Allow User To Edit Worksheet At Certain Point During Macro
Aug 17, 2011
I have a macro that I would like to let a user edit the worksheet and make changes at a certain point. I have tried creating a modeless userform, but the userform only pops up and the code continues running without waiting for input (or running any of the code in the userform). Any way I can accomplish this or what I would be doing wrong with the userform?

I need to query a column and find the cells that have been incorrectly coded. For example the coding standard is #<reference number>/. Sometimes people forget the "/". It is not as easy as using search and replace because the string may have more contents than the above.
For example it may show: ATM/45678/#789876 dt. 1-2-14/ or it something like CHQ/44384/#78987600.
There are many permutations. So I need to find the cells that don't have a "/" following the #<reference number>, then allow a user to enter the slash. At this stage, I don't need code to find cells containing errors, I think I can figure that out. I do need to know how to allow the user to edit the cell as part of the macro. Once the user corrects the error, the macro should then continue. Is this possible?

When a user clicks a cell in Column A, VBA will enter the date in the cell (in the form MMDDYY) and will position the insertion pointer at the end of the date. The user can then enter a four digit number following the MMDDYY. In this worksheet, Column A holds a transaction number, which is always in the form MMDDYYXXXX. I am trying to save the user the trouble of entering the MMDDYY, since it will always be today's date.

I have an event handler that runs a procedure when a user double clicks a cell. This procedure modifies the contents of this cell and other cells. I want the user to be able to select the cell so they can double click it, but I don't want them to be able to single click it and modify it by hand (accidentally or not). Is there a way to lock/unlock the contents of the cell without locking the cell itself?

I have a workbook that has a list of different depts. I need to design a way to enter a login of sorts to the excel and allow the user of that department to edit their entries only and lock the rest of the entries for the rest of the departments and do not show them in the result list after the user logs in. Once all department manager fills in his/her entries, the administrator is notified via email.

I'm working on protecting a spreadsheet to where only certain people would be allowed to unprotect and edit it... I've used a standard password protection and created a userform prompting for password and unlocking the sheet, and this works fine.
On the other hand, I was interested if it's possible to write the code to where once the "unprotect" button is clicked it would seek User Account name from windows and try to match it with a list of users somewhere within the workbook. This way the user wouldn't be prompted for a password, but rather the unlocking would simply work or not depending on user account.

I have created a simple userform that is linked to a button on sheet1. When the data in the userform is submitted, I set it up so it goes into a database under sheet2. The problem is, I don't want anyone modifying the entries in the database. Usually I would protect the sheet with a password, but when I do that, there is an error when the userform is submitted. The only thing I can think of is to hide sheet2, which doesn't seem like a great solution.
Is there any way to protect my database from being modified yet still allow the userform to be linked to it?

I have a worksheet named "ABC". In row 4 of this worksheet, each cell from G to BG is numbered from 1 onwards and each cell has a unique number. I would like to have a macro ask the user through a pop-up question box which column data should be calculated in. For example, if the user types "1" in the question box, the macro will go to column G which has "1" in cell G4 and will select G5 the cell just below the column the user defined and calculate the formula.

Depending on the attached workbook,
How can I edit the employee's Name and badge number thru a userform?
What should we depend on to save the employee's name before changing it, in order to use it as a find key?

Ive searched for a solution around this site and it all leads to a dead end. I have a userform created in Excel, where I want to import a existing worksheet from another workbook and display it on the user form, so the user can edit it. I have tried using the Office SPreadsheet 10.0. By copy the excel file contents and pasting it into the spreadsheet cells, but PasteSpecial doesnt work so all the formating is out the door.

I was wondering if it is possible to update links from one worksheet to another that contains a running tally - even when another worksheet is added and needs to be linked to the running tally as well?
I have attached a sample workbook. What I have is a summary sheet ( Sum Hrs CMS) that has SUMIF calculations for a series of rows in the Estimate Sheet.
The problem that I have run into is - when you press the Add New Sheet button on the Estimate sheet, it copies hidden sheet and inserts it at the end of the workbook, however I then need the hours in the CMS portion to link to the summary sheet. What I was wondering is how do the links on the 'Sum Hrs CMS' sheet include this new sheet and the data that is entered on it?

I have a pivot table as shown below which is pretty straight forward however I am trying to create a macro that will automatically change the point name to match the point name in column E then copy that resulting dispaly to another sheet then pick the next point name in line and do the same thing and repeat for 50 rows, so my end result will be 50 pivot tables ready for printing. I can do this manually but I am trying to make it automatic...BTW the point names in column E change everyday but the pivot table supports the name changes.
Option Explicit
Sub PointName()
Dim Ws As Worksheet
Dim Rng As Range, Cel As Range
Set Ws = ActiveSheet
Set Rng = Range(Cells(2, 7), Cells(Rows.Count, 7).End(xlUp))
For Each Cel In Rng
Ws.PivotTables("PivotTable1").PivotFields("Point Name").CurrentPage = Cel & " "
Ws.Columns("A:B").Copy
Sheets.Add
With ActiveSheet
.Paste
.Name = Trim(Cel)
.Range("A1").Select
End With
Next
Ws.Activate
End Sub
I turned it off for a while and when I turned it back on I am getting an error
Unable to set the _Default property of the PivotItem class
Debugger is highlighting
Ws.PivotTables("PivotTable1").PivotFields("Point Name").CurrentPage = Cel & " "

