where I can find the colour pallette codes for commands like, as my suck it see method of guessing the right colour is pretty time cosuming.
selection.Interior.ColorIndex = 34
and secondly, can rgb be used to fill cells colour i.e. something like
range.colour or background whatever the command is. rgb(255,255,255)
A column of cells can be 1o different shades of green according to their value (achieved by using conditional formatting.) I want to arrange that at a certain time all the cells of a part of the row of a formatted cell are the same colour.
I'm trying to convert various codes from one column of an excel spreadsheet into different codes in another column. I was able to accomplish this with "If" statements, however I'm only able to string together seven of these statements in one command. Is there a better way to add formulas for more than seven conversions? Below is a copy of what I've done so far with the seven converts:
I created a financial forecast model from scratch. The model is self-contained and has no external links.
Backgrounder
Before firing a question at you, let me explain briefly how the model works. I have an assumptions tab, several costs tab from various departments that ultimately feed the Results tab (target price on a monthly basis) . Let's assume that my target price is on line 200. To me more specific, for Jan09, the target price is on B200, Feb09 on C200 and so on.
Management will feed the model themselves, given that they are assigned specific areas that they can input their forecast.
Issue or question to you
I would like to track historical changes to the price on line 200 on my target page. That is for every individual change and their impact on price.
To illustrate this let assume the following:
Let say User A made several changes on his forecast, I would like the macro to automatically record the individual change that has been made and the impact it had on the target price on line 200.
Assume that User A made two changes on his forecasting sheet. He increased the cost of supplies by $50,000 (on one cell) and increased the cost of labour by $10,000 (on another cell).
What I would love to have is a macro that would record the changes that User A changed; (i.e. cell, tab, user) after he entered the $50,000 and after he entered the $10,000. This would be recorded on a separate sheet.
Thus, immediately he entered the $50,000 on the cell and press it would record the change and the impact it had on price on the target page. Then when he entered the $10,000, it would do the same.
The format of the "changes sheet" that would contain the changes would look something like this:
USER..Date..Cell changed...Tab..From value..To value. Price Before Price after Impact (Price before less price after)
I am aware that there's a lot of details but if you don't understand the issue, it's very difficult for you to resolve.
I assume that it requires a VBA code of some sort to set this up. Given that I am not familiar (a true dummy) with VBA, I would need like a step by step instruction.
Is there a way I can set up the worksheet so that in one cell I can type out for example product codes/numbers and by doing the description for the product will come up in another cell. Rather then copy and pasting very the many different product descriptions?
I am working on a large volume spreadsheet comprising of the usual mailing list fields such as first name, surname, company, address1, address 2 , suburb, state, postcode etc etc
Is there a way for Excel to auto fill a line of details (or display a list the matching entries)?
this way, i can start to enter a semi-unique field such as surname, company or address and a list of matching entries pop up for me to select the best fit.
The codes in E column are what is entered in a worksheet range (user cannot see the list). Needed is to show both the two-character code in column E and the text definitions in column F in the dropdown. As data validation now works, users only see the two-character code and are not remembering what the code stands for - they need to see the definition.
Is there a way to show both the two-character code from column E along with the text in column F? When user selects, only the code would be entered in the target cell. (Is data validation the correct technique?)
I have set this problem up in closely located cells to construct the issue. In reality, the validation list is well off-screen from where the user is actually inserting the codes and there are many more codes/definitions.
In 1 cell i need a forumla to give me a starting number and take one away each time a code or codes are dislayed in a cell range. Something like this
A1 = 23 days or any number days i needed
Cell range B1:C52
every time a selected 1 or 2 letter code appears in the cell range i want A1 to subtract 1 day from the starting number, i would need it to subtract half a day if one code appears ie HD, the codes may be P, OT, HD
How I use the Private Subs for Workbook_AddInInstall and Workbook_AddInUninstall with my addins and confirm it is nececessary to use them?
For 2 weeks, I have not been able to get my addins to activate and load into the AddIns tab. I think these missing Subs are why. Ironically, Every example on how to create addins never mention this step or it being necessary. I've even looked in Macros book and it does not mention anything about needing these subs in the Creating AddIns section so they will show up in the AddIns Tab.
