Collect Date & Output To Cell In Needed Format
May 2, 2008
I have created a standard input box for the date (UK)
datereceived = InputBox("Please enter the DATE the text message was received, please enter in format DD/MM/YY", , Date)
Sheet1. Range("e" & x).Value = datereceived
I have formatted the cells for row 'E' for 'Date' and DD/MM/YYYY in English UK, But when I have inputted the date into the input box ( e.g. 01/05/2008 ), it inputs into the spreadsheet 05/01/2008 (American Obviously),

I'm creating a workbook with the ultimate aim of graphing some data between any two dates. For this I plan to use the ComboBoxes on the Control Toolbox. Each ComboBox takes its range of data from a list of dates, with the cells set as Date format (custom as dd-mmm-yy), however when I select a date in the dropdown of the ComboBox, it is shown in number format, i.e. 38723 etc.
When I ask the ComboBox to put the output in another cell, it is input in text format as that number. Changing the output cell type does work, but once you select a new date in the dropdown, it reverts to text once again. how to set the ComboBox to display dd-mmm-yy format and it's output to be the same?

Excel 2010, I have the following list (showing part of it):
Name
T-Shirt Sizes
Nathan
S
[Code]....
The aim of the list is to see what Sizes each and every person needs and then count how many T-Shirts are required for that particular size. The list is over a 100 entries long so counting it manually isn't really an option as it's time consuming as well as errors might arise.
Thus, I've been trying to use the IF statement with the following logic but to as no avail
IF Size in Column is XS
Add 1 to a particular Cell
IF Size in Colum is S
Add 1 to a particular Different Cell
and so on for the other sizes...kind of like a counter for a for-do-loop.

I have an existing macro which I am enhancing and I would like to have the user provide a date, either with a popup text box in a userform and then use a command button to hit OK and have the box dissapear, or in a calender which the date is selectable, and the date supplied go into a variable.

We have an excel file which is made every thursday for comparison purposes etc. I've made an macro (excel 2003) which - on start - asks via an inputbox for the extension in date format for saving purposes. Later on, the macro will search for the same file but from last week to open it and copy/paste a 'comments' column into this new one. All went well, everybody happy. However it may be well possible that file is made and saved but with an extra extension: example:
dir to save = C:file
file when starts runs inputbox "Please enter a date (e.g. 2008-06-20)"
The macro records this string as mydate:
Sub Start()
Dim AnyString
Dim MyStr
Dim DirString
Dim mynum 'As String
Dim resp As Long
Dim get_mynum
Dim mydate
'Define extension for the file name to be saved and the correct path (dir) where this file will be stored.
get_mynum:
mynum = Application.InputBox("Enter the filename's extension to save in yyyy-mm-dd (e.g. 2008-06-30)", vbOKCancel)
If mynum = False Then
msgbox ("You do not want to continue? Ok, programm stopped")
Exit Sub
ElseIf mynum = "" Then..............

I need to create formulas that reference a single date and output date ranges. The objective is to have a person input a Monday date in any given month and receive a four weeks out worth of dates and ranges. For example: In a lone cell, the person inputs 10/13/08. Automatically, the sheet produces the next full week range: October 19 – October 25 in a single cell and also produces a cell for each date. Example: Sunday 19, Monday 20, Tuesday 21, etc…. It should look like:
Monday Date:
10/13/08
October 19 – October 25
Sunday 19
Monday 20
Tuesday 21
Wednesday 22
Thursday 23
Friday 24
Saturday 25
and then repeat for three more weeks. I thought I had it figured out until the month changed. The dates continued in October instead of adding a month. This report will be ran weekly, so simply adding a +1MONTH to some cells will not benefit me as I’ll have to change the formula every week. I want the formula to compute the data without any manipulation over the next several years. The only change will be the Monday date.

I have a column in excel which gets populated in the format "2/1/1980" when copied from a different source. I want a macro to run on this column and convert this in the below format. Required format: '02-01-80 (note the ' symbol before 02 which will keep it as text)
Existing ----> Required
2/1/1980 --> '02-01-80
2/1/1970 --> '02-01-70
2/1/1983 --> '02-01-83
I need this macro to run on two columns and replace them with the required format. I can do a find and replace either in the sheet or through hard coding the VBA, but as the date format keeps growing, I would need to do this via code and hence requesting the same.

I am making a user form in Excel 2007 and for some reason where I am using textboxes for a user to enter numeric values the output on the spreadsheet has a general format which is causing an IF function to return an incorrect value. Is there a way to make sure the output from the form is in "numeric" format?

After organizing my data I now need to export to a simple txt file. But I need to control to final format better then the simple "save as" allows. What I need is a simple list of in a single column, separated by a carriage return. I am working with a "small" list of addresses, and by small I mean 27,188.
Every format I try ends up with quotation marks and a strange box like symbol. What I have is a full name and 2 line address per field in .xlsx format. I also have the data separated into fields by line.
Is there any way to better control the output when exporting to a .txt file?

