Adding Variable To Specific Sheetname In A Sumif Function

Feb 4, 2010

Hi, looking for help desperately in fine tuning a formula. I have a formula at the moment (which works) for searching through a list on a separate file and totalling up all values which relate to it, see below:

=sumif([filename.xls]1’!$B:$B,D10,’[filename.xls]1’!$H:$H)

The tab ‘1’ in the formula relates to the first of the month so this month there are 28 different tabs with similar information.

With C10 containing the date in this instance, does anybody know a way of making ‘1’ a variable so that entering ‘04/02/10’ would change it automatically into a 4? (Unfortunately for me changing the 1 to =c10 didn’t work).

Adding Another Condition To Sumif Function?

Jan 8, 2014

Below is my function.

="Profit $"&SUM(IF(Sold!D15:D8998<>"",IF(MONTH(Sold!D15:D8998)=A4,Sold!H15:H8998)))

I would like to edit this function to also count profit only if Cell A15:A8998 in my Sold sheet has the words "Shipped". The text value Shipped is not a text value I entered, it is automatically written based on a Vlookup formula I created.

Defining Variable Range In Sumif Function With VBA Within Table

Jul 28, 2014

I sum number of articles that are coming in on one sheet and articles going out on another. The total of In - Out is a separate value. All three values are placed on a third sheet.

The following code I use does the job, but I have to use a set range in the SumIf function. I want to be able to use a variable for the lastrow of a table colum.

VB:
Private Sub ArttotKnop_Click()

Dim Klanttel As Integer
Dim Rij, vLastRow, iLastRow As Long
Dim varResult, varMin, varTotal As Variant

iLastRow = Sheets("Ingebracht").ListObjects("Ingebracht").ListRows.Count
[Code] ....

Since my table grows larger every day I want to use variables.

Where I wrote A2:A500, B2:B500, B2:B550 and D2:D550 I want to be able to replace A500 and B500 with A and B + the variable iLastRow. The same for B550 and D550 with the vLastRow variable

Tried using:
.Range("A2:A" & iLastRow)
.Range("A2", Cells(iLastRow, 1))
.Range(Cells(2, 1), Cells(iLastRow, 1))

They don't work.

Adding Multiple Cells From Multiple Sheets With Sumif Function

Jan 20, 2009

I'm trying to put together a spreadsheet that tracks disc capacity increases, affected by any incoming projects. I've managed to do so for one project, but would like to for up to 10. The way i've designed the solution (i'm sure there are far more elegant ways, but hey) is thus:

A forecast worksheet keeps track of a grand total, taking information from sheets P1 -> P10 (being projects 1 to 10). I am unable to figure a way to add up all the increases from all 10 project worksheets with one succinct formula. What I use so far is: ='P1'!C83+SUMIF('P1'!E82,"=2009 - Q1",'P1'!D82) ..................

Performing A Specific Function Repeatedly But With Variable Values Each Time?

May 13, 2014

The spreadsheet has over 200K rows and two dozen columns. My job is to:

1. There are two columns, one is called OCR code where we have repeating ID's and other column is called Minutes Count which is basically a number. I have to filter the OCR column for similar OCR codes(values) and then add their time(Minute Count) so that I get total minutes for a specific OCR code. After adding the min I will copy them into a new sheet with the code in one column, total minutes in another and number of repeatitions for that specific OCR code or count number in a separate column. Example:

OCR_Code; Minutes
54xg; 456
45fk; 65
23IS; 18
54xg; 971
45fk; 265
.
.
.

Now I've to filter 54xg so that I can only see it and its corresponding minutes. Then I will add up all min for 54xg. Then I will count the number of instances a 54xg has been repeated in spreadsheet(here its 2 but it can be in hundreds in my case). Last thing is to transfer all this data to a new sheet. And automatically repeat the process for other OCR codes like 45fk, 23IS etc...

Formula- To Pull Cell Values Similar To A SUMIF Function (SUMIF(range,criteria,sum_range))

Oct 25, 2007

I am trying to pull cell values similar to a SUMIF function (SUMIF(range,criteria,sum_range)). For example, in A1 I use a data list created from data elsewhere on the spreadsheet. In the data I created elsewhere, there are 2 columns being used. The 1st column is the information that is being used to create the list and the second column contains specific values (number or text). In the dropdown menu I select an available value (text or number) . When I have selected that value I would like cell A2 to show what the cell directly to the right of it shows from the data I have elsewhere in the spreadsheet as mentioned. I have tried the SUMIF function however it seems to exclude certain values (number or text) and I am not sure what else to use.

Sumif With Variable In Cell

May 13, 2007

I have a large range which contains serial numbers (8 characters long) for a product and the quantity sold for each. Range is B2:C5000. Beside it on the worksheet I have the serial numbers for each product family (the first 4 characters of the serial number). Range is F2:F100. Now I'm trying to sum the quantity sold for each product family. I.E. trying to sum the quantities for the serial numbers in column B which contain the first 4 characters from column F

Here's what I tried: Sumif(B2:B5000, "*1234*",C2:C5000) This works but requires me to manually enter the serial numbers from column F (here I just randomly wrote 1234). Therefore, is there a way to take the Sumif and it the criteria part to tell it to look at the value in F2,F3,F4... and sum the quantities for the serial numbers which contain the value in that cell.

Excel 2007 :: Sumif Command Adding 2 Different Part Numbers Together?

