May 11, 2009I'm having a problem with one of my spreadsheets. Back when I initially created it, I copied and pasted some information from another (web-based) program, including a check box that was at the end of the data. For some reason, this check box does not behave like the ones that you insert from excel itself: I can't select it at all. it seems to be somewhat attached to the cells it's near, in that if I insert cells to its left, it moves over. However, that is the only way I have been able to affect it so far, and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to delete it. It's not really disrupting anything, but it's a nuisance, and it's not very professional-looking.

Dec 6, 2008I have a worksheet that I use to monitor the progress of student interns. They are assigned 20 different tasks and recieve 5 points for each task they complete, for a possible total of 100. In my worksheet, I record their progress and maintain a running total. I do this by simply inserting the number "5" by each cell containing each task. Instead of inserting the value, what I'd prefer to do is simply place my cursor, click the mouse button, and have a formattable check mark appear with a hidden value of "5". I'm simply trying to create a snazzy interface. Do I want too much? Or is it actually possible to do this?

Nov 27, 2009My company uses 4 types of barcodes 8, 12, 13, & 14 number barcodes for our products my problem is that I can't figure out how to force the barcode to format properly no matter how somebody enters it if they don't use spaces or put them in the wrong spots, I can't use custom formats because there is 4 different layouts
8 digit should be "#### ####"
12 digit should be "###### ######"
13 digit should be "# ###### ######"
14 digit should be "# ## ##### ######"
these barcodes are in columns L, M, & N also right now 'm using a formula in another cell to verify the barcodes by calculating the check digit and comparing it to the check digit typed the formula i'm using is

Aug 10, 2012I have data in Row 53 that spans 7 columns, but stays in the same row. I want to design a loop to select every 7th cell in that row and check if it is empty. If not, add onto a "counter" then display the final number of occupied cells (the value of the counter) at the end. This is what I have so far, but I get all sorts of errors.

Check All Check Boxes With CheckBox
Sep 9, 2007I am creating a userform with 10 checkboxes. The first 9 checkboxes are user options. I want the 10th check box to be a "Select All" option i.e. if the 10th checkbox is checked all the other 9 options are deemed to have been selected.
The way I want the display to work is that if the 10th checkbox is ticked all other checkboxes are cleared. Also if the 10th checkbox is ticked and any of the other check boxes is selected then the 10th checkbox should be selected.
I have tried coding this up but the checkboxes don't seem to operate as desired. I placed some code on the click event for the last option button to set the vlaue for all other buttons to false. This works but the 10th check box doesn't get ticked itself. When I try to code up the other bit I get similar issues.

Oct 31, 2011Users can start an automatic copying process (active row from active sheet to sheet 2) by simply putting a date in a cell in column K. The activecell.row is copied over.
As part of the copying process, the value in cell D on the active row (the serial number) is copied to sheet 2.
Before this happens, I would like a checking procedure added to the code which will stop the same row being copied more than once, thus avoiding duplicates.
I have tried InStr and also worksheet.CountIf but can't figure this out.

Mar 5, 2008I have a sheet with 2329 rows. Row 1 & 2 should be the same number, then rows 3 & 4 should be the same, then 5 & 6, etc (see example below). This should result in an even number of rows, so either 2328 or 2330. So somewhere in this sheet, I either have a number repeated twice instead of just once, or a number that's not repeated at all. Is there an easy way to highlight where the error is without having to manually scan all 2329 cells?

Check Box Or To Not Check Box
Oct 21, 2009I am trying to create a basic spreadsheet in MSExcel used to collect standard info (Name, address blah blah blah). The people who will complete this will need to classify the people they are listing into groups (Group A, Group B etc. 5 groups total) and each group will be listed on a separate tab of the workbook (maybe this isn't the best way?).
As they enter the people they will need to decide if the person they are adding is to receive the welcome kit. Each company is limited to 50 welcome kits. My thought is to use a check box for them to indicate yes or no on the welcome kit.
Is there a way to display the number of welcome kits that are remaining on whatever tab they happen to be on?
Is there a way to give a clear indicator next to each name that 'yes' has been selected (colored box, text?).

What's the formula that gives the True/False answers? I could go IF(AND(A1=0,B1=0,etc...),TRUE,FALSE) that gets the results, but can it be done in a smarter method or can it done via array method?

• check whether a cell contains text, if so, then trim all spaces and get result. If it doesn't contain text then set the result as blank.
• check whether THE CELL T13 contains text, if it does then check the adjected cell (U13) if it contains text, if so, then concatenate the two cells with a space between them and remove any other spaces. If the T13 doesn't contain text, the set the result as blank. Also, I have another question: how could I use the counta formula without counting spaces?

Spell Check Via VBA
Oct 13, 2008I have is that the code does call the spell-check up and it goes through the motions.
However, when you perform this manually (as in from the toolbar), the spell-check accepts the items as you put in the text bar at the top if you change it.
When doing it via the VBA macro code, it will not accept the user amended-suggestions unless you highlight the (top) text bar area/row/cell to get it to accept some things - otherwise it just accepts the suggestion the checker gives n the section below - not the text you have amended.

May 18, 2009I have a cell (D19) that I want to be automated to return a value based on a formula (it will equal Cell D15). But I also want to have the ability to allow the user to override this and enter a manual value if needed. My idea on how to do this is having a check box with a macro where if it is checked it will unlock the cell and clear out the formula and when checked it will reenter the formula and lock the cell.
Also same form - I need a check box that will check all applicable check boxes (all boxes under Deductions to be taken). Can anyone assist me in setting up these check boxes so that my functions will work, or if there is a "better" way of providing these functions please let me know.
Highlights The Check Box In Red
Jul 30, 2009Just wondering if it is possible to put a check box with a macro say in cell C3 that when you tick the box it changes it to green as completed, but after a set time say 2 weeks the check box clears itself and changes the colour to red to highlight that its due again. Also when you tick the check box it inserts a date in another cell say D4 when it was ticked.
Reason for this is am trying to make a spread sheet with different products that require different testing frequency, some monthly some weekly and some fortnightly. At the moment we are just using a white board and staff just tick task completed problem is they need to check when last done especially when test required is of every 2 weeks and people forget.
If I make a spread sheet and it highlights the check box in red like I want to above at least it will give them a visual reminder that it is due.

I'd also like to see ifthere is a way to have the row number automaticaly referenced via the checkboxes cell link so I woudn't have to make a custom macro for each row I want to have he checkbox delete feature.