I have this password protected Excel template (v.2002), it includes one particular drop-down box, which is not a data validation choice selection, but a 'object' drop-down box which offers choices linked to a hidden value, via the INDEX function. The issue arises when I password protect the template and attempt to select from the available choices, I get a dialog box telling me the "the cell or chart...is password protected and...read-only"..."To modify...remove protection". I imagined checking the "Edit Objects" selection, upon protecting the worksheet would have avoided any problems, but that doesn't do the job.

his is of Jaafarian proportions. This is in relation to an earlier post on dragging and dropping. That is all worked out thanks to help from board members. For the sake of your own curiosity, this project will tile worksheet windows (actually specific ranges from other worksheets and other workbooks), borderless, within a single userform and allow dragging and dropping between ranges that reside in different workbooks. That is all worked out as well. The only roadblock I am running into right now is that I cannot edit directly in the cell when the worksheet is displayed in the userform. Probably has something to do with placing a worksheet in a userform to begin with.
CTRL-R to show the form or run maco, "ShowForm". If you double click a cell and attempt to go into edit mode, it will appear to be locked up. It's not, just hit enter to escape the cell. The problem is the userform is a child window of the application. Hence, focus can pass to the parent window or another child (the formula bar in particular) which is exactly the behaviour expected. How do I get around this?

I have a spreadsheet that summarizes variations on a project. On the "Variations" tab a userform pops up that asks the user to select from 3 options:
1. Create new variation
This launches another userform that allows the user to enter the necessary information and create a variation sheet. This userform updates "VarSummary" and also creates a new sheet for each variation created. I have been able to do all of this so far. The summary sheet "Variations" tab uses the data on the "VarSummary" tab. This is the code I used to add variation
Private Sub cmdadd_Click()
Dim iRow As Long
Dim ws As Worksheet
Set ws = Worksheets("VarSummary")
With ws
iRow = . Cells(.Rows.Count, 2).End(xlUp).Offset(1, 0).Row
'Copy the data to the database
.Cells(iRow, 1).Value = Me.txtVarRecNo.Value
.Cells(iRow, 2).Value = Me.txtDate.Value
.Cells(iRow, 3).Value = Me.txtChg.Value
.Cells(iRow, 4).Value = Me.txtSrcRef.Value
.Cells(iRow, 5).Value = Me.cbstatus.Value
.Cells(iRow, 6).Value = Me.DirQty.Value
.Cells(iRow, 7).Value = Me.DirVal.Value............................

I am trying to edit some formulas Under the Mon-D15 worksheet in this file. The # NUM is where I am having trouble. Basically, what I want to do is only rank the names in C15:C18. I was successful in doing this with C10:C14. But, for some reason it will not work with the lower values.
Question #2
Is there a way to make Columns I:O stay static through Rows 1:24 (width=3)?
I want Rows 25:40 to be different widths (width=2) in Columns I:O.

But sometimes even if I have fewer records in this worksheet(lets say 1000) worksheet shows the same 30,000 rows.And its annoying when you try to navigate using vertical scroll bar. Is there any option to re-adjust the worksheet to make it more user friendly based on number of rows in current sheet.

I need my macro to stop running 5 rows before an empty row. I have numerical data in cell BE, and a running summation of the numerical data in cell BI.
The last 4 rows of the group of data are subtotal/total rows, followed by an empty row separating this group of data from the next.
I would like the summation to start at the row of my active cell and continue to populate column BI with the running summation of column BE, but stop 5 rows before an empty row at the bottom of the group of data.

I have a macro that allows me to type numbers in cells and it auto adds to the previous value... what would be nice is if when i hit enter the cell focus stays at the current cell and doesnt move the next cell down... that way if i wanted to enter multiple values into one cell i wouldnt have to touch the arrow keys to get back to the cell
e.g: i enter a value into A1 and hit enter, instead of the box focus moving to A2, it stays at A1
Heres my current
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
If Intersect(Target, Range("DATA")) Is Nothing Then Exit Sub
If Target.Cells.Count > 1 Then Exit Sub
If Not IsNumeric(Target.Value) Then Exit Sub
Application.EnableEvents = False
Target.Value = Target.Value + oldVal
Application.EnableEvents = True
End Sub

Sub Delete_0_Rows()
'Assumes the list has a heading.
Dim i As Integer
For i = Cells(65536, 1).End(xlUp).Row To 5 Step -1
If Cells(i, 1) = "0" Then
Range(Cells(i, 1), Cells(i, 1).Offset(-2, 0)).EntireRow.Delete
End If
Next
End Sub
I have data in the first 50 rows.
Then in row 51 it column A it starts 0's.
I run the macro, it deletes all the rows with 0's, and it deletes row 50 also some reason. I do not understand the above macro very good to edit it, and the fact it contains 5 1's doesnt help me lol

I have an array formula i use to sum data by specific criteria:
=SUM(IF(Input_Sheet!$A$2:$A$1000>
=DATEVALUE("01/04/2011"),IF(Input_Sheet!$A$2:$A$1000
=DATEVALUE("??/??/????")
So that it searches for any date and replaces with the new ones, but obviously the use of quotation marks with the wildcards makes this difficult in VBA.
How to link the cell values in with the "Replace with".
Code:
Sub findrep()
Dim target, cell As Range
Dim i As String
Dim k As String
i = "Input_Sheet!$A$2:$A$1000>=DATEVALUE("??/??/????")"