How I can get my Addins in the tab and not the Quick Launch menu
I would like someone to explain the reason why when the program is run, the maximum value in column S successfully is selected by being colored in pink, but the minimum in column R between those pink max's (indicated by the entire row outlined in red) is not the minimum.
In other words, look at the numbers in column R. Only the 14.08 rows are supposed to be boxed in red. I can't understand why the 30.08 and the 46.08 are boxed in red??? And puzzling to me is why the 46.08 near the top are boxed, yet the 46.08 near the bottom are not boxed.
I just want to have a column sorted by Z-A order and then A-Z by the same button, I recorded 2 macros on 2 buttons and tried to join codes with "if, elseif".
Is there any way that i could open and enter commands in ms dos controlling from excel vba code?, like, say i wanted to change the current directory in msdos from d: to c:, is there anyway that i could do it from excel vba?
I have a template sheet where the only thing the user need to do is fill in all the appropriate cells and the click the button that says SAVE to save the file to the right folder and file name.
I want to Grey out the ribbon completely so that user can even change the font or any thing else for that matter. The sheet and workbook is protected. Need a way to stop any unwanted tinkering.
Sub elaseval() For each cell in Range(“B7:B50”) Range("cell.Value").Select Selection.Copy Sheets("Input").Select Range("$E$7").Select Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlValues, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks:= _ False, Transpose:=False Sheets("Sensitivity").Select Range("C” & cell.Row : ”T” & cell.Row").Select Selection.Copy Range("C" & Cell.Row).Select Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlValues, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks:= _ False, Transpose:=False Next Cell End Sub
I am trying to apply this set of commands to each cell in the range B7:B50. For each of these cells, I need "cell.Value" to refer to the value in the respective cell and "cell.Row" to represent the row of the cell that is currently being used.
I am trying to remove File Commands from this specific workbook and force save and send functions through command buttons.
This is the code I tried in the workbook module to remove file commands(Excel 2003): __________ Sub Workbook_Open() Dim a As CommandBar For Each a In Application.CommandBars Application.CommandBars(a.Name).Enabled = False Next Application.CommandBars("File").Enabled = False Application.CommandBars("Edit").Enabled = False Application.CommandBars("View").Enabled = False........
I have made an Excel sheet that uses ActiveX controls (Option Box and Check Box). I have included a couple of screen caps at the bottom of this post to better explain the layout. Here are the specifics:
There is one Option Box Group labeled "InputOptionGroup" with choices labeled: "FirstOption", "SecondOption", "RefundOption" and "NoneOption".
Adjacent to the Option Box is a series of Check Boxes that correspond to the choice made in the Option Box with the exception of "NoneOption". The Check Boxes are labeled "FirstCheck", "SecondCheck" and "RefundCheck". Each Check Box object belongs to the group labeled "OutputCheckGroup".
I do know that the value of the Option Box choices and Check Boxes can be either True or False depending on if it has been chosen or marked, but I do not know how to incorporate these values into the action script. With that being said, here's what I'm trying to accomplish:
...when "FirstOption" is chosen, clear values of all Check Boxes and place a check mark in "FirstCheck". ...when "SecondOption" is chosen, clear values of all Check Boxes and place a check mark in "SecondCheck". ...when "RefundOption" is chosen, clear values of all Check Boxes and place a check mark in "RefundCheck". ...when "NoneOption" is chosen, clear values of all Check Boxes (no furthur action).
Also, there are a couple more requests:Is there a way to lock the Check Boxes from user input? I want the Check Box values to be altered only by the choice in the Option Box. Take the "GPIN" field, the one on the right is locked from user input. This particular cell references user input from the "GPIN" field on the left. Is there a way to return a blank value when the input field is blank insted of returning a "0"? If you notice, all fields on the right reference blank values as "0". In the left "Amount" field, I need to display a "$" followed by the value in the input "Amount" field
I need to disable the "save as" file menu command when a user opens a shared document. Upon exit I want to enable the save as so that other opened worksheets are not affected. This code works: CommandBars("File").Controls("Save As...").Enabled = False
My problem is this. I can activate this command by selecting run in the VB editor. But I need for this action to be automatic when a user opens the worksheet. I did this in the editor:
Under general
Sub dISABLESAVEAS() CommandBars("File").Controls("Save As...").Enabled = False End
Sub WORKSHEET_BEFORECLOSE() CommandBars("File").Controls("Save As...").Enabled = True End
I work for a UK charity and have a list of funders in an Excel 2007 spreadsheet.
One of the columns refers to the date on which a new application for funding can be made to that particular funder.
In many cases new applications for funding can't be made for 1 or more years since the last application - sometimes as many as 5 years later. How to get a cell to refer to the date that it contains.
For example, say I have in cell A1 "The Acme Funding Organisation" and in cell B1 (i.e. the "Reapply when?" column) a date of 01/04/2013 (British date format, i.e. 1 April 2013) then what I want Excel to do is to look at the date in cell B1 and if that date has been reached to highlight the cell red. That way I'll know that the reapply date has been reached & that a new application can be made.
In Column A each cell will contain a date (differnet from other cells in that column) when inspection was last done.
Column B is when the weekly inspection is due. Column C is when bi-weekly inspection is due. Column D is when monthly inspection is due. Column E is when 6 monthly inspection is due.
I need a formula to change the colour of cells B, C, D & E when each inspection is due depending on the date entered in A
I am hoping its possible that the cell colour can stay for 2 days after the due date and then return back to blank after the second day.
For example if cell A1 has a date of January 1 2013 then on January 8 2013 cell B1 turns red then on January 10 2013 the cell returns back to normal.
A1 B1 C1 D1 E1
Inspection Date Weeekly Due Bi-WeeklyDue Monthly Due 6 Monthly Due
January 1 2013 Change red Jan 8 & return blank Jan 10 Change red Jan 15 & return blank Jan 17 Change red Feb 1 & return blank Feb 3 Change red June 1 & return blank June 3
I have a table which says that this is the amount of coloured cells we have in another sheet.
For e.g.
Field Name Code A Item Description 5
Now, the item description column has 5 cells in another sheet which are filled in with "Yellow" Colour. So what i want to do is to click on this 5 in sheet 2 in this case as per the attached sample which takes me to the filtered result on sheet1 of 5 yellow coloured cells under the column of Item description including an additional filter of Code "A"
In Column A each cell will contain a date (differnet from other cells in that column) when inspection was last done.
Is it possible to use a formula to shade a cell dependent on a condition? I have tried an if formula (see below) but it is incorrect. =if('November 2006 SVOC'!B6>'March 2006 SVOC'!C6,'November 2006 SVOC'!B6 [red],if('November 2006 SVOC'!B6<'March 2006 SVOC'!C6,'November 2006 SVOC'!B6 [blue],))
I need to write a condition in such a way that cell IF A1= "DBR","BPR","SLR","SKR" then change cell B1 to SPECIFIC COLOUR Each condition different colour. A1 values ("DBR","BPR","SLR","SKR") is a list of selectable values. if the condition is falls then B1 should be normal (white color cell) with 0 in it.
In the xls for each step I have 2 raws-planned and actual. Step planned duration is populated manually over the weeks. Before that row we have another reflecting the actual step status per week
I would like to find a way how cell reflecting the actual status of a step can be automatically populated (coulored) based on the colour/value of activities that are planned for that week and for that step.Activities are listed below the step and again have planned and actual row.
The rule should be : if for a week we have several activities all of them should be finished in order to have step stataus auto populated as green. If a single activity planned for that week is not done-then weekly step status should be red.
The activities for each step are grouped below the step. It seems that one of the difficult part in that request would be how formula will understand where starts and finishes the activities that belong to one step. To get that happen I placed a column showing step and another column where we activity.
Using 2007, I need to conditionally format a cell colour based on 5 other cell colours that have been conditionally formatted. The 5 other cells will be coloured either red or greem. What I want to do is have an overall status cell that would be show green if all of the other 5 cells were green, amber if 4 of the other cells were green and one was red and red if 3 or more cells are red.
