Formula- To Pull Cell Values Similar To A SUMIF Function (SUMIF(range,criteria,sum_range))

Oct 25, 2007

I am trying to pull cell values similar to a SUMIF function (SUMIF(range,criteria,sum_range)). For example, in A1 I use a data list created from data elsewhere on the spreadsheet. In the data I created elsewhere, there are 2 columns being used. The 1st column is the information that is being used to create the list and the second column contains specific values (number or text). In the dropdown menu I select an available value (text or number) . When I have selected that value I would like cell A2 to show what the cell directly to the right of it shows from the data I have elsewhere in the spreadsheet as mentioned. I have tried the SUMIF function however it seems to exclude certain values (number or text) and I am not sure what else to use.

SUMIF Formula With Sum_Range Based On Column Index Number

Jun 22, 2009

Following is a summarized example of my data and what I am trying to accomplish.

[Column A] contains a list of account numbers. [Column B] contains current balances, [column C] contains balances from one month ago, [column D] contains balances from two months ago. Within the same spreadsheet I want the ability to type in the account number in one cell and then the column number in another cell. For example, If I type in the account number 1234 and the column number 3, I would get the balance from [column c]...if I typed in the column number 4, I would get the balance from [column D].

My first thought was to use a simple SUMIF formula that would compare the account number I type with the account numbers found in [column A]. The problem is getting a formula that can translate the number 3 to [column C] or the number 4 to [column D]. Note: the actual spreadsheet I am using extends out to column BI.

This is simuilar to the Column Index Number used in a VLOOKUP formula.

Can Sumif Accepts More Than 2 Sum_range

Jul 12, 2008

This is my excel sheet

Cell A CellB Cell C
Name Hour Work Hour Rest
Alan 3 1
Alan 5 0.5
Steven 2 0
Alan 3 1.5
Ricky 5 0.5
Steven 3 0

If I use sumif using VBA, I would have to
Evaluate("sumif(Sheet1!A:A,""" & "Alan" & """, Sheet1!B:B)")
Evaluate("sumif(Sheet1!A:A,""" & "Alan" & """, Sheet1!C:C)")

SUMIF Function But The Sun Range Is On The Left Side Of The Criteria?

Aug 19, 2014

I am trying to SUM the total task done per date. The problem is, (for the sake of this problem) the DATE is in Column B and the Task Total is in Column A. I know that SUMIF is not possible because the SUM RANGE should be always on the right side of the CRITERIA.

My question is, is there other formula other than SUM IF to figure this out? or I have no choice but to Interchange the data in a matter that SUMIF function will run.

Setting Up The Range In The Criteria Section Of Sumif Formula?

Feb 17, 2014

A B

17-Feb 5.00

19-Feb 12.00

22-Feb 7.00

26-Feb 10.00

I would like to see the sum of B given it is in the range from 17-Feb to 23-Feb. My estimations so far:

=sumif(A:A,????, B:B)

How do I set up a criteria which would take values from 17-Feb to 23-Feb?

I also tried =sum(sumif(A:A,{17-Feb;?;?;23-feb}, B:B) but it wouldn't let me.

Particularly the problem is in entering the date in the array.

SUMIF Function: Sum A Range Of Cells Greater Than Whatever Is In Cell D8

Jul 18, 2006

I am trying to use the SUMIF function in excel where I want to sum a range of cells greater than whatever is in cell D8. Here is what I tried to use, but it doesn't work. SUMIF(A2:A10,>D8,B2:B10)

The content in D8 can change because the user makes a choice from the drop-down list and a number pops up in D8 that is referenced to their choice.

Sumif With Condition Similar?

Oct 22, 2013

When you filter a spreadsheet, you can find results that are similar to a condition. I have families of products that share a common 3 digits, but the rest of the model number is different. The 3 similar digits could be the first 3 digits, or it could be 3 digits starting with the 2nd digit. This spreadsheet has each complete model number on its own row. In that row is a number that represents a volume. I want to be able to sum the volume column if the model number contains the 3 digits.Model Number
Volume

A hat
5

B hat
1

A glove
4

hat
8

In the above example, the total for "hat" = 5 + 1 + 8 = 14

I would type in a condition (family name) into another cell (D1) and the formula in D2.

