ADO To Retrieve Records From MS ACCESS Database

Nov 7, 2011

I am using ADO to retrieve records from an MS ACCESS DB in Excel. All my queries work fine but I am having problems with subqueries. My subqueries work fine in ACCESS but when I execute them via ADO I get the following error message:'"The SELECT statement includes a reserved word or an argument name that is misspelled or missing, or the punctuation is incorrect".

with the correct syntax. Alternatively I was thinking of creating a view in ACCESS but that seems not possible.

PHP Code:

Sub retrieve_loan_details()
Dim Provider As String
Dim Source As String
Dim sConn As String
Dim sSql As String
Dim rep_per As Date

Retrieve And Amend Records From Database

Apr 11, 2008

I am a building a database where each row represents a record. Each record has a unique identifier number.

In worksheet "Record Search and Amend", I have recorded a macro to look up the data.

The problem is once the record is retrieved I need to be able to amend the record and save it back into the database in the right row. This could be another button to initiate this action.

I am having a really difficult time with this code. I am trying to fill in some fields on an webpage in an effort to eventually retrieve some data. ADO Delete Database Records

Dec 21, 2006

I'm creating an Excel UserForm where the user can view, edit, and delete records they've entered.

The following code is for Deleting a selected record, and it IS WORKING. But it seems TOO SIMPLE and I want to be sure it's correct and not leaving any loose ends in the Database file that could cause corruption later on....

Sub vCLdbDel()
Dim cnt As ADODB.Connection

Dim dbPath, dbName As String
Dim stSQLAs String
Dim stCon As String
Dim dbid As Long

Run "setvars"

'Get the dbID from the selected Item in the list

dbid = .List(.ListIndex, 6)
End With

'Path & FileName to the Database File
dbPath = M. Range("G2").Value
dbName = M.Range("G3").Value

Posting Records To Access DB

Sep 19, 2012

So I'm recording some data to my access database and am wondering why my data will randomly find a place (row to be exact) between existing records in the table. It doesn't always behave this way, but does periodically. I would like my newly added records to be added new, from the bottom of the table every time. What am I missing from my code?

Code:

Sub RecordOrders()
Set iNv = Sheets("vnbinv")
Ir1 = iNv.Cells(Rows.Count, "B").End(xlUp).Row
Set wS = Sheets("1vnb")
Call OpenSessame
With rs

View Database Records By Condition

May 8, 2008

I am having trouble with my excel spreadsheet, which I am using in effect as a database. I do realise that Access or something would be better but lets just say I'm forced to use this method.

Basically, i have a table of records storing names and addresses, identifiable by a reference number, "ID" eg. record number 001,002 etc.

I need to be able to display a given ID number's record on a different sheet in the same document. I have already achieved this by using a macro and some VLOOKUP's.

So, in my second sheet, I have person 001 for example and their name, address, post code, telephone number is displayed each in its own seperate cell.

What I need to do now, is create a macro of some sort that will allow me to save this record back over the original record in the table (in sheet 1).

Paramarray To Write Records To Access

Dec 21, 2009

I'm trying to simplify things a bit and create one sub with the appropriate parameters. My experience is limited with arrays so I thought I'd get snagged right where I did. I want to pass a paramarray, which contains two "columns", the access table field names and matching columns from the excel worksheet. This way, to add records to a table, I can simply pass the table name, source worksheet, and paramarray that provides the field/ column info. I'm getting the error "Wrong number of dimensions."

Sub test()
Dim testArray(0 To 4, 0 To 1) As Variant
'Write the field names and corresponding columns to an array. The first array "column represents the access
'table field names, the second is the corresponding column from the excel worksheet.
testArray(0, 0) = "Test1"
testArray(0, 1) = 1................

Automatically Combining Records From 2 Files Into One Database

Aug 30, 2013

Specifically, I have customer sales data from my web site that contains order numbers and sales data. From Google analytics, I have transaction information that also contains the order number. The data element that is common to both is order number. I can't just paste columns from one file into the other because the records listed in rows may not match up.

I don't want to have to copy and paste data from one file to another for each record manually since I have thousands of records. Is there a way to merge the two files together automatically by having Excel "understand" that it should pair the two files together using the order number to create a row that contains data from both files?

Pulling Access Records Between Dates Via Excel

Feb 21, 2014

I have a database in access that is manipulated via excel VBA.

what I need to be able to do is pull back a report based on 2 dates (dependent on the dates the user choses), I cant quite get the syntax to work.

Code:
sSQL = "SELECT * FROM Log WHERE [Date] = Between reportstart.value AND reportend.value"

is where the code falls down. I can do the report without using dates and pull the whole table but cant get the daters bit to work

Reportstart.value and reportend.value are merely textboxes that have dates entered into them (automatically converts to the same format of date as the databse has)

Reading And Writing To Access Database

May 10, 2013

I have made an invoicing system that when opened reads a record number and also pulls through some data from an excel document on our server. The user then inputs his information and clicks submit and this will write to the excel document updating the invoice no by one for the next invoice the problem is that this is slow as when writing to the excel worksheet it has to open the document update it then close and save the worksheet on the server. I am trying to speed this up by using a access database on the server but I am having trouble trying to work out how to do this as I have never communicated with another type of document. I found some code witch I am trying to modify but It comes up with a 424 error:

Code:
Sub Auto_Open()
Set conn = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
conn.Provider = "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0"
conn.Open "\TWKKLNGNational Electronics DocumentsWorksorder DatabaseElectronics Notification system.accdb"

Best Way To Populate Worksheet From Access Database

Mar 8, 2008

I have an excel worksheet that I need to populate with a few thousand data points from MS Access. Currently I do this through vba code somewhat similar to this:

rst2.Open myQueryString, cnn, adOpenKeyset, adLockOptimistic, adCmdTableDirect
Do Until rst2.EOF
wsht1.Cells(1+counter, 1) = rst2!val
rst2.MoveNext
counter = counter +1
Loop
rst2.Close

Now this method works, but it is pretty slow to load. I remember reading as a general excel optimization technique you should avoid using long loops accessing cells on an individual basis.

Is there a better way for me to dump large clumps of Access data into Excel, instead of populating it cell by cell?

Workbook Which Both Imports Data From An Access Database

Aug 28, 2009

I have created a workbook which both imports data from an access database and exports data to same. Some of the data I need to access is dependent on parameters which the user will change in excel e.g. I need to extract PeriodID (ID for a month end date) based on a date in a speified cell in excel.

MS Query is a very handy way to achieve this as the wizards automate almost everything. However, this workbook will be shared on a common drive on a server (as will the database). Initial testing suggests that the connection and queries I'm making on my machine do not work on other people's machines.

What is the best way to achieve the queries in excel which query data from an Access Database, but will work on all machines accessing the sheet from a shared drive? Is there any way I can avoid writing complex VBA code for this? I have an awful lot of specific queries like the one I mentioned above to perform.
