I have two tables below. First table contains the list of domain names (given just for example, actual list may contain several more such Domain names) with the group names assigned to them. Second table shows the criteria for assigning them the group names:
My concern is to automate this process using a VBA code. How can I search for the keyword given in Table 2 in the first column of Table 1 and assign the group names as it is assigned currently, considering the below conditions and criteria.
1) The correct group name should be assigned to the Domain name containing the keyword given as per criteria in Table 2
2) It is possible that the domain name will include more than one keywords given in Table 2. For example Cell number A7 contains both keywords NCG and EXC, in such cases the preferance should be given to EXC and we will assign the group name as EEC. And in Cell number A12 also contains both NCG and DMZ, again the preferance should be given to DMZ and we have to assign group name as ETIS.
That means we will give second preference to keyword NCG. If domain name contains none of the keywords except NCG as per given criteria then only we will assign grup name DOSS.
Conditional formatting. I want to change the color of a group of cells based on data in another group of cells. Example:
If cells G8 and G9 (which are merged) are between 80% and 94%, then I9,I10,I11 (which are merged) will turn Yellow. Also, under the same scenario, IF G8 and G9 is greater than 94%, then cells I9, I10, I11 will turn Red.
I am trying to write VBA code that groups cells between blank rows and inserts a message if a string of text (a name) is missing from the entire group. I want the code to search cells in column A and group the cells between blank cells. Use the name I input in an input box as the search criteria and insert a message in the Column C next to the last blank cell in the group and then move on to the next group and highlight the cell in red with bold text. I am including a spreadsheet with an example of what the sheet should look like before and after the code is run.
I have a spreadsheet that consists for 30 rows of groups of three checkboxes on each row. I want to have only one checkbox per row checked at a time. If the user checks one box while another it already checked then I want that checbox to be unchecked.
I want checkboxes to work like groups of option buttons. Actually, option buttons would be fine but with option buttons there is always one clicked but I need them all clear until the user clicks one. They will start off clear but if the user clicks one by mistake there is no way that I know of to clear it again. Checkboxes will clear again if you click it again so I thought I would use them.
how to have a group of three option buttons or checkboxes that will begin unchecked and be able to uncheck all three is one is checked in error,
I would like to do is to sort only selected sheets. Can someone give me this additional code that can be incorporated in the code below. (If I just select the sheets I want sorted and run the code below, it sorts all worksheets irrespective of whether it is active or not).
Sub SortWorksheets() Dim N As Integer Dim M As Integer Dim FirstWSToSort As Integer Dim LastWSToSort As Integer Dim SortDescending As Boolean SortDescending = False If ActiveWindow.SelectedSheets.Count = 1 Then FirstWSToSort = 1 LastWSToSort = Worksheets.Count Else With ActiveWindow.SelectedSheets For N = 2 To .Count ................
I would like to group some columns to all the sheets that I will have selected. Unfortunately the below code only apply the code to the sheet I am looking at.
Code: Sub Group() Dim ws As Worksheet
For Each ws In ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets With ws.Range("F:Q").Group End With Next ws End Sub
I have a survey with different groups of Control Toolbox options buttons on it. I want to ensure that each question has an option button selected before the survey can be exited and emailed onwards. The grouped button names are: GroupA, Group1 through to Group6.
I am using this code to hide or unhide rows of text on another sheet:
VB: Sub ProcessSheet1ChangeOnCellJ7(ByVal Target As Range)
Dim sAddress As String Dim sValue As String
'Get the address of the cell that changed without '$' signs sAddress = Target.Address(False, False)
[Code]....
When the "Not Pursuing" list box option is selected (in cell "J7" or "J8" in Sheet 1) I need to add (or over-write) "Not Pursuing" to the range of cells in column "B" (in the "Tasks" sheet), but only for that particular Goal, meaning a limited range of cells in column "B". If the "Pursuing - Show All Tasks" option is selected for a Goal then these same cells need to be blank so that the appropriate person can enter their name into the cell.
The purpose for adding "Not Pursuing" automatically to these yellow highlighted cells is that it will facilitate filtering of tasks by individual in the "Tasks" sheet..
Again I have tried several times to upload a sample file and am unable to, which I know makes it more difficult to solve. (Is there some common mistake people make? I know it's an allowed format and is very small in file size....)
Code solution can be entered directly beneath:
VB: If Target.Value = "Not Pursuing" Then ActiveWorkbook.Sheets("Tasks").Rows("29:29").EntireRow.Hidden = False ActiveWorkbook.Sheets("Tasks").Rows("30:48").EntireRow.Hidden = True
Is it possible to assign a name to a range of cells, so that when you insert a formula into another cell you can call that range of cells into the formula?
I have a VBA form that I would like to assign to a cell, but it's a merged cell. When I do this, the form does not run. If I assign it to a single cell, it runs fine. Is there a trick to tell the macro that the target address is a merged cell?
I use my spreadsheet to keep score during tournaments. when i calculate my leaderboard at the end of the event i list the results first place all the way down until it finishes the list of players. i need to be able find players with the same or equal score and list them as tied for the same place.
another words if i get to the 3rd place and i had 3 players tie for third i need my leaderboard to show them all in 3rd place . currently it would number then 345. i listed below how it should format it. i also attached a file it will make it more clear.