SUMIF - Using Multiple Criteria (10 To 20 Values)

Jun 12, 2003

Sumif formula. I need to somehow put a loop on the criteria or something...

The formula is sumif(range, criteria, sum range). The problem I am having is that I have about 20 criteria to select, and sumif is designed for one criteria. I know that I can type the exact same formaula in and have something like this...

=SUMIF(D25:D107,Variables!A6,F25:F108) + SUMIF(D25:D107,Variables!A7,F25:F108) + SUMIF(D25:D107,Variables!A8,F25:F108) + SUMIF(D25:D107,Variables!A9,F25:F108)+ SUMIF(D26:D107,Variables!A10,F26:F108)+ SUMIF(D26:D107,Variables!A11,F26:F108)

This is OK for a few variables but some formulas have multiple criteria in excess of 15-20. the other thing is that the criteria list will grow over time as more variable are added, and instead of changing the formulas throughout the spreadsheet, I would like to have a big range that I can slowly fill up as I go along

The ideal situation would be if I could put a range in ( ie A6:A30) and then when I get a new criteria I just add it to this range. This will make administration eaaseier by giving me one location to update data.

I will show you an example.. I want to calculate the amount of petrol I use based on three criteria - BP, Shell, Caltex ( the criteria being petrol stations that come up on my bill).

Column
A/ B / C/ D
Row / description / Amount/Variables
1 / Shell Petrol / \$10/Shell
2 / Cat Food/\$13/BP
3 / BP Store/\$24 / Caltex
4 / Dog Food/\$23
5/Shell Petrol / \$98
6/Caltex Petrol/\$31
7/BP stuff/\$30
8/Shell Store/\$70

What I have been doing is this...

=sumif(B1:B8,D1,c1:c8) + sumif(B1:B8,D2,c1:c8) + sumif(B1:B8,D3,c1:c8)

If I could somehow get the formula to choose the whole column D as the criteria range and get the 'sum if' to somehow loop so it goes down the d column and does the same calculation, but just changes the criteria variable each time, then instead of changing the formula, I could just add to the D column each time I had a new criteria I wanted to check.

I looked into DSUM and Pivot Tables. DSUM seems to work well with numbers, not variables and Pivot tables did my head in, especially seeing I know that there is a way to do this in a formula based way..

SumIf The Sum Of Unique Values Is Greater Than Criteria

Jul 2, 2008

I have a problem which is beyond my capabilities. I need excel to sum amount column (See example table below) by unique values in company column then conditionally sum those values based on the year of investment, stage of company and finally, the kicker, the summed Amount by unique companies value has to be less than a certain threshold.

For example, I want companies in Stage Column of Exit only and in year 2004 only BUT only if the sum of the Amounts by unique company values is less than 100. So in the example table this would return 0. I have code and criteria written to sum unique values based on similar criteria such as sum if company Stage is Seed and Year is 2004 but for the life of me I can't seem to make the jump further.

For Unique values I used this function:
=SUMPRODUCT((\$B\$2:\$B2=Year04)*(\$D\$2:\$D2=StageS)*(\$A\$2:\$A2=\$A2))=1
Then:
=DCOUNTA(\$A\$1:\$D9999,2, Criteria)
or
=DSUM(\$A\$1:\$D9999,2, Criteria)

This along with criteria explained before returns the number of unique companies that are Stage=Seed and Year=2004 or sum of amounts with that criteria.

I am trying to adapt this technique to get what I want but to this point have been unsuccessful. My best guess is that I will need to create an array of the unique companies (New Sheet column A) with the Summed Amounts (New sheet column B) and then run functions again with the easier equations and criteria? I am trying to avoid combining company records as each investment needs to remain individual and there are 16000 records. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Company Year Amount Stage XYZ 2004 10 Seed XYZ 2004 20 Seed ABC 2004 5 Early ABC 2004 25 Early DEV 2004 14 Later DEV 2004 19 Later TRU 2004 100 Exit TRU 2004 120 Exit TRU 2004 100 Exit

SUMIF But Where Criteria Is Date Range?

