I just want to conditionally format some columns with different colours. The problem is that I have some cells that have the value 'a' and others that have 'A'. These should be different colours, but I can't seem to get Excel to detect between the two forms.
I have a validation drop down box type thing... when I select the drop down, the lower-most option is highlighted as a default. How do I make it so that the upper-most option is highlighted first?
About conditional Formatting and relative referencing.
I need to change the colours of the cells depending if the pupil is meeting, over or under acheiving thier target grades.
I've got as far as highlighting the grades and using the formula in conditional formatting =ISTEXT(C7:C14) to display if the pupil is meeting their target grade.
I am aware that i will need to use relative referencing but am unsure how.
Its quite mind boggling to find out a way to see if they are over aceiving/under acheiving.
I'm creating a report that pulls certain record entries from another worksheet (Activity) in the same book. Originally, it only pulled one type of activity. "SO". Now I need it to pull "SO", "CC" and "BT" type activities into the same report. Currently my formula looks like this and works fine for only looking for the "SO" type:
I have 64 squares that will produce some repeat letter sequences. How do I make it so that When there are repeats (multiple instances of the same result) they turn the cell blue or whatever. I would like to specify again that there will be may more than one repeated sequence so its not as easy as I thought it would be so like the 1st set could be clue and the next set would be green or whatever.
I have a price list from a friend. The price list has to have every other row shaded. This part is no problem with the conditional format command.
The real trick, at least to me, is the background shade of the row is based on the first two letters in the left most column.
For instance:
Column A
CPST4 CPST5 FLADS3EC FLADS2EC FIL4
CP rows would alternate with one color while FL rows would alternate with a different color and FI rows would alternate with another different color. All other rows would have no shading.
MacOffice Excel 08 is used so no VB code can be used.
A little background on what i am doing. I have a spreadsheet that tracks when i have blown the dust out of our computers. I have set up conditional formatting so that the text turns red after 300 days and the cell turns yellow after 600 days. However, some computers are in high dust environments. I would like the spreadsheet to tell me to blow the dust out of these sooner. see the attached sheet.
Is it possible to change the format of cell AI3 based on the format of cell C3 and D3? I have C3 and D3 set to turn red based on what is in cell C2 and D2. I would like the following done:
If AI3=C3 & C3 is red, format AI3 blue If AI3=D3 & D3 is red, format AI3 blue Otherwise, leave AI3 unformatted.
Is there "code" for different formatting in a spreadsheet so you can use an IF statement to do something like:
if(A1=blue background,"Yes","No")
or
if(A1=red text,"Yes","No")
etc.?? But replace "blue background" and "red text" with some sort of number code? I want to compile a list of the items that are formatted with certain background colors and/or text colors and then organize only those items into a chart.
Any VBA that I can put into a macro that will convert conditional formatting into fixed formatting..? So when the cell contents/formulas are deleted the formatting remains. Assume that the range I want to convert is A1:D200...
I have a column of numbers and want to make sure everything has been entered correctly from our scanning software. Basically, I want to automatically highlight any cell that has any letter in it (e.g. z12o2 instead of 21202 or R705 instead of 5705), ignoring any cells that contain only numbers. I haven't had any luck using conditions based on formulas like =ISTEXT.
I need to run a loop through a column of values (attachment col B) and when it finds a "J" it will apply conditional formatting to a row of 4 cells directly adjacent. The attachment is a theoretical before & after.
I have a column of cells, some blank, some containing just numbers, some containing just letters, some containing numbers preceded by the the letter 'p'
E.g.
frt 34.2 36
p34.5
In the cells containing the number preceded by the 'p' - i would like to remove the 'p' leaving just the number, with all other cells remaining unchanged.
I have project's start date and end date and total cost. I want to spread the total cost across month on top using the total number of days[calculated using the end and start date] that project will run and the number of days that project is in that month. I have highlighted the area in yellow where I want formulas to work.
I was wondering whether it is possible to find a formula in Excel that would extract (using RIGHT formula) surname from Name Surname cell despite surname lenght i.e.:
'John Smith' in one cell would give 'Smith' in the other 'Tom Let' in one cell would give 'Let' in the other
I have tried to combine RIGHT, FIND and PROPER (for upper case) in one formula but it does not work.
Is there a VBA command to get the letters, instead of the numbers, of the column of a selected cell?
I have to letter a list whihc means setting up a loop using character codes.
I may have to go into double letters so I am working on how I would set up the loop for if and when it gets past 90 and starts on double letters. so far the highest is the letter "U"
of course the easiest would be to pick up a column value as a letter
I have many lines of text and I wondered if there is a formula so I can insert a comma before the first capital letter of each line? A small amount of text is below
leave on left Salter Road right Brunel Road
What i would like is there to be a comma before the first capital letter so it reads
I am attempting to create a capital depreciation schedule that gives us our total operating impact for a given calendar year. I can populate my depreciation based on the purchase month, and fill across the schedule the monthly depreciation cost, however, I'm not sure how to stop the depreciation after the item has depreciated fully (say after 36 months).
For example, if someone were to select March 2013 in B5, monthly depreciation should begin in E5 and spread across ONLY 36 months. If they were to select April 2013, the depreciation would begin in F5 and extend ONLY 36 months.
I think it might be possible to do this with an COUNTIF function, but it is not working for me.
I have code that I just noticed will not work if user inputs a capital S. I have tried a few things but I can not seem to get it to work. Here was the original code:
