Command Button (submit) Spreadsheet Level

Jun 2, 2009

I have made a userform with some code in it that I would like to be on the spreadsheet itself instead of a user form? How is this done? The problem is getting the below code to work at spreadsheet level since I did not write the code below. I have the button the spreadsheet, but I don't know how to see the name of the button or assign the below command to the button.

I need a macro to copy data from the two combo boxes that appear on the spreadsheet and place the data into cell A for the first combo box and cell B for the second combo box.

Submit Button To Transfer Data From One Spreadsheet Into Another?

Mar 13, 2013

I want a Macro that I would like to assign it to Control Button on Spreadsheet 1. When the user clicks on this Button only "Selected data" i.e. Cells A3, B4, C5, E5 will be transferred to Spreadsheet 2. The data transferred into Spreadsheet 2 should be inserted in the first available row and hence not override other data. Also, I have a question, both files will be sitting on the same shared network path however, for the update to happen to we need to have both files opened at the same time? If yes can we design something to update Spreadsheet 2 without having it opened?

Adding A Command Button To Each Row Of A Spreadsheet

Feb 23, 2007

I have built a Form which displays data from a spreadsheet. The user opens the form by clicking on a command button from the spreadsheet. The Form initially opens with the data from Row 4 of the spreadsheet (because this is the first row of the spreadsheet which contains the data for the form). The user can then sequentially access other rows in the spreadsheet by clicking on buttons in the Form which advance the extraction by one row.

I would like to add a command button to each row of the spreadsheet that would open up the Form and set the values in the Form to the same row which the command sits on.

Can I Add A Submit Button To Worksheet

Apr 25, 2007

I'm working on an order form in excel and wondered if someone can tell me if it's possible to add a 'submit button' to a worksheet (order) that would do the following,

1.) print 3 copies (orders) of the current sheet

2.) create a new worksheet in the same workbook with a new order number (a specific cell in the worksheet) one higher than the current one. Also naming the new worksheet with the new order number.

3.) Save the current workbook.

Maybe I'm getting a little ahead of myself here but any help would be much appreciated as I'm really rusty at this...

Submit Button Next Blank Line

Sep 26, 2009

I have the following code that works just fine half of what I need it to do. The line that adds the text in column A functions correctly but the code for column B fails because column B is empty by default. The goal is to have the information in column B on the same row as column A. As well as adding two more cells on the same row as column A. The two new columns would be E and G and should be in the same row as the information from Column A. with formulas copied from e2 and g2.

Data Validation Conflict After Submit Button - VBA

Feb 10, 2014

I have a simple form built, but the data validation is only partially working. I've attached a sample workbook.

basically, when a user tries to put in a letter in the GP interaction field rather than a number, it prompts user to re-enter. This part is working, except when the submit button has been clicked, the field clears. the field clears, it prompts the user to re-enter.

Macro Needed For Email/submit Button

Jan 13, 2009

I've got this macro I pulled from some other site and it's not working quite like it should. In my eyes at least...

OK, first, a little back story...
At work we used to have a custom Outlook form that was used for submitting office supply order requests.
The form was stored on our public drive for all to access it when needed.
Well, the form broke somehow and no one knows how to fix it.
We need something to replace it.
Keep in mind that we have no access to the Internet, nor can we send/receive emails outside of the company.

So, I created a simple form in Excel with a drop-down list of all the items in the supply cage, a form field for the senders name, etc...

What the macro does is, it copies the active worksheet the form that just got filled out) to a new workbook (dropdown data is on other sheets in the original) and then opens Outlook (2003) to send it as an attachment.

The only catch is that when the email arrives the only thing filled out is the form fields, NOT the drop downs...

The ONLY way I can get the drop downs to send with data in them is to leave the original open.

Oh, and for some reason every time I sent this while testing, it would name the attachment Book1, Book 2, Book3, and so on. I can't have that...

Here's the code I'm currently using:

Adding Submit Buttons To Transfer Data To Live Spreadsheet

Mar 18, 2014

I would like to set up a maintenance register where I would have:

worksheet 1 - a page where staff can choose a location and choose a maintenance issue and hit submit
worksheet 2 - after they have hit submit the detail will appear in designated cells in worksheet 2 (a ledger of maintenance issues). so each submit should send the info to a new line in worksheet 2.

I have a basic knowledge of Excel and have used formulas and functions before but not VBA/Macros. Any step by step through setting up the submit button and macro correctly?

I've tried to do Worksheet("Register").Range("A2").Value = Worksheet("Request").Range("A1") after installing a push button but all I get is errors.

Dynamic Sheet Level Form Button Text

Jun 19, 2007

I have a form button on a worksheet which calls a specified macro, is it possible to have the text which shows on the button, dynamic? I have created a template excel file, which the user needs to set up as they see fit. I have a separate page which is an 'admin' page where they can customize the narrative in the main template, which includes being able to change the text on form buttons on sheet 1. I have tried with this: Sheets("Approvals").Object("Button 1").Text = Sheets("Admin").Range("e14").value

This unfortuantely results in a "run time error '438' Object doesn't support this property or method". From that i would assume this function is not available, but i'm hoping someone may know a way around it??

Command Button Name / Sort By Command Button

Feb 3, 2010

How can I return name of a command button on click? I want to create some sort buttons on a sheet I will use regularly to speed things up. I thought if I could call each sort button by the column letter the button sits in I can use this in a single sub for all buttons

e.g the button sitting in column A is called "A". when i click the button, it returns it's name to a variable which I can then use to sort column A. I know I could create a seperate routine for each button but I was just trying to think of something neater.

strButname ="But1"

Now, how would you activate the But1_Click method using strButname variable. With listboxes you can use the Control(strListboxName) methodology?

This doesn't work, but gives you an idea of what I am trying to do.

Command Button Click Creates New Rows Above Button?

Nov 8, 2012

I currently am using a form button to create new rows.

I need two different kind of buttons. I have a button that does this-

VB:
Sub InsertRow()
'this inserts a row where the button is clicked.
Dim r As Range

[Code]....

However, when I try and create these codes using a Command button (I need it for the color), I get the error

"unable to get the buttons property of the Worksheet class"

P.S one other thing, say the button is in row 3, and Cells A1 and A2 are merged, when you click the button in row 3, it should extend the merge to A3.

Toolbar Command Button As Toggle Button

Aug 13, 2008

I have read several articles saying using a command button as a toggle button can't be done but some articles have said it is possible using the state properties.

.State = msobuttondown
.State = msobuttonup

Is there any way to combine this with the onaction property so that when you press the button, it stays down and activates a macro then when you press it again it pops back up and activates another macro.

Form Button On Spreadsheet - Identifying Which Row The Button Is On

Jul 23, 2014

I am imagining a spreadsheet with the equivalent of an info button in each cell of column A. The idea is the user clicks the button to open a User Form containing additional info about the entitity represented by values on that row.

E.g., Row 1 is labels, row 2 is all about Bob, 3 is about Jane, 4 is about Freddy. If the user clicks the info button on row 3 then a user form opens up and displays additonal info about Jane.

I am wondering if there is a way for VB to identify which row the clicked button was on without having to write individual code for each button telling VB which row the button was on.

I am hoping there is some form button property I can reference or interrogate which will give me a cell address; a button.position property or similar. This will obviously save me a lot of coding if VB can dynamically determine which row is being interrogated as there will be a couple of hundred of these to start with, potentially thousands. (I realise Access is a better solution for database interrogation, but I have to work with excel at present).

Ultimately, the user form that the button calls up will have a list box on it and I want the list box to default to the entity on that row, and allow the user to browse the other entities if they want to.

If there isn't a solution for this I will just have a single info button for the users to click that opens the user form and then they can select the entity from a list box. But I would like to offer the "intelligent display" option but don't relish coding the equivalent of several hundred "You clicked button four hundred and seventy six, default to info card for bert".

Command Button

Jul 29, 2008

I have searched this topic but I came up with nothing regarding my exact situation.

I have 5 buttons on sheet 1. I want them to all direct me to another sheet in the same workbook. However, some buttons will contain more than one sheet.

Example: Button 1 will direct me to 4 different sheets. Is this possible?

Also, When I open the workbook, I see many sheets that I am working from but I do not want them to show up when I open the workbook. The only way to see these sheets is to click on the command buttons at the top of sheet 1.

How To Delete Row Using Command Button

Jul 31, 2014

I know that this may seem a little strange to request as you can just select the row and delete it, however the sheet is designed as "idiot proof", so I would like to implement this.

Basically, I have a box which states "If you need to delete a row due to incorrect entry, please type the row number here (next cell), and click delete".

I want to know if by using VBA, you can reference the number entered in the cell, and use this to determin the row in which we are required to delete.
