Combo Box Additem - Run-time Error - Invalid Argument

Nov 28, 2008

I've written an Excel (using 2007, compatibility mode to 2003) app for our stock control. Basically it's a protected stock sheet which the user adds/removes stock via a form.

When the user runs the form the following code loops through the stock list header adding item names to a combo box. Problem is I get a run-time error if there's more than 60+ items but while the error always occurs, it happens at different places in additems.

Run-time error '-2147024809 (80070057)
Invalid argument.

In the code I've allowed a loop to 1000 items but in reality they'll be no more than 150.

Add 3 Columns To Listbox By AddItem

Jun 12, 2014

I am trying to use AddItem to add 3 columns in a listbox. (I know I can use Me.ListBox1.List=Array() ... but here I want to use AddItem)

From AddItem:

For multiple-column lists, use semicolons to delimit the strings for each column (for example, "1010;red;large" for a three-column list).

Here is my code but complete string is shown in 1 column where semicolon are visible. What am I doing wrong? I have also attached my example in a file.

UserForm ListBox AddItem

May 6, 2007

I have this part of code that populates my ListBox

With UserForm1.ListBox2
.AddItem ActiveCell.Offset(0, 7).Value
.AddItem ActiveCell.Offset(1, 7).Value
.AddItem ActiveCell.Offset(2, 7).Value
.AddItem ActiveCell.Offset(3, 7).Value
.AddItem ActiveCell.Offset(4, 7).Value
.AddItem ActiveCell.Offset(5, 7).Value
.AddItem ActiveCell.Offset(6, 7).Value
.AddItem ActiveCell.Offset(7, 7).Value
.AddItem ActiveCell.Offset(8, 7).Value
.AddItem ActiveCell.Offset(9, 7).Value
.AddItem ActiveCell.Offset(10, 7).Value
End With
It draws the Values (names) off of Sheet1 and ActiveCell is B26

Question one: Is there a better way of writing this and for it to stop adding to the ListBox once there is no Value in the Offset cell....

Each ListBox Is Populated Via .AddItem

Dec 15, 2009

I have a userform (seen below) in which the user selects any number of ZIP Codes (right - ListBox2) after selecting a county/location (left - ListBox1.)

My dilema is that I need to somehow record the selections for EACH county/location, while making sure that when saving the selected ZIP's to the "Area Associations" sheet, I don't create duplicates. Of course any ZIP deselected needs to not be recorded to the sheet.

The "Area Associations" sheet is set up as follows:
[Any given row after row 1]
Column A = Area (Area is selected prior to the userform being displayed)
Column B - ??? = the selected ZIP's

The selected ZIP's do NOT have to be in any specific order, because I have a routine to search through the row looking for any instance of any particular ZIP Code.

FYI - Each ListBox is populated via .AddItem

LstMullBkBx.AddItem "SCW061 - 100mm Box"

I tried this but it adds them on the same line which is no good.

Listbox Control Source Causing Error

Oct 26, 2008

why this is causing an error upon opening the file. This workbook has a userform with a listbox (single list, single selection), and when I have the ControlSource property set it causes an error upon opening the userform (which opens when the file is opened), whereas if I do not have the ControlSource property set to anything, it seems to work fine.

Interestingly, if I set the file up to not open the userform with the file, and instead have the userform open when a worksheet control such as a command button is clicked, it doesn't seem to matter if the ControlSource property is set or not. The workbook in question is attached.

Run-time Error Every Other Time The Macro Runs

Oct 10, 2006

I'm not sure why this is happening, but every other time I run this one specific macro, I get a "Run-time error '1004': Paste method of Worksheet class failed". I even tried running this macro, then running a different one, then running this again, but I still got the error every other time.

Every time I get the error, it highlights this line of
Sheets("Regenerate Request").Paste

This is all of the code up to where I get the error:

Sub YesRegen()
' after user has hit Yes on the RegenerateRequest macro, this posts the new request to

Application.Run "LogUnprotect"

Random Unspecified Error On Listbox Clear Method

Oct 24, 2006

On a userform, I have a listbox named "eList" containing Employee Names.
I have 2 other listboxes named "List_eTrained" and "List_eNotTrained" which list the Training completed and Training not yet completed for the selected Employee.

When I click Name items, it updates both listboxes with information (using "AddItem").
Before it updates, I use this code to clear the info listbox items:

TrainingDetails.List_eTrained.Clear
TrainingDetails.List_eNotTrained.Clear

When I run the form and click on various entries, it works as expected. At random though, I get this:

Run-time error '-2147467259 (80004005)':
Unspecified error.
And only this line is highlighted in Debug mode: TrainingDetails.List_eNotTrained.Clear

Sometimes it happens after going through several names, sometimes it happens when clicking the 2nd or 3rd name. It's only happening on the "List_eNotTrained" line though--the other line is fine--which has me really puzzled.

I'm hoping someone else has run into this before and might know what's causing this random, unspecified error.....

Error Message "run Time Error '424' Object Required"

Aug 17, 2008

For some reason my form won't open when the workbook is opened. I get an error message "run time error '424' object required" (which happens when I have Form1.show in the BOTH workbook_open event and the userform_initialize event (oops)). When I removed form1.show from the userform_initialize I don't get an error but I also get no form. I recall having this issue before but I can't recall how to fix it.

Can I call the userform_initialize event from the workbook open event to get around this successfully and properly?

Run Time Error 1004 (Application Defined Or Object Defined Error)

ActiveCell.Formula = "=SUM(D222,D224,D226,D227,D229,...)"

In the actual line of code the "..." above is another 20-30 or so cells in column "D". Probably no more than 150-170 characters in the line.

If I remove half of the cell range names it works, but I need all of the cell ranges for the equation.
