Add Option Unavailable When Selecting Data For Chart
Jul 22, 2013
I have a termination report in which i would like to display data via a graph. However, when I right click to select the data it wont let me add the fields that I want to use.
I have made a macro which generates a bar chart for many sets of data.
I'm having a problem at the moment however, as I need to generate a line graph on the same chart. How does one generate another x-axis and graph on a chart? Let me know if you want to see my current macro.
I'm working on a macro that creates columnplots from a sheet of data.
The sheet is organised as a series of tables. Through a userform, the user selects the columns and rows that she wishes to include in the plot.
Is it possible to control the order in which the data is plotted? For instance, the macro produces the following range to be plotted:
"$D$29, $B$29, $C$29,D33:D31,B33:B31,C33:C31"
where row 29 contains the table headlines, and rows 31:33 contains the data. However, when I plot this, it always ends up as column B, then C, then D, rather than D first like I wanted.
I'm fairly new to both Excel and Visual Basic, so it's difficult to explain exactly what I'm after, but hopefully someone will understand what I'm after here..
I have made a simple procedure (which will extend to make something that I have to make but for time being) it asks user to select a chart type in a userform using option buttons and then the chosen chart type is taken as the chart type and makes the chart.
problem is that the typechart - variable to identify the chosen chart type - is not being recognised. Here's the coding, the variable is not passed (in yellow bolded) from one procedure to another?
Private Sub NextButton_Click() Call ShowType If bFlag = False Then MsgBox "Not Selected" Call ShowType Else Call MakeChart End If End Sub
I'm making a risk chart which i want to select data automaticly.
It currently is possible to select a characteristic. After selecting the characteristic i want the chart to update, having only the risks with that characteristic in it. But it also has to select on impact level and chance%.
Is there any way to let Excel auto select the Risk discription and copy it into the chart?
below are 2 pictures, 1 an example database of risks and an example of how the chart should, more or less, look like when i select the financial characteristic.
I have some code that parses an html table. I want to put in error handling in case the format of the page changes or the internet page is unavailable. I am testing without an internet connection and the run time error is not being branched off to the error handler and is fatally ending the macro. This is true also if I raise an error manually.
Private Sub ParseInjuryPage() On Error Goto ErrorHandl Dim strPage As String Dim webIE As SHDocVw.InternetExplorer Dim myURL As String Dim tableBeg As Long Dim tableEnd As Long Dim RowBeg As Long Dim rowEnd As Long Dim cellBeg As Long Dim cellEnd As Long Dim strBeg As Long Dim strEnd As Long Dim myCell As Range Dim rowNum As Integer With Sheets("INJ") Set myCell = .Range("A2") .Range("A:F").Value = vbNullString rowNum = 2 Set webIE = New SHDocVw.InternetExplorer myURL = "http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/injuries" webIE.Navigate myURL Do Until webIE.ReadyState = READYSTATE_COMPLETE DoEvents Loop strPage = webIE.Document.body.innerhtml...................................
I have several option groups (Y & N in each) linked to cells to display TRUE / FALSE depending on which option is selected in each group. I have another cell which I want to apply conditional formatting to if EITHER Y or N is selected in all groups. At present I use COUNTIF to check for FALSE=0 in the linked cells which works if all the answers are Y. How do I apply CF if there is a mixture of Y & N (TRUE / FALSE) in all groups (I'm not sure if I've explained that well or not).
I need to plot various data on top of stock charts.
This data could be irregular in date: it could be weekly, or simply random.
To plot this data by itself requires a Scatter Chart.
From what I know so far, you CANNOT DO THIS.
However, I suspect this could be done if I build a Stock Chart from scratch using a Scatter Chart.
Error bars can be used to make the tails, however, I don't know how they built the body bar which has the characteristics of a bar (border, and interior.)
But since I don't really need those two characteristics, I just need a wider error bar line that is provided in the chart edit window. I'm guess through a macro, there are wider line widths assignable.
I am looking for a creative way to display a pie chart within a data point marker of a line chart.
My database has 3 value columns, Type1, Type2 and the Total (Type1 + Type2) these are recorded per day (Date, in Column A)
I have a line chart that displays the total by date, but I want to find a way to display the percentage split of a particular day by type.
I was thinking to load the chart image into the Data point marker, but i don't think that is the best way as the data is updated daily and I would have to do it each day for a few line charts.
The other way I was thinking about was to have a generic Pie chat in the Line chart (Maybe in a corner) and the pie would update depending on way date series was selected or Mouseover'd)
the way that I am approaching it at the movement (Not the best way and by far not the coolest way. Is to have a list of all the dates in a column next to the Line chart and using some VBA, what ever date is selected in the column the pie chart displays the corresponding data. But eh challenge is that when there is alot of dates, I am going to be scrolling up and down.
I am using Excel 2010, but I cant not use the slicer's as the other users do not have 2010, they have 2007.
I have a spreadsheet created in Excel 2003 (which is what we use at work, unfortunately).
My employees periodically take a test to ensure they have certain items memorized (or are making progress to that end). The spreadsheet rows show all 46 of my employees, and their test scores. The columns are the dates that the tests are administered. I can create a line graph based on the chart data, and interpolate these data with no problems.
The problem is that there are 46 employees! 46 lines on the same graph make for a very cluttered, hard to understand visual. I want to simplify the view by "filtering out" some of the data.
I have an additional column in my spreadsheet for each employee's work area (Area 1, Area 2, etc), and another column with data based on first letter of last name (the values here could be "A-G", "H-M", "N-S" and "T-Z", for example). I figure i could filter my line graph based on these two columns. For example, somehow select just Area 1, and reduce the number of lines on the graph to 16. Or better yet, Choose "Area 2" AND "A-M" and end up with 7 employees (and therefore 7 lines on the graph).
Here's what i have tried:
1) Select the work area column, and use the Filter, which created a drop-down list at the column heading. When i use this drop-down list, i can easily filter the data in the worksheet by Work Area, but this is not reflected in the line graph, which still shows all 46 lines. The problem was that i forgot that i had set the Calculation Options to "Manual". Setting this to "Automatic" (or leaving it on Manual and pressing F9) solved the problem, as the chart now updates when i use the filters. Calculation options are under the "Formula" tab in 2007, or in Tools -> Options -> [either calculation or formula, i forget what it's called] in 2003.
2) Create several separate line graphs in several separate sheets. I wouldn't want to assign someone else the task of maintaining a spreadsheet of such inefficient design.
I am trying to combine data from multiple worksheets and make a chart. I have about 200 keywords in every worksheet (about 50), and some of them repeat themselves through worksheets and some don't. For every keyword, I have an associated value in the next column that I want to portray over time (each worksheet is for a different period).
So what I need to figure out is how to be able to pick any 10 keywords from the worksheets and put them in a line chart where I can see the associated value for each period for every worksheet so I can compare my keywords' efficiency. The tricky part is that some worksheets do not contain the keyword and other worksheets contain the keyword in a different cell than the previous wsheet.
I have a chart with 3 data series. The series are located in columns A, B and C respectively. Series I is a general number anywhere from 0 to 100,000. Series 2 is also a number, but is is devided by series 1. So, if series 1 was 100,000 then series two would be 25,000/100,000 which is 0.25. Series three will always be numerator of series 2 or 25,000 in this example. The numerator, or the 25,000 will never change, so, in my example, series three will be a straight line across the chart because it is always 25,000.
In my example, the .25 is plotted on the left value axes, and series one is plotted on the right value acccess (secondary axis). Series three is just a line in the middle.
My problem is that sometimes the line, series 3, doesn't match the values in both the right and left values axes. So, if series one is 48,000, then series two would be 48,000/48,000 = 1, and series three would be 48000 - the straight line. The third series should be a line touching the 48,000 on the right and the number 1 on the left. It does touch the 48000 on the left, but is below the number 1 on the left.
