Why Do Some Excel Documents NOT Allow To Undo / Redo When Using Macro
Jul 11, 2013Some of my Excel files work perfectly in terms of undo/redo, while others simply cannot use that feature. I took a stroll through the internet looking for the answer, but the issues that I found seemed to point to the application losing its ability, which was resolved with a registry edit/update/change. I don't think that's the case here because I CAN undo is SOME documents.
After some investigation with my problem documents I have found that THIS Macro is the one thing all my undo-free documents have in common: [URL]
Recorded Macro Missing Paste Commands
Nov 13, 2008I have been using the "record macro feature". What I want the macro to do is as follows.
1. cut all data from column C and paste it into G.
2. Use the textTocolumns feature to split a comma delimited string into 2 seperate columns.
3. user the textToColumns feature to remove any leading spaces from column G.
4. cut columns d-H and shift them left startign in column C.
I can do all of this find bu using the GUI while recording the macro but when I check the vb script it's completely missing the paste commands.
When I try and run the macro it, quite rightly, returns "run-time error '1004':No data was selected to parse.
Below is the resulting recorded macro.
How do I amend this macro do include pasting the cut data?

Recorded Macro Incorrectly Hiding Columns
Nov 18, 2013I've recorded a macro in which I unhide certain columns, copy and paste some information then hide those columns again. The problem is that when the macro is finished, it incorrectly hides columns K to AN. I did not record that and it's not in the code so I'm lost as to why it's happening.

I would like the corresponding column B to have certain values depending on the value in column A (same row), as follows:

Speed-Up/Optimize Recorded Macro Code
Aug 30, 2006Im setting up a spreadsheet that does engineering calculations. Im using macros to run sizes from a standard schedule. It basically takes the values from one sheet (schedule) to another (calculation), then the result from the calculation sheet (Value only, not the link) is pasted back into the schedule. The macro seems very bulky and im sure that it can be made more efficient with a loop. here is a sample of the code from the macro;

Mar 18, 2014A coworker just ran something by me that i'm quite frankly baffled by. After running a macro, the undo function becomes disabled up to the point of when the macro was ran. I've done a quick search through the forums and can't seem to find this question so i thought i'd ask.
Is there an option to toggle somewhere or 3rd party addon that keeps Undo enabled after running a macro? On a similar topic for my own curiosity, what's the reason that it disables?
Recorded Macro Doesn't Seem To Provide Expected Result
Sep 21, 2009On column A, I simply do an A-Z sort that gives the expected result. So I recorded it as a macro. In column G is a code that corresponds with column A. When the marcro is executed Column A is sorted but the corresponding value in G stays where it is. Clicking the A-Z button works. But when that action is recorded as a macro I get the above quirck. Since VBA is not my beef, I don't really know what wrong.

Converting Recorded Macro Into Workable VBA To Add New Sheet At End Of Workbook
Apr 22, 2013I have a button with a macro assigned. The macro needs to create a new worksheet at the end of the workbook, rename the new sheet to "New County", make the cell size match the rest of the workbook, and then paste in a template from another sheet called "Master".
I recorded a macro that does this, but it has a static reference to the new sheet instead of what ever the new sheet is. So the Macro works one time, but never again. I'm sure this is an easy fix, and perhaps there is a much easier way to do this, but my limited VBA knowledge is hampering me.

Restore Excel Undo History After Running Macro?
Jun 11, 2014I managed to implement a macro that adds a time/date stamp in Column A when any of the subsequent cells in that row are changed. With this now working, I really need the ability to restore the undo history in case a change to the data needs to be reverted.

Undo Option Lost After Event Macro Code
May 23, 2008I have a sales spreadsheet, that people on this forum have very kindly helped me with by giving me two macros; one to remind users that they need to update the month cell when an order comes in, and the other to automatically put the date in a cell when any cell in that row is changed.

