Allow Users To Insert / Delete Rows On A Protected Worksheet?
Apr 5, 2014
I have a worksheet that I have some "locked" cells on. I also have protected the worksheet but when I check to allow users to insert rows and to delete rows and then save it, when I re-open it I can't insert rows or delete rows???
I am using some VBA to allow for the collapseing of rows while maintaining protection and that works perfectly. I want users to be able to insert and delete rows while maintaining protection. I thought a simple check in the protection was good enough, but for some reason it isn't.
I have created a table where the first 6 columns are data entry and the next 6 columns are formulas to give desired results.
I have made all the data entry cells unlocked and the rest of the spreadsheet locked (cells with formulas etc.)
I would like to be able to insert rows to the protect sheet which I have managed to achieve but when I insert the row the formulas do not update in the row.
I have a protected worksheet, which I have 2 macros, 1 to spell check and 1 to insert rows, they both unprotect the sheet and re protect it again once they have completed. The problem I am having is that when I protect the work sheet first time round I tick the box to allow users to insert rows, once the Macros run they disable this functionality. Is there anyway I can include this in my Macros or do I need to add a new button!
Is it possible to delete multiple rows when the worksheet is protected using vba? For Example Peps - Select a undetermined amount of rows and then use a macro to unprotect - delete the selected rows - protect.
I need to allow my users to insert rows, however I have Data valadation lists that would be affected by the insert.
Is there a way that I can lock the spreadsheet so that they have to highlight the cells and then insert the row but NOT allow them to highlight the entire row then insert?
I need a VBA code for a worksheet to automatically insert cut paste a row from a range of unprotected rows to the range of protected rows once the user decides to do so.
I have a sheet called "Customer Stock" which has two tables called "Uncollected" and "Collected".
I need "Uncollected" table to be unprotected and "Collected" Table to be protected.
Once the a Customer collects the goods, the user can cut and insert the collected row from the unprotected "uncollected" table to just above the first row of the protected "collected" table,
so that the inserted cut row now should be protected.
The password should be 1234 and the user won't know the password. Only the administrator will be having it.
I have a sheet with macros that allows users to fill in data from columns F10 to O10 from row 10 to 54.
Column P will then make some computations based on the inputs from col F to O. Row 55 will also make some computation based on inputs from row 10 to 54.
How to I modify the code below to allow users to either add/delete columns and rows such that it does not fowl up the computations?
The computation does not have to be at column P or at row 55, they can be dynamic and change depending on how many rows and columns the users delete/add.
A little background on what the code does. From Column F to O, the code UNLOCKS the columns only if user inputs date in Cell 3 of that particular column.
Example. Column F is locked from F10 to infinity at the start. Only when user inputs date into F3 does the cells F10:F54 is unlocked for user to input data.
This goes on until column O. I want users to be able to add more columns, or delete ones they don't need.
I was able to create a macro that allows a user to unhide rows in a protected worksheet without unprotecting the other locked fields (see below). My question is: I want to add to this command so that 1 row can not be "unhidden" if the previous row is still hidden. For example, row 25 can not be unhidden if row 24 is still hidden.
Macro command used:
Private Sub Commandbutton4_Click() Sub Hide_Rows2h() ActiveSheet.Unprotect Password:="xxx" Rows("25").Hidden = Not Rows("25").Hidden ActiveSheet.Protect Password:="xxx"
One of our password-protected shared workbooks is acting oddly, but only for one user. The protection is supposed to allow users to expand and collapse grouped columns using the "+" and "-" symbols on the sheet, and for most users it is; but one user is getting an error message that she can't perform that operation on a protected sheet. I've had her close and reopen the file and we have confirmed that she has the same version of Excel as the users who aren't having the issue (Excel 2007). This is a shared file on a server, not a local copy on her computer.
I got a worksheet here. I'd like to lock all the cell height and width using protected sheets function. I realized from time to time I have the need to hide them. How do I enable hiding sheets while maintaining cell integrity?