I am currently using 2 options button (radio button) to display different sets of data interactively. 1st option to show data for Male, 2nd option to show data for Female. No problem for both as I am using "choose" =CHOOSE($M$6,J56,J49) formula to display them on row 11th to 17th. But if I were to add in 3rd option called "Both", how do I need to do so? I am expecting the display to go beyond row 18th to show both Male and Female data. There is a chart too that links to these row 11th - 17th currently.
This area of my worksheet, Sheets("ACTIVITY").Range("AM2:AM172"), is currently populated by text values from a dynamic, validated list, 'DEL_2'.
Is there a simple way to effectively 'toggle' (on/off) data validation - maybe with right-click - in this area, so that the user can type what they want if their chosen option can't be found in DEL_2?
I am using the data validation option on a range of cells.
On the 'Error Alert' tab I am checking the box for 'Show error alert after invalid data is entered', selecting the 'Stop' style of warning (which should completely prevent entry of invalid data), but the cells with the data validation still allow entry of invalid data. No warning is given either that the data is invalid.
I'm trying to change the default option for the data series when graphing in Excel 2003 .... I am trying to create a line graph
Excel, by default, is putting static pressure on the x axis and the air flow on the y axis .... I need it to be the other way around
I have found out that: By default, Excel plots whatever you have fewer of—rows or columns—as the data series
apparently it is possible to change this Excel default option, but I can't figure that out
in step 2 of the Chart Wizard, I have tried many different things, but can't get Excel to chart the Air Flow CFM on the x axis, and have static pressure values on the y axis
I'm creating a form with drop downs, and I'd like the answer choice someone makes for one question (ie- what county they're in) to affect the answer choices for a secondary question (ie- what city they're in).
I'd like to avoid using names, at least for the second dropdown (since there would be too many names, and in some of the questions in the data set things change too much for names to be a good option). I would also like to avoid using VBA to keep it simple and maintainable. Here is a simplified version of a small subset of the data.
Drop Down 1: County (options: Santa Clara County, Napa County) Drop Down 2: Cities/Towns (options: the cities/towns that relate to the above county selection, without using names)
I am using the following code to find a NAME in my work sheet and to enter their status. But this macro is not compatible if a duplicate or Similar name exist. What I need is I need this macro to activate the search NAME Cell and then a VB box with OK & NEXT button has to appear. if the activated NAME is exactly the one I am searching, then I will click the OK button then it should display the "Enter Employee Status" box and as continue in my code, But If I press NEXT, the macro should search the next similar NAME and activate it, This process should continue until I click the OK button. (Same like CTRL+F function with an additional Status entry button)
Code: Sub Button1848_Click() Application.ScreenUpdating =False Dim BeginCol AsLong
I'm trying to do a few things actually. I am somewhat a newb at programming, although I do understand how C++ and the coding works within Excel. To me, it's like the English language...knowing all of the vocabulary and formatting it right is important. If I don't know the vocabulary, I don't know what options I have.
This tool is being used in the call center I work in. It is to help eliminate repititious information used to notate accounts. I have attached a picture of what the tool looks like so you can have a better idea of what I'm working with. Here are a list of things I'm trying to do which I have searched and not found answers to:
1. I am trying to use a middle mouse scroll to scroll through validation list. This list information is located on a different locked tab. Basically, I have a few rows where a drop down selection can be made and it would be easier to scroll rather than manually moving the slider within the validation list.
2. As you can see, this "tool" an employee and I have created has many buttons. What I would like to do is to be able to click a button on the right and have it "stack" text within a single cell. In other words, if I click the button once, the text may be entered into the "actions taken" cell. If I click another button, I can have the option (or maybe a little "+" next to the button) to add this button's information to the end of the information already entered within the "actions taken" box. I've tried recording and using the keyboard and selecting "end" and then having the text added, but it didn't work. I've seen "loop" VBA code, but I don't want something to repeat, I want it to stack in the cell when clicked manually.