Apr 28, 2014

I am trying to get a SUMIF formula to work where the following: - RANGE = Column N:N (These are all a list of dates) CRITERIA = Cell C20:D20 (These are the dates i want to look at) SUM_RANGE = Column P:P

Basically, I want to SUM all the numbers on Column P where the date in Column N falls between and including the dates in Cell C20 and D20

In attachement, I want to show in the YELLOW cells the SUM of Column P where the Date in Column N is between the Dates in column C and D.

SUMIF Criteria Across Dynamic Range?

How To Use Date Range In SUMIF Function

Dec 22, 2013

I am trying to use a date range as a criteria in a SUMIF function. Below are the data and formula I am using.

Forecast

4
15
8
Week
1/12/2014
1/19/2014
1/26/2014
2/2/2014

Formula =SUMIF(G2:J2,">L1",G1:J1)

G1:J2 - raw data shown above. L1 = 2/2/2014. Desired result = 8. Result obtained with formula above = 0 how to make this work?

Sumif Formula Multiple Criteria

Can anyone tell me what is wrong with the formula on page 1 cell F56? it is not adding the 666 gallons at the end of column F for 426 - cc. Any ideas?

Sumif Formula The Meets Five Different Criteria

Feb 15, 2010

I want to create a sumif formula that will sum the data if it meets five different criteria. I tied to do an Or statement in the formula, but it doesnt work. For example, I want to sum all the rows that contain: Apples, Bananas, Cherries, Pears, and Plums. How do I write the sumif formula so that it will do this?

SUMIF With Year As Criteria And Date As Range?

Apr 2, 2014

I am trying to do a sumif off all dates that fall into a specific year. I know I can do it by either adding a column in either of the sources to get the translated data but I was wondering if I can get this to work by it recognizing the format within the formula only.

Sumif Several Sheets And Using A Variable Criteria Range

Oct 23, 2008

Currently Im using several formulas to acquire my result; I know it can be abbreviated to a more compact formula.

I have four Sheets. One summary sheet and SheetA, SheetB and SheetC containing Data.
All sheets are documented in an equal format, e.g.: in column A: Date, column B: Code (A, B, C or D) and Column C: values.

Criteria are located in the summary sheet e.g.: A2: 1-1-2008 A3: 2-1-2008 and B2: A, B3:B
The data sheets are listed in H1:H3.

The results should cover a sum of col C over the sheets by using the critiria listed in summary sheet.

The criteria range is variable; sometimes I only want to use one criteria and sometimes more.

SUMIF OR SUMIFS Functions With Criteria As Formula?

Apr 28, 2014

SUMIF and SUMIFS formula, where in I want to set criteria in the formula as greater than or less than or equal to value derived from another formula. I am inserting the following formula but excel is not allowing me to enter the formula.

=SUMIFS(\$C\$22:\$C\$30,\$E\$22:\$E\$30,>=LEFT(L21,3),\$E\$22:\$E\$30,<=RIGHT(L21,3),\$A\$22:\$A\$30,G22)

Defining Variable Range In Sumif Function With VBA Within Table

Jul 28, 2014

I sum number of articles that are coming in on one sheet and articles going out on another. The total of In - Out is a separate value. All three values are placed on a third sheet.

The following code I use does the job, but I have to use a set range in the SumIf function. I want to be able to use a variable for the lastrow of a table colum.

VB:
Private Sub ArttotKnop_Click()

Dim Klanttel As Integer
Dim Rij, vLastRow, iLastRow As Long
Dim varResult, varMin, varTotal As Variant

iLastRow = Sheets("Ingebracht").ListObjects("Ingebracht").ListRows.Count
[Code] ....

Since my table grows larger every day I want to use variables.

Where I wrote A2:A500, B2:B500, B2:B550 and D2:D550 I want to be able to replace A500 and B500 with A and B + the variable iLastRow. The same for B550 and D550 with the vLastRow variable

Tried using:
.Range("A2:A" & iLastRow)
.Range("A2", Cells(iLastRow, 1))
.Range(Cells(2, 1), Cells(iLastRow, 1))

They don't work.

Code That Inserts A SUMIF Function To A Given Range Of Cells

I'm trying to write some code that inserts a SUMIF function to a given range of cells:

In simplified form, the code runs as follows: ...

Sumif Values Between A Range

Nov 24, 2006

I have an example, see attached. I am trying to find the sum of a number of columns where the critera is between a number of days ie values is greater than 365 but less than 1788 days. The values to sum is the amount for each row where this criteria is met.

Make SUMIF Formula Calculate With SUBTOTAL Function

Feb 21, 2014

I'm trying to exclude cells that are filtered in a separate sheet.

The sheet I'm working with gathers information from this separate sheet using the following SUMIF formula:

=SUMIFS(Claims!\$H:\$H,Claims!\$G:\$G,\$A9,Claims!\$B:\$B,C\$6,Claims!\$E:\$E,\$B9)

This formula extrapolates information perfectly for me if I do not filter columns in the separate sheet with all of the information.

I know that SUBTOTAL functions can be used in a way to exclude hidden cells. Can I combine the SUBTOTAL function into my SUMIF function above to produce results that exclude filtered cells?

Excel 2010 :: SUMIF With Multiple Criteria - How To Add INDIRECT To Formula

Aug 11, 2013

Excel - 2010

I have the following formula:

=SUMIFS(FEB!TRANS_Cost,FEB!TRANS_Cat1,CAT_Main3,FEB!TRANS_Cat2,"Computer Items",FEB!TRANS_Status,"Paid")

TRANS_Cost = B:B on FEB tab
TRANS_Cat1 = C:C on FEB tab
TRANS_Cat2 = D:D on FEB tab
CAT_Main3 = "Everyday_Expenses"
TRANS_Status = E:E

In short the formula adds the total cost of anything 'tagged' as Everyday_expenses, computer items, paid. I want to adapt it so that it takes the value from a defined cell such as Month, so that data can be pulled by month.

Excel 2007 :: Determining / Counting Number Of Values Used In SUMIF / SUMPRODUCT Function

Aug 2, 2014

I am using Office/Excel 2007 and Windows 8

I want to determine the number of values SUMIF/SUMPRODUCT functions used/checked to arrive at the answer, i.e. 95 for row 2 and 116 for row 3. A function that can give a 3 and 2 respectively.

Example:

Results for Row #2 gives: 95 with 3 values picked up under "Rate"

Results for Row #3 gives: 116 with 2 values though three places were checked up under "Rate"

How can I count the number of these values referencing at the "Rate" like in the functions used.

I managed to use SUMIF/SUMPRODUCT functions to calculate totals based on "Rate" in row one.

I tried COUNTIF function, but allows only field/heading.

A
B
C
D
E
F
G

[Code] ..........

results for each formula used

95 formula: =SUMIF(B\$1:G\$1,B\$1,B2:G2)

95 formula: =SUMPRODUCT((B\$1:G\$1=B\$1)*(B2:G2))

3 formula: =COUNTIF(B1:G2,B1)

SUMIF Formula For Values In Different Rows

Feb 15, 2008

I thought that SUMIF FUNCTION should work for what I am trying to achive but it does not look like.
Here is the example: 1,2,3 etc. are rows and A, B,C - columns
A B
1 Gain (Loss) on Balance sheet reval, 91105(2,035,611)
2 Expense
3
4 NET Gain (Loss) on LTD 945,600
5 including Hedge on \$ million Revenue

I need to write the formula in cell e.g. A8 that would look at my either "Expense" or "Revenue" and sum it if it is revenue or sumit if it is expense. I have the whole spreadsheet of rows and the label "revenue" or "expense" repeats almost always after 2 rows.

Sumif Counting Values In Date Range

SUMIF And SUMIF Not - Using Two Formulas In One Cell

Feb 27, 2012

I am wanting to use these two formulas in one cell. Is there anyway to do this? If "AD3" is 0 I want this =SUM(X3:AC3) and then if cell "AD3" is greater than 0 I want to basically use this formula

Is there anyway to merge these two formula's?

Sumif Function Condition Cell Value

Nov 24, 2009

I have a worksheet where two columns of data are written. In another worksheet I have a list of data in one column. In column next to it (so the rows are the same) I am trying to write a list of sumif formula, where the range is first column of the first worksheet, condition is a value of the cell next to where I am writing the sumif equation (list of data) and the sumrange is the second colummn in the first worksheet. I can't get it. I tried with --- "C" & i --- but I get an error saying expected:end of statement. It goes like that:
