Color Formatting Boolean Cells
Jun 24, 2009I have cells in my Excel sheet that contains boolean values, ie. the values TRUE or FALSE. Is it possible to format these cells so that FALSE is written with red color?

Color Formatting Cells Using VB6
Apr 10, 2007I want my VB6 app to conditionally color some cells. How can I turn a cell red if the value is below zero and green if zero or above?
I want to use a dynamic formatting rather than hard code the color since the values will be edited in the spreadsheet.
Can I do this as a range? e.g. A2:A500

Dec 11, 2013I have a column that when I put info in it gives me a colour, now on this I have quit a few different labels, eg. AAG201, PRA001, 000010 and so on, now on my rule I have put in that if it is PRA* ,AAG* to be one colour and 0000* to be a colour. (this is working without a problem).
I have tried to get the rest of the row to be the same colour, but cannot get te rules to work, I do not know which rule to use to get this working.

Apr 4, 2007I have conditional formatting set to paint the cells a certain color if the values are >0 and a diff. color if they are <0. If i enter the value manually everything is fine but if a use a formula to do the calculation there is no formatting.

If ther eis no X in the cell I have indicated, nothing needs to happen.

The first is setup for alternate row coloring with this formula inside Conditional Formatting:
Formula is = MOD(ROW(),2)
My Second Condition is
Cell Value is between $P$10 and $Q$10. This sets the font bold and a different color. The two cell values are two dates. I want to change the cells font color and bolding as long as the value is within that date range. It works fine, but for cells that are on the row that is colored the second condition doesn't apply for some reason.

Color Column Charts Based On Font Color Data Cells
Oct 27, 2009I have attached the relevant spreadsheet for which I need to alter the color of the columns based on Site number ( Sheet 1). % Mortality will be represented in the Y-Axis, and the Site numbers would be on the X-Axis. All columns (% Mortality) except one will be of the same color, and the one of a different color will indicate a specific site. As an example, site 86 is colored differently. The way I require the chart to look is shown on Sheet 1.
After reading through some great posts on Ozgrid, I managed to do this using conditional formatting (Sheet 2), but that sort of falls short because I am required to add a data table to the chart, and the parameter that is indicated by the column bars happens to appear twice in the data table.
I was wondering if this can be automated maybe using VBA, but with the possibility of simply matching the color of columns with the font color of respective entry in the data series.

On the clicking of a button, Select and shade in a cell yellow, delete the yellow shading of the previous cell. The shading & selection should move up a column of cells, 1 at a time, in the following order:
From B10 to B9, then B9 to B8, B8 to B7 etc until the selection and shading is at B2. Once it is at B2 subsequent clicks will simply keep it at B2 (the top). Thus after 8 clicks the shading & selection should travel from B10 to B2, with only 1 cell being shaded yellow and selected at any one time.
Macro To Color Cells Based On Their Font Color
Jun 18, 2008I have a spreadsheet that i download from the net daily, which is seperated into columns of information.
I want to be able to look down a column and mark a cell in a seperate column if the cell font text is red.
For example looking down column A ... if the font text of a1 is red then mark the cell background colour of T1 red - if a2 text colour is red then mark the cell T2 red .... etc etc.
If the font colour in a1 or a2 ... etc etc is any other colour then do nothing.
I have 5 columns I wish to look down and mark in 5 seperate columns - I have tried to do this by conditional formating but don't know the fomula for checking font colour.

Aug 13, 2006Is it possible to take the color generated from conditional formatting in a cell on sheet_1 and have that color value be painted or transferred into a cell on another (sheet_2) without writing VBA/macro code?
For example:
Cell B32 on Sheet_1 has conditional formatting that when TRUE turns the background cell color to GREEN. I also have it formatted to turn RED when another condition is TRUE. I want cell C1 on Sheet_2 to call whatever color value is in Sheet_1!B32 and show it on the other page.
Boolean Value For Each Worksheet
Jun 15, 2008I have a timecard spreadsheet which im working on, each employee is represented by a single worksheet in the workbook, and the worksheet is named after the employees name. New employees are added by filling in a form which dynamically creates the timecard based on a template. Im trying to impliment a 'Fire Employee' button which sits on each employees sheet and can be clicked to set an employees working status to false by changing a boolean variable called 'fired' to true.
Ive been looking around the forum but I cant figure out if i should be using public variables or where exactly i should be placing them, so that each employees 'fired' status is set to false when the worksheet is first created, but can be set to true when the 'Fire Employee' button is clicked, this must only set true for that specific employee, and not all employees. If your wondering why i need this, the employees work status will be used on other forms to toggle views etc so thats why a boolean approach is best (at least i think it is if its not to difficult to do)

The manager takes the sheets from 30+ individuals and copies all into a single workbook that is then distributed to a very large audience and reviewed weekly. In this workbook, I have created drop downs with conditional formatting - Low = Green, Medium = Yellow, Critical = Red. On the original workbook, this formatting works great, however, after the manager consolidates and redistributes all worksheets the Green shows Gray, Yellow is OK and Red shows Black.

C2=60 (Reference Cell)
C3=5 (Reference Cell)
Conditional Format Settings
If C3 >= C2/12 then pattern set to Green
If C3 < C2/12 then pattern set to Red
Here is the problem - when you have a value in C3, everything is fine, it's either green or red. If C3 is blank, it defaults to green because the conditional format is true.
Is there anyway to add something in there to have no color when C3 is not populated?

VB Color Formatting More Than 4 Cell Conditions
Jun 25, 2009The code below turns numbers and dates on my worksheets(1) to text priorities on my worksheets(3), I now need to color the cell backgrounds of the results on worksheets(3). With formulas I know I can conditional format up to 3 colors (or 4 utilising the background) but I am after 6. I also know that you will look at my code and laugh as I should have done the color coding with the initial commands, but I struggled with it for 2 days and simply couldn't get it to work.
In the VB below it all works off a command button and up to the third color it works however it then gets stuck and throws up a runtime error '1004' Application defined or object defined error. I did get around this before by recording macros and effectively sticking them together but it hasn't worked on this occasion...... any ideas??? (I hope I'm not breaking any rules by pasting the code directly in?)

May 25, 2007I'm trying to make a tracking sheet of upcoming annual inspections for different pieces of equipment. I've already got a column set up listing the inspection due date. Using three conditional formats, the individual cells change color based on the amount of time until the inspection is due (green normally, yellow at 30 days out, red past due).
What I'd like to do is have the entire row of information change color based on the color of the cell the inpection due date is listed in. For ex. J6 lists the inspection date as 24-Feb-07 and is therefore red, I'd like A6-I6 and K6-P6 to change to red as well. And when the inspection is compleate and I manually change J6 to say 25-May-07, I'd like all of row 6 to change green based on the fact that J6 is already going to.
Override Conditional Formatting Color
Jun 24, 2008Currently I have used all 3 conditional formats to colour certain cells.
1) Colour whole row 'green' when 'complete' colum ="Y"
2) Colour todays date column black in the date table to easily define todays activities.
3) By entering start and end dates that contractors are required, I colour these selected dates in blue with a letter 'x' in the calendar area.
This can easily be seen from the sample sheet above. If you can adapt this for yourselves carry on.
I am also using a macro (found in these forums) to automatically change the colour of the contractors tab to certain colours when selected from the drop down selection box (enabling more than just 3 conditional formats)
What I would like to happen though, is that when item 3 above is performed (select a start and end date) the filled blocks, colour the same as the contractor colour, instead of the blue with the 'x'.
