Conditional Formatting To Exclude Weekends?
Aug 12, 2013
I have a worksheet of each month, column for each day. If today is Monday, we want to enter data for the previous business day. In this case, it will be Friday. I would like to have Friday's date (entire column if possible) to be highlighted in white bold font with maroon fill-in. So, whoever needs to enter Friday's data would know right away when he/she opens up document which column to work on. It works Monday - Thursday but not for Friday.

I'm trying to set up a list of employees and dates in two separate columns. The date column represents the date we need to call an employee. I'd like the employee's name cell to fill "red" if the date is equal to the current date, or if it is Friday and the date is on the Saturday, Sunday or Monday upcoming, to turn red. We need to reach out to our employees before their shifts, and the office is not open on the weekends. Is there a simple way to do this?
Should I use the networksdays function on this?

I want to conditionally format the highest and lowest number in a range of numbers in a single column (Column C). The numbers in Column C are created by a formula that simply adds the data in the two cells in the same row of Columns A & B.
Numbers are entered into columns A & B daily. The column C formula has been filled into enough rows to complete the entire year. Since future days do not have numbers filled in for Columns A & B, Column C for those days results in a sum of 0.
I have set up conditional formatting for Column C so the cell of the highest number in filled in green. I want to conditionally format Column C so the cell with the lowest number is filled red, but it automatically fills all the cells for future days in Column C in red because the sum displayed there is 0.
Is there a way to exclude the 0 sum cells? The date is filled in as simple text, rather than formatted as a day. Is that the answer?

I am trying to create a schedule that includes weekdays only. Is there a formula or set-up step to do that?
Currently I have 3 columns:
Start date Action date Finish date
The Action date column has the formula: that cell (say C4) minus number of days that action requires (say 10), but when 10 days fall on a weekend, I need to change to the next work day instead.

I have been asked to create a worksheet to calculate the percentage of the utilisation of a number of loan cars per month. Each of the cars may be used on each and every day of the week but the percentage utilisation is to be calculated on working days only. However it is essential to record the name of the driver of the car at weekends and holidays. Column A is populated with the dates of the month. Colum B is populated with the relative days of the week. In column C and subsequent columns I record the name of the driver of a particular car registration. Is there any way that I can count the number of drivers of each car on working days only and not weekends or bank holidays?

I have been trying to count dates in my spreadsheet. The dates are supposed to go back in time (what they do). But I want them to jump over the weekends' dates instead of landing on them.
What I have is Start Date, Req'd Qty, Days it takes to make, Date it is required to start production (which I have a problem with).
A
1 26-Nov [Thursday]
2 1500
3 5
4 'Problem' I used for this cell that formula: =if(A2>0,A1-A3,"") , as I don't want it to show anything if there is no requirements.
It comes back with 21-Nov which is Saturday when I want it to come back with 19-Nov (Thursday) as we only have 5 working days in a week.

I'm using excel 2010 on a pc. I need to create a calender. So far I have been using the tutorial for the pop up calender. The result I'm looking for is to set up a specific time frame and have the calender provide the "due" date. I would like the due date to exclude weekends and holidays. Would I be able to do this with the pop up calender?

I have a single column of data that is, perhaps, 100 rows long.
I have ticks, crosses and 'N/A' in various cells within this column. There are no cells that are blank.
I want to count the number of ticks within the column and want to be able to say:
If the number of ticks is = 100% then it's green.
If the number is >75% and <100% then it's amber.
If the number <75% then it's red.
I also want to exclude the N/A cells from the % calculation.

A little background on what i am doing. I have a spreadsheet that tracks when i have blown the dust out of our computers. I have set up conditional formatting so that the text turns red after 300 days and the cell turns yellow after 600 days. However, some computers are in high dust environments. I would like the spreadsheet to tell me to blow the dust out of these sooner. see the attached sheet.

If AI3=D3 & D3 is red, format AI3 blue
Otherwise, leave AI3 unformatted.

Is there "code" for different formatting in a spreadsheet so you can use an IF statement to do something like:
if(A1=blue background,"Yes","No")
or
if(A1=red text,"Yes","No")
etc.?? But replace "blue background" and "red text" with some sort of number code? I want to compile a list of the items that are formatted with certain background colors and/or text colors and then organize only those items into a chart.

I have a hard time when it comes to "If then" statements and conditional formatting. I have some data that I am collecting and entering into a spreadsheet for a couple different companies. Once I receive paperwork from those companies for the data collected I mark the data with a blue colored text. I would like to have a second sheet that generates what companies have not sent me their paperwork. "If the data is black text, then generate <name of company> on second sheet." The list is small right now, but as the project continues it will grow very large and it will become difficult to track. I will attach a copy of the spreadsheet for you to see the situation. I would like to learn how to do these types of formulas, is there a tutorial geared towards these types of situations?

I have two spreadsheet "book1" with data in it, "book2" that takes all the information from "book1" the cells are linked in "book2" from "book1" so when someone updates "book1" the information is viewable in "book2"
In "book2" where I am getting stuck is as follows,
Column A contains data "break time" that is formatted in HH:MM:SS column B contains a "total duration" in HH:MM:SS. what I need to do is if column A data is = to or more than 4% of column B then I want to turn the cell in column A "red" if it is less then turn it "green". I have tried conditional formatting and it appears to work the once only, I dont no if this is because its 2003 and not 2007??
What I need is to repeat the conditional format over and over again forever is there any code for this I can use?

I have my formulas in place and they are working. The reason why some are coming up with #DIV/0 is because I do not have the data to complete the calculation.
Is there a way to make the #DIV/0 error go away until I imput the data to complete the calculation? I was thinking there might be a way to do it with conditional formatting.

Sub Macro1()
With Range("A1")
.FormatConditions.Delete
.FormatConditions.Add Type:=xlExpression, Formula1:="=A1=B1"
.FormatConditions(1).Interior.ColorIndex = 3
.FormatConditions.Add Type:=xlExpression, Formula1:="=A1B1"
.FormatConditions(2).Interior.ColorIndex = 50
.AutoFill Destination:=Range("A1:A29"), Type:=xlFillDefault
End With
End Sub
If my active cell is NOT A1, the formula entered into conditional formatting is off. The range references get all messed up. For example, if my active cell is Say D5
Condition 1 is
=IT65533=IU65533
Condition 2 is
=IT65533IU65533
But if I run the code with A1 as my active cell, it gets entered correctly as
Condition 1
=A1=B1
Condition 2
=A1B1

I would like to add conditional formatting for the whole row based on whether the value of cells in column A is "CON".
For Each c In r
If c.Value = "CON" Then
c.EntireRow.FormatConditions.Delete
c.EntireRow.FormatConditions.Add Type:=xlExpression, Formula1:=c.Address = "OK"
c.EntireRow.FormatConditions(1).Interior.ColorIndex = 35
end if
next c
the "CON" is a formula and can later take the value "OK".
The conditional formatting should highlight the whole row as green when that happens.
