It’s been working perfectly up until around an hour ago. However, now when I close Excel, I get compile errors.
These compile errors seem to be because Excel is trying to access controls in the workbook after it has closed. Since the workbook is closed, VBA can no longer ‘see’ the controls, and therefore it thows up errors.
I’m also getting a similar error on a Worksheets("DataExplorer").unprotect line, which seems to be because the worksheet isn’t there after closing.
These errors only occur when I close the whole excel application using the big cross in the top right. If I just close the workbook (using the smaller cross just below the big cross in the top right of excel), it doesn’t throw up these errors.
Just to clarify: all of the code runs perfectly when Excel is open. The errors are being thrown up for lines of code which run without problem until Excel is closed.
I have a togglebutton for an excel sheet in use for scoring psychological tests. When pressed, the button higlights the cells where a raw score is inserted.
What I need is a code to higlight the togglebutton when pressed, eg. green (colorindex 4). The button is white. How to do this?
Below is the code, It has more lines than needed, but it works.
Private Sub ToggleButton1_Click()
'FKV TOGGLE'
ActiveSheet.Unprotect "manisk"
If ToggleButton1 Then
[Code] ........
I have a userform with a textbox in it. Once you type what you want in the textbox, you click on one of two buttons - either Accept or Cancel. It would be much neater if the userform would close when the user hits the carriage return in the textbox. Anyone know how this can be achieved? Kjartan Auto Merged Post Until 24 Hrs Passes;Doh never mind folks, I figured it out...
Private Sub Userform1Textbox1_Exit(ByVal Cancel As MSForms.ReturnBoolean)
Userform1.Exit
End Sub
I'm trying to make it so that when I hit one button it unlocks the ability to hit two other buttons. I've been trying to do some OnEvent things but they just haven't been working for me.
Ideally I'd like it so that button B and C look like they shouldn't be pressed, perhaps translucent or grey, before button A is clicked, after that they should turn to another a specified colour.
Sample code on disabling the close button in Excel workbook?
I tried the Tool -> Protect -> Check Windows method. But, it will disable the maximize and minimize buttons as well. Moreover, it will minimize the workbook.
How to disable the default close button in a workbook not to affect in my command button close.
I tried already cancel = true but my command button close is also been canceled.
Private Sub ValidarCampos()

Application. ScreenUpdating = False
'Use Cells(Row, Column) for range adddress
r = ActiveCell.Row
c = ActiveCell.Column ..................................
How can I simultaneously with this code put data from textboxes to Active sheet and sheet "Izpisi". So when the button Add(dodaj) is pressed the data goes to active sheet and sheet ("Izpisi") at the same time
I have a problem on auto-sorting my data after clicking the "x" or "Close" button on DataForm. Im creating a command button that trigger a macro to open an autofill DataForm. I want a code that everytime i ADD or EDIT using the DataForm, it will automatically sort the Column A after clicking the "x" or "Close" button. Below is the code of my macro:
Code:
Sub OpenForm()
Sheets("DATA").Select
ActiveSheet.ShowDataForm
End Sub
I have a table of data which contains company names, the number of high risk policies, number of low risk policies, and the percentage of high risk policies (compared to total policies).
What I want to do is for people to be able to select up to six of these companies and press a button that says 'create graph' and it creates a graph which shows the number of high risk and low risk in a stacked bar, and the percentage on a separate axis as a line. I know how to manually create this graph no problem, but to be able to dynamically create one from selected companies would be awesome.
To start with I have created six drop downs where you can select the company name as I image the macro will need to know which companies' data to look for in the source table.
planning a useform to collect data. My thought is to have a command button 1 when pressed will increase textboxA by a value of 1+
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have made an excel workbook detailing team performance that all of my team have access to and that requires updating once a day. The first person to access the workbook each day presses a Command Button that updates the workbook and inserts a time/date stamp. However, other members of the team go into the workbook and update it again the same day which then affects the data being reported.
I know i should probably just sack them for not being able to read the time and date but HR would not like that so is there a way to disable CommandButton1 (ActiveX) so that once it is pressed it is disables until the next day?
I have a situation with a spreadsheet i'm working on.
Basically, when a button is pressed I want it to search for all rows which have a "yes" in an offload column (Column AS, on the sheet "Active") (So it can be yes or no).
If it finds a yes, I need it to move the whole row in to a new sheet called "inactive", then move the remaining results up.
I have taken and played about with a different VBA code, but i'm not sure it's even the right line!
Here is what I have :
Sub Refresh() ByVal Target As Range)
If Target.Column = 45 Then
If UCase(Target.Value) = "Yes" Then
Target.EntireRow.Copy Destination:=Sheets("Inactive"). _
Range("A" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Offset(1)
Target.EntireRow.Delete
End If
End If
End Sub
when I try to do this:
Private Sub Workbook_Open()
UserForm1.show vbnomode
End Sub
I get one of those "Excel has found an error and needs to close......"
and it crashes down
If i want to make a macro button to run for a certain no. of time pressed, like for 100 times, then the button is disabled, how can this be done?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have created a button name "Add Power Source" on excel sheet that adds a table and a button(named "Add Row") to the sheet.Whenever the user clicks the "add power source" button a table and a "Add new row " button is created .This "Add new row" button is used to add rows to the table.
