order forms, catalogues, brochures and pro-formas.

Each office does not order the same items.

I would like to make a ‘generic’ supplies order in excel.

Column A = ‘in house’ code
Column B = Description
Columns C to G are size, colour, pack size etc.
Column H = quantity held
Column I = quantity required to hold
Column J = amount to re-order.

I would like Excel to calculate

Amount to bring stock to hold - “=I4-h4” (in J4)

If Current Stock is more than Stock to Hold then ‘0’ is in J4, “=IF(H4<I4, I14-H14,0)” (in J4) I think.

If H4 is left blank then J4 to show “0” or ‘Blank’. (experiments have given J4 a figure of 25)

I have tried putting two formulas together, but Excel tells me I have ‘too many arguments’.
