Cell That Executed Formula

I'm trying to identify the Active Cell for the formula that is executing.
Currently, using VBA, if the last manually clicked active cell (where the cursor resides)
is different than the cell containing the executing formula I get the
wrong cell, row, or column using ActiveCell.

I have a sheet with a country in it in A1 (validation list).
Depending on the country in A1 a country specific IF command has to be executed on a column1 with first cel = A3. This IF command also relies on the values in column 2 and 3 on the same row. (B3 and C3 are in the IF cmd)
I taught to do it like this : =IF($A$1="Spain";$A$5;0) with A5 being the country specific IF command which should be executed when spain is selected. however when I do this, this only works for the first cell ( I cannot drag this formule down, since it will always give the value calculated in column 2 and 3 on row1.
I'm not sure if the best way to 'select' the country specific IF cmd is with another IF command..

I have some code which formats a worksheet based on user selections in a form. The code works, except when the user has made the same selections in two multi-select list boxes. I need to find a way to determine whether the code has already formatted the worksheet.
To me, it seems that there might be two ways to do this, 1) have a test on the original block of code that checks whether this portion of the code has already executed for this variable or 2) check the worksheet for the string (the code formats the same string each time but adds the variable for the current iteration of the loop only if Year1 = True.) The problem is that I only want to format the column if it hasn't already been formatted for that selection.

I have a query in Excel 2003.
My question is:
I have a macro created for my Excel. I have a short cut key to run this macro. When i run the macro, the VB editor is opened where i have written the code. My requirement is, I don't want the VB editor to be opened when i run the macro. I want the macro to be executed but the VB editor should not be visible to the user.

I have a macro which output depence on the variable input. Input is represented by drop-down list. Before, I was choosing input from drop-down, then pressing the button my macro was running. Now, I'm thinking to if it's possible to exclude a spare operation from button pressing, just by clicking from drop-down.
My drop-down list is created through "Data->Validation->List box"

I got two worksheets visible for user to enter information with vba codes behind the sheets(i.e. Private Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Range). Most cells of the worksheets are protected if the vba is executed. However, it was found that if user chooses not to run the macro when prompted, the worksheet can be edited whatever user want. So, how can the worksheet whole worksheet is protected if macro is not run?

I have just encountered a very peculiar problem when using Scrollbar_Change Event for Controls Scrollbar (in a worksheet). I have tree scrollbars and assigned Event code for each one: ScrollBar1_Change, ScrollBar2_Change and ScrollBar3_Change.
Events works perfectly when I click on the arrows to adjust the scrollbar. What is strage however, event is not executed when I adjust the scrollbar itself (pulling the bar with a mouse) if I try it first time after adjusting another scrollbar. In such situation Scrollbar is adjusted on the screen, even linked cell is changed, but the Change Event is not executed. But when the same scrollbar is adjusted second time Change event is executed. To sum up: Scrollbar_Change event is not executed when adjusting the scrollbar with the mouse the first time after "switching" from one scrollbar to another, but is works perfectly in any other situation. It has nothing to do with the code istelf. I get this effect when I create a new workbookm add 3 scrollbars and a code like:

I ran into a screen update problem in a project I was working on and couldn't find a solution, so I wrote some test code in a new workbook as follows;

Seems simple enough,eh?
When I step through this code the first statement works(sheet1 is selected)
The next statement is executed without an error, so I assume it works
The next statement sheet2 is selected, and the screen updates!

When I close my worksheet excel asks me if I wish to save the file one last time, if I click 'yes' I would like some more code to be executed and then have the spreadsheet save itself and close definitively, how can this be done using vba?

I have a Form that user fill in information on, once they click the OK button, excel is filled with the inserted text on the form in the correct cells.
My question is, how do I validate that they have actually entered data in some cells, which I want to make mandatory, and if they have not, prompt them (this could be a simple message box) to fill it in. Let them fill it, and once they click OK again, check again... until all the mandatory fields are filled, only then will the macro fill in the excel cells.

I was working on a presentation for work where I wanted to build a 'Family Feud' type board to play a game. In the board I am using activex text boxes with code that would hide the text box to reveal the answer underneath or it would show a custom shape (an X in a box) and play the buzzer sound. The code is pretty simple, first I would make the shape visible, then I would play the sound then the shape would be made invisible. If I step through the macro everything works fine, but when I run the macro, you never see the shape. It's almost as if the sound plays before the shape shows up and then it is made invisible again. I tried putting a wait and a sleep command between making the shape visible and playing the sound but that made no difference. If I remove the code to hide the shape at the end and run the macro, the sound plays and then the shape appears. Is there anyway to have the shape appear prior to or at the same time as the sound plays?

I have inherited support for the an Excel 'program' that seems to be fairly unstable. I am currently having problems with the following code in a subroutine (executed when the user presses a command button):

Sometimes it works and sometimes I get the following error: Run-time error '1004'

I'm basically looking for something almost like an inverse function to INDIRECT. This function would first look at a cell's formula as a text string, parse out the first valid cell reference in A1 format, and return that cell as a text string.
Detail: I have a spreadsheet with cells that point to other values. I would like to get only the row number from the first cell reference in the formula residing in a given cell. For example:
Suppose A1 has the formula =AL267. and A2 has the formula =SUM(AL94:AL235)
I would like a formula in B1 that returns the text string, "AL267" so that I would know this is the first reference.
Ideally it could be dragged down to B2 such that it returns the text string "AL94" (and not "AL235") because AL94 is the first cell reference in A2's
Currently I am copying the formulas after hitting ctl+` and pasting that text into a text editor, followed by text operations to manipulate the results into the desired values. Any solution that didn't involve going out to notepad.

