Is there a way to build a drop down into a chart so that the user can select which items they want to view on a chart? Attached is a sample file below. Just wondering if there is a way to allow users to select to view all items in the chart or to select just a few at a time to compare and contrast.

Selection is equal to A3:K100, conditions are similar to:
- Formula is =$K3="PIP"
Then for formatting I chose WHITE BOLD FONT & BLUE SOLID PATTERN, for example.
Conditional formatting only allows 3 conditions. If this can be replicated
using VBA, then you can set "n" conditions, correct?
I am working with the Conditional Formatting, which is fine for one cell. Here is what I am trying to do: IF cell in $A1 = 1 then bold $B2:$M2 and apply solid line border to top of cell ranges. I have tried conditional formatting but it only formats the cells in column A. And I can't seem to find a BOLD statement for the cell formulas.

If AI3=C3 & C3 is red, format AI3 blue
If AI3=D3 & D3 is red, format AI3 blue
Otherwise, leave AI3 unformatted.

I have one column that contains a monetary amount (column AQ) , and another that contains text reading either "inflows" or "outflows" (column AC)
When AC says "inflows", AQ should be positive, and when AC says "Outflows", AQ should be negative.
I need the text in column AQ (the monetary amount) to become red when the the opposite is true.
i.e. When AQ is negative and AC says "Inflows", AQ should become red. And when AQ is positive and AC says "Outflows", AQ should become red.
I have two columns. In column B is the date of "last check". I column A is the date of "next check". I would like to have cell A2 in yellow color 334 days after the date entered in cell A3 and than in red color 365 days after the date entered in cell A3. Same thing for cell B2 related to date entered in cell B3. Yellow color in cells announces that check will expire within 30 days and red color that check has been expired.

Can this operation be performed, such that if I start in dollars, and I click the button once, it shifts by range to EURO (not formulas...just symbol)...and then if I click the same button again, it goes to CAD, and then back to USD with a third click?

For example a column of "BUY"'s and "SELL"'s where the "BUY"s are formatted with the default "light green fill, dark green text". I have other columns that are conditionally formatted using a formula. When I base the result on a formula I don't seem to have the option to use the default formats. Is it possible to use the defaults or maybe even how to customize my format to look like the default? It would look a lot better if I had a uniform red/green style throughout the sheet.

As a pert of a spreadsheet I have 2 columns (M5:N400) of 400 cells deep. Each cell in these columns contains a formula that counts days, when appropriate. They can end up showing a value of blank, a number between 0 and 5, or any number greater than 5. (But very rarely greater than 30)
If the number is greater than 5 then it means that it has exceeded it's target time and I wish to highlight this with conditional formatting (CF). I have a CF on all cells in both columns that says.
If "The cell value" is "Greater than" "5"... then
format the background colour to a pale yellow.
It works, but doesn't work.
If the cell value is 0 to 5 it's unchanged. Good.
If the cell value is >5 it changes. Good.
BUT, if the cell is blank it also changes. Bad!!!
I assume it is because it is looking at the fact that there is a formula in the cell, even though the displayed value is "". So I tried a second level saying that if the cell is equal to "" then no format, but it still changes.
I need to enter dates for the previous year, is there any way of formatting the cell to show the dd/mm/2011 when I format a whole column?

2. A1 will turn back to white if either "John Doe" or "Jane Doe" is inserted in B1.
3. If no value is inserted in A1, A1 needs to remain white.
4. I'll need to do the same for A2-B2, and so on.
That's it. I tried this in C1: =IF(AND(A1>2000,B1="JANE DOE"),1,IF(AND(A1>2000,B1="JOHN DOE"),1,0)).
I then used Conditional Formatting in A1 to point to C1 and turn the red in A1 off or on based on the result. Hey, it worked! Problem is, A1 needs to stay white until a value is entered, and no value entered returns 0 (red), which oddly enough is exactly what I'm telling it to do. Surprise! How do I get A1 to default to white until a value is entered in A1?

I am trying to organise historic data of a horse racing system I am working on, and I have a column of finishing positions. Obviously if the position is 1, then the horse was a winner, and if the value is over 1, the horse lost.

I am trying to set up a sheet that will format a cell based on a comparison to another cell. I want to use a diagonal cell format if the cell is less than the comparison cell. I’ve tried this using Conditional Formatting but diagonal formatting is not available.

The function can transfer the data but not include the formation.
In the attachment, A6 can show the data in C3 & C4 , which can't show the formation of " red".
I change the formation in C3 & C4, the A6 with validity can automatically be formated.
Eg,
C3 & C4 : red
A6 : red, too.
I basically have a spreadsheet with several columns A-E. Column A contains a number from 1-6. I want to format the contents of the cells in column B based upon the number in column A.
An example:
If A3 = 1
Then I want B3 to be - Font size 10, bold, underlined, indented twice.
Y3:Y500 contains a range of years, 2014/2015 through to 2018/2019, for a total of 5 different values (So conditional formatting is out the window). I'd like code which highlights the rest of the row, Z:FN, in a certain colour depending on the value in Y3:Y500.
Also, where there is data in the cells between Z:FN I'd like that to highlight in yet another contrasting colour.

the main thing is that the cells in the rows have if formulas that supple the data for the cells. The cells will be blank if nothing is to be displayed but they will still contain the formula.
I want to format a cell conditional on the value of another cell. I have read numerous threads on the topic and no matter what I do, it doesn't seem to work for me. I've made it a simple as possible by creating a new workbook and entering:
A1: 5
B1: 2
C1: Some random text - this cell has the conditional formula: ="A1>B1"