I have been struggling with my Excel 07 Date format. Nearly every time I perform a calculation, enter in a value etc in a spreadsheet my answer is returned as a date. So for example if I enter in a cell: = 5 - 4. I get the answer "1-Jan-1900" instead of 1. I have to manually set the formats to general or number if I want the correct format. The setting seems to be the default one and occurs for all workbooks I open. What can I do to change this.

I'm trying to make a spreadsheet that looks up values for a number of individuals and if they meet certain criteria they are collected in a box.
It is for a class of children's test results. I would like to be able to write the results each child got across the page (names at side, headings across top). If a child gets, say, level 2a in his test, his name appears in a cell elsewhere. I can do this with an 'IF' statement... Thing is I want to collect all the children who got that level in the other cell. The cell might end up with 10 or 12 names in it as a result of their scores being looked up. I would have cells for all of the levels, so the children can be automatically grouped together by attainment.

I am trying to get a MsgBox to appear if the cell value within a given range exceeds a certain number value in my case "8". The only issue I am experiencing is that the code seems to take into account any input from any cell, not just the range specified, and additionally since there are 7 columns in the range the MSgBox pops up 7 times, and I need it only once and if the cell value exceeds "8" only when input.
ideally i would like to do a named range as there as there is a block of data where this will need to repeat.
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
Dim cell As Range
With ActiveSheet
For Each cell In Range("J40:P40")
If cell.Value [A35].Value Then
MsgBox "Red Cell cannot exceed 8 hours per shift. Please correct this."
End If
Else
End If
Next
End With
End Sub

Dates:
------
November 1, 2008
1 novembre 2008
In the formula bar, these formated dates appear as 11/1/2008.
What I need to do is copy the formated dates and paste them into another column so that they show up as November 1, 2008 or 1 novembre 2008 and not as 11/1/2008.
Does anyone know of a non-macro formula or function that can do this? Is there a "paste as is" function?

I'm trying to concatenate quite a few cells together. One of the items being included in the concatenation is a date, however when I do this the output is the numerical version of the date that Excel uses to mathematically calculate with. My question is how do I do a cell concatenation with the desired output showing the date, not the numerical equivalent used by Excel? Book1.xls attached is what I'm talking about.

I'm having where basically I've got the below scenario on a spreadsheet:
Start Date - 14/03/2013 (Cell A2)
I want to look up this date against a 52 week structure to see where it is in our "working calendar year". I've got a table which has the following fields:
Week Start (Cell E2) - E.G 11/03/2013
Week End - (Cell F2) - E.G 18/03/2013
Week Title - (Cell G2) - Week 1
This table follows the same format for all 52 weeks.
Now in this example "Start Date" falls between the "Week Start" and "Week End" date so I want to output Week 1 in cell B2. However I could have a "Start Date" of 29/03/2013 that falls in week 3 of the working calendar.

I am facing a problem with number formats. I have downloaded some data from a database. In the data, there are some date columns in MM/DD/YYYY format. In a seperate workbook, I have copied that data as values.
Now when I am trying to change the formats of the dates to d-mmm-yy, they don't change. The formats are not not changing to any other format. I even tried changing the formats using VBA, but it did not work.

What I have done is create a macro in Excel and then opened up the VBA editor to make a lot of changes to the initial macro. I am reformatting a whole lot of separate spreadsheets over many workbooks.
Here is the code that is generating the error (Run-Time error '438', Object doesn't support this property or method):
Code:
Range("E2").Select
Selection.Format = "long date"
With Selection
.Font.Size = 11
' .Format = LongDate
.HorizontalAlignment = xlCenter
.VerticalAlignment = xlCenter
End With
As you can see, I first tried the ".Format = LongDate" and did put LongDate in "" which did not work, then I tried the "Selection.Format = ..." after the "Range" statement, and that did not work either. So you will actually know, I am trying to set the format for the cell "E2" to a Long Date format.

I have a problem when i try to format a cell. i download data from a website and it gives me the date and time in the first column, ex. 1/1/2009 5:00:00 pm. when i format the cell to date, the time is erased and the date remains which is what i want, ex. 1/1/2009. however, when i click on that cell or any other in that column, the display above, or "insert function" line still show the contents of the cell with the date and the time, ex. 1/1/2009 5:00:00 pm. is there any way i can change that so the time is erased and only the date remains, ex. 1/1/2009 when i click on the cell?

I am pulling reports out of a non-windows based program. This program spits out the data directly into an Excel spreadsheet, with but a click of a button. I imagine that the designers of this program assumed that this would be useful, but it's actually proving to be quite irritating.
The Date format they have chosen for their program is NOT the date format that Excel uses, but it resembles it enough to cause serious problems. The original program tracks dates in a "dd/mm/yy" format, rather then Excel's "mm/dd/yy". To my VAST personal irritation Excel does NOT convert this into Text (which could be
manipulated by snipping it into the correct format) but instead converts it into it's own Date format, leaving me with a useless and incorrect serial number as the only data.
I cannot interact with the exporting process at all, and as the program exports DIRECTLY into Excel I cannot manipulate the data prior to import (which would be one relatively easy way of avoiding this problem). I am left trying to figure out a way to reconstruct an actual date out of this mess. Is there any way to convert a date serial number BACK into text?