I'm sure there is a way to make the tool much better using VBA code and not use Excel, but I don't have an extensive knowledge of Excel to do something like that. I'm a very fast learner and understand how the coding works, so if you have an idea which may help, and you understand what I'm trying to do here, please provide your .02.
Basically, it's used so the Customer's name and phone number are entered manually, and then just about everything else is automated by the use of the buttons on the right. If I could get the 2 above options to work, it'd be perfect. I just figured out I could eliminate screen flicker and hide the macros working by using:
So I want to calculate the average price per second. Is there any formula to tell Excel that it should sort it by second and further calculate the average price of it.
when run a macro to make the macro select all the cells in a specific column that only contain data i.e. i have a spreadsheet 5 columns wide by 23 rows deep, the macro at the moment selects the 5 columns (this never changes) but the number of rows always changes 123, 56, 1, etc i need to to always select the rows that have data.
I have a worksheet with about 10,000 rows of data and from this raw data I need to create 60 or so separate spreadsheets for 60 different companies- so around 160 some row actually pertain to a given client. However, it's not fixed and from one month to the next the actual number of rows changes so I can't just use a simple range. There are two possible ways to mark that the data pertains to a new client. But it will be easier to just show a quick example:
1/1/2014 CompanyA
Total CompanyA
1/1/2014 CompanyB
So anytime it runs into "Total" in column 1 it should know to start another iteration or when the cell in column b does not equal the cell directly above it. Below is a truncated version of what I have so far:
Sub MonthlyStatements() ' ' MonthlyStatements Macro ' ' Keyboard Shortcut: Ctrl+w ' Dim taxi As String Range("F32").Select Workbooks.Add
I have that list in column B and I want to put only those cells that end in "RET" in column C and put only those that don`t end in "RET" in column D, by using an automatic method, otherwise I`m gonna have to do it many times in many worksheets manually ;/
I need a macro that will, (i) make a copy of the current sheet, (ii) let the user select the month to be selected from a list (Message box), then (iii) delete all other columns in the sheet that is not from the selected month and then, (iv) total the data of the selected month in the empty cell on the right.
The sheet contains data in the following way:
Column A = Description of data in rows Column B to IV = in each column is a specifics day data Row 1 = Branch Name Row 2 = the date in the format 2006/05/16 for 16 May 2006 Row 3 – 361 = financial data
I am trying to graph the following data in an area chart with line charts superimposed on the area chart. I have a lot of data (and a lot going on) so I'm trying to figure out the best way to show this in excel from a functional standpoing (i can't get this to work in excel!!) to also an asthetic standpoint (dont want it to look terrible or illegible). This is what I'm trying to chart:
1) Weather data (temperature) by region: So one region, would be: Northwest I would like the "area" (so a shaded region) to be the min/max of the temperature data for each month.
2) I would like to show the temperature for each year as a line graph on the chart - so you can see if a year falls in or out of the shaded region.
3) I would like to show a company's sales increases across the same months per year as separate line charts. I may choose to just show the biggest outlier year in the end... or to show 2006 (the latest data).
What I am trying to convery with the chart is that the company's sales is or is not tied to weather deviations. I have attached an excel file with the data. I haven't been able to use the area chart or get a two axis chart to work or get it to look even remotely professional.
I have 2 worksheets where I need to transfer a certain amount of data from one to another depending on dates.
Sheet ‘A’, is the main data source. Col A holds all 365 dates from 1 Jan to 31 Dec(starting at A2), and the subsequent data for each day is held in cols B to P. Sheet ‘B’ is the destination where the user will specify a key date in cell A3, then in A4 to A32, formulae populate the next 29 dates (ie so there is a continuous run of 30 days).
What I need to do, is to identify the same 30 day range from sheet B on sheet A, then to copy the data in Cols B to P for that range back onto sheet B (pasting in at D3)
