I have a text document disaggregated into sentences each in different cells. I need a way of selecting different cells with a mouse, and through a Macro, have the text from those cells viewed in concatenated form into new textbox generated by the Macro.
I have a worksheet entitled 'Data'. In this worksheet there is a table consisting of 4 columns plus relevant data:
TABLE 1:
Project Benefit Type Delivered or Enabled Benefit
PJ1 Financial Delivered Saving of $4M over 24 months.
[code]....
I have been trying to create a formula that will enable me to pull data from the 'benefit' column(column D) so that the cell contents populate in a single cell in a table in a different worksheet.
TABLE 2:
Financial - Delivered Financial - Enabled Tech - Delivered Tech - Enabled Green - Delivered Green - Enabled
[code]....
So, as an example, I am hoping that a formula can be created which pulls the text from relevant cells in column D when criteria from columns A, B and C are met e.g. Tech benefits that are Delivered in PJ2 would populate cell E3 ('Tech -Enabled') in Table 2 with:
I am trying to concatenate multiple strings of text where each may have composite or compound formatting. Is there any way to maintain the formatting? The Characters.Insert method won't work because the resulting string is greater than 255 characters. See an example below.
String 1: When you simply concatenate String 2: these strings, Excel discards String 3: formatting at the character level.
Required Result: When you simply concatenate these strings, Excel discards formatting at the character level.
I cant quite get this, I have 4 cells in one row (a selection and can be any row), I need to string the values together and add some simple text.
Example:
Assume row 1 and columns A, B, C, D.
496 | 6d7 | Minor | Ø.375 +/-.010
What I need this to read as one long string:
#496, 6d7, Minor, Ø.375 +/-.010
Adding the text in Red.
Column A may be a single digit or up to 10 digits in length. Once the string is configured I want to copy it and manually paste in another application. If the string is placed any where else in the worksheet for formatting, it can be deleted after the copy/paste or macro end.
I have a macro to concatenate multiple cells but unfortunately it is not giving the result,
It has to concatenate below mentioned cells and put the result in column N
Sub ConcatColumns() Do While ActiveCell "" 'Loops until the active cell is blank. 'The "&" must have a space on both sides or it will be 'treated as a variable type of long integer. Range("N1").Select ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = _ "=CONCATENATE(RC[-10],RC[-9],RC[-8],RC[-7],RC[-6],RC[-5],RC[-1])& ActiveCell.Offset(0, 0)" ActiveCell.Offset(1, 0).Select Loop End Sub
I am trying to figure out how to Concatenate a group of cells if they contain a certain text. Basically I have a list of Architects in column A and the account name in column B... and I want to say Concatenate column A, IF column B=Specific Account (ex: Coca-Cola). The list will be added to frequently so the formula must refer to the entire columns, not just a certain range.
As of right now, only the first architect associated with each account will appear. I have attached a workbook with the example..
I am trying to join text in two different cells using concatenate function / & operator In the combined cell I want the text from second cell to appear in Bold while the text from first cell should continue to remain in normal font. Is there any way i could achieve this?
I am using the below formula manually but it is taking too long. How to automate this? Is there a way to create the space and comma for as long as the list is?
What is the best way to concatenate with a semi-colon across multiple cells in excel. The one kicker is I only want to concatenate where the cell is populated.
If I write a simple Concatenate or combined columns, if a cell is blank I get the multiple.
I am looking for a way of creating the following conditioned concatenation.
I have two tables, let's call them "summary" and "detailed".
The "detailed" table is something like the following:
ID VOL
001 01
001 05
[code]....
The "summary" table below gets info from the "detailed" table. The 'ID'is now unique. I'm looking for a formula on the 'VOL (concatenated)' column cells it should get all rows from the "detailed" table with the same ID and then concatenate the 'VOL' column results, comma separated:
ID (unique) VOL (concatenated)
001 V01, V03, V05
002 V01, V04
003 V06
PS: I have people using this table with office 2003, so compatibility is necessary...
I have one row per day of the month in column A. each row has one or more cell entries in column B .... to column (variable) Right now I use a formula =concatenate(B2,CHAR(10),C2,CHAR(10),D2.....) for as long as it has to be, but this has its limits and requires a lot of editing as the number of filled cells for each row vary.
would it be possible with some macro code to manage the variable number of cells and then insert verything, wrapped text, in a single cell (can be cell Bx or a cell in a new column added next to the dates column) As soon as everything is in the single cell, the original data cells can be emtied. I can record a macro but that does not allow me to manage the variable number of cells . a small sample file attached.
Desired results obtained via IF =IF(B2>0,A2&" , ",A2)&IF(C2>0,B2&" , ",B2)&IF(D2>0,C2&" , ",C2)&IF(D2>0,D2,"")
one , two , three , four one , two , three one , two one
Is there any smarter, shorter formula via Concatenate and Substitute or other formulas ?
My closest match, but not good enaugh is =SUBSTITUTE(CONCATENATE(A2&", "&B2&", "&C2&", "&D2), ", , ", " ") [ returna 2 commad ] one, two, three, four one, two, three, one, two one ,
I've been looking on the forum for hours, but couldn't find exactly what I need.
I have a textbox that the user enters muliple lines of text. I, then, copy the text to a sheet. The problem I'm having is the pasted text is all in one cell. I would like each line to be in a different cell.
My textbox has multiline = true, wordwrap = true, EnterKeyBehavior = true.
I've created a variable number (i) of text boxes at run time (i also named them, "txt"&i, at the same time), i'm now trying to get the values entered in these to fit into a column that has been inserted during the same sub routine. I'm having a bit of trouble refering to the text boxes though, this is the patch of code i'm struggling with:
Dim TextBox As String For i = 0 To 2 * NumVar - 1 TextBox = "txt" & i ActiveCell.Offset(i, 0).Value = TextBox.Value Next i
I also tried this:
Dim TextBox As Object For i = 0 To 2 * NumVar - 1 TextBox.Name = "txt" & i ActiveCell.Offset(i, 0).Value = TextBox.Value Next i
I am designing a from with a variable number of titles. The user should be able to insert a title into a column by typing in the title that he wants into a text box, and pressing a command button that I have created ( named add). The problem arises when I try to get the text to lie vertically as opposed to horizontally (in the cell, not as a text box. If this can only be done as a textbox, let me know). Is there any way to do this?
I would typically consider myself a decent Excel user, but I haven't been able to solve this one. Maybe it's just the lack of sleep now. I am attempting to combine 4 cells into one where the last cell contains a date. Below is the formula I am using:
=B3&" "&C3&" "&D3&" "&TEXT(E3,"m/d/yy")
It works when all of the cells have values, but the only problem I am having is that some of the dates (in column E) are blank. When this cell is blank the default date that displays is "1/0/00." If I add the typical, " " at the end it says the formula has errors. The need for the TEXT(E3,"m/d/yy") for the cells that contain dates is throwing me off.
In Excel VBA Userform, how to copy the text from textbox automatically when the cursor is being moved from the textbox. And when i put CTRL+V then the copyed text has to be pasted.
Code: Private Sub cmdSearchButton_Click() Dim txtbox As String 'stores lookup value Dim x As Variant 'value for wwid txt box Dim ForeName As String Dim SurName As String Dim wwid As Variant Dim iPosition As Integer
[Code] .......
Here is my code, it does a vlookup and if the persons name is not found it will split the text entered into forename and surname but when i try and add
It actually displays &ForeName & in the text box of the next from rather than what ForeName is..
eg. John Smith -> search button -> user not found msg -> user wants to add user -> string is split into forename and surname -> forename = John , surname = Smith -> display this in the second form.
What code should i be using to do this, i thought that &ForeName & would work.
share a macro to copy cells from range C20:C300 and paste them in C2 on multiple lines. If possible two lines gap between each cell's value when they are pasted in C2.
When the Go button in text box in the 'VSVA-1 Data' tab is pressed, a new tab is created. I would like the tab to be renamed after the text that is entered into the text box. Is this possible? Here is what I have so far.
VB: Sub RenameTab() 'Renames the worksheet tab ActiveWorkbook.Sheets("VSVA-1 Data").Select tabName = TextBox1 ActiveWorkbook.Sheets("VSVA Data").Select Selection.Name = tabName End Sub
The formula below works great for counting. I need to use the same formula to CONCATENATE all of the names in B:B. It seems as though I should just replace COUNTIFS with CONCATENATE and change Data!C:C to Data!B:B, but it doesn't work. I tried a search on the web using the title of this thread but came up with very few clues. Is it even possible to CONCATENATE with multiples IFS?
In Excel 2007 I want to concatenate two columns of text. In Column A all the cells contain a single statement that I want to prefix the statements in the cells of column B (the statements in column B differ from cell to cell) I have used the formula =A1&" "&B1 and this is fine for that row, when I use the fill handle and pull it down the page the formula changes accordingly i.e.=A2&" "&B2, =A3&" "&B3 etc. But when I make the text appear using control+ I only get the concatenation of the first row repeated all the way down, irrespective of the contents of other cells in Column B.