I have been given a spreadsheet with the sales data for each of our salesmen. Each job has its state listed and what I need to do is break down the information by region. The catch is that the regions are not given - just the states. So I need to assign the states to their corresponding regions. To do this, I tried writing an "IF" statement like this:
=IF((B2="AL"),"SOUTHEAST",IF((B2="CA"),"WEST",IF((B2="NJ"),"NORTHEAST",IF((B2="TX"),"SOUTH CENTRAL", ... and so on.
So I was doing this for all 50 states. The problem is that the statement got too long. So how do I write this? There has to be a shorter/easier way.
1. Start Date (Col. C) - assign date to respective position based on first cell that contains value greater than 0 or "". eg. at first cell with 1 in it, looks up to row 4 and assigns date include in that cell in same column.
2. End Date (Col. D) - assigns date based on last cell with value greater than 0 or ""....
im tyring to make excel add one group of cells. but not like 5+5=10 but 5+5=2. confused yet i am. basicly i want it to only count the number of cells with numbers in it. im shipping boxes with differnt amounts in them. but i want to know how many boxs are shipping.
I have had some help with this (thanks!) but am stuck.
Can someone add to the code below and make it so that multiple tasks, with multiple assignees, can be created from a range of cells, such as:
Column A Column B Row 1Task SubjectAssign to Row 2GV LP for AZJohn Brown Row 3GV LP for COJohn Brown Row 4GV LP for ILSuzy Smith Row 5GV LP for INSuzy Smith Row 6GV LP for KYSuzy Smith Row 7GV LP for MNSuzy Smith Row 8GV LP for MSBob Barker Row 9GV LP for NCBob Barker Row 10GV LP for NJBob Barker Row 11GV LP for NMBob Barker Row 12GV LP for NVBob Barker Row 13GV LP for NYBob Barker Row 14GV LP for OHBob Barker Row 15GV LP for SCBob Barker Row 16GV LP for WVBob Barker
(Sorry, it didn't translate well. The "GV LP for AZ" is cell A2, "John Brown" is cell B2.)
I am a research student trying to calculate the linearity of a certain number of individuals (the subjects of my study).
In my matrix of individuals I have the row individuals dominant to column individuals given values of 1, and where individuals in the column are dominant to those in the row, a value of 0 is given. Where the relationships are "tied" a value of 0.5 is entered. I have more than 30 unknown relationships, which I have filled with "x".
What I have to do, is select these x-cells (Haha, Excels :P) and randomly insert a 1-0 or 0-1 dyad between the corresponding individuals. So if (in the data file) Garth and Nala are to have a 1-0 or 0-1 inserted to their corresponding cells, but they must be opposite; like if row-Garth gets a 1 on column-Nala, then column-Garth gets a 0 on row-Nala.
I have highlighted (in the second matrix) all of the non-x cells. I have to make 10,000 matrices (or at least replicate the application of these random 1-0/0-1 dyads 10,000 times).
I have date fields as column labels in a pivot table. When I try to group them I'm only given the option to group by integers and not by months, years etc.
I've had a look at the format settings of the column and they are formatted as date fields.
I have a spreadsheet that contains data with the following format:
5 EA/BX 12 EA/PK
Unfortunately, sometimes the data is input without a space:
5EA/BX 12EA/BX
I am looking for a way to insert a space between the data when one does not exist. (I cannot have more than 1 space between the alpha numerical character and the numerical character.)
When you highlight a group of cells and give them a reference name- that name seems to be permanent. How do you delete one or add cells to the reference? Example attached book1.xls Cells A1-B3 are named "TheGroup".
I have a column of about 3000 numbers that need to be converted to bar codes. In order for the codes to work, I need to place a set of parentheses "()" around each number in the column. Do I need to do this by hand, or is there a function/script for this? Using Excel 2003
I have a question regarding automatic merging in VBA. Its similar to this thread (Macro Required - Automatically Merge vertically identical cells) but with a slight twist.
So say if I have four columns set up as follows, where the first line contains headings (before)
Team Position Salary Term (years)
Arsenal Goalkeeper 100 1
[Code] .......
Im looking for something like this (please ignore the periods as i had to put them to keep the table from incorrectly displaying). I'd like to highlight the non-merging of Striker (line 7 and 8 in column2) becasue one belongs to Manchester and the other to Arsenal
currently i have a address of a cell, i.e. "$C$3". and i want to search for this cell from a few group cells i.e. "Range1 = $A$1:$A$10", "Range2 = $B$1:$B$8", "Range3 = $C$2:$D$8". after searching for the matching cell, the macro would return the name of the group cell to me, i.e. in this case is "Range3". how would i go about doing that? could anyone enlighten me on this?
I have several groups of data in the same sheet. Each group has two blank rows above the first row of data. Each group has column "B" in common (e.g., "Phone" in the example attached). I'd like to add a title/label of "Phone" to the first column in the row immediately preceding the first row of data for that group.
So I have this list (I made it a little bit shorter).
So what you see is two different tasks (01 and 02) and three different conditions (A, B and C). In column B you see the result I would like to have. '/Searchtask_01.html' in A1 belongs to conditions A, because it is in session A. However, '/Searchtask_01.html' in A10 belongs to conditions B, because it is in session B.