Now suppose the user has pressed the "add power source" button 5 times,so that there will be five table on sheet and each having a "add new row " button associated with it.When the user wants to add a new row to the table 2 say .How will I come to know in which table the rows are to be added using VBA.
I have a workbook with about 53 worksheets one for every week in the year. They are named as follows:
VA-1-1-09 TO VA 12-28-09 All sheets are hidden except the (VA-1-1-09)
What I am trying to do is create some logic that would keep all 52 sheets Very hidden except sheet VA-1-1-09 Till the second week starts at that time what I would like to see happen sheet VA-1-5-09 come out of very hidden and appear visible and send sheet VA-1-1-09 to just a hidden state. I like to have this happen for every week of the year? If this can happen automatically that would be great however a command button clicked once a week would do the trick as well.
I need to know the command to close a workbook. I have used the information found here: http://www.ozgrid.com/VBA/userform-close.htm to disable closing the workbook via the upper right "X", but I need a button that, when clicked, simply closes the workbook instead.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI keep getting an automation error in excel 2010 when I click on the button that executes the macro. Excel crashes when the box appears. There is no code in the error box. Why I get this error message.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I enter a value into a cell and press "ENTER" or press the Right Arrow the whole spread shifts to the left instead of just confirming the entry of the cell and moving one cell(column) to the right.
This is a spreadsheet that I have used for over 3 years so something has changed in one of the settings.
I have Office 2003.
My excel version is 2007 and i am on WIN7 64bit
I have a workbook with VBA which was working fine earlier. Lately i have been getting
"Runtime error 1004" Select method of button class failed.
I am adding buttons dynamically in a loop in a sheet and what surprise me is , i go to debug mode when error pops up and it points to below line
MySheet.Buttons.Add(ActiveCell.Left - 5, 25, 20).Select
but my code is running in a loop and i can see that atleast 20 buttons were added and it fails to select when it try to add this iteration. It is completely confusing me.
My entire below code is in a loop
Code:
maWrk.Cells(xIt1, yIt2).Select
mySheet.Buttons.Add(ActiveCell.Left - 5, 25, 20).Select
Selection.OnAction = "callMe"
[Code]....
I also notice that when it fails, on select method .. the button was actually added to the sheet with caption/name as "Button 65536" but then fails to select it. What makes the select to fail after adding the button? Could there be anything special with Button 65536?
Is there any better way to code the adding button and setting action and name for excel 2007?
note before entering the loop i am deleting all the shapes with myShape.Delete which name matches "btRun"
I also want to highlight that i don't have 65536 rows in my sheet. I just have 200 rows. and when this error happens it is on row 150 so firstly i wonder why it is naming the button as Button 65536. I would assume it will start with 1 and go on increments.
What makes excel to fail to select an added button in VBA?
Is there anyway to easily disable/dim the Excel Close (X) Button as I want to force my users to close an Excel workbook via a button?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI know how to add a save and close button but i do not know how to make it instantly available in every new workbook that i open. Currently i click the button and it looks for the macro in the first excel book that i created it in.
how do i make that macro become a default in every workbook?
i have a command button on a userform which closes the work book, i also want it to close xl. i have tried the following:
Private Sub CommandButton2_Click()
ThisWorkbook.Close
xl.close
End Sub
I have a User form which had a button which redirects me to a certain sheet, e.g. If I wanted to go to stock sheet I would click cmdViewStock and it would open the stock worksheet meaning it works, but the userform still stays open. Is there a way in which once I click the cmdViewStock it opens the Stock worksheet but closes the userform automatically straight after?
Here is the current code I have for the button:
Code:
Private Sub cmdViewStock_Click()
Sheets("Stock").Select
Sheets("Stock").Range("B4").Select
End Sub
most of the users always like to click the close (x) button on the top right of the userform ... and when that happens the application that was set hidden will remains hidden and other users in the network cannot access it ... eventhough i've placed an exit button inside the userform, users still prefer to click the x button.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI want a list to be sorted when a user closes the Excel DataForm. I have the code to execute the sort but how do I attach it to the DataForm Close button?
I have a spreadsheet that has a button named Exit Requisition Program on it to close the application with. When the button is used everything is wonderful. All of the data on the sheet is saved and the application closes. I have a problem with some users clicking the red X without saving changes and that creates a big problem.
What I need to do is any one of several things.
1. Remove the red X completely.
2. Deactivate the red X.
3. Have a message box pop up instructing the user to use the Exit Button when the red X is used. Any one of the three methods listed above would work for me.
I have a useform that loads up with two buttons and I waat to force the user to chose one of the buttons. However, I have noticed that the user can just press the cross in the top right corner of the form to close the window and therefore not press either button.
Is there anyway I can stop the close form button working?
I have this VBA set for a workbook_open event:
Public Sub Workbook_Open()
PromotionOrNewHireForm.Show
Sheet1.Select
End Sub
...which works, but I would prefer to have the form hide (or unload, exit, etc.) once the toggle button in that userform is first selected. I've tried a few things but none of them have worked. BTW, the userform has two toggle buttons, which run the following:
Private Sub ToggleButton1_Click()
Worksheets("Sheet1").Range("A4").Value = "Promotion"
End Sub
Private Sub ToggleButton2_Click()
Worksheets("Sheet1").Range("A4").Value = "New Hire"
End Sub
Also, once it closes, I'd like it to move on to the next macro depending on whether "Promotion" or "New Hire" is selected. Not sure if a workbook_change event is the best way to handle that.