However...
We've now found that we cannot undo anything in these spreadsheets. If, for example, a cell is incorrectly copied or deleted, the only way of undoing the change is to shut down the spreadsheet without saving!
Is this just a by-product of using the time macro (a search on other threads suggests that it might be), and, if so, is there any way of changing it?
Excel 2010 :: Result Of Recorded Macro Is Different From Hand Work
Mar 10, 2014I have csv file with tab delimited fields (see attached blacklist.csv). 3rd and 4th fields are in format dd/mm/yyyy hh24:mi:ss, some fields can be zero. I need to split data to columns and display datetime fields in format dd.mm.yyyy hh:mm:ss.
OK... open csv in Excel, select column A, press button "Split in columns", select tab as delimiter, choose date format (DMY) for 3rd and 4th field and press OK. Test is splitted into columns, now select columns C and D and select desired format "dd.mm.yyyy hh:mm:ss". Then I select columns A:E and set column widths to fit data in columns. This all is OK and without problems (see attached file Handmade.xlsx).
But now... Now I record all previous step into macro. There is macro text: [Code] ....
Now I copy macro text into clipboard and open blacklist.csv again. Insert button to list and bind it to new macro. Paste text of macro from clipboard. (See attached file blacklist_beforeClick.xlsm). Now click button Btn and voila... some dates remain in previous format, some dates seems to be in desired format, but day and month are swapped. Why are there differences when comparing data made by hand and data made by macro??? compare.jpg This is the same behavior in more computers, some use Czech version of Excel 2010, some use English version.
Automate Recorded Macro - Sort Range Of Cell Based On Two Values

I now want the macro to run automatically when refreshing the workbook with F9, so as the time changes so will the sorting. Everything works fine except the sorting doesn't refresh when F9 is refreshed.

Looping A Macro To Build A Report
Jul 14, 2009I have a very large workbook which includes 100 sheets (A) each containing fixed data relevant to one unit (n) (in this case n = a building; there are 100 buildings), a few sheets (B) containing parameters & settings, and then 1 main sheet (C) which does complex calculations pulling & combining data from sheets (A) based on the parameters in sheets (B). The workbook is so large, (100MB+) that it has to be set to calculate manually.
One of the settings in one of the sheets (B) dictates which building (n) is currently being looked at. As such, sheet (C) effectively builds a report for building (n) and so can report on just one building at a time, that building (n) being determined by a drop-down box listing all of the available buildings and that list is in turn defined in one of the sheets (B).
If I want to get a consolidated picture for all buildings I currently manually change the building choice (n) in the dropdown box, and then run a macro (m1) which updates the report to show what I want, selects the specific bits of the report I want and copies the selection, switches to a separate pre-formatted consolidation sheet I have created (D), jumps to the last row in that sheet, pastes values and then jumps back to Sheet (C).
I then need to manually change the selection (n) and then rerun macro (m1).
What I would like is another macro (m2), which automatically loops through the different values for (n) so that the whole process is automated. Then in a perfect world, perhaps even a separate macro (m3) which would give me a list of tickboxes so that I could select specific properties for which to run the report.
Excel 2011 :: Mac Recorded Macro Does Not Work With Windows - Runtime Error 1004
Nov 20, 2013I have been given a macro recorded on a mac and it works fine with Mac Excel 2011. Unfortunately, I need to make it to work on a windows machine, but it comes up with an error message "macro unable to set width property of the window class. Run-time error 1004". When I press debug it takes me to the line .Width = 1456.

Jan 13, 2013I am trying to build a macro using two files. The file 'master data.xls' has student details in a table containing 10 column heads as attributes (roll, name, address, email etc). The file 'Student Profile.xls' has been formatted to show individual student details in the form of a report. I want to prepare a macro such that each time I enter a new record in the "master data.xls", the data from new entry is printed in the format as given in "Student Profile.xls" as a pdf file which is saved with a file name defined by "(roll number) (First Name) (Last Name)" and the same is emailed to the student's email ID as specified in the "master data.xls" with the mail containing an address to the student name (ex: Dear Tom) and a standard text message in the body.

Trying To Build A Macro Filter Based On Data In Either Of Two Columns
Jul 31, 2008I created a contact list that incorporates buttons at the top of the page to sort the data based on two customer type columns (thanks to Richard for help getting this far!).
I am attaching the file so that it will be easier to take a look. Four of the five macros are working fine but the second one ("All Clients") filters on the premise that "yes" is answered in either of the two customer type columns. In other words I am trying to show the records that have "yes" entered in either of these two columns, not necessarily both columns.

Nov 7, 2012I'm trying to build a macro that iteratively runs a goal seek, then reduces a certain value (Let's call it "Bogey") in a different cell by a small amount (note that changing Bogey will affect the desired goal seek value), then runs the goal seek again, reduces Bogey by a small amount again, etc etc, and keeps running in this loop, with the restriction on this loop being that a different cell, affected by Bogey--let's call it "Constraint"--doesn't drop below a certain amount.
