I have a problem where i am just trying to do a simple copy of dates from one spreadsheet to another
18/03/2008 00:00 however when the its copied to the other spreassheet is changes to the US date formate 3/18/2008 0:00 I need to keep the format as date as the date needs to be the current day. How do i get this to remain UK
I have a userform which is used to update a spreadsheet.
There are 7 textboxes which add dates to the spreadsheet. These dates are then used in formulas.
Every time a record is saved the date format changes.
Ths means that if the date is entered dd/mm/yyyy it writes mm/dd/yyyy and this is fine. When this record is next retrieved it will show mm/dd/yyyy and any new date will be dd/mm/yyyy.
Wen saved to the spreadsheet both formats change meaning the dates in the spreadsheet appear in diffrent formats messing up all formulas.
How can I stop the date format changing each time the record is saved?
I have created a standard input box for the date (UK)
datereceived = InputBox("Please enter the DATE the text message was received, please enter in format DD/MM/YY", , Date)
Sheet1. Range("e" & x).Value = datereceived
I have formatted the cells for row 'E' for 'Date' and DD/MM/YYYY in English UK, But when I have inputted the date into the input box ( e.g. 01/05/2008 ), it inputs into the spreadsheet 05/01/2008 (American Obviously),
An in-house server spits out a whole lot of dates which I put into Excel and then use the dates for analysis (VBA code). The problem is that Excel is getting confused about the date formats. Sometimes the dates are formatted as dd/mm/yyyy and then the next line can randomly be mm/dd/yyyy. This totally messes up all changes of having data integrity.
View 5 Replies View Relatedthere are a multitude of issues with US date formats when you're not in the US but I've run across one that I can't figure out.
I have a source table that has approx 5000 lines on it, everything looks correct and all the dates are in the correct (Australian) format. However when I use it to make a pivot table, any dates that are before the 12/m/yyyy gets changed to the mmddyyyy format in the pivot table only, all the source dates are still correct.
I have an existing macro which I am enhancing and I would like to have the user provide a date, either with a popup text box in a userform and then use a command button to hit OK and have the box dissapear, or in a calender which the date is selectable, and the date supplied go into a variable.

We have an excel file which is made every thursday for comparison purposes etc. I've made an macro (excel 2003) which - on start - asks via an inputbox for the extension in date format for saving purposes. Later on, the macro will search for the same file but from last week to open it and copy/paste a 'comments' column into this new one. All went well, everybody happy. However it may be well possible that file is made and saved but with an extra extension: example:
dir to save = C:file
file when starts runs inputbox "Please enter a date (e.g. 2008-06-20)"
The macro records this string as mydate:
Sub Start()
Dim AnyString
Dim MyStr
Dim DirString
Dim mynum 'As String
Dim resp As Long
Dim get_mynum
Dim mydate
'Define extension for the file name to be saved and the correct path (dir) where this file will be stored.
get_mynum:
mynum = Application.InputBox("Enter the filename's extension to save in yyyy-mm-dd (e.g. 2008-06-30)", vbOKCancel)
If mynum = False Then
msgbox ("You do not want to continue? Ok, programm stopped")
Exit Sub
ElseIf mynum = "" Then..............
It show error, how to correct it .
[Code] ......
I have a VBA code that works really well but i wondering if there is a way to do the same thing but without the message box and just enter in the dates instead.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI made a selection and coloring macro, the filter is based on the inputbox that pops up. What I would like to do here is, that when the box pops up it would have a written date in it, which is the today always. And the filter should select all which is 2 weeks later than current date.
Code:
Sub kethet()
Dim datum As Long
Dim most As String
LRow = Range("E" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row

I want to be able to validate the data input into an input box. It must be in the following format
Jun-07
First three letters of the month, a dash then the last two numbers of the year.
I have the inputbox so i can set a string value,
When the inputbox Cancle button is pressed i want to exit sub,
If the inputbox value is nothink and ok button, I want the msgbox displayed then goto newname.
If the inputbox has a value do >>>>>>That>>>>>
I was wanting to input the date Before Printing. I want to write some code.
Private Sub Workbook Before_Print (cancel as booleen)
Inputbox = "Enter the date you would like in Mondays cell C4"
Application.Worksheet.Range("C4").Value = InputBox.Value
PrintDialogBox.Show
End Sub
I know I am making a very rough attempt at what I am trying to achieve, I just don't know coding that well.
I am writing a module which have a different test based on for each of the previous 2 column cells. It calculate the days passed or in simple way calculate the date difference for the 2 columns and puts them in third. But i need to use a inputbox for entering the first date for monday of the month each time i use the worksheet.
When i try using the module for each cell of the column it display the input box for each cell. is there any way so that i just enter the value in input box and it can be used in rest of the module.Without using it again and again.
Need a code using application.inputbox to get a range, then use that range to copy and paste the range's link and format to a different sheet? The specifics don't matter, I just can't figure out the syntax. Here is what I have currently:

View 9 Replies View RelatedI get sent a spreadsheet by one of our partners where the dates look like they are in European date format except thay are actually in American format.
example
01/09/2007 - they mean 9th January 2007 but Excel holds 39326 which is 1st Sept 2007.
I can obviously format them but when I sort the list Excel still reads 1st Sept instead of 9th Jan
There are over a thousand entries so re-typing isn't an option.
I have a table of data (total 142 rows). Column contains dates, in the format dd-mmm-yyyy.
I tried to filter using DATE FILTERS->EQUALS and in the custom filter window, I chose EQUALS then picked a date from the date picker icon. The date I picked was 5/4/2009 (this is May 4, 2009, formatted automaticall by excel as m/d/yyyy).
When I clicked OK, nothing showed up despite the fact that there are 6 occurences of May 4, 2009 (formatted as dd-mmm-yyyy in the data table)
So my questions are:
1. Is this due to the formatting?
2. Is there a way to change the date format supplied by the date picker?
I have created a userform but I am having extensive problems with the date formats.
My system is set to UK and short date is set to: DD/MM/YYYY
When I used code to add the values in the userform to the spreadsheet, any that contained a date format would revert to the US format.
So I finally figured out to use DateValue to format it correctly for example: ...
One of the reports I run provides me information on lengths of time. Such a field displays as |0:09:16| indicating 9 minutes and 16 seconds. However, when the report generates the excel spreadsheet it saves these cells in date/time format ([h]:mm:ss). If I were to convert this field to the number format (so I can manipulate and graph it) it displays as such |0.00643460648148148| Ideally I would be able to have the data in the field stored as |556| (556 seconds, or 9 minutes 16 seconds). I have thousands of fields that I need to manipulate where the data is stored in this format and I can not figure out how to fix it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedEvery month, I have an import a report to a spreadsheet. At my column A, it supposed to be a date format.
For some reasons, I have a combination of a few cells of date format and a few cells of general format with no order at all.
What I need is: Search in the A column, if date format leave it , if not change from general to date format.
I have an Excel 2010 spreadsheet where the default number format keeps switching to the date format. I keep switching it back and it'll stay as a number format for a time, but then it'll switch back. This is also the case for any new worksheets in that one spreadsheet.
This only happens with this one file - everything else behaves according to my regional settings or to how the file had been previously formatted.
I have two columns where there are dates (e.g. 11/05/2009) in a date format; I would like to change the format to `general`; but without losing the original values, i.e. I still want to see 11/05/2009, but just in `general`format. Is it possible to create a macro that will do that? I want these values to stay in the same place, i.e. if it is in cell K10, I still want to have it there - just in other format.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a some dates in a format which are not being converted into the normal date format. So i made this formula to convert it into the normal date format:
=IF(LEN(B218)=10,(MID(B218,4,2)&"/"&LEFT(B218,2)&"/"&RIGHT(B218,4))+0,IF(LEN(B218)=9,(MID(B218,3,2)&"/"&LEFT(B218,1)&"/"&RIGHT(B218,4))+0,IF(LEN(B218)=8,(MID(B218,3,1)&"/"&LEFT(B218,1)&"/"&RIGHT(B218,4))+0,"")))
Formula is working fine except on this type of date "9/9/2013"..i also tried an OR formula with mid but didnt get the desired result. These are the type of dates:
12/10/2013
12/9/2013
9/11/2013
9/9/2013
7/25/2013
I have an excel sheet full of dates in text format and want to convert them into regular format. For instance, one of the dates listed is in text as "60801". I'd like it to show in regular date format of mm/dd/yyyy, so that 60801 becomes 8/1/2006.
I have a long list of dates that are fomatted as 3-12-13 that I want to format under custom date as d-mmm-yy : 12-Mar-13. I tried to do this but it does not change. I tried to change it to a number and that didn't work either.

In D2 I have: =B2
In D3 I have manually input: (space)3-08
As you can see the CONCATENATE puts the "39569" date in A2 But the second line puts the text date as I prefer. What I would like to do is put in a formula or macro in D2 and down that will change the "Mar-08" to "3-08" so it CONCATENATEs correctly to column A. Simply: I'm trying to avoid manually inputing the text version "3-08" (or whatever M-Y) into D2 down a hundred or so rows!
