Normally when a code copies a cell value from Workbook-A, closes Workbook-A and then pastes the value into Workbook-B it works flawlessly. However, i noticed that this doesn't work in all case, for example when a code repeats itself with the "For - Next" function then when the code copies from one workbook to the other it causes an error.
Here is my code and i made the part of the code that is red is where the issue lies.
Here is the file rCell.xlsm, in order for the code to execute you need to select the green cell. When you hit the macro a copy of the workbook is placed on your desktop. The code then tries to copy a range from the copied workbook and paste it in the original macro workbook. The pasting part is crashing. In the code i marked the issue in red.
I used a posted code to copy web query data from sheet2 to sheet1. Then a friend modified the code in order to Copy it to a new row in Sheet1 instead of a new column. The code works perfectly but I really wish that when the data is copied from Sheet2 to Sheet1 it will be only Values in order to keep my formulas and formats.
I read about .PasteSpecial xlPasteValues but I don't seem to find where exactly I should write it within the code.
I have a simple code that opens 2 workbooks and then copies and pastes a cell from one to the other. The cell that's being copied is a formula by the way.
My problem is that the copy and paste keeps returning a "0" value, instead of the correct number. I am thinking it's probably because the file from which it is copied is very large and because the operation barely takes a second, it doesn't allow it enough time for the formula int he cell that is being copied to calculate the value.
I have a data sheet and I usually copy manually the values from different columns. I would like to paste them into another worksheet so that when I paste the values in Column A, I should not surpass Row100, and if so then the code should automatically shift to column B and start pasting. This should apply to all the columns till column F. Once column F is full till row100 then the procedure should start again from column A.
I am looking to create some vba code that looks for a specific value in column 'm' (Z-AUD) for example and where it occurs within my data range copies and pastes the values in columns O,P and Q in to columns K,L and M.
I have two worksheets to combine. One of them have list of student numbers and their names, and the other has student number and their grades. I have to make another sheet that shows their name matched with each of their grades(grades are organized by date)
My thought process in this is to match the student numbers in two sheets, then combine name and grades and paste to another sheet.
I'm trying to use a macro that will copy & paste values from one workbook to another. Everything works fine until I try to get it to Paste to next available row.
It worked the first time, but after that it jumps, several hundred rows at a time.
I have a workbook with 2 sheets. Both the sheet contains Column "Name,Avg,Max". Compare both the sheets and paste the Avg values in Sheet3(Avg) and Sheet4(Max). I have attached the sample file below.
I think I have a very straight forward problem, I'm copying about 400 values from one workbook to another (from vertical range to horizontal range) and I currently have about 400 lines of code in order to do this. Below I've pasted the code I'm using now but the macro takes an estimated 30 seconds to run. I figure if I can reduce the number of lines the macro will run a lot faster
RowCount = openWb.Sheets("Library Raw Shear Rates").Range("A3").CurrentRegion.Rows.Count With openWb.Sheets("Library Raw Shear Rates").Range("A3")
I have written a short VBA code to create a Paste Special values keyboard shortcut.
Is there a way or a place that I can put this code so that every time I open any workbook in Excel, or open Excel itself that this VBA code will be active and I can use the keyboard shortcut?
I have a filtered worksheet -WB1 (filtered by Column "B"). I want to count the number of cells or rows in column "B"(Only the filtered ones) of WB1. Copy out that exact number of cells from another workbook(WB2) from the bottom moving up(Column "A") and paste it into WB1 column "I".
WB1 - Count Filtered Cell/Row with reference to Column "B" WB2 - copy Cell count bottom to top of Column "A" WB1 - Paste into Column "I"
Copy over data from different workbooks and using paste special values to paste it into a new workbook using a macro. Here is what I have and what I am looking for:
My file path is
C:Documents and SettingsMy DocumentsProjectCostsDecember12
I also have a workbook called DecMonthlyTotal in the same folder with the same named worksheets.
I am looking for a macro to be placed in the DecMonthlyTotal that will pull the data from the Cashable12-13 worksheets from Function1, Function2 and Function3 and paste special the values into workbook DecMonthlyTotal, worksheet name Cashable12-13, it will also pull the data from the NonCashable12-13 worksheets from Function1, Function2 and Function3 and paste special the values into workbook DecMonthlyTotal, worksheet name NonCashable12-13
Both the Cashable12-13 and the NonCashable12-13 have Columns A - G The row that the macro should start the copying from is Row 3 for each of the workbooks; however I don't have an end row for the workbooks as this will vary.
I am successfully opening a .csv file using a variable value stored in a named range in my Main file (the variable includes the directory and path). I copy data from the .csv file to the Main file then I need to close the .csv file without saving but I want to do that by using the
Windows("xxxx").Activate
command where "xxxx" is the namedrange in my Main file which stores the .csv filename (without the directory and path prefix).