I've created a shared spreadsheet with multiple sheets. All the content was created to be visible without having to scroll at 87%. My question is can I protect or lock the zoom level so that when anyone else opens the spreadsheet, it will only be visible at 87%? I have my screen resolution at "Smallest" so not sure if that too will affect the viewing level.
Count all the true statements in column A (Work) of sheet1 (Checklist), once counted insert that many rows on sheet2 in a specific location, I found a count formula just don't know how to do the insert rows part
Code: Sub CountRows() Dim Rng As Range, CountTrue As Long Set Rng = Sheets("Checklist").Range("Work") CountTrue = Application.WorksheetFunction.CountIf(Rng, "True") End Sub
I'd like to create a variable list. If a number is entered into B7 (see attachement), I would like that number of rows being inserted below. Starting at A8. But I would like the list to be variable. So if a lower number is entered, the rows would be deleted. And I would be great if the formulas could be maintained.
I've a protected sheet with one table with 6 columns and 1 row (to be filled), and the column headers.
I want to allow the user that will fill the sheet to insert more rows with a button (+) I want also to allow him to delete the last row with a button (-), except the first row, because the table must have at least one row.
delete rows of a report which contains $- or zero value but not row with Beginning Balance. Data begins from Column B to Column E. Some records may need to be deleted completely from Account Number down to Subtotal rows plus one empty row, if the Subtotal amount is $- or zero. Below is the sample data and how the finished sheet should look like. The report will comes in thousand of line. I don't have knowledge in programing but believe it can be done through VBA.
Account Number
211-00-5936-00-001-3-00-2-00 Trans. Date Doc. No. Trans. Line Comment Actual Amount
[code]....
if Subtotal is $0, then delete the row starting from Account Number to Subtotal plus one empty row
211-00-5936-00-002-3-00-2-00 Trans. Date Doc. No. Trans. Line Comment Actual Amount
Does anyone have codes to insert and delete multiple rows. I need to run a macro where a dialog box pops up requesting number of rows to insert and delete.
I have a worksheet that has been created to essentially request information needed to determine a demo system configuration. Within this worksheet there are a series of checkboxes that if checked, will need to have the form extended (i.e. add additional questions to clarify say a model or manufacturer). For example, if the Yes checkbox is checked next to a question I want a macro to copy some rows from a hidden worksheet within the same workbook to the bottom of the non-hidden worksheet. If the No checkbox is clicked, nothing should happen. Furthermore, if a user accidently click Yes but didn't mean to I want the added rows to be removed. This is further complicated by the fact that there are 2 or 3 questions that have check boxes that can add additional questions.
I have a large data file. In column A is 8760 entries (every hour of every day of the year). Columns D & E are linked, Column D is the time and date whilst Column E is a parameter assocaied with that time and date.
There should also be 8760 entries in these columns, however there are some missing data lines in columns D & E. I would therefore like to move the rows in columns D & E so they match with the entries in column A. Can anyone help? I have a headache as i have over 70 files to complete this operation on.
I need to do something to my workbook, and I need to do this task:
When I insert/delete a column between E & F in sheet 1, the formula (not the value) in the column E was applied too to the new column I've inserted/deleted..
Then, when that happened to the sheet 1, It would happen too to the other sheet automatically..
So I don't need to insert/delete the row and copy the formula manually for each worksheet..
I know that I could simply solve it with grouping the sheet tab..
But I have plenty of data that needed to be inserted and applied with the formula..
I will attach the little example : insert.xlsx
And one more thing, I received this VB code from [URL] ..... for inserting the column:
VB: Private Sub Workbook_SheetBeforeRightClick(ByVal Sh As Object, ByVal Target As Range, Cancel As Boolean) Dim lngRow As Long Dim ws As Worksheet If Target.Row = 1 Then Cancel = True
[Code] .....