Apr 10, 2013

I have a Excel 2007 spreadsheet of part numbers and quantities sold. In the spreadsheet we have similar part numbers, but my sumif command is adding these together. the parts are :

0124225031
R124225031

My column of part numbers is formatted as text

My formula is this =SUMIF(Sheet1!H:H,A16,Sheet1!Q:Q) where H is the part number and Q is the quanity

I tried adding a format command in the sumif command, but it returned a 0. =SUMIF(Sheet1!H:H,format(A16,"0"),Sheet1!Q:Q)

better formula and why is excel adding different part numbers together?

Sumif Several Sheets And Using A Variable Criteria Range

Oct 23, 2008

Currently I’m using several formulas to acquire my result; I know it can be abbreviated to a more compact formula.

I have four Sheets. One summary sheet and SheetA, SheetB and SheetC containing Data.
All sheets are documented in an equal format, e.g.: in column A: Date, column B: Code (A, B, C or D) and Column C: values.

Criteria are located in the summary sheet e.g.: A2: 1-1-2008 A3: 2-1-2008 and B2: A, B3:B
The data sheets are listed in H1:H3.

The results should cover a sum of col C over the sheets by using the critiria listed in summary sheet.

The criteria range is variable; sometimes I only want to use one criteria and sometimes more.

Summing 3D Range According To Sheetname

Apr 28, 2012

I have a set of 50 large spreadsheets each with the same size and structure.

I have a summary sheet which contains cells that each contain a single-cell 3D range across all the sheets.

But I'd like to modify this summary sheet to find a way of summing a subset of the 50 sheets according to a given criteria.

I imagine this could be a single criteria added to one cell in each of the 50 sheets.

Or perhaps it could be a letter in each sheet's name. eg, if the letters used as criteria are say G, P and S, I would name the sheets something like G1, P2, G3, S4, P5, ....S49, G50.

Perhaps this could be achieved with the indirect function or will it be necessary to resort to VBA?

Lookup With 'sheetname' In Formula

Oct 12, 2009

I am collecting a lot of prices from over 60 countries. Each country has a seperate sheet in a workbook, named "Country" Spec (eg Australia Spec, China Spec etc.).
These sheets are all setup exactly the same.

I have the following sheet wherin I want to show the data coming from all the different sheets:

| a | b
-----------------------------------
1 | Australia Spec | "Formula"
-----------------------------------
2 | Bangladesh Spec | "Formula"
-----------------------------------
3 | China Spec | "Formula"

In B1, 2 3 etc I want to do a lookup of a fixed cell on the correct country sheet. Therefore I want to include the sheetname in the formula. Thus I would like in B1 the content of cell q13 of sheet Australia spec. In B2 the content of cell q13 of sheet Bangladesh Spec.

My current formula is:
=INDIRECT(a1&"!$Q$13")

But it doesn't work

How To Use Cell Value As Sheetname In HLOOKUP Formula

Calculate Week Number From Sheetname

Oct 18, 2006

Daily i import sheets into excel and the sheet name is uniformed to the following

20061017_BNKREC - 20061018_BNKREC - 20061019_BNKREC ..........

just for clarity purposes

[2006] = year, [10] = month, [17] = previous day, [_BNKREC] = report type

I'll be creating a graph to which shows account balance by week, by account.
The data will be coming in daily. i know i will need to create either a dynamic range or copy my data into a new sheet. My head is spinning because i need excel to somehow (either in a formula or VB) determine what WorkingWeek the sheet is in. I dont want to have to keep adjusting formulae or ranges when import a new sheet..

Adding Variable To Autofill

Jul 9, 2014

The cells A2:A25 are merged in my excel sheet and I would like to create subsequent merged cells below the A2:A25 set; however, I would like the user to determine the number of merged cell boxes.

The code I have written is as follows:

Dim lr As Long
lr = Application.InputBox("How many days was the monitor deployed?", Type:=2)
If lr = 0 Then Exit Sub Else lr = lr

Range("A2:A25").Select
Selection.AutoFill Destination:=Range("A2:A" & lr * 24), Type:=xlFillDefault
Range("A2:A" & lr * 24).Select

End Sub

So I am creating a macro where the user opens a message box and types in a value representing the number of days. That value is then calculated into an autofill equation but I keep getting an error.

Macro For A Sumif Function?

Aug 19, 2013

I'm having a little problem with the function Sumif. I have data like this:

Date
0
0

Total
0
78[code]...

I want to some all the Totals that appear before the "End Notification" text. I have more totals after that text and the number of rows are variable.

In my data, I have always 4 totals before that text, so I thought perhaps that the way to do this would be to impose to the sumif function to stop summing after counting 4 totals. I didn't find a way to do that.

I thought a little more on the problem and I find out that the easy way would be to record a macro with the sum if function, where, in the range part, I would do a Find for "End Notification"; and select all the cells to the top of the sheet. The problem is that the macro dont record that part, only the row number.I think I need to turn the range a variable, where the variable is equal to the find selection.

Dynamic Sumif Function

Jun 3, 2009

I'm trying to create a sumif formula that finds the column the information is in that it needs to sum. I have attached a copy of the file I'm trying to create a formula to get results that I want.

Generally you would normally use the "=SUMIF(range, criteria, sumrange)". I was wondering if there was a formula I can substitute "sumrange" to also search a range of data (Eg: "G16:DA28"). I need the range to be dynamic as the column to be sum can change based on the criteria/option button being selected from the product category. I assume there is an indirect function involved, but I am not familiar with it. If you have a better and less complicated formula please suggest.