I can use the
ActiveWindow.ActivatePrevious
command but if I have another workbook open, this one closes instead of the .csv file I opened from the macro.
I realise this is probably very basic and I've searched the forums but can't find any identical postings.
I want the code to run when we open excel workbook "TEST" and it should open up all the workbooks one by one in the folder J:ABC and copy cells C2 and C4 values in the A and B columns of TEST workbook.
e.g There are 5 workbooks in the folder J:ABC so when the TEST workbook is opened then the code should run and open 1st workbook and copy values in cells C2 and C4 to it and close the workbook.
The code should run as below:
1st workbook:
C2 value will go in Test workbook B1 C4 value will go in Test workbook A1
Close 1st workbook
2nd workbook:
C2 value will go in Test workbook B2 C4 value will go in Test workbook A2
close 2nd workbook.
3rd workbook:
C2 value will go in Test workbook B3 C4 value will go in Test workbook A3
close 3rd workbook.
and so on It will be going to next rows in A and B columns.
I have a little bit of problem with lookup function. When i paste values from another worksheet (paste special, values) in a cell which is lookup value i get #N/A. These values are numbers. When i put '7 for example i get the values i want from lookup table. I have a lot of these cells and its tedious job to put ' in front of every value. Is there a quicker solution?
I’ve got a folder on drive C named “Customer Sheets”. In this folder at any time there could be over 500 individual customer sheets. i also have a "Summary Workbook" on drive C
What I need is a macro in my "Summary Workbook" that copies cells (“B3, B6, B12, B13, G5, G6”) form every customer sheet in my “Customers Sheets” folder and paste it into my “Summary Workbook” onto sheet2, every customer in a new row.
The “Summary Workbook” should run this macro every time it is opened or on my command so that the database is continually refreshed when a new customer sheet is made.
I use excel 2002 but some of my office are on 97, i want to add a small workbook open event code which works for me but debugs for the others?? The code is basically, go to a tab, on that tab and that range sort..
Attached is my code, pay attention to the bold part. I want the sourceSheet to be copied as a sheet and pasted in the targetSheet (the Sheet2 of "NewBook") but I want it pasted asvalues. Here is the specific part which needs to be looked at...and below is the full code.
VB: Set sourceBook = Application.Workbooks.Open(sourceFilename) Set sourceSheet = sourceBook.Sheets("Current") Set targetSheet = NewBook.Sheets("Sheet2")
Paste can this be set to default to Paste Special Values only ?
I have a sheet with a number of lists validated drop down boxes. The sheet is networked and works fine.
Problem other users as they are entering information into the required cells they are copying and pasting. Then the inevitable occurs they paste data into the wrong cells the validation from the original cell is pasted as well. Is there a way I can set paste special values only to be the default for the full sheet.
I've been doing various searches for past few hours and can't seem to find out if one its even possible, the closet I've found on here is to copy row to another workbook.
My question is I have one excel book called level1.xls and another excel book level2.xls, now in level1.xls I have a row of fields filled in and in level2.xls I have a blank form which for example I would like to try programme in VBA from the level2.xls file to click a button and open automatically level1.xls then grab field "A2" value from level1.xls and place it in level2.xls field "L4" then continue using level1.xls "B2" to level2.xls in field "C3" and then continue down when I add more values A3, A4 so on in level1.xls to the same field in level2.xls L4. Steve.
I am having a bit of a problem creating a formula for this report that I have to update every week. I need to be able to find the room nights and net room revenue values for the specific rate code in the "MATRIX" workbook.
On "CURRENT REPORT," I need D4 to pull up the value on "MATRIX" that equals "Room Nights" in column H and "CONABC" in column J. The same thing needs to happen for F4 but with "Net Room Revenue" in column H. The full report has about 500 of these codes in column J, and I need a formula that I can copy easily and will not be affected if codes are added or removed. This is super last minute - I need to finish this report by tomorrow morning, so take a look at the attachments.
My company has files that are already in use. I don't know too many details about how they work, but somehow saving the file will screw it up and my boss has to go back and reset something or other to correct it. Obviously it's connected to some other software somewhere. The code below will block Save and Save-As. BUT how do I get the file to hold onto the code without actually saving the file after the code is added (since the file shouldn't be saved)?
VB: Private Sub Workbook_BeforeSave(ByVal SaveAsUI As Boolean, Cancel As Boolean) If SaveAsUI = False Then Cancel = True
I have two workbooks: master and student. I have one spreadsheet in each workbook. Both workbooks contains data in the same range.
master.xls data = B1:B10 (values are integers) student.xls data = B1:B10 (values are integers)
I want to know how to update(add) the values in master.xls with the values in a closed workbook(student.xls). Basically if master("B3") = 5 and student("B3") = 1, it will update the value in master("B3") = 6.