Note: I know the syntax below is not how you would enter forumlas into Excel but I am using it to quickly illustrate what I'm trying to do and need help with. A cell not in column D, E, or F contains a formula of the form: F=IF(D>0, D/E, "blank") .
Note: If a cell in column D>0 (eg. D5>0) then the cell to the right of the selected D cell (eg. E5) will also be >0 ; otherwise, both cells will be empty.
This is what I want to do: If cell D?>0 , then F?=D?/E? ; otherwise, F?=empty .
Example 1: If D5>0, then F5=D5/E5 ; otherwise F5=empty .
Example 2: If D7>0, then F7=D7/E7 ; otherwise F7=empty .
Etc. I want this to apply to all rows.
I cannot enter the formula directly into the F? cell because sometimes I will need to enter data into cell F? manually. When I need to enter data manually into F? this results in the formula being overwritten by the new data and this means that if I ever needed to have data calulated based on the formula F=IF(D>0, D/E, "blank") I would have to re-enter the formula from scratch over again; obviously this is a nusance.

I have a situation where I have to curve fit data, this can lead to different formulas being used with varying constants.
Is it possible to pickup a TEXT based formula and related constants from other cells, and then place this into another cell as a functioning formula. For Example
Cell A1 contains the formula as a text string whether it be y=a+bx+cx^2, or y=a+b/x, etc
Cells A2:A6 contain the individual constants, a, b, c, etc
I would then want the VBA to read the text based formula and put it into an output cell as a functioning excel formulae.g
In cell B10: =a+b*A10+c*A10^2
I understand picking the constants up and putting the formula should not be too much of an issue, however trying to insert the variable form of the curve fit is the part that I am struggling with, and am unsure if possible.

I would like to copy a formula in a cell and then paste only the text of the formula, but I can't figure it out. Basically, I would like to avoid going into the cells and absolute referencing or hitting F2, then copying the text.
When I hit "Ctrl C" to copy the cell, then hit "Alt/E/S/F/Enter" to paste the formula, it is just like a regular copy/paste formula-wise in that the references move.

I am using vlookup to get a cell value from another sheet, but if the cell has "&" or "/" I need to substitue "&" and "/" with "and" so that the cell can be added later to a url.
i am using =VLOOKUP(a1,Sheet2!A1:W17968,6) to get the value of a1 in sheet 2 and return the value of column 6
this will return "Audio Cables & Leads" but i need it to say Audio Cables and Leads
I need the formula to also check and replace "/" with "and" as well so cables/wire will be Cables and wire

I'm wondering if it's possible to write a formala that if a certain condition is met, performs a formula referenced in another cell. For example: Column A contains a list of formulas. In column B is the condition, let's use Work Type as an example. The result (or the formula I need) would be in column C. So if the work type is "Type1", then the formula in the corresponding column C cell would perform the formula in cell A5. If the work type is "Type8", then the formula in the corresponding column C cell would perform the formula in cell A2.
Is this possible to do without VBA?

I have attached a sample of the spreadsheet. The cell/cells in question are f32:f36 on the first tab.
Question #1 how this formula works or what it does.
Question #2 Is when I enter the required information in cells a32:e32 it enters an N/A in cell f32. When I than click on cell F32 and than click on the formula bar and hit enter the information populates.

I have two questions:
1. Is there a way cells with formulas cannot be tampered even if they are not locked? So when I enter a data on a cell with formula, the formula won't be erased? The sample below shows that C1 and C2 has formulas but let's say I enter a value on C1, the formula should still stay? Is this possible?

1 5 10 =SUM(A1:B10)
2 2 4 =SUM(A2:B2)
2. Let's say I have a total of 125 (A1) and I need to get the answer (B1) where it has 5 with No. 3 on top (subscript) of 5? How to create a formula for this (I hope I make sense)?

I know this is an easy one but I'm unsure why I can't easily modify a formula. The key event in this formula is "+190". Every time I change the value the formula no longer works. I've copied to another cell and the formula no longer works. My question is when you have a formula like this one if you have to modify how do you do it and keep the formula working.

I want to use the values in a range of cells in a sheet for a formula in another sheet. The problem is that these range of cells already has formulas and when I select these cells for use in another formula, the values doesn't get picked up and my formula doesn't work. for example -
cell L4 in sheet 1 has a formula - ='H:VK_2011_onwards1_ACC_BJS_SAA 6
and it has a value - 34.76
cell L5 in sheet 1 has a formula - ='H:VK_2011_onwards1_ACC_BJS_SAA 6
and it has a value - 47.09
Now I want to use this two cell to calculate an average in sheet 2. So if I use the formula =AVERAGE(Sheet1!L4:L5). I get no result.