And this code for deleting the column:
VB: Private Sub Workbook_SheetBeforeDoubleClick(ByVal Sh As Object, ByVal Target As Range, Cancel As Boolean) Dim lngRow As Long Dim ws As Worksheet If Target.Row = 1 Then Cancel = True
I am working with a spreadsheet generated from software that keeps track of fuel usage for a large fleet of vehicles. The data comes out looking like the snapshot below.

I am trying to get the data into a more convenient format for analysis. I need a macro that will:
1) Take the text "Product summary for vehicle ID 0000****", extract the last 4 digits of the text, and paste it where the 1 is under the Product heading (a10). Those digits are the actual fleet number, and I need to separate them out from the rest of the text. The digits will change for each vehicle, so the macro should just move down the spreadsheet doing the same thing for each instance (the setup you see is repeated for every vehicle).
2) Once the first goal is accomplished, I would like the macro to then go back through and delete every row except for the rows with the pertinent data in them. So this means I would only want one row per vehicle and all rows would line up directly below each other like demonstrated below.

I have a spreadsheet that I use throughout the day and have to send an email to another person when a customer makes a payment. The number of products they pay for will be different each time and I have the code to copy the right cells into an email and the code to insert the right number of rows for how many things the customer is paying for however as I use it multiple times through the day, I need the code to insert the right number of rows, copy it over to the email then automatically delete the rows it has just inserted so it is back to basics so I can use it again.
The code I have for the inserting the rows (from searching through forums) is:
Sub PRows() Dim NextRow As Long Dim NrOfCopies As Long Dim i As Long Const NrOfCopiesDefault = 1 Const NrOfCopiesMaximum = 9
My workbook contains 10 worksheets. Some users will use all 10 worksheets; some will use only 5 worksheets. If a user is not using a worksheet, I would like to hide it but leave it in the workbook.
However, I want to keep all workbooks in sync even though a user may choose to not use a particular worksheet. When my macros encounter a hidden worksheet, they stall. Does coding exist that allows a Macro to run on a hidden worksheet without making the worksheet visible?
Need to look at a number in a cell, inserts that many rows below that row, then repeats this for following rows that also have cells that indicate how many rows to insert.
Attached is a simple sample data sheet with how data looks before and how it should look after.
I have a workbook where I import data from another workbook. This might get done several times a month. As I go through the imported data I delete rows not needed which gets place into another worksheet. What I need is when I import data again is a macro that the worksheet where my already deleted rows are and compairs them to the new data imported and if the first 13 columns of data matches it delest them off the imported sheet.
I found some code which I altered at [url]
and posted the same question but haven't got any response as of yet.
So the code that i go works but only if the row matches in the exact order on both sheets so e.g. (if row 1 on sheet1 matches row 1 on sheet2) it works but if (row1 on sheet1 matches row 3 on sheet2) it does not.
Here's the code I have so far.
Public Sub delOLD() Dim i As Long Dim iLastRow As Long Dim ws As Worksheet, ws1 As Worksheet
Set ws = Sheets("Data") ' Imported Data Set ws1 = Sheets("Old Records") ' Deleted Data
I am working on an excel table in my worksheet contains formulas and locked cells. lets say table range is from column "a" to "f" and there is formula on cell in columns "c" and "f". I just locked cells in column "c" and "f" to prevent people changing the formula accidentally. but when the sheet is protected i am not able to insert or delete rows as the rows has locked cells in columns "c" and "f".
I tried the below macro to unlock the sheet, insert row and lock the sheet again:
[Code] .....
So by running the macro it asks the password and do the job but the issue is it needs password and i do not want people to know my password. I don't want them able to unlock the workbook and make any undesired changes. I want them to be allowed insert or delete rows and input data in unlocked cell. I want the sheet to be locked all the time and only when people want to insert or delete a row it be unlocked and be locked again after inserting or deleting whit no need to insert password in this case only.
I have anywhere from 3000 to 10000 rows to delete in a a number of worksheets, but would like to avoid using a loop as even with onscreen update turned to off like this:
