I have a workbook in Excel 2007 with several sheets imported from other workbooks. In the course of this, one of them has brought several custom cell styles with it and I would like to be rid of them, as they clutter up the cell styles gallery.
Most of them were cooperative and deleted simply enough by right-clicking and selecting 'Delete', but one is proving a little more stubborn.
When I mouse over it, it plays the 'alert' noise (the 'bink' you get when Excel wants to alert you to something) and then nothing happens. There is no noticeable change to text or cell, as there should be thanks to 2007's previewing ability. Trying to apply the style results in the message
"Style ' 386grabber=VGA.3GR ' not found."
(the line breaks are present in the message and seem to be because the style name actually has character returns as the first and last characters).
Is there a way to delete this style, or am I going to have to resign myself to having an annoying noise every time I try to apply styles
I have a calendar I have developed that highlights the current date and opens by default to the current month. Each worksheet is a seperate month. The current date highlighting is written with a public macro and the opening to current month is a private macro. The problem comes when this workbook is shared and the other users have to agree to accept my macro because of security. I would like to bypass that requirement and just have the workbook stand alone without the permission.
I understand the specification of a Function procedure does not provide for it to change the contents of cells. However, I have the need/preference to be able to change cell data by using a custom function (instead of a Sub) because of its ease of use and execution of multiple what-if scenarios - displayed jointly.
Is there a way around this specification/limitation - any way? Are there different techniques (standard or non-standard) to achieve thisr goal?
I often use the same file/pivot table for both month and weekly reporting. In my source data my field headers show 1,2,3,4..etc. This way I can use for month or weekly. But I often change the "Custom" name on the Field Value Settings to something more descriptive like "Jan" or "Week1"
The problem is that each time I update the the "Custom" name the Pivot Table auto refreshes and it takes forever to re-label all the columns.
Is there a way to suppress this refresh when updating the Custom Field Name?
I know OpenOffice can do it but I can't seem to figure out if Excel can or not. I have various styles defined to include the font, color, pattern, etc. which are setup the way that I want. I also have Options>View - Zero Values.", "style="background: #FFFFFF;padding: 2px;font-size: 10px;width: 550px;"");' onmouseout='GAL_hidepopup();'>formatting.htm" target="_blank">conditional formatting formulas set where I want. All appears to be working well. What I want is that the result of the conditional format uses the style reference rather than the absolute reference by changing the format in the conditional dialogue box. Can Excel handle that? If so, how?
I was creating command buttons and had trouble using the linked cell. I found an example on the forum here but the command buttons seem to have many different behaviors. On the attachment, "Button 1" and "Button 2" are the ones I created in Excel 2003. "Button A" and "Button B" are from an example I found on the forum.
1 and 2 can only be edited on design mode, and have the formula "=EMBED("Forms.OptionButton.1","")" by default (which yields an error when exiting the formula field). A and B can be edited at any time, and have an extra tab ("Control") on the Control Format dialog. This seems to allow the linked cell to be set and function pretty handily. Are A and B from a different version of Excel? Auto Merged Post; Here's the attachment:
I have some cell styles that refuse to be deleted in Excel 2010. I can see them on the ribbon, but right clicking and deleting doesn't do anything. Any way I can get rid of them? Just makes things look very messy. If I click them it says "Style 'XXX' not found."
I have a list of Cell Styles under the Styles tab in Excel 2007. I want to delete all the Cell Styles since its slowing down opening and operating of the Excel file. I do not want to individually delete them by right click-delete. Cmarco to run for performing this action?
***I DO NOT WANT TO REMOVE CELL STYLES FROM A RANGE- I WANT DELETE THE CELL STYLES FORM THE STYLES TAB IN THE HOME RIBBON IN EXCEL 2007****
I have selected a range of multiple rows and columns. I can change the alignment, cell color, where border lines appear, and the color of border lines.
However, I can not change the border line style. No matter what style I select, when drawn on the sheet it apppear as a thin solid line. I've tried all the dashed/dotted line options, but they appear to have no effect.
Ultimately, I want to color alternating rows of cells, and (since coloring hides grid lines) I want to add border lines the same color and style as the hidden grid lines.
I have a macro that changes the marker style for all series in a scatter chart, chosen through an input box.
[Code].....
It works nicely, but I want it to exclude any series that do not have markers (i.e. lines used to indicate a reference value). I've tried an if-then statement after the With statement, but it will add markers to any line series:
[Code] ......
Basically, if the series has markers or line+markers, I want it to change the marker style, otherwise do nothing with the series.
I'm trying to make a converter between about 8 various types of values. These are not units like Km or miles or something like that, but rather numbers that represent a specific "hardness value" on a variety of scales (to name a few: HRC, HRA, K)
What I've been doing so far is plotting the two types against eachother and then getting the best trendline I can so that I can use that formula to convert between the two with relative certainty. (for example, when plotting HV vs HRC my fourth order polynomial trendline with an Rsquared of 1 is y=0.0001x4 - 0.0188x3 + 1.0768x2 - 20.709x + 350.69)
My questions comes up where I was hoping to make a window or box of some sort allowing the user to input a numeric value, then selecting the Input units and the hopeful output calculated units, and have the box spit back to the user the conversion.
I want to be able to create a range of VBA userforms to quickly perform long tedious tasks. I want these userforms to be accessed from a nice tidy toolbar.
I have done this and it looks nice and works well. What I would like to be able to do is have my custom toolbar of userform controlled functions be transferable so that if someone else wants my toolbar and attached functions they can install it easily much the same way you can do with an add in.
Is this sort of thing possible or does it require them to manually install all my userforms, modules and toolbar? If it is possible what sort of things should I be looking at?
This may have been answered on here but can not seem to find it. My situation is I have values in A1,A2 & A3 that are like counter reading so the value is always changing. What I am looking to do is change the cell color if one of the values is over 500 from the other two values. Say A1 is 3000, A2 is 3250 and A3 is 3500. I would like the cell for A3 to change color.
Moving between different sheets changes the procedure window, which is a good thing, but can also can be error prone and annoying to search through several windows searching for the procedure or module currently working on. Is there a setting somewhere to prevent VBE from changing the current procedure window?
I added a custom add in ages and ages ago and have forgotten how I did it! I'm now trying to remove it but not having much luck.
Its not listed in the Tools>References menu and its not added on to a workbook saved in the C:Documents and SettingsUserApplication DataMicrosoftExcelXLSTART folder.
Are there other ways I could have added it? If so can someone let me know as I might be able to remove it then!
If I send a workbook out with the zoom set at 90...will the zoom be at 90 when others open it.? Also, is there a worksheet event that I could insert to force a specific worksheet to always open with the zoom at 90??
When using format cells > number >custom I want to custom oC with the degree symbol in superscript. how to get superscript into the custom box? Also where is the superscript icon for the quick access toolbar in Excel?
I am working on a excel file to help me interpret survey data. I am having some problems transposing data from tab1 to tab2. So basically, I need all the data from Z on tab1 to be transposed on individual lines on tab2, attached.
I am writing some custom functions to be saved in an Add-In file, but am having trouble saving named ranges. I would like named ranges in the Add-In file to be available in other spreadsheets. Is there a way to do this? Or is there a way to take a range from Excel and save it into a globally available named range using VBA?
I would like to custom sort a table by ID, the first ID to be shown on top would be the ID the user enters in an inputbox. Below is the code I used but I don’t know why its not working:
Sub CustSort() Dim MyCount As Integer MyCount = Application.CustomListCount + 1 MyValue = InputBox("Enter ID") Application.AddCustomList Array(MyValue) ActiveSheet.UsedRange.Sort _ Key1:= Range("A1"), _ Order1:=xlAscending, _ Header:=xlYes, _ OrderCustom:=MyCount, _ MatchCase:=False, _ Orientation:=xlTopToBottom, _ DataOption1:=xlSortNormal Application.DeleteCustomList MyCount End Sub
find attached an example, try entering 300000 in the inputbox the custom sort doesn’t work
to complete the attached worksheet. My aim is to “bring” into the RANGE column the contents of corresponding cells in that column whose name is chosen in the Select dropdown. I suspect that one of these lookup and reference functions can do this task but am lost as to which one of them:
CHOOSE COLUMN COLUMNS HLOOKUP INDEX LOOKUP MATCH ROW ROWS VLOOKUP
With page breaks in Excel, is it possible to have different pages span a different number of columns?
Right now, I have my page breaks laid out so I've got 3 separate pages. Currently, they are each 30 rows in height, and 30 columns in width.
However, I want the first one to be 20 columns wide, the second to be 30 columns wide and the third to be 40 columns wide.
If I try and drag the vertical blue bar, I adjust the column span for all 3 pages. I need a way to drag the vertical blue bar for each page separately.
I am wanting to create a custom function that i can enter into a cell to run a macro (MyMacro). I do not know how to write a function, but so far i have:
Public Function Run(MacroName As String) Application.Run MyMacro End Function
